0:00 let's turn to matthew chapter 4 and it says here that jesus had just passed it for 40 days and he was hungry and here it was a question now of survival how shall i live and that's what 0:30 everyone in the world is thinking about right now how so many people are dying all over the world with this coronavirus how am i going to survive and the devil knows that man's got a great desire to survive and so he told jesus you have power why don't you turn these stones into bread and then you won't die 0:57 you'll survive and there's so many things we can think of do this do that and it's good that's fine but jesus said more important than physical survival more important than physical survival and there are very few people in the world who will listen to this is spiritual survival 1:18 man shall not live by bread alone verse 4 or by medicines or all these things we take care of to protect ourselves to survive somehow or the other and not to die you know social distancing and all that type of stuff you're not going to live with all that you're not going to live with all the care 1:38 that you take and all the rules that you follow you will not be able to survive man shall live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of god and that's the difference between a true christian and everybody else for us primarily i want to hear what god is saying to me throughout the day i'll tell you 2:01 this my dear brothers and sisters the most important thing now is to hear god and to have our ears open to listen to him not just once a day reading the bible 15 minutes in the morning a lot of us have plenty of time at home nowadays because we don't go to work but to be able to have our ears open to say lord i want 2:25 to have my conscience clear the only thing that can prevent us from hearing the word of god from hearing god speaking to us the only thing that can prevent us from hearing god is a bad conscience i'm not making a list of ten things one thing you keep your conscience clear and you'll be able to hear god 2:49 throughout throughout the day even if you are not if your bible is not open because we have the holy spirit within us we must be open to the holy spirit and the only thing that will make us deaf is when our conscience is not clear i want to show you a verse in hebrews in chapter 3:11 hebrews chapter five in hebrews chapter five it says here in verse 11 hebrews 5 verse 11 concerning christ we have much to say to you but it's very hard to explain because you have become dull 3:35 of hearing is it possible for a christian to be dull of hearing see he's talking to believers in chapter 3 verse 1 he says holy brethren particles of the heavenly calling he's talking to believers and saying you have become dull of hearing 3:54 why did they become dull of hearing because i think one example is hebrews 2 verse 3 they were neglecting their salvation he says how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation that's one way we become dull of hearing where we say oh i've accepted christ 4:15 15 20 years ago i accepted christ but salvation is a daily thing it's not just salvation from hell even the pharisees wanted salvation from hell and everybody in the world wants salvation from hell but salvation from sin that's quite another thing the difference between an old covenant christian and a new covenant christian is this 4:38 the old covenant christian wants salvation from hell he wants to go to heaven when he dies the new covenant christian wants salvation from sin and his goal goal is not heaven his goal is becoming like jesus christ in his character 4:54 so there you can identify whether you're an old covenant christian or a new covenant christian or let me repeat an old covenant christian is only interested in salvation from hell and he wants to go to heaven when that's goal is heaven when he dies 5:08 the new covenant christian is interest is in salvation from sin and his goal is to become like christ not heaven Mm-hmm.
