One of the first external things that you notice is that we don't take any offering. 1:15 That's not because we are all very rich. It's because we believe that when Jesus had a meeting, He never took a collection. 1:42 And when the Apostle Paul conducted a meeting, He never took an offering. That is the height of integrity at which Christianity started 2,000 years ago. 2:09 But today, in this area of money, it has descended into a pit. We are trying to restore Christianity to that original height. 2:37 And the other thing you see here is, we don't have any pastors sitting over here because we don't have any pastors at all. We don't have any titles in our churches. 3:00 We are all brothers and sisters. We all have different functions, but we are brothers and sisters. And that is also how it was in the beginning in Christianity. 3:23 But today, Christianity has descended. It's like a river. You take any river in India. The most famous river is the river Ganga. 3:46 It starts in the mountains of the Himalayas and flows down into the plains. And if you look at the water in the plains, it is absolutely filthy. 4:06 If you drink it, you will get sick. If you want the pure water of that river, you must go to its source in the mountains. 4:27 There you can drink it. Christianity is like a river that has been flowing for 2,000 years. And what you see today is filthy. 4:47 It is God's word mixed with human traditions. That is like the pure water mixed with all the sewage that flows from the toilet into the same river. 5:16 The traditions of men can be compared to the sewage water that comes from the toilet. You may not think so, but it is like that in God's eyes. The pure water is the word of God. 5:41 And when it's mixed with human tradition, it's like water mixed with sewage. It's not fit for drinking. And anybody who drinks that water will get sick. And that's why we have so many Christians today who are spiritually sick. 6:07 Defeated it by sin in their lives. There is as much quarrelling and fighting in a Christian home as in any non-Christian home. That's because they are drinking this dirty water. 6:28 So, our desire is to go to the mountain, to the source. And the source is in the Bible. If you want the pure water of Christianity, you've got to go to the Bible. 6:54 And you'll find many things there are very, very, very different from what you see today in Christianity. And the standard of life that's described in this book is a thousand times higher than what you see in Christians and Christian churches today. 7:18 In the New Testament, you read of men like Paul, who were great apostles, but they worked with their own hands and supported themselves. 7:46 And it's very rare to find anybody like that today. But we've got so many elders like that in all of our churches. So, there are many areas in which we seek to be different because we want to go back to the source. 8:12 So, our theme here is the truth will make you free. Those are the words of Jesus. You shall know the truth and the truth will make you free. When I was a young Christian, I did not know much about the Bible. 8:37 I was born again when I was 19 years old. It was more than 50 years ago. And I didn't know much about the Bible. And I saw all these different churches saying that we are speaking the truth. 8:57 And I said, Lord, how to know which of these is the truth? And that's when this verse helped me. If a church is speaking the truth, it will set you free from sin. If it is not setting people free from sin, then it is not the truth. 9:25 Because the truth will make you free. That was a great help to me. If I go to any church or a preacher and listen to it, that makes me a little more free from sin in my life. 9:46 Must be a little bit of the truth there. Then I hear some more of, sets me more free. That must be the truth. When I hear something else, that brings bondage and condemnation. 10:06 That cannot be the truth. I reject it. So, by a simple process of eliminating anything that brought me into bondage and accepting whatever set me free from sin, Through 50 years, 10:30 I discovered many things that were the truth. Not by argument. And not by prejudice towards one denomination against another denomination. For me, 10:55 the test was always this word of Jesus in John 8.32. You will know the truth. By one test, it will make you free. Because Jesus did not come to bring bondage. He came to bring freedom. 11:16 Especially freedom from sin. Not only freedom from sin. There was another thing Jesus came to set people free from. Human traditions that had bound people up. 11:37 That means taking the word of God and converting it into a human tradition. The Pharisees did that in Jesus' day. 11:57 They would take a wonderful commandment of God and make it into a tradition of theirs which brought people into bondage. And they didn't even see that bondage. For example, God had made a wonderful law 12:18 that on the seventh day, people should rest after they work for six days. That was not meant to bind man. It was a commandment so that man doesn't keep on working for seven days. 12:39 He can have a rest for one day. And so that he can rest and think about God and spend time with the Lord. But they misunderstood that. And they would not even allow a man 13:00 to be healed by Jesus on the Sabbath day. And Jesus said, if your donkey falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, will you pull it out? Or wait till the next day? See, they were so selfish. 13:23 Whatever concerned themselves, they would modify the laws to suit their own convenience. But when it concerned other poor people, they would not bother. So, Jesus set people free from these traditions that bound people. 13:49 And the Pharisees got so angry with him that they killed him. Do you know that they killed Jesus because he spoke the truth? So, the truth not only makes us free, 14:10 the truth will make many Christians angry because it exposes their sin and their traditions. See, like what I said earlier, whenever Jesus had a meeting, 14:33 he never took a collection of money. none of the apostles did it. So, how is that practice come today? 14:56 It's a human tradition. And when we say that is a tradition which is against Jesus and the apostles. People get angry. Especially those who love to collect money. 15:20 Then how did Jesus get money for his food and to feed his 12 disciples? People gave voluntarily, secretly. That is how God's work was done in the first century. 15:43 And that is how we have done our work in the last 35 years in all our churches. You know, to hire a hall like this for three days costs nearly one lakh. 16:05 That's a lot of money. But we're not going to take it with a collection. No. Because of one reason. The gospel we preach is free. Everything God gives is free. 16:29 What man does is he wants money for it. We can say the devil is always stealing. Man is always selling. And God is always giving free. 16:52 It's true. The devil is always stealing. Man is always selling. And that God is always giving things free. Anything. Look at the oxygen we breathe every day. Do you have to pay 17:12 God for it? Not one cent. Not one cent. You go to a hospital and try and get some oxygen for breathing. You'll have to pay for it. What about the water in the rivers? 17:33 Does God charge us for it? free. But man will take it and sell it to you through the corporation. That's what I mean. Man is always selling what God is giving free. 17:56 in the same in the same way in Christianity God gave the gospel free but many pastors and preachers are selling it for me. so we want to so we want to come back to the way Jesus did it the way the apostles 18:17 did it so that we give a correct impression of God to the people I want to turn to a verse in Ephesians in chapter 2 Ephesians chapter 2 18:37 we read a very well-known verse verse 8 by grace you have been saved through faith there are three words there grace 18:59 faith saved and these are three words that are completely misunderstood kingdom it is the 22:10 exact equivalent of money on this earth if you have plenty of money on this earth you can live very comfortably if you have plenty of grace you will live a very triumphant Christian life if you 22:35 have very little money on this earth and you struggle and struggle and struggle to meet your monthly needs and when you have little grace you struggle in your Christian life more 22:56 than 95% of Christians I have met are struggling in their Christian life and sometimes they are very happy and sometimes they are discouraged up and down 23:16 and up and down and up and down it is like a beggar one day he gets 50 rupees from somebody he can really have a grand meal another day he gets only 5 rupees and he struggles so this beggar's life is up and down 23:36 he doesn't know tomorrow whether he will get 50 rupees or 2 rupees and a lot of Christians are like these beggars sometimes up sometimes down you don't know what it will be like I want to tell you my brother 23:57 sister in love I want to say this to you the devil has cheated you of your inheritance I want to show you the inheritance that Jesus purchased 24:17 for you on the cross supposing your father was a multi-millionaire and you are his only child and he has written a will so that when I die all this property 24:37 this bank account here there there is all for this son of mine or daughter for you and you take the will to some lawyer to get it executed 24:58 and that crooked lawyer cheats you of 99% of your inheritance and you only get a small amount of money 25:18 and you live in a small hut quite happy because you got a little bit I am getting about thousand rupees a month oh I am so happy but that 25:39 lawyer has cheated you you should be getting a mill ten lakhs rupees a month there are about ten big houses your father has left for you you don't have to live in that hut but this is 26:00 exact picture of how the devil has cheated christians so my job is like your you jesus christ very clearly he who was pierced on the cross the 32:33 spirit of grace will come and show you we have to be open to the spirit that gives us grace that is the main purpose with which god poured the holy spirit 32:53 on this earth the holy spirit came to give people grace to show them the beauty of jesus i praise the lord that he has done both those things in my life 33:14 so what does this grace do for us it's the money of heaven i told you grace is the money of the kingdom of heaven the more you have of it the richer you are the less 33:37 you have of it the poorer you are now on earth who gets money those who work very hard those who are very clever and who have got a lot of degrees those who 34:00 cheat and tell lies those who steal crooked businessmen and politicians who take bribes they get a lot of money or you get an inheritance from a rich father these are the many ways people get money there are 34:23 so many righteous and unrighteous ways to make money on this earth but who are the ones who get grace grace there is only one way to get it and if you find that secret you can keep on getting grace I am 34:48 going to show you the things the devils cheated you of see 1 Peter 5 and verse 5 this is the first thing we need to see everybody cannot get grace and 35:10 I would say the other way also everybody can get grace if they want to so what did I say everybody cannot get grace but everybody can get it if they want to because it says in 1 Peter 5 and verse 5 35:31 God gives grace to the humble there is no other qualification only one qualification if you are humble God will give you grace you don't 35:53 even have to ask for it did you know that you don't even have to ask for it if you are humble he will give you the grace it's a law you know the holy spirit is pictured like a river of water it's a picture 36:13 now if water is flowing down somewhere in the roads when it rains it's it's very easy to find out anywhere which is the lowest place in that road because all the 36:35 rain will come there you see a wavy type of field up and down you know which are the lowest spots all the rain will be there the rain falls on the high places but finally comes down to the lowest place and 36:59 that's where it accumulates and that is the same principle of grace God gives grace to the humble those who humble themselves you don't have to be clever you don't have to have Bible knowledge but you 37:19 have to be humble if you can understand the secret of humility you have understood how to make money in God's kingdom I mean spiritual riches as I told you to make money on the earth 37:40 there are so many crooked ways and righteous ways to get spiritual wealth there is only one way you got to humble yourself and do you know that we get opportunities to humble ourselves every day I'll give you 38:04 an example when when somebody gets angry and shouts at you you have an opportunity to react in pride by getting angry back at him or in humility by keeping quiet humble humble humble get grace humble 38:25 get grace if humanity is in our thoughts it's not in our dress or our actions most most human beings they think they are better than everybody else or at least 38:48 better than some people and that is what we call pride pride is I think I'm better than you maybe I'm not better than all those other people but I'm better than some of you and that is the main reason why many Christians 39:08 don't get grace God will not give grace to a proud person so if you can learn the secret of humility you will keep on getting grace every day of your life so what 39:31 does grace bring us let me show you three things first of all Ephesians chapter 1 in Ephesians chapter 1 it says verse 7 we have forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace 39:52 so what do we get through the riches of God's grace through the blood of Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven that is number one work of 40:12 grace it is our entire past life can be blotted out it is a wonderful promise that every single sin I have committed in my life can be cleansed and 40:32 forgiven in a moment see that that has to be the first step because God cannot deal with us as long as we have got this guilt of sin and by his 40:55 grace he blots it out what do we have to do we must confess that we have sinned if you don't admit that you are a sinner you cannot be forgiven the conditions 41:17 are very simple let me just mention three of them number one you must confess I am a sinner you don't have to confess all the hundred thousand sins you committed in your life none of us can do that what do 41:38 I have to do Lord I am a sinner I have sinned so many times in my thoughts in my words in my actions in my attitudes to people and number one the second thing is I must be willing to turn from it I am not asking you to get victory over it that is another step for example for example if you are angry type of person God is not am always getting angry I want to give it up the question is do you want to give it up that is the meaning of repentance that's 43:25 the Tamil translation is beautiful it's a turning of your mind completely round my mind had one attitude to anger now it has got another attitude to anger to all sin I had 43:46 a certain attitude towards cheating people now I got another attitude towards cheating people so first I acknowledge my sin and then I turn from it even though I don't have victory over it I want to give it up there's 44:10 one more condition when God forgives you so much he you cannot forgive them God says I will 44:53 not forgive you and that is the reason why many Christians are not forgiven and that is why they have so many sicknesses in their in their in their body they have ulcers and migraine and arthritis 45:13 they take tablets and tablets and tablets don't heal you you must you must forgive there are many sicknesses people have because they haven't forgiven somebody 45:33 I challenge you you forgive somebody and see some of your sicknesses don't go away I'm not saying that all sicknesses are dependent on that but at 45:53 least twenty percent of sicknesses are dependent on that and those twenty percent of sicknesses will go so we must acknowledge our sin turn from our sin and forgive others 46:14 grace will blot out your past life and you can look back and say my life is clean now how wonderful it's like throwing out all the stinking garbage from your kitchen the 46:36 second thing that grace does is mentioned in Romans 6 14 sin is like a master that has ruled you once God is forgiven you by grace 46:56 he will give you power to overcome sin by grace there is the Romans 6 14 here it says when you come under grace sin will not be able to rule over you 47:19 sin is always trying to pull you down grace will lift you up there is a law in this world called the law of gravity and there's another law called the law of sin the law of sin internet pornography dirty filthy movies and bitterness many many evil things witchcraft 48:19 it's like the law of gravity if I try 48:47 to fly gravity pulls me down but grace can lift you up so that this law of sin cannot rule you see that aeroplane how it overcomes 49:07 the law of gravity and goes up isn't that a miracle such a heavy such a heavy thing weighing so many tons just by itself it goes up nobody is lifting it it's not some 49:31 rope pulling it up it is just overcoming the law of gravity because there is another law and if you study it in physics it's called the law of it's the 51:15 mighty power of God you see how the devil has cheated you of it you have not experienced it you have not experienced this grace that's able to lift you up it's a promise 51:36 sin shall not rule over you like it says in Romans 8 verse 2 the law of the Holy Spirit sets me free from the law of sin the two laws 51:58 mentioned here one is the law of sin pulling you down the law of the spirit which is grace setting you free from that ask God to make that clear to you then the third 52:20 thing our first problem is all the guilt of our past life our second problem is that we are defeated defeated by sin our third problem is that as long as we live on this earth 52:40 we have many trials and pressures and problems because this world is an evil people's circumstances all types of things we have problems how shall we 53:00 handle them see 2nd Corinthians chapter 12 Paul tells us there about a problem he had which he calls a thorn in the flesh in verse 7 he doesn't tell us what it is but you can apply it to any problem you have 53:20 in your life I don't think there is a single person sitting here who doesn't have some problem you must be having some problem in your life or your family or your home or your work or somewhere and that is 53:41 the devil attacking you and Paul says here in verse 7 it is a messenger of Satan it is like a thorn in the flesh poking you poking you poking you have you got a problem like that which is like 54:02 a thorn in the flesh which is getting infected and full of pus and what not some problem in your life and you say how shall I overcome this all prayed to God you know 54:22 what God's answer was grace verse 9 my grace is sufficient for you because my power will be strong in your weakness so that is the third area where grace helps us the third 54:47 is to be able to overcome the problems that we face in life even the 55:07 problems that other people cause for us by grace we can conquer them we can overcome them the problem may remain but we go over them it's like it's like if there's a mountain which is like a problem God gives 55:30 you wings like a bird and you go over it that's grace it makes you overcome the problem or to use another illustration causing you are trying to cross a river in a boat and under 55:50 the water there's a rock that you're always hitting hitting hitting hitting you can't go across that's your problem say Lord get rid of this rock get rid of this rock and he doesn't do it but he raises the level of the water 56:10 and you go across that's grace and that's why a Christian is always triumphant if he gets grace see Romans chapter 8 in Romans 8 we read like this verse 37 56:33 in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us what things verse 35 tribulation distress persecution famine 56:53 nakedness nakedness peril sword verse 38 death life angels principality things present things to come nothing can separate me from the love of God in all these all these things I am more 57:14 than a conqueror when we get grace from God we can solve every problem we can overcome every problem our sins are forgiven we get victory over our sinful nature 57:34 and thirdly we can face every problem in life and be a conqueror that is what the Holy Spirit has come to give us grace to whom does he give it those who humble 57:55 themselves before him dear brothers and sisters get rid of your pride get rid of all those high thoughts you think you are such a big person just say to God Lord I am a nobody I am not better 58:17 than anybody else Paul said I am the chief of sinners that is why he got so much grace come to God in humility let's pray while our heads bowed in prayer I want you to 58:39 bow your head and pray to God and say Lord I am a nobody I have been so proud and that is why I never got grace in my life but today 59:01 I humble myself I acknowledge I am a nobody and all my life I want to be a nobody please give me your grace to forgive me and help me to overcome sin 59:22 and to make me a conqueror in all of life's battles God will do it Father those who are calling upon you now please hear and answer that prayer in Jesus name 59:43
