0:00 to read today. Chapter 5 18 0:20 In the last part it says We know that no one who is born of God sins, but he who is born of God keeps him self and the evil one does not touch him. And we know verse 19 that we are of God 0:50 the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. So we've been thinking about this verse, the world and all its lusts are going to pass away. But he who does the will of God abides 1:14 forever. So we've been trying to understand what is this world and its lusts that are going to pass away. We saw it's not the trees and the flowers and the fields. No, those are not going to pass away. 1:40 God will just make it more beautiful. But this world system which is described here in verse 19 as the whole world is lying in the power of the evil one. Look at the world and his ways. 2:08 Do you really believe that that the whole world is lying in the power of the evil one? 2,000 years ago it was true. Ever since Adam submitted to the devil, the devil got 2:26 power over everything. See what he said to Jesus in Luke chapter 4. In the Old Testament, nobody had 2:46 understanding about all these things. The first person to confront Satan directly was the Lord Jesus Christ. Nobody before that. And after Satan confront the Jesus 3:06 confronted Satan, we got more and more light on what Satan's tactics are. We know the devil is a liar. He lied to Eve and he lies to us. 3:31 But he could not lie to Jesus Christ. So, what he says to Jesus is true. Luke 4 verse 6 This is what the devil said to Jesus. If you bow down to me, 3:53 I'll give I'll give you all this domain and its glory because it's been handed over to me and I give it to whomever I like. What we read in 1 John, the whole world 4:20 lies in the power of Satan. He said that to Jesus. The whole world system is given to me. has been handed over to me. 4:45 Who handed it over to him? doesn't say I took it. This whole dominion was handed over to me. This whole dominion was handed over to me. Jesus did not say you're a liar. What he 5:09 said was right. You know who handed it over to When God created Adam, God created Adam. "Let them rule have authority over everything on this earth." And there was only one person above Adam, bow 5:40 See, that's what Adam and Eve did. When you obey Satan, you're bowing down to Satan. See, that's what Adam and Eve did. When you obey Satan, you're bowing down to Satan. Bowing down doesn't mean 5:57 uh kneeling down before some idol. Uh Satan is a spirit. You can't see him. How do you bow down to him? When you obey him, you're bowing down to him. So, just like Adam and Eve bowed down to 6:18 Satan, he told Jesus to do the same. When Adam and Eve bowed down to Satan, all the authority God had given him over the whole earth, he handed it over to Satan. That is why he tells Jesus, "It has been 6:41 handed over to me actually by Adam and Eve." And so now it says in 1 John 5, "Our world is now in the power of the evil one." And he controls everything. 7:03 "I give it to whomever I like," it says here. "I will give it to people who bow down to me." Take money, for example. There are preachers who say that Jesus 7:24 will give you money. But that is what all the other religions also say. See, the richest people in India and in the world are not Christians. Even these preachers who collect so many 7:45 so much money from people, they are also not the richest in the world. The richest people in the world are Muslims and Hindus. And not 8:05 born again people. Christians who are not born again. Atheists. Wholehearted born again Christians are not the richest people in the world. Because the devil doesn't give it to 8:25 give it to them. What did he say here? All this in the world I give it to whomever I like. All right. So, don't be discouraged if 8:42 you have not become very rich. We say, "Lord, the only money we want is what you give us." I don't want one rupee from the devil. 9:05 If you have cheated people and got money, you bow down to the devil and you got some money from him. You want to keep it. Supposing in the past you cheated 9:23 somebody and you got some money, that is what the devil gave you. Don't keep it. How to cleanse yourself from it? How to cleanse yourself from it? Give it to God. 9:48 Then you are free from it. my unconverted days when I was young, then I bought my own property. I also cheated the government of some money. Then I got converted. That's what the Lord showed me. You bow down to the devil and you got some 10:03 money. Give it back. If you cannot find the person to whom you have to give back, give it to God. I don't want to have even one rupee in my account which I did not honestly 10:22 earn. Some of the biggest crooks in the world today are pastors. Because they force people to give money. Jesus ever ever ever ask anybody to give 10:46 him even one paisa? You read in Luke chapter And verse three. 11:05 steward's wife Joanna and Susanna and many others contributed to the support of Jesus from their private means. Jesus had 12 disciples who had to take 11:46 care of their families. But they didn't go around like beggars. They didn't tell people you must give me money for my ministry. All these preachers who do that today 12:06 are following the devil. Jesus never did it. Apostles never did it. The apostles never did it. When an unbeliever like Naaman gave money to Elisha, Elisha said, "Take it. I don't want it." That was that Syrian general, Naaman. 12:38 But his servant, Gehazi, went and got the money. But Gehazi is a picture of a lot of today's preachers. Along with the money, they get the leprosy also. So, we must be careful. I'm not going to 12:56 get anything from the devil. I don't want to get anything from the devil's children, also. So, because Jesus refused that whatever Satan offered. Uh 13:16 we are not to get money from people by fighting with them. Because fighting is a spirit of the devil. Remember this, the whole world is lying in the power of the evil one. But we read in 1 John 4. 13:35 1 John 5. Just this verse we read in verse 18. No one who's born of God sins. Now that means the meaning there is he does not continue to sin. It's like saying, "I know how to walk." 14:02 I'm not like a 10-month-old baby who does not know how to walk. I know how to walk. But that doesn't mean I never fall. I can trip on these stairs and fall right here. See, none of us can say I'll never fall, 14:22 I but you know how to walk. So that is what it means to be born of God. We may fall. But we know how to live in purity. What does a baby do when it falls? 14:45 Very often it cannot even get up. His mother has to pick it up. Well, what do you do when you fall? You get up immediately. That is a child of God. I may fall. I get up, Lord, I'm sorry. I slipped up, please forgive me. 15:05 Immediately. Immediately. That is the meaning I don't continuously live in sin. That's the meaning of That's the meaning of that verse. Look at the second part of the verse, it's very important. A child of God 15:25 keeps himself and the evil one does not touch him. What a wonderful promise. Satan cannot touch me. You say, "How do you say that?" 15:45 1 John 5:18 I keep myself. He who was born of God keeps himself. The evil one does not touch him. But I'm living in a world which is 16:05 completely under the power of the evil one. How can I live in a world completely under the power of the evil one and the evil one does not touch me? Okay, I'll give you two examples. 16:27 Many years ago, man went and landed on the moon. 45 years ago. Many of you know about it. Now, in the moon, they don't have the air that we have here to breathe. If you go to the moon like this, you'll 16:50 die. There's no air to breathe. So, the people who went to the moon they had a special suit. Inside that suit, they had a lot of the oxygen of this earth. The same air we are breathing every day 17:16 They it a container and they were breathing it all the time. And the whole suit was completely covered, so not even a small hole. Because if there's a small hole, all 17:36 this air will go out and then the moon atmosphere will come in and they'll die. So, THIS IS COMPLETELY AIRTIGHT. IT'S CALLED a space suit. And then they went there. 17:58 They were not breathing the atmosphere of the moon. Because they would die. They were breathing the atmosphere of Earth inside the suit. All around them was this atmosphere of 18:18 the moon that would kill anybody. And they could walk and walk and walk and for a long time. That is a picture of how we are to live on this earth. Whole atmosphere, spiritual atmosphere 18:38 of this world is to kill us. The cinemas, all the gossip that people speak to each other, all the tempting way in which a lot of 18:57 women dress nowadays, that is the atmosphere of this earth. It will kill a person. Spiritually. So, we need to be in this suit. in Christ. 19:21 Like those people were in a space suit. placed me in Christ. And then I'm walking around this earth. And the evil one cannot touch me. What a wonderful way to live. 19:43 You must claim that promise for this whole year. And the rest of your life. Lord Jesus I want to live in you. Teach me what it means. 20:01 So that every day the devil will not be able to touch me. See, those people walked on the moon, they did not they were not afraid, oh, we'll get the moon atmosphere, we may die. See, only if I make a hole in the suit, 20:22 then only the atmosphere will come So, we don't live in fear. I'm in Christ. I'm in Christ. And the evil one cannot touch me. But it says here, I have to keep myself. I have to keep myself that I don't make 20:43 holes in this the suit I have. The devil cannot make a hole. Because if he could make a hole, he'd make a hole in everybody. The devil cannot make a hole in my suit. 21:04 But I can make it myself. Well, I said You sit in front of a computer. And they say go to this site, you'll see some dirty pictures. Who do you think is telling you that? 21:25 Do you think it's the Holy Spirit telling you at that time, go here you'll see something interesting? You know very clearly that is the devil. But you still click and go there. And you bow down to the devil. 21:47 And he says you wanted pleasure, right? I'll give you some pleasure. But I give it only to those who bow down to me. Sometimes you resist it sometimes. And the devil will say, "Come on, come on. Don't don't resist." And you go away. Uh but 22:11 And you come back. The devil says no again, I'll give you some pleasure. Finally, after half an hour of resisting, you yield. And you made a hole. You did it yourself. 22:31 And the evil one can touch you now. I'll tell you another way in which the evil one touches you. See, Ephesians chapter 4. Our goal is that the evil one should not 22:50 touch us at all. He who is born of God keeps himself. Ephesians 4. There's a little expression. There's a little expression. In English it is verse 27, 23:12 which says, "Don't give the devil an opportunity or a place in your life." Don't give the devil an opportunity or a place in your life. What is he talking about? 23:34 He's talking about anger. Verse 26 Be angry, but don't sin. And don't let the sun set on your anger. Because if you do that, you'll give the devil an opportunity and a place in your 23:54 life. This is very important. When you get angry you give the devil a place in your life. When I was born again, I didn't have any victory over anger. Even when I got married, I didn't have 24:14 any victory over anger. I had no victory over anger. I was defeated. Because I never knew about this life of victory. So, I was defeated for many years. I didn't read the word of God properly. And I never heard a preacher who showed 24:34 me this verse saying, "If you get angry, the devil will get an opportunity." Many things in the Bible I had to find out myself. But every time I got angry, I was fed up with myself. I said, "Lord, this is not 24:51 the way I I asked God to forgive me, and God would forgive me. God But I said Lord how many times am I going to keep falling keep falling in a single day? falling falling falling 25:21 When am I going to grow up? falling in anger falling in anger falling in anger every day That's a baby. I want to grow up. So it says here There is an anger without sin. That means there is a right way to be 25:44 angry also. And a wrong way to be angry. Which is the right way to be angry and the wrong way to be angry? Whenever you find a verse in scripture 26:01 that you cannot understand I'll tell you how to understand it. In English when you're reading a book and you can't understand a word in English There's a book called dictionary. You go to dictionary and you find out the 26:19 meaning. So you do the same way. When you read a verse in the Bible You can't understand it. We go to the dictionary. And I'll tell you what the dictionary is. 26:36 The dictionary is Jesus Christ. This is the word written in paper. Jesus Christ is called the word made flesh. John 1:14, the word became flesh. 27:04 So, here is the word written on paper. And I don't understand it. So, I go to the word made flesh. I say, "Lord Jesus, when were you angry and when were you not angry?" Then I can find out right anger and 27:25 wrong anger. I want to be like Jesus. So, when was he angry? When he saw people making money in the name of religion in the temple. He took a whip and chased them. 27:51 Have you ever seen a picture of Jesus with a whip and turning the tables? People don't draw paintings of Jesus like that. We need to see that. 28:08 Because Jesus is angry then and today with anyone who tries to make money in the name of God. He did that in those days. And today also. 28:27 So, I learned something. When must I be angry? When I see people, pastors, preachers making money in the name of Christ. public meeting or in a Christian television 28:47 I must not sit and just watch it. No. I must be angry. I must speak against it. Are you angry when you see that? If you're not angry, you're not like Jesus Christ. When Jesus sees it, he's angry. 29:12 Anybody who's come to our church looking for money, we chase them out. No place in our church. That is where we must be angry. And another time we saw Jesus is angry in the Gospel of Mark. Mark chapter 3 29:37 He went into a synagogue on a Sabbath day. And there was a man with a withered hand. Because Jesus always wants to heal those who are withered. Whether your hand is withered or your 30:04 life is withered with sin. Jesus wants to heal you. And he told the man, "Come forward." And he said, "Is it right to heal a man on the 30:24 Sabbath day?" Do good And he knew that those people did not want him to heal. Imagine how evil they are. That they don't want Jesus to heal this 30:41 man. Because then this man will leave the synagogue and follow him. And they were more concerned, "No, no, no, we must not let people LEAVE OUR CHURCH." AND IT SAYS Jesus looked at them, verse 31:03 five, with anger. At the same time he had grief in his heart. These poor people are trying to hinder this man from healing. He was angry when he saw the hardness of 31:22 their heart. So today also in many churches there are people withered by sin, just like this man. And when we go and preach to them 31:40 you can be free from sin's power. You can be an overcomer. Many churches do not like that. I've experienced that many times. Because they are afraid. If this man gets victory over sin, he'll 31:58 leave our church and go there. We must be angry with such preachers who hinder people from coming into a life of victory. Those are the two places we see Jesus 32:18 angry. So that type of anger is good. When was Jesus not angry? We read once they called him prince of devils. Matthew 12 and verse 24 32:41 Now how would you feel if somebody called you not only a devil but the ruler of devils? Matthew 12:24 he Beelzebub prince of devils. This man is under the control he's the 33:01 ruler of demons. What did Jesus say? He didn't get angry. Not even a little bit. He said in verse 32 If you speak a word against me it's forgiven. Not only that 33:23 he said no 2000 years anybody who speaks a word against me is forgiven now itself. That's why he said whoever shall ever speak a word against me forgiven. Do you get angry when somebody calls you 33:43 a bad name? When somebody tells a false story about you. When somebody calls you evil or some bad name. Do you get angry? That is an anger with sin. 34:02 I'm looking at the dictionary Jesus Christ. The word made flesh. I see he got angry when people were making money in the name of religion. When he saw people not willing to help a poor withered man. But when they called him a devil he said 34:26 forgiven. And you know later on when he was being tried in the high priests and by Pilate they spat on him. If somebody spits on your face, you get angry. 34:48 That is sin. Somebody shouts at you, you get angry. That is sin. It doesn't matter who it is. If your husband shouts at you, wife shouts at you, if you get angry, you sin. So, 35:13 I learned in my life what is sinful anger and what is righteous anger. I learned it from the word made flesh, Jesus Christ. So, I look at Jesus and run this race. Running the race means I see Jesus 35:35 footsteps and I put left, right, left, right in those footsteps. I see his footsteps. He never got angry when people called him bad names. Okay, Lord, I will never get angry when 35:56 people call me bad names. He never got angry when people spat on him. I will never get angry when people spit on me. People shouted at Jesus, he never got angry. I I see those footsteps. I'll never get 36:15 angry when people I see those footsteps. He is angry when people make money in the name of religion. So, I'm going to get angry when people make money in the name of religion. So, I'm going to get angry when people make money in the name of religion. 36:35 He gets angry when people don't want to help somebody who's suffering. I also want to get angry there. So, I got a rule for my life. Anything that concerns me, I must never get angry. Anything that concerns the glory of God, 36:58 and the good of other suffering people, I must get angry. That became a clear line for me. But, how do most people in the world live? Or even most Christians? 37:15 They are living the exact opposite. They see people making money in their religion, they sit and watch it. They see people exploiting others, they sit and watch it. When I see read in the newspapers of all 37:35 the evil that a lot of people are doing to children and women around the world, I can't do anything much for them, but I get angry and I say, "Lord Jesus, come soon and judge these people." And if anybody does anything or says 37:59 anything against me, forgiven. Forgive them all. That is how, as a child of God, I keep myself, and the devil cannot touch me. So, even though the whole world is 38:21 under the power of the evil one. As we read in Ephesians 4, don't give the devil a place to come inside this suit. Don't get angry at the wrong time. Okay, supposing you did get angry. 38:47 It's like falling down. Get up immediately. It's like getting a puncture in your cycle, fix it immediately. I got a puncture on my scooter, I'd go and get it fixed immediately. So, if you get a hole, fix it 39:06 immediately. Then the devil cannot touch me. So, that is the will of God. That we keep ourselves that evil one does not touch us. So, I told you I'd give you two 39:25 examples. One is this man on the moon in this special suit where he keeps himself. Another picture is a ship in the sea. This ship is surrounded by water. 39:52 But if there's a hole there and the water comes in, then the ship goes down. Even a small hole. There are many stories like that where the ship hit something, one small hole came and the whole ship went So, the ship must be in the water, but 40:17 the water must not be in the ship. We have to be in the world, but the world must not be in us. See what Jesus prayed in John 17. This is what he prayed for us. 40:44 John chapter 17. I am no more, verse 11. Uh verse 9 first. I'm asking for these disciples of mine. I'm not asking you uh I'm not asking on behalf of the 41:03 world, but I'm asking on behalf of these whom you have given me. Prayer is not for worldly people. No, this is only for his disciples. And verse 20, I'm also praying for those 41:28 who will later on believe on me through their word. Now, listen to this. 41:50 Verse 15. I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but I'm asking you when they are in the world that the evil one should not touch them. So, what is Jesus praying for us? 42:12 Father, don't take them out of the world. Let the world surround them. Like the water surrounds the ship. But I'm praying the water will not get inside the ship. I'm praying the evil one will not get inside them even though he's all around 42:31 them. That's what we read in John 1 John 5. The whole world is like a big sea full of evil. And in the midst of this sea of evil, we 42:48 are like this little boat. But Jesus is in the boat. And the devil sends his storms to make the boat sink. Or he'll make you make a little hole in 43:06 the boat. Then the water Then the water will come in. So we have to be very careful. Your home, for example. Your home is like a little boat. Inside that boat is you and your wife 43:27 and your children. The whole world is like a sea of evil. Your children go to school. Those children in school are not converted. A sea of evil. 43:50 And all bad habits they have. And all dirty books those children read. Nowadays even 9 10-year-old children are reading dirty books. You can't keep your children at home all the time. Your Your have to go to school. 44:10 What shall you pray? Lord, don't let the world come inside them. Your home is like a boat. Surrounded by the evil sea. And Jesus can keep you. 44:31 Let the world come inside your home. When children are small, they don't have any understanding. But you know how little babies will even put mud and all in their mouth. They'll even play with a snake. 44:54 They'll play with a knife. No understanding. Spiritually, even your 10 12-year-old are like that. They have no spiritual understanding. Even your 15-year-old son or daughter 45:12 does not have any understanding. Sometimes even your 18 19-year-old daughter may not have understanding. Sometimes they don't listen to you. You tell them don't keep friends with 45:30 such people. They say, "What? What what's wrong, daddy, mommy?" And they fall into some problem. We have to protect them. We have to be very strict with our 45:48 children in these days. There were many things I did not allow my children to do in my home. I never took to cinemas. I never took them to circus to see all 46:07 these improperly dressed girls running around. I say I can take them to the zoo to show lions and tigers and all. I don't have to take them to a circus. Any type of bad music I would never 46:29 allow in my house. Why? Because I did not want my children to go into the world. They are small. They don't have understanding. And sometimes they would get upset with 46:47 me. Daddy, you're so strict. Look at those other believers. They allow their children to do all that. I say you wait 15 years and see where those children are and after 15 years years you'll see where you are. Do you keep your children from the 47:13 world? Do you show your children you have to be different from the others? When my children came home with their bags when they were not looking I would open 47:32 their bags to see what all is inside. Don't do it when they're looking. They'll get angry with you. But when they are asleep or something open the bag. I wanted to see what did the other boys 47:51 give them to read or look at. Did they put something in here? If I something then I can correct them. But otherwise you'll never know what all they are learning in school. I was not at home most of the time. I 48:12 was traveling preaching the gospel. But my wife gave up her job completely to be at home with the children. We said it doesn't matter if you don't earn money. We must preserve our children for God. So every day when the children came back 48:37 from school my wife would be there and we'll talk to them every day. What happened in school today? Tell me everything. And like that she became friendly with them. And like that she could correct them if 48:59 they learned some wrong word or wrong habit. It's very important. If the father is not at home the mother must do that. To keep just like we keep ourselves we must keep our children so the evil one 49:18 does not touch them. What did we read? He who is born of God keeps himself. And in the early days our children are not born again. So they do not know how to keep themselves. 49:37 Today all my four sons are born again. They're all saved. They're all disciples of Jesus. They know how to keep themselves. Today I don't have to check their bags or anything now. They know how to keep themselves. 49:59 But now they have to check the bags of their children. We have to keep on doing that. Every generation there are people who are growing up to live for God. So it's very important. Your family is 50:17 like a boat. Your boat must not sink. And inside this boat is the father and mother are fighting with each other. That's like making a hole in the boat. And the water will come in. You both may know how to swim, but your 50:38 children will drown. The devil may not be able to get both of you as father and mother. But he will get your children. You know, so often we allow our children to see so many wrong things on 50:57 television. You say, "Oh, it's not so much. It's only 2 3 minutes." But that 2 3 minutes every day over a period of time 51:16 their mind is polluted with all the little little evil things you allowed them to see in some dirty serial or movie or something. Do you know that the entire cinema world 51:33 is controlled by Satan? I don't know whether you believe that. Whether it's Hollywood or Tollywood or Bollywood, whatever it is, it's all controlled by the devil. It's the devil wood. The whole thing is 51:51 the devil wood. You must remember that. Be careful. That they don't pollute your mind and the minds of your children. go astray. 52:11 That girl goes and marries some unbeliever she meets in college. And the boy goes off some work and he doesn't follow the Lord. Then you come to the elder brother. Brother, please pray for my child. But did you protect the child when he 52:32 was at home? Did you keep him from the evil one? Or you were not strict. You wanted to just please him and please please your sons and daughters. Let me use an example. 52:54 Supposing you go to a doctor. Doctor, there's some serious problem with my son. He's having very severe stomach problem. Doctor got He is groaning in pain. And he asks you. 53:15 Hey, doesn't seem to be anything wrong, but tell me what did you give him? Did you ever give him any bad thing in all these years? No, we used to give good food. Because he liked it, we used to give him 53:36 one only one small spoon of sweet poison. It was poison, but we mixed a lot of sugar in it. And the doctor said, "You gave poison to 53:55 your son." Every day. Are you a loving mother or what? No, doctor, it's only once. Not even tablespoon, teaspoon. Because the child was crying, "Give me 54:13 that. Give me that." And you gave that every day, the doctor says. Only a little bit. That is a picture of how you make your children watch little bit of television. No, there are good things like cricket 54:33 match and news and all that's okay. These little poisonous things that come in the cinemas. And the cereals. Every day, just one spoon. And ultimately they get spiritually 54:51 sick. And then you ask me what to do. And if I were the elder brother I I tell you, "Did you give your child any poison every day?" And now you're crying. Repent. 55:10 Ask God to forgive you for feeding your child with poison. Do you keep fighting with your husband and wife each other every day? You open the door for the devil. And then you're wondering, "How did the 55:29 devil get my children?" I'll tell you. Ephesians 4 What I just read verse 26 and 27 With anger you gave the devil a place in your home. And so it says in verse 31 55:53 You must put away all anger from your life. I told you I was defeated myself by anger. But I realized if I don't overcome this, I'm going to be opening the door to the devil in my home. And I prayed and I cried and I wept 56:17 before God. I said, "Lord, I want to come to a life where I'll never get angry 365 days of the year." 7 days a week 24 hours a day 56:38 never get angry. Except the people who make money in the name of religion. But about myself Somebody insulted me. Never get angry. 56:54 Food is not ready on time. Or the food is bad. What do you do when that happens? Supposing one morning you have to go to office and your wife did not make the food ready on time. What do you do? 57:17 Don't get angry. Say, "Lord pray. Lord, you see that I love food too much. So, today you've allowed my wife to help me to fast. Thank you. 57:37 Praise the Lord. Tell your wife, "Don't worry. Today I have to fast. I'm going to work." Your boat will not sink. But you make a big show there and get angry, you're going to sink your boat. These are practical things. 58:00 One more thing. Second Corinthians chapter 2 Another way in which you open the door for the devil. Verse 10. If you I have forgiven 58:18 everything in the presence of Christ. I've forgiven and you also forgiven. Otherwise verse 11, Satan will get a place in our heart. So these are the two places in scripture 58:39 I showed you where it says the devil will get a advantage and place. One is anger. The other is an unforgiving attitude. Somebody did some wrong to you. 58:59 Maybe your mother in law. Maybe your mother-in-law. Forgive. If you don't forgive even if your mother-in-law is the worst person in the world even if your mother-in-law is the worst person in the world forgive. 59:20 Otherwise who will suffer? Not her. You. Because the devil will get a place in your heart. Maybe your mother-in-law is unconverted. And the devil is already in her heart. 59:40 But if you get angry with If you get angry and don't forgive, the devil will come to your heart also. Maybe your boss is unconverted and he's The devil is already in him. But he does something wrong to you and 59:58 you don't forgive him. The devil gets a place in your heart.
