0:00 with many crowds. Crowded with many crowds, the Lamb upon His throne. 0:27 Hark, how the heavenly anthem drums, all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for Thee. And hail Him as Thy majesty through all eternity. 0:55 Crowded the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave. And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save. His glories now we sing, who died and rose on high. 1:22 Who died eternal life to bring and lives that death may die. Crowned in the Lord of life, behold His hands and side. Those who yet blitz ever above in beauty glorify. 1:48 No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight. But downward strength is burning up at mystery surprise. Crowned in the Lord of peace, who spar a scepter slays. 2:15 From pole to pole that wars may cease. There shall be prayer and praise, His reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. 2:41 His reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. My reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. His reign shall know no end. He shall know no end. 2:49 of yours, the potentate of time. Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably supply. All hail, Redeemer, hail, for Thou hast died for me. Thy praise shall never, never fail. 3:17 Thy praise shall never, never fail. Thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity. 3:42 I worship You to all my days. I'll raise my hands, I'll sing Your praise. Bless Your name and lift it high. With heart and soul and voice I cry. 4:08 Jesus, I worship You. Jesus, I worship You. I worship You, my God and my King. I worship You through all my days. Heavenly Father, you are so great and greatly to be praised. You didn't deal with us according to what we deserved. 22:08 But Lord, in that while we were eight sinners, you demonstrated your love towards us by sending Jesus Christ to die in our place. And you have made us your children, sons and daughters. We bless you. We worship you, Heavenly Father. 22:27 You are worthy to be praised. You are worthy to be honored and exalted. Above all, above all, over everything, Lord, you are the supreme. You rule over heaven and earth, and the whole universe belongs to you. 22:53 Lord, we bless you that you have given us this privilege to be called your children. Thank you this morning, dear brothers and sisters. Express your thanks, your praise, your gratitude to the Lord for all that he has done for us. 23:12 That he has provided for all our needs and kept us in health and given us everything pertaining to life and godliness. We bless you, Heavenly Father. We worship your majesty. We give you glory, honor, praise, Lord Jesus. 23:36 Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come and thy will be done on earth as is being done in heaven. For thine is the kingdom, the glory and the power, now and forevermore. We bless you in Jesus' precious name. Amen. Amen. 23:57 Please take your seats. Amen. Please take your seats. We will look at our memory verses. Last week we had a command from Colossians chapter 4 verse 5. Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders making the most of the opportunity. 24:32 And this week we have a promise from 2 Corinthians 1:22. He sealed us and gave us the spirit in our hearts as a pledge. 24:53 2 Corinthians 1:22. Let's say that again. He sealed us and gave us the spirit in our hearts as a pledge. 2 Corinthians 1:22. 25:14 This morning we are happy to have our dear brother Zach joining us in person over Zoom. And Brother Zayk, we welcome you. 25:40 Let's welcome him. Thank you for responding to our request. And thank you for being with us this morning. And now we hand it over to you. 26:01 Whatever God has placed in your heart, please share with the church. Thank you. Yeah, thank you, Charles. I want to greet all of you, dear brothers and sisters. It's so good to see you all again, even though it's at a distance 26:22 and your faces are very small. But I remember the days when I was there. I'm always reminded when I see this all full of people are the days when I used to meet with you. I can never forget it. They were unforgettable days. 26:41 All the 50 years I spent with CFC in Bangalore. So when we come to this time, I thought of some things from the end of the Old Testament, 27:04 which I want to share with you. And first of all, in the book of Zechariah and chapter 2. If you read the Old Testament, you know, throughout the Old Testament, 27:28 beginning with Noah, who was a prophet, right up to the last of the prophets, Ezekiel was one of the last. There was always only one prophet in Israel. You never find two prophets working together in Israel. 27:48 In the Old Testament, it was impossible for two people to work together. They would fight. They would compete. And that was part of the problem under the Old Covenant. And we must remember this. 28:09 When two brothers cannot work together, when two sisters cannot work together, they are under the Old Covenant. When a husband and wife can't work together, whatever you may say, you are under the Old Testament. You haven't come to the New Covenant. 28:28 Old Testament prophets were all like that. They could not work with one another. Everybody had to be alone. And sometimes, even when there was another prophet in some other part of the country, they would not be united with them. 28:44 And that is the mark of almost all churches today. It's very difficult to find two people becoming one. But, when you come to Zechariah, Haggai, Zechariah, who are the last prophets along with Malachi, towards the end of the Old Testament, 29:01 you find two prophets working together. Haggai and Zechariah worked together. One was an older person. Haggai and Zechariah was a younger man. But they could work together wonderfully. And they paved the way for the beginning 29:16 of the New Covenant. So, if you look, read the book of Zechariah with that in mind, that this is preparing the way for in a little while the New Covenant will begin. It would be a few hundred years, but they were the last prophets. 29:34 Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi. That is the end of the Old Covenant. And the Lord is preparing the way. So, just look at Zechariah chapter 2. You'll see in the book of Zechariah certain promises that apply to us in the church. 29:48 Okay, here's Zechariah chapter 2. Now, remember, Jerusalem is now going to be referring to the church. That's the New Jerusalem. Zechariah 2, verse 4. The Lord told the angel, go and run to this person and say, speak to that young man. 30:05 The young man was Zechariah. Jerusalem, that's the church, will be inhabited without walls. That means you can't put a wall around it because the old Jerusalem under the Old Covenant had a wall around it. Only so many people. 30:23 But now the walls would be broken down because we so many people wanting to come into part of the church. When I think of how CFC started with two families. My family and Brother Ian's family. 51 years ago. And when I see 30:40 what it is today, not only here, but around the world in so many countries. I say, you see this fulfilled. The church will be inhabited without any walls. Breaking out of walls and going fast out of Bangalore throughout India 30:56 to other countries. And there will be so many men and people coming into the church. We are running into thousands now. And the other thing the Lord says, there will be no need for a wall to protect. Jerusalem had a wall 31:10 around it in Israel to protect the city from attack. But he says, now you don't need anybody to protect you. I myself will be a wall, the Lord says, around the church and I'll be the glory in the midst of it. So, this is what we are. 31:31 We don't live in fear now. We don't need a physical wall to protect us from Satan or from human enemies. Yeah, the church has got human enemies also. But God himself says he'll be a wall of fire around us. I want all of you 31:47 to remember this, all of you, your families, pray that God will be a wall of fire around your family, a wall of fire around CFC, that anybody who comes to try to harm your family or the church, they have to come through that wall 32:02 of fire. and it's very difficult. You know, in the forest and all, where there are many lions, when people go trekking in the forest and they go to sleep at night, they put a lot of branches and twigs around them in a circle 32:19 and light it in a fire and they sleep in the middle and if they're sleeping in the middle of the fire, even a lion cannot come and disturb them at night. That's how people who trek in the mountains do. A wall of fire is a tremendous 32:35 protection and the Lord says, I'll be a wall of fire. The second thing the Lord says to the church and we must apply this to CFC, we are a new covenant church. We do not claim to be better than other people because I'll tell you 32:51 why. we do not compare ourselves with others. 1 Corinthians chapter 10, I don't have time to show you that, read it sometime. There is a verse that says, those who compare themselves with other people are foolish. Don't compare 33:10 yourself with other believers. Don't compare CFC with other churches. That's not our business. The Lord is the head of the church. He will decide what church is pleasing to him and what church is not. We believe that we are 33:27 trying to follow the New Testament pattern, though we disagree with so many things in other churches, but I will not say we are better than them. That's not my business to say. I will publicly say I disagree with them. I will say a 33:41 lot of things that other churches teach, like in the area of money, is completely against God's word. For example, Jesus never took an offering in his entire life, so we never take an offering, but every other church takes 33:52 offerings. We disagree with it, but we are not here to judge them. No, we don't compare ourselves with them. We don't say we are better than them. We say we want to please the Lord. Let the Lord in the final day decide which church 34:08 pleased him and which church did not. I will tell you this, if any of you get puffed up saying we are better than others, God's grace will depart from you, not from the church. It will depart from you because of your pride. 34:26 So be careful. Don't become proud and say I am better than others or our church is better than others. That is not our business. The Lord is the one who examines every heart. Our duty is to be faithful to the Lord and to always 34:41 remain humble before him to get grace for him. We are not to compare ourselves with others. Please remember that verse in 1 Corinthians 10. Those who compare themselves with others are foolish. Okay, so here is another thing 34:57 the Lord says in verse 8. First of all, he's a wall of fire around the waters, verse 5. And verse 8, the Lord says, the last part, if anyone touches you or tries to harm you, the Lord says he touching the apple of my eye. 35:15 He's using a human example. Do you know that the most delicate part of your body is your eye? Other parts of your body, if you scratch it or wound it, it will hurt. But there's no part of your body that will hurt if you 35:34 touch it. Touch any part of your body, you don't hurt. But your eye is so sensitive, you don't know how to cut it. You touch it, it will hurt. The eye is unique in your body. And the Lord says, the Lord doesn't actually have 35:51 an eye, but he's saying, to use a human illustration, anyone who tries to touch you is going to touch the apple of my eye, the Lord says. And I will immediately react. You know, if somebody touches your eye, what will happen? 36:05 Even accidentally, even if a little child touches your eye, immediately, unconsciously, your hand goes out and hits you. And the Lord says, I will do the same thing if anybody tries to touch you or harm you. I tell you, we 36:18 live under tremendous protection in the new covenant. So, dear brothers, your families, husband and wife, please don't fight with each other. Love one another. The Lord himself will be a wall of fire around about you. The next 36:36 thing I want you to see is in Zechariah chapter 3. These are all preparation for the new covenant, remember, which is just going to come in a few hundred years when Christ will come. First, I told you that two prophets working together, 36:51 Agai and Zechariah. Then these promises I just quoted. And now, in Zechariah 3.1, he talks about Joshua. Joshua is another way of saying Jesus. The word Joshua is Savior, Jesus. And Jesus is the Greek word. Joshua is a Hebrew 37:09 word. The high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. And in this, it's a picture of us. We are the body of Christ. So here is a believer. Joshua is a picture of a believer. And the angel of the Lord, angel means 37:27 messenger. The messenger of the Lord is Jesus Christ. And Satan standing at the right hand of this high priest to accuse him. So here are three people in verse 1. One is a believer, Joshua. The second is the angel of the Lord 37:44 or the messenger of the Lord, which is Jesus Christ, standing on one side and Satan standing there to accuse us. And then the heavenly father from the throne says, the Lord rebuke you, Satan. I have chosen this church and 38:00 this person. And the Lord who has chosen him rebukes you. And it acknowledges in verse 3 that we as believers, verse 3, are clothed with filthy garments, which means there's no believer who's completely free from sin. The best 38:21 believer in the world has got some filth in his garment. What does that mean? That means we have not become 100% like Jesus Christ. The only person who can have completely clean garment is the one who's 100% like Jesus Christ. 38:34 Nobody's there. Every one of us, to greater or lesser degree, there's sin in us. If we walk with the Lord, that sin will become less and less and less and less and less and less as we walk with the Lord. But still, there'll be 38:47 something remaining until Christ comes again. And so, that little thing which is unchrist like in us, the devil is pointing to that. And the devil is saying, God, see this person, there's something unchrist like in him. 39:04 That is the meaning of verse 3, clothed in filthy garments. And so, the voice from heaven says, take away that filthy garment from him, verse 4. Remember this, my brothers and sisters. The voice from heaven is always out to 39:20 cleanse you. I have, verse 4, middle, I have taken away your sin and I'm going to clothe you with the righteousness of Christ. You see that in verse 4? You've got to see this and see what a wonderful position we are in in the 39:36 new covenant. And then, Zachariah, who is seeing all this, Zachariah is a young man. He's a very young prophet. Haggai was the older prophet. And when Zachariah sees how Jesus is covering up the filth in his child and 39:57 clothing him with a new garment, Zachariah gets excited and says, Lord, not only a new garment, but put a clean turban on his head also. He is cooperating with Jesus in making this believer glorious. Think of that statement 40:11 which I just said. cooperating with Jesus to make your fellow believer glorious. That is the opposite of what many believers do. They cooperate with Satan to accuse their fellow believers. Do you do that? 40:32 Do you cooperate with Satan to accuse your husband or to accuse your wife because she's not perfect? You're not perfect yourself or he's not perfect. You're not perfect yourself. There's nobody perfect. And this is the picture here. 40:49 Does your wife have filthy garments? Yes. Does your husband have filthy garments? Yes. Do I have filthy garments? Yes. Because I'm not completely like Christ. But I don't live in condemnation. Don't condemn one another. 41:03 Be like Zachariah who when he saw the Lord putting a clean garment on this person who was filthy removing the filth. Zachariah said, let me make him more glorious. Our job is to make our fellow believers more glorious. Are you 41:21 doing that? Or are you cooperating with Satan to accuse and find fault and some small little thing here, some small little thing there, some speck in the eye when there's a beam in your own eye? This is what we need to repent of. 41:37 We need to learn to cooperate with the Lord Jesus as Zachariah did. So I say, whenever a believer is standing here, there are two ministries going on. One is the ministry of Satan called the ministry of accusation. God, 41:54 this thing is wrong in him. This thing is wrong in him. This thing is wrong in him. Anybody who speaks like that, finding a fault with your husband, your wife, or a brother is doing the work of the devil. So what should you 42:09 do? What do you do if your little child is dirty? Say you got a two-year-old who's dirty, played in the mud. Do you just tell him he's dirty? Is that a good father or a good mother? No. A good father and mother will take him to 42:26 the washroom and wash him and put a new dress on him. That is love. But a neighbor or somebody who doesn't like you will say, look at your child, so dirty. So there you can see whether you belong to the family or you're 42:41 a neighbor. If you see people in the church as your family, if you find something wrong, you'll try to help them to overcome it. But if you're not a member of the family, you'll just criticize them. You think of that in 42:56 your own family. If your child is dirty, your neighbor will criticize, but you won't criticize your own child. You go and clean it up and wash it off and put a new dress on him. That's what we see here. Let them put a clean 43:09 table on his head. So from there we go on to chapter 4. And in chapter 4 we see a picture of the church. Verse 2. A lamp stand all of gold, pure, because it's clothed with the righteousness of Christ. 43:29 And there are lamps on each side. There are seven lamps, the picture of perfection. And how is it, you know, lamps in those days needed oil. Today we have electricity, but those days it was oil. And it was not that somebody came 43:47 and poured the oil every now and then into the lamp, because then you had to keep on pouring it. Here it says there were two olive trees by the side of this bowl and from the olive trees on the left side and right side oil was 44:04 flowing into this bowl all the time, so the lamps continued to burn. It was a continuous supply of oil from the olive oil, from the olive trees, into this church, this lamp stand, all of gold, verse 2. And oil is being supplied, this 44:24 is a picture of the Holy Spirit, continuously supplying his power so that we can burn and then the Lord describes that in verse 6 like this. The last part of verse 6, it's not by human might or by human power, not by cleverness 44:45 or intelligence or power, it is by my Holy Spirit, says the Lord. See, that is how this church, CFC is going to burn, burn as a flame for the Lord, with every believer sitting here, all of you, seeking God and say, Lord, just 45:05 like the olive tree there beside poured oil into the lamps, keep my lamp burning with the oil of the Holy Spirit every day, continuously. Nobody has to come and pour anything, I'm directly connected to the Holy Spirit. and it 45:24 is not by human power or might. And then in this way, the Lord says in verse 7, one day, the final stone, he's talking about the building of the church like a building now, will be put on top saying, grace, grace, grace. 45:40 You know, in the Old Testament, there was no grace. We read in John chapter 1 that grace came through Jesus Christ. But here, it's mentioned grace, it's talking about the future. There's a day coming, which are referring to 45:53 the church. The top stone will be, the last person will be added to the church, and the church will be complete, and the shout will always be grace, grace, grace to it. That's what we need to pray for one another also. When we 46:10 see something incomplete in another brother, pray that he'll have grace, instead of finding fault with him. The devil is quick at finding fault. I'll tell you one thing, brothers and sisters, the devil does not need your 46:24 help to find fault with somebody. Please remember that. Say to yourself, the devil does not need my help to find fault with anybody in this church. Say that to yourself so many times that it'll sink into your mind, the devil 46:39 does not need my help to find fault with anybody in the church. He does it himself. But Jesus needs someone who will pray with him and shout grace, grace to that person. Wonderful example. And then we move on. 47:01 Let's turn to another chapter now. Chapter 8. Zachariah and chapter 8. In Zachariah chapter 8, we read in 47:22 verse 21. The inhabitants of one, Zachariah 8. 21. Remember, this is all preparing for the new covenant. We'll go to another and say, let's go at once and treat the favor of the Lord and seek the Lord of the Lord. I will 47:39 also go. And like that, people and mighty nations will all come to seek the Lord in the church to entreat the favor of the Lord. And that's what we have seen in the last 50 years. People from many nations wanting to know, 47:57 what did the Lord do in Bangalore? I'd like to know a little more about CFC. And that is how the Lord has spread his word and how CFC churches have been planted. in so many countries today is exactly fulfillment of this. 48:13 People from many nations, mighty nations, mightier than India will come and seek the Lord to know how this church is built, to entreat the same grace from God for themselves. It should not make us proud. If it makes you 48:28 proud, God will remove his grace from you. God gives his grace only to the humble. So when you see how much God has done for us, it must make us fall on our face before God and say, Lord, you alone are worthy. And then the Lord 48:42 says in verse 23, in those days, ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a believer and say, let us go with you. Let me come to CFC and see, because we have heard that God is with you there in Bangalore. We want 49:00 to know what it's like. Amazing. That should be our testimony. We don't boast about it. It's what God has done. And we have seen through the years how people have come like that. It's a fulfillment of prophecy. And in the midst 49:19 of this, I want you to see another verse in chapter 8 and verse 5, which is a very interesting verse. How about the children in the church? The children in the church are very happy in the church. That's what we see here 49:30 in Zechariah 8. The streets of the city, that is of this church, will be filled with boys and girls playing. Not praying. They pray, of course. But the playing means they are so happy here. That's the point. It's not that they 49:49 don't pray. But a church full, Zechariah 8, verse 5, full of children who are happy with each other. We want to be a church like that. It's wonderful. Read the book of Zechariah like that and see how the Lord is prophesying 50:06 this is what Jerusalem will be like in the last days. Okay, let's move on. I don't have time to look at all the verses, but next time you read the book of Zechariah, see it as a picture of the future of the church. And of 50:21 course, Jerusalem will be attacked. We read that in Zechariah chapter 12, the devil will attack and so many people will come and attack Jerusalem, it says in verse 2 and 3, but we'll overcome. It says here in Zechariah chapter 14, 50:43 in the final day when the Lord returns, I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle chapter 14 verse 2. As we approach the end of time, let me 51:03 say this plainly, Christians will be persecuted. I don't want to hide it from you. It's going to happen. It's going to happen in India. It's going to happen in the most Christian countries or non-Christian countries. It doesn't 51:18 make a difference. Jerusalem, all the nations will be against the church. But then the Lord will go forth, verse 3, Zechariah 14, 3, and fight for his people. Wonderful. And then finally one day, Jesus will return, verse 4, 51:39 14, 4. God bless. 52:13 God bless. 52:43 God bless. 53:13 God bless. 53:43 God bless. 54:13 God bless. 54:43 God bless. Once I hoped in Jesus, now I know he's mine. Once my lamps were dying, now they brightly shine. 55:04 once for death I waited, now his coming hail, and my hopes are anchored safe within the way. All in all 55:25 forever, Jesus will I say. Jesus will I say. Everything in Jesus, and Jesus everything. 55:47 Jesus Savior. Wonderful Savior, Wonderful Savior, Thou art more than life to me. Jesus Savior, 56:11 Wonderful Savior, Thou art more than life to me. I will love than life to be. I will love The Lord forever. Thou was crucified 56:32 for me. With Thy blood Thou hast redeemed me. I will love The Lord forever. Thou art more than life to be. Jesus Savior, wonderful Savior, Wonderful Savior, 56:52 Thou art more than life to me. Jesus Savior, Wonderful Savior, Thou art more than life to me. Thou art more 57:12 than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. 57:25 Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more 57:40 than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. 57:56 Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more 58:11 than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. 58:25 Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more king over all the earth. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. 58:40 Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more than life to be. Thou art more 58:55 than life to be. In that day, holiness will be everywhere. It says in verse 21 of chapter 14, even the cooking pots will be holy. And there's a very interesting phrase in the end of Zechariah 14:21. There'll no longer be a Canaanite 59:14 or as the margin of my Bible says, a merchant, a businessman. There'll be no more. Canaanite is a phrase for a businessman. There'll be no businessmen in the church. That means people who are out to make money. Today, Christendom 59:31 is full of people who are out to make money. Preachers, pastors, and all types of people with so many schemes to make money from people passing offering bags around. Some churches, they pass an offering bag two or three times. 59:45 So covetous. But in that day, there'll be no businessmen. Nobody who's interested in money. But the Lord is preparing that by preparing a people now who are not interested in money, but who are interested in the Lord. God and money 59:59 are two opposites. Please remember this. You cannot worship both. If you worship God, you cannot worship money. And that's one of the things we have stressed for the last 51 years. In the church, we have stood for it. Never asked anybody 1:00:14 for money. Never passed an offering background all of you. Trust God. This whole building that you're sitting in was built without asking a single person for one paisa. God provided. You're sitting in a testimony of God's provision 1:00:32 and God can do the same for you if you pray. That's how we proceeded in this church. And those who have with us from the beginning know that is true. Okay. Now we go to the next book which is the book of Malachi. And there, 1:00:51 this is a chapter with which we began in our church in the early days. Zechariah chapter 1. And the message the Lord brought us, brought to us at that time was you are offering, you know, the Lord is telling the Christians in general. 1:01:09 I'm talking about 51 years ago. That Christendom in general is offering to the Lord cheap sacrifices. That means sacrifices which cost them nothing. So that's the point here. Zechariah, sorry, Malachi chapter 1 verse 8 middle. 1:01:29 Sorry, Malachi 1:8. Why are you presenting a blind lamb or a lame ox? Verse 8. They were supposed to offer oxen and lambs and sheep and goats. But they were picking out from their flock the ones that are about to die. Or something that is 1:01:49 lame or blind. Let's offer that to the Lord. They were supposed to offer the best of their flock. But they were offering what is cheap. And saying, this is how it is going to be in the last days again. Malachi is also talking 1:02:02 about the last days. There will be people who will give to God but it will be a cheap offering. It's like people who live their entire life for the world. And then when they are about to die, they say, Lord, here's my life. 1:02:17 Can I do something for you? No. In our church, we have taught don't wait till you retire before you give your life to the Lord. Young people, give your life to the Lord now and live 100% for God from the time you're young. 1:02:34 I came, gave my life to the Lord when I was 19 and I decided to live wholeheartedly for the Lord and I quit my job when I was 26 in order to serve the Lord full time. I've been doing that for 60 years. Never asked anybody 1:02:47 in the world for money. Never sent out any prayer letters asking for any such thing. We, because I saw the value of this. This is what the Lord, remember the word the Lord gave us at that time was don't offer to the Lord 1:03:01 that which has cost you nothing. These offerings which these people were giving, it didn't cost them anything in Malachi 1:8. The lame and the sick and the youth, the thing was about to die in any case, before it died they said 1:03:14 let's give the sheep as an offering to the Lord. So when believers give that is cheap to the Lord. The Lord says, will you give a cheap offering to your governor when you want to give a gift to somebody who's important, 1:03:26 do you give something cheap? why do you give something cheap to me? God gives the best to those who give him the best. Please remember this little phrase. God will give the best to those who give him the best of their life. 1:03:45 So this is what he's saying and he says here, I wish the priests, verse 10, I wish the priests would shut the gates of the temple so that you don't accept such third rate lame sick offerings. But the Lord says, here is the promise 1:03:59 the Lord gave us 51 years ago. From the east to the west, all over the world, from the rising of the sun to its setting, that means, from one end of the world to the other end of the world, my name will be great. And a pure offering 1:04:16 will be offered. An offering that is pure. What is pure? That which costs sacrifice. An offering that costs you sacrifice is a pure offering. And that is the word in Malachi. And then finally, 1:04:36 I want you to go to the last chapter of Malachi. Malachi and the last chapter. Chapter 4. You see what it says in the last few verses. Verse 5. I'm going to send you Elijah the prophet. That is, 1:04:56 the church is going to preach in the power of Elijah. So when you think of Elijah, he was a man who stood against all the 850 false prophets. So the church will be like that. There will be 850 false teachings and one church will stand up against that. 1:05:13 And the Lord stood by Elijah. That day he killed those prophets. Today we don't kill anybody. But we expose the error in 850 churches and proclaim the truth. We will not offer to God that which costs us nothing. 1:05:33 And, it talks about the importance of family life in verse 6. The last verse in the Old Testament is about family life. Throughout the Old Testament, there is no emphasis on family life. Moses' family life was pathetic. 1:05:50 Elijah didn't have a family life. Elisha did not have family life. And, we don't know about any of the other families. The prophets could not say, look at my family. Samuel, for example, he had two sons who grew up to take bribes. 1:06:11 Samuel was the greatest prophet. But his sons, two sons grew up to take bribes. Family life was pathetic in the Old Testament. Now, it's going to be different. Fathers and children, their hearts will be linked to each other. 1:06:27 The hearts of the fathers will be restored to the children. The hearts of the children to the fathers. And I hope that will happen in your family. The children will love and respect their parents. Parents will love and care for their children. 1:06:41 There will be a unity and a bond. This is the last verse of the Old Testament. And if it does not, because it did not happen in the Old Testament days, it says, he smites the land with a curse. Isn't it interesting? That the last word of the Old Testament is what? 1:06:59 Did you know what is the last word of the Old Testament? Curse. That's where the law brought people. But when you come to the last verse of the New Testament, you know what that is? In Revelation 22, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 1:07:20 That is the difference between Old Testament and New Testament. Old Testament ends with curse. But the New Testament ends in Revelation chapter 22 with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. 1:07:47 The last verse. See the difference between the curse and grace. It's very interesting when you see these things. And what is the prayer that we should be praying? That is in the second last verse of the New Testament. The Lord says, I am coming quickly. 1:08:06 What should we do? Don't just sit back and say, he's coming. You must say, yes, Lord. Amen means, yes, Lord. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. How many of you are praying, Lord Jesus, come back soon. This world is sinking more and more into sin. 1:08:24 We want to be a pure church and a testimony for you. Come back soon. Help us to be faithful to you until the end. So this is the message that the Lord gave to us. And so in the New Covenant, what is this grace that is spoken of? 1:08:46 I'm going to turn you to, first of all, John chapter 1. It's very important. In John's gospel, chapter 1. It's a very important chapter because you see here about what the New Testament church is like. In John chapter 1, verse 1, John is a very important gospel. 1:09:06 John's gospel. Why is Jesus Christ called the Word? In the beginning was the Word. Referring to Jesus. And the Word was with God, the Son of God. And he was God. Because God is in three persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 1:09:26 Very difficult for us to understand. You know why we can't understand? Just like a little child cannot understand mathematics. A little child cannot understand science. There are many things in science I cannot understand. 1:09:38 But it doesn't mean it's wrong. It just means my mind is too small to understand it. God is much greater. We cannot understand how three persons can be one God. But it is true. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All equally God, but one. 1:09:53 Three in one. This is a mystery. There's no other religion that even claims it. Jesus is called the Word. Why is Jesus called the Word? When you speak a word, please listen carefully. When you speak a word, you're giving expression to the invisible thought in your mind. 1:10:13 If I've got a thought which I want to tell you, you cannot see it. You cannot hear it. But when I speak it, that invisible thought becomes visible. That's why Jesus is called the Word. The invisible God became visible. The invisible God became visible. 1:10:33 And that's why he's called this invisible God became visible. And he's called the Word. And then it says further down in John's Gospel in chapter 1. And verse 14. And verse 14. The Word became flesh. 1:10:55 Came as a human being. And lived among us for 33 and a half years. And we saw his glory. The glory of the Father. And there's a balance in the glory of God. Grace and truth. If we had only truth, we'd all feel condemned. 1:11:17 If we only had grace, we could take advantage of God's goodness. God shows us truth. And gives us grace to live according to that standard. He doesn't lower the standard. But he gives us grace to live according to that standard. 1:11:33 So truth speaks of God's absolute standard. Higher than anything in the Old Testament. And grace speaks of his ability to help us to live according to that standard. This is the New Testament message. Grace and truth manifested through Jesus Christ. 1:11:50 And in John 1, it says in verse 17. The Old Testament was a law which condemned people. But the New Testament, verse 17. Grace and truth. See the balance again. The standard of God, the absolute truth. And the grace of God to help us to live according to the standard. 1:12:11 Came through Jesus Christ. Please remember, brothers and sisters. Don't lower the standard of truth. No. We in church, in the CFC, we maintain the standard of truth, the standard God has put. But we also proclaim that God will give us grace to live by that standard. 1:12:31 Day by day by day. As we walk with the Lord, our grace will become more and more. Ask God to give you grace. Ask God to give you grace. And the Bible says God gives grace to the humble. If you don't get grace to overcome sin, please let me tell you in Jesus' name, the reason is you are proud. 1:12:53 You are proud of something. You are proud of something. That's why you are not overcoming sin. Don't say I am weak. My father had this temperament. My mother, it's all rubbish. There is only one reason why you cannot control your temper. 1:13:05 There is only one reason why you get angry. There is only one reason why you lust after women. There is only one reason why you fight with people. You are proud. P-R-O-U-D. P-R-I-D-E. That is the only reason. God gives his grace to the humble. 1:13:26 He resists the proud. And if God resists the proud, that's 1 Peter 5 verse 5, you cannot overcome sin. Imagine trying to overcome sin when God himself is fighting against you. The Bible says God fights against those who are proud. 1:13:41 That is why we constantly preach in CFC. Humble yourself. Humble yourself. Because God gives grace to the humble. Or to picture it another way. God will stand in front of you and push you back if you are proud. But if you are humble, God will get behind you and push you forward. 1:13:58 Which do you want? If you are proud, God will stand in front of you and push you back. If you are humble, God will get behind you and push you forward. That's a pictorial way of saying it. God gives grace to the humble, but he resists the proud. 1:14:13 And so, John 1:17, this grace and truth, the balance of grace and truth, never forget it. Don't always think of grace. Think of truth and grace together, two legs. You must have God's standard, that is one leg. And you must believe that grace will help you to live by that standard, that's the other leg. 1:14:31 When you walk steadily, when both your legs are equal length. God's standard, God's grace. And then it says, today we are not under law. God didn't just give commandments, he's given us grace. And then it says here about Jesus, the only begotten God. 1:14:53 No one has seen God, but he's manifested himself in Jesus Christ, verse 18. And he's in the bosom, the chest of the father. That means, you know, like you embrace a friend. He's attached to your bosom. Bosom means the breast, the chest of the father. 1:15:13 Now, some people have called it the lap. That is a false teaching. That Jesus is sitting on the lap of the father. He's not a baby. And he tells you to sit on the lap of the father. I'm sorry to say, I've heard some people preach that. 1:15:26 That we are to sit in the lap of God. No. We are to be embraced. The Bible says that in John chapter, in the time of the last supper, John 13. John the apostle was leaning on the bosom of Jesus on his breast. He wasn't sitting on his lap. 1:15:47 So this, it says here that Jesus was embraced by the father to his chest. And he embraces us also to his chest. This is how we are supposed to live. He calls us to be embraced by him. So this is our calling as a church. 1:16:04 To manifest the life of Jesus. And that is why he gives us the Holy Spirit. So this is the other thing we have proclaimed in the church. John's Gospel, if you turn with me to chapter 14. John 14. It's one of the most difficult statements you read here. 1:16:26 Read carefully. John 14 verse 15. We have proclaimed this throughout the 51 years of CFC. If you love me, you will keep my commandments. There is no other proof of your love for Christ. You will say, I love Jesus Christ. 1:16:44 And the Lord says, if you love me, you will obey me. There is only one proof that you love Jesus Christ. Only one. And that is you obey his commandments. If you don't obey God's word, don't ever say that you love Jesus. 1:17:03 Emotion. It's a lie. Only one proof. That you love Jesus. That you obey him. Obey his commandments. But. Then you say, how in the world can I do it? That's why in the very next verse is the answer. Very next verse is the answer. 1:17:21 Read scripture together. Verse 15 leads on to verse 16. I know the commandments are difficult. The Lord anticipates what you're going to say. When you hear about keeping his commandments, you say, Lord, that's difficult. 1:17:36 Ah, I will ask the father. He'll give you a helper. Another helper means I am here as a helper. Another helper is the Holy Spirit. Verse 17, the spirit of truth. That is the helper. He will help you to keep the commandments. 1:17:51 Verse 15 and 16 together. What is this helper coming for? Because you said the commandments are so difficult. Verse 15. Okay. I'll give you a helper to help you keep the commandments. It's like we teach our children how to walk. 1:18:07 One day you get a little bicycle for your little child. And teach him how to ride a bicycle. A few years later you put him in the seat of a car. And teach him how to drive a car. That is how the Lord teaches us also. Step by step by step by step. 1:18:21 He is a help. The Holy Spirit is a helper. That's why we need to ask God to fill us with the Holy Spirit. And if you are without the power of the Holy Spirit. Verse 18, you are like an orphan. You know what an orphan is? 1:18:38 No father, no mother. Wandering around, insecure. Every insecure Christian is an orphan. By my dear brother, sister. You are not supposed to be without a father and mother. Even if your earthly father or mother died. The Lord says, you will not be an orphan because I will be your father. 1:19:00 Any of you, your fathers have died. Let me tell you in Jesus name. God is a better father than any father you could have had on earth. I will not leave you as orphans. Please remember that all your life. God is your father. 1:19:20 And he will help you to keep his commandments. And so, this is the thing that we must bear in mind as we all come together. And, you know, in the New Testament, the other thing that's emphasized greatly, which we have emphasized in the church, is our home life. 1:19:47 There was no emphasis on home life in the Old Testament. Zero. But in the New Testament, please see when it talks about being filled with the Holy Spirit. There's one verse in Ephesians 5. I want you to see this. Ephesians 5 and verse 18. 1:20:08 It's a great verse. Ephesians 5. Maybe, first of all, I'll begin with verse 17, so that we can understand it. Ephesians 5:17. 1:20:28 Don't be foolish. I'm telling everybody sitting here, in the name of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit says, "Don't be a fool." Ephesians 5:17. Don't be a fool. Who's the fool? The one who does not understand what the will of the Lord is. 1:20:49 Verse 17. If you understand the will of the Lord is, then you're not a fool. But if you don't understand the will of the Lord, you're a fool. I don't care what other information you have, or how clever you are. If you don't understand God's will for your life, you're a fool. 1:21:06 And then it tells us in the next verse, what God's will is. God's will is, don't get drunk with wine, but be filled with the Holy Spirit. That is God's will. For you. So don't be foolish. But understand what the will of the Lord is, which is that you must be filled with the Holy Spirit continuously. 1:21:29 And in the original Greek, from which this word is translated, the latter part of verse 18 is, "Be being filled." Did you got it? Be being filled with the Holy Spirit. That means be continuously filled with the Holy Spirit. 1:21:44 It's not just once for all, I got it and I got it. No. You know, like we have to keep on drinking water. Because otherwise you'll get thirsty. There's not a single day when you should stop drinking water. We must drink seven, eight glasses of water every day at least. 1:21:59 We must drink water like that, be filled with the Holy Spirit. And when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, one of the things that will happen is a wonderful family life. Because chapter 5, verse 22 onwards, all the way to chapter 6, 1:22:17 is all about family life, family life, family life. Which is not there in the Old Testament. Why could it not be in there? Why did husbands and wives fight in the Old Testament? They could not be filled with the Holy Spirit. 1:22:28 But when you're filled with the Holy Spirit, it says, first of all, we'll praise the Lord, verse 19. We'll give thanks for everything, verse 20. There'll be no complaining in our life. And we will be subject to one another. 1:22:40 We'll be willing to humble ourselves. Look at these wonderful results of being filled with the Holy Spirit. A spirit of praise, verse 19. Spirit of thanksgiving, verse 20. And humility in subjecting to one another. And the fear of God, verse 21. 1:22:58 And then, family life. Wives and husbands. A wife must subject herself to a husband like the body subjects itself to the head. And the husband is to be the head of the wife. So what does that mean? I want to share this to all family members here. 1:23:19 Think of your husband-wife relationship like head and body. Now let me ask you a question. Does the head care for the body? If there's an injury on my right hand, the head is immediately aware of it and tells the other left hand to go and put some medicine there and cure it. 1:23:41 It is immediate. Even if an ant comes and sits on my hand, the head is immediately aware of it. Tells the other hand to wipe it off. Think if you're a husband like that. A husband who is immediately aware of something that's troubling your wife. 1:23:59 Maybe some little ant is troubling my wife. I mean, spiritually speaking. Small little problem. And the husband is so sensitive that he's immediately aware of it. Head and body. Sometimes people think husband is head of, like the head of department. 1:24:20 In an office, the head of department, who orders all the people in the office. It's not head of department. No. Husband is not the head of the department. He's head of a body. That's how a husband and wife must be in the new covenant. 1:24:35 And the wife is glad to submit to such a wonderful head. See, which wife will not subject to a husband who's so concerned about her that even if an ant bites her, he's concerned about it. See, if an ant bites my hand, this head immediately comes and knocks off that hand. 1:24:55 What a wonderful testimony to be a husband like that. Concerned about small things that are bothering your wife. What can I do, darling, to help you? Always concerned about helping, helping, concerned. And the wife, like the body, gladly submitting to such a head. 1:25:12 We want families like that in CFC. Husbands and wives like that, who care for one another, love one another, and who are a testimony, and who we read further down in the chapter and goes on in chapter one. In one sentence, it says about one word to each husband and wife. 1:25:34 The last verse of 33. Ephesians 5:33. One thing a husband must do. Love your wife like you love yourself. Do you love yourself? Ephesians 5:33. You don't want to get hurt, don't hurt your wife. 1:26:03 What must the wife do? The wife must respect her husband. Do you know what a husband wants from a wife primarily? Not obedience, respect. What does a wife want from her husband? 1:26:24 Love. A love that is expressed. Not just hidden in the heart, but expressed. Then, from such a family can come children. Chapter six, verse one. Children who will obey their parents. And parents who bring up, verse four, their children in discipline and instruction of the Lord. 1:26:49 There are two things every father, father primarily. All of you fathers, if you've got children here. Ask yourself. Are you bringing up your children in discipline and instruction of the discipline? Because they must be taught to obey. 1:27:10 I've often used that story. When should you teach a child to obey? When it is one year old. I saw a child once in a home. One year old. Going near a staircase. Crawling, crawling to the staircase. 1:27:30 And the father sitting at the back knew it is dangerous. He said no. Loudly. And the child got a jolt and looked around. And saw the stern face of the father. And did not go up the staircase. Crawled back. Quietly. Understood the word no. 1:27:48 The first word a child must learn. Is the meaning of the word no. I learnt it that day. I learnt it that day. I'll tell you why. The next. Another time. When I was. Next day or so. I saw in that house. The same child. Going to the same staircase. 1:28:10 And looking around. To see if anybody is watching it. Why was that? Because it knew I'm not supposed to go up the staircase. Yesterday daddy told me. He can't explain all that. But he knows in his mind. Daddy told me yesterday. 1:28:26 I should not go up the stairs. But. My nature is such. To disobey my parents. That one year old child. Wanted to disobey. But looked around. And saw daddy watching. So did not go up. What I learnt that day is. Even a one year old child. 1:28:44 Can remember. When it says no. So the first word. Children must learn. From parents. Is the word no. You. Not permitted to do that. Teach your children that. So that they learn to obey. 1:29:04 Bring them up. In the discipline. Verse 4. And instruction of the Lord. Instruction alone is not enough. Discipline means. Sometimes you have to. Punish them in some way. Sometimes a spanking. Sometimes say. If you are old enough. 1:29:19 You say. Go and lie down in your bed. You can't play games today. With your brothers or sisters. That's also a punishment. So this is how. We build the church. With families. And one more thing. I want to say. And that is. 1:29:35 Such a family. Is then. Going to have to. Stand against the devil. Verse 11. Chapter 6. Verse 11. Stand firm. Against the schemes of the devil. Because we fight. Not against human beings. Flesh and blood. Means human beings. 1:29:55 We never fight. With human beings. We fight. Against all these. Evil forces. Of wickedness. But. We are going to get the victory. We stand. Having overcome. All. We will stand. 1:30:16 That's what it says. In verse 13. Having done everything. Resisting. We will stand firm. And. Verse 18. Pray for one another. So I trust that. We have. Learned something. That we need to. Bear in mind. 1:30:36 In the coming days. As a church. May the Lord help us. And when you see a weakness. In your partner. Be patient. Patience. Is one of the great virtues. In the new covenant. So I will close that. With that verse. Please turn with me. 1:30:56 To James. James chapter one. James chapter one. James chapter one. I want to read it. From the King James version. King James version. Is one of the original. translations of the Bible. And King James version. 1:31:17 Reads like this. In James chapter one. Verse four. You got that verse. Let patience. Have a perfect work in you. So that you will be perfect. And complete. Lacking in nothing. 1:31:37 What a wonderful thing that is. You can come to a life. Where you will be lacking in nothing. Lacking in nothing means. Complete and perfect. How does it happen. If you learn patience. Endurance means patience. That means. 1:31:57 Bear with the weakness of others. Be patient. Be patient with your wives. Wives. Be patient with your husbands. Be patient. With difficult people. Stand for the truth. Yes. But be patient. So that. They may take time. To come up to your standard. 1:32:16 When you see a brother. Or sister in the church. Who does not have the life. That you have. Be patient. Till that person comes to your level. Be patient. That's the greatest exhortation. For an older brother. Older sister. 1:32:30 All for a father or mother. So this is what I want to share. With you dear brothers. I pray that. Many of you will. We need many many. Under shepherds. Not just. Elders and facilitators. But much younger ones. Also. Who are helping. 1:32:51 The others who are younger to them. You teenagers. You who are 18 and 19 years old. Have you ever thought of encouraging. Those. Nine. Ten year old children. Around you. You can communicate. More easily. To those nine. Ten year olds. 1:33:09 Than some older. 35 year old man. You who are. Young teenagers. 17, 18, 19 years old. Look around for some. Child who's seven, eight, nine. Of the same sex. Boys and boys. And girls to girls. Encourage them. Go and play with them. 1:33:27 Encourage them. Let them know. That in the church. I have older brothers. And older sisters. Who care for me. What a wonderful testimony. That will be. If. You know. In a family. How the older brothers. And sisters. Will play with the younger ones. 1:33:41 Let our whole church. Be like that. Where the older. 18, 19 year old. Brothers. Will pray with the younger boys. And the 18, 19 year old sisters. Will play with the younger girls. What a wonderful church. We will be. If you are like that. 1:33:54 I pray. It will be true. And you parents. Please encourage. Your teenage daughters. And sons. To look for someone. Of their own sex. Younger ones. To encourage them. Play with them. And not to always hang around. With people. 1:34:10 Your own age. If you're always hanging around. With. You're a teenager. You're always hanging around. Ten teenagers. To have fellowship with them. But also. Take five minutes. To encourage somebody. Why not try and do that. 1:34:24 And even older people. When you see a child. Please encourage. The little children. In our midst. Say one kind word. To them. Ask them. What is your name? Speak some words. Of kindness to them. It's a very. Very good habit. 1:34:42 And don't. Say you'll do it tomorrow. Do it today. Today. So brothers. That's. Being the burden. On my heart. And. We'll just. Bow in prayer now. Let's close our eyes. And think about. All that you heard today. 1:35:02 And say. Lord. Please help me. Heavenly Father. We just. Pray that you will. Help us. To live according to the light. You give us. In your word. Help us to honor you. In everything. We commit ourselves to you. Everyone here. 1:35:23 In Jesus name. Amen. Thank you brothers.
