Summary
God desires compassion and honesty, as exemplified by Jesus's ministry. The speaker argues that Jesus's actions—choosing to minister to the marginalized rather than performing grand miracles or healing everyone—reveal the Father's true heart. Ultimately, the message is to actively seek out what pleases God, learning to see situations through a lens of compassion rather than rigid adherence to rules or condemnation.

What thrills the heart of GodGod has specific desires that thrill His heart, primarily compassion for others and honesty before Him rather than self-righteousness.
Looking at the earthly life of JesusExamining Jesus's ministry shows that His primary purpose on earth was not to heal every physical sickness or raise every dead person, but to reveal the Father's heart of compassion.
Learning the meaning of compassion over sacrificeJesus rebuked the Pharisees using the story of David eating the consecrated bread, showing that true understanding of God's heart leads to compassion rather than condemning the innocent.
The danger of a hard heartWhen Jesus healed the man with the withered hand, the Pharisees responded with hardened hearts and conspiracies, proving that a lack of compassion angers God.
Jesus showing compassion to the helplessJesus looked with deep compassion on the man who had been paralyzed for 38 years at the pool of Bethesda and healed him.
Healing Jairus's daughter and the bleeding womanJesus interrupted His journey to heal a desperate woman with a hemorrhage while on His way to raise Jairus's daughter, showing that God orchestrates all circumstances for good without accidents.Mark 5:22
God's promise to AbrahamGod promised to bless Abraham and make him a great nation, leading Abraham to wait for the promised descendant.Genesis 12:3
Settling for IshmaelImpatience led Abraham and Sarah to try to fulfill God's promise through Hagar, resulting in the birth of Ishmael when Abraham was 86 years old.
God reaffirms the promise of IsaacWhen Abraham was 99, God returned to clarify that the covenant promise would come specifically through Sarah, prompting Abraham to laugh at the impossibility.Genesis 17:1
Hoping against hopeScripture highlights that Abraham did not waver in unbelief regarding God's promise, even while acknowledging the deadness of his and Sarah's bodies.
Putting no confidence in the fleshTrue believers worship in the spirit and put no confidence in human effort, turning away from their own attempts like Ishmael to rely entirely on God.
Sarah laughs and God confronts itSarah laughed when told she would have a son in her old age, and though she initially denied it, God's direct confrontation birthed true faith in her.
Overcoming sin through graceJust as Abraham relied on God for an impossible miracle, believers have a promise that sin shall not rule over them because they are under grace.
Being honest about spiritual barenessWhen we fail repeatedly with struggles like lust, anger, or anxiety, we must stop relying on our own strength, be completely honest with God, and trust His faithfulness.
Walking in compassion and honestyWe should leave this message with hope, asking God to transform our hearts so we live out His profound desires for compassion and honesty.
