0:00 Welcome once again to Words of Life. We've been studying through the Bible and we have come to Luke's Gospel now. And we want to look at Luke's Gospel chapter 8 today. Let's look at verse 16. 0:26 It speaks about lighting a lamp and it giving light to all in the house. And then it says in verse 17, "Nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be 0:48 known and come to the light. Therefore, what should we do?" "Take care how you listen. Because whoever has, to him will more be given. Whoever does not have, what he thinks he has will be taken away from him." He's talking about light 1:14 in verse 16. When you listen, it says take care how you listen. It's when you listen to God's word like you're listening right now. You can either get light or no light. 10 people may listen to me and only one 1:35 may get light. It depends on how they listen. Jesus said take care how you listen. He had just spoken about the sower and the seed in verses 5 to 15. The seed was the same. 1:56 The sower was the same. But the ground was was not the same. And this is what Jesus is saying. 10 people can sit in the same church listen to the same speaker. One may grow in grace the other nine may remain 2:16 stagnant. I have seen that in so many instances. And I'm convinced that it all depends on how we listen. If you're If you're faithful to use what God gives 2:34 you, he'll give you more. But if you're not careful with what God gives you, even what you have will be taken away. Maybe you did have some light in the past. 2:52 And now God's giving you more light. And you don't obey it. Even that old light will go. That's why I believe that a man can get salvation and lose it. What he has will be taken away. 3:13 So let's be careful. And then we see another passage which shows us Jesus' attitude to his mother and brothers. See, he was a very popular speaker now because he was healing so many sick people. And even though his brothers didn't 3:35 believe in him, we read that in John 7. They wanted to cash in on his popularity. So they pulled their mother along and said, "Let's go and" The The was so great they get to him 3:54 verse 19. That means there was a jam-packed crowd. They couldn't find their way to the front. So he said they sent a message up to the front your mother and your brothers are waiting at the bank to see you. And from the front he said, 4:16 "Who is my mother and who are my brothers?" "All these people who hear the word of God and do it." Jesus said he now had a new family. It's not that he didn't care for the old family. We know that even when he was hanging on 4:37 the cross he cared for his mother. There was a new family now. Of those who listen to God's word and do it. And that's the family he was going to be concerned about. And we read further here 5:00 about his casting out demons, his healing the sick, etc. And then we come to chapter nine. And there we read something very interesting. You know that Jesus had given his 5:20 disciples authority and power. We read here first of all his going up to the Mount of Transfiguration. And Luke 9:28 onwards. And there 5:37 his face began to shine. And Moses and Elijah came verse 30 and began to talk to him. And And was so overwhelmed by this. They were so excited. They said, "This 5:54 is great. Let's live here forever." And he said, "Let's make three tabernacles and live here." One for you, one for Moses, one for Elijah. You know, this is how sometimes we can admire a man of God so much. Put him on the same level as Jesus. 6:20 Let's make three tabernacles. One for Jesus. One for this man of God. And the another man of God. And as soon as you say that it says immediately a cloud came over them. And a voice said, 6:38 "Don't you dare equate my son with all these other men." "This is my son." Verse 35. "My chosen one." "Listen to him." And then when they opened their eyes 6:57 Moses and Elijah had gone. Jesus was alone. That's how it must be in our life, too. We thank God for every man of God who has blessed us. We must never put him on the same level as Jesus. 7:14 I'm sorry to say many Christians today they have elevated God's men to a level higher than even Jesus Christ. And those men also like that position. Jesus is much below them. 7:34 But Peter tried to equate them, but today it's different. Jesus is below these men of God. Here's a example. Today many great preachers, you can never contact them. If you try to phone them up, you'll get 7:54 their secretary. Send an email to them, they never get it. If you send them a letter, it will not go to them. But with Jesus, it was different. You could always contact Jesus. He had 8:12 no secretary. But people say, "Oh, well, today my ministry is so big." "Bigger than Jesus' ministry." If it is like that, something wrong with you. How can your ministry be bigger than 8:30 Jesus' ministry? How can you be a more important person than Jesus Christ? Jesus didn't have a secretary. How in the world do you think you can have one? Think of the thousands of people who crowded around Jesus who had a genuine 8:46 gift of healing. He was available to people. Of course, he couldn't talk to one person when he was already talking to another. He would tell them to wait. But he was not inaccessible. And that's the problem with a lot of 9:08 so-called preachers and servants of God today. Such people are not servants of God, they're servants of themselves. Let me say to you, if your ministry is more important than Jesus Christ, you're going in the wrong direction. 9:30 The devil has secretaries, Jesus doesn't have. It's easier to reach Jesus today than it is to reach many preachers. There's something wrong with that. 9:47 God has never intended it to be like Jesus is special. All others are below. Let us never forget that. And then when he said that we'd like to stay here forever. The Lord said no. There are demon possessed people in the valley. We have 10:05 to go down and help them. And when they went down there was this man who had a demon possessed child. The disciples had been given authority to cast out demons but they didn't have faith. And when they asked why 10:24 we know in Matthew 17 Jesus said it's because you're not praying and fasting. You know, you don't require more than one sentence to cast out a demon. You don't have to say it 10 times. You don't have to shout. The devil's got good hearing. 10:44 And if he doesn't go out when you tell him to go there's no use shouting and screaming and pulling their hair and all that. It's because something's wrong with you. You need to go and pray and fast. Come back with faith in the authority of 11:00 the Jesus. Then that demon will listen to you. And then we read here after they could not cast out this demon they come across another person who's casting out demons in verse 49. You know how man is when somebody else 11:23 can do what you can't do, you get jealous. So they tried to stop him. Don't cast out demons. And John came to Jesus in verse 49 and said, "We saw somebody casting out demons. We stopped him because he's not following with us and preaching 11:41 discipleship." He's not preaching discipleship like us. He's just casting out demons. Jesus said, "Listen, what a word for today's Christian workers." 12:01 Somebody's doing a ministry different from yours. Don't stop him. He's not against us. He's for us. Let that not be your ministry. And don't criticize him. Of course, if he's dishonoring the name 12:20 of the Lord I mean, if this person was making money through his ministry Then he needs to be rebuked for that, not for his ministry. Not everyone who says they are serving 12:38 the Lord is serving the Lord. So, if a man is doing a ministry and he's doing it with a good motive, but a completely different ministry from yours And he's not doing it for money. He's doing it sincerely for the Lord. 12:58 Totally different ministry from you. Maybe all he's doing is casting out demons. He's not doing it for money. He's not doing it for honor. He's doing it only to glorify the Lord and help people. He's not doing it to send reports to 13:13 America. And then the Lord says, "Don't stop him. He's not against you. Don't join him. You preach discipleship. Let him do that. But that doesn't But that doesn't a whole lot of people who are dishonoring the Lord by the way they say 13:32 they are serving the Then they went to Samaria, verse 52. Now 1 year earlier there was a big revival in Samaria. This woman, you know, in John 4 had gone out and preached and so many people were 13:51 converted. And there was a revival there. That disturbed some of the leaders of the Samaritan denomination. They discovered Jesus was the one who brought that revival. 14:10 So now when Jesus comes they did not receive him, verse 53. You know, that happens sometimes. When you go somewhere and preach and there's a revival the people in that established tradition 14:29 don't want anything to be shaken. They don't want their wretched unscriptural traditions to be broken. So they'll stop this man coming there again and bringing another revival. Because they are not interested in 14:49 people becoming holy. They're interested in preserving their own group. So when John and uh James saw this they said, "Lord, let's call down fire from heaven like Elijah did." They're not receiving you. 15:14 And Jesus rebuked them. He said, "What are you talking? You think I've come here to destroy people who don't I have come to save people's lives. Do you ever call down a curse on people who hate you or disagree with you? 15:34 They may have done a terrible wrong. rejection rejecting Jesus Christ Why then there Jesus said, "No, no, no, don't curse them." Save them if possible. They don't want to be saved. Don't destroy them. 15:53 What a lesson for us to learn. Walk in humility before the Lord. Never to take revenge. God himself will deal with them. In verses 57 to 62, we read of three people who wanted to follow the Lord but 16:09 who were not willing to pay the price. In chapter 10, we read about 70 people whom Jesus sent out. He had his 12 with whom he was closely working. Because he was preparing them for their 16:29 future ministry within the church. But there were 70 others whom he sent out two by two. And because he said the harvest is plentiful verse two and we need a lot of laborers. And he gave them a simple principle 16:50 which I want you to notice. He says when you go to some city you must when you enter a house first thing you must say is let there be peace in this house. It's not a formality. I'm not saying that if you go into 17:09 anybody's house you start with that sentence. That can become a ritual after some time. But your spirit must be there. You have come in peace. You brought the spirit of peace with you. You have come there to fight or quarrel 17:28 or argue. And If the man who is in that house is a man of peace Your peace will rest on him. Otherwise It won't rest there. It will come back to you. And you must stay in that house, he 17:46 said. Don't go out to other houses. Why? Because there are very few houses where there is peace. Jesus knew that. So he says Remain in that house. And he says if someone doesn't accept you Just wipe the dust off your feet and 18:06 leave that place. And these 70 went out and came back. And said, "Lord, this is amazing." Verse 17, "Even the demons are afraid of us. They listen to subject to us in your name." And Jesus said, "I saw Satan fall like 18:25 lightning from heaven." And I give you authority over all the power of the enemy, verse 19. Nothing shall injure you. What a word. Nothing can hurt you. Cuz I've given you authority. 18:44 The enemy has got power. Which is greater, authority or power? Let me give you an example. Here is a huge truck with a lot of power in it driving down the road at 60 km an hour. Even if 20 people stand in front of it, 19:06 they'll get run over. Even if 100 people stand in front of it. But one man stands in the middle of the road. Policeman. He's a small man. He just lifts up his hand. 19:24 And this massive truck stops. Who's got more power, that policeman or the truck? What does a policeman got? Authority. The whole authority of the government is behind But that lorry doesn't stop, the driver 19:46 is in trouble. And the driver knows that. So that's the difference between authority and power. We can stop the devil in Jesus name, just like that policeman. A hundred trucks will stop when the 20:04 policeman lifts up his hand. A thousand demons will flee in the name of Jesus. Nothing can hurt us. In chapter 10 verse 38 to 42, we read a beautiful story of Martha and Mary. Of one who was very active in doing 20:27 something for the Lord's work. Something in listening to the word. Jesus said listening is more important. Before that we read the story of the good Samaritan. And there where Jesus was trying to 20:46 explain who our neighbor is. The important thing to notice here is This is not like any man you see on the street lying down on the road, fallen down. Of course, we must help anybody we can. Such a need in a country like India is 21:04 impossible to help everybody. But this was different. The man lying on the road was a brother of this Levite and this priest. It was not a stranger. It was his brother. Why do I say that? 21:23 Because in Israel, everybody was a child of Abraham. They were all children of Jacob. Therefore, they were all brothers. Israel was like a church. So, to understand the story properly, it's like seeing your brother in your 21:42 church lying on the roadside. And you just pass by and go. That's the point of the story. Not some unknown person lying there. And that's where you see the good Samaritan did something for him. And Jesus said, 22:01 "That's what it means to love your neighbor." And then in chapter 11, Jesus spoke about prayer. And when they asked him to teach them how to pray, he not only taught them the Lord's Prayer, he told them how to pray. 22:20 He said, "You must keep on asking like a friend who needs some food for his visitor at midnight." He goes to his neighbor's house and keeps on knocking. "Give me some food." "Give me some food." The man doesn't wake up. 22:39 Well, he keeps on knocking. "I'm not going to give up. You've got to give me some food." And then finally, the person gives it. And Jesus said, "If you ask like this, verse nine, you always get. If you knock like this, the door will always be open." 22:59 Oh, how much we You missed by not asking like this. We have knocked and then given up. We have asked and we didn't get, we gave up. What is the question here? Verse one, Lord teach us to pray. How to pray. Knock, ask, keep on asking, keep on 23:19 knocking. Have you asked for the fullness of the Holy Spirit? In fact, Jesus said at the end, You know what you need to ask for? You know what the story is? Verse 13. 23:36 Ask your father for the Holy Spirit. That's the point of the whole thing. When the disciples said teach us to pray, Jesus was saying, Do you know what you need to pray for? You need to pray for the Holy Spirit. 23:55 To whom should you pray? Verse 13 to your heavenly father. Because God is already your your father. Because you're born again. And you still need to ask him for the Holy Spirit. Some people have a theological argument there. 24:13 If I'm unconverted, then I can ask for the Holy Spirit. Then Jesus would have said ask God for the Holy Spirit. No, he said ask your heavenly father. You're a child of God. Yes, you're heavenly father. Then you need to ask for the Holy 24:31 Spirit. And it's because you don't ask for him. You don't ask for that power. And people come to you in need, you have nothing to give them. You don't have an anointing to give the word to people. You don't have words to help people 24:48 because you have not gone to God to give you the power of the Holy Spirit. God bless him. Even Jesus prayed for the Holy Spirit. You and I need to do that, too. All the time. Cuz all the time there are people in need around us. 25:07 May God help us. Welcome once again to Words of Life. We've been studying through the Bible in these days. We started in Genesis. And now we have reached the Gospel of Luke. 25:25 We come to chapter 11. In Luke chapter 11, Jesus spoke a parable, which is a warning for us. He said, "When the unclean spirit, verse 24, goes through a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and then says, 'I'll return to the house 25:44 from which I came.'" And when he comes there, he finds the house swept and in order. So, he goes and takes seven other spirits more evil than itself. And they go and live there. 26:05 And listen to this, the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So, what is he trying to say? Let's take the example of some bad habit you have. Whatever it is. Every bad habit has an opposite good 26:25 habit. Do you have the habit of having dirty thoughts? Well, the opposite of that is good thoughts. If you have hateful thoughts, the opposite of that is loving thoughts. If you have proud thoughts, the opposite 26:46 of that is humble thoughts. Every evil has good. Supposing you get rid of one evil thing in your life. By God's grace. 27:04 And you don't replace that empty place in your heart with something good. For example, you have forgiven somebody. Who did some evil to you. You hated him for so long. And now you decide, "Okay, I'll forgive." 27:23 And you really forgive. And like people say, "I don't have anything in my heart against you." Have you heard that statement? "Oh, brother, I don't have anything in my heart against that person." And that is the situation here. 27:41 The heart is clean and empty. It's just a matter of time before eight demons come and spoil that man completely. You have to fill your heart with love for that person. It doesn't mean you have to go and visit 28:00 him. Jesus loved all the Pharisees. He didn't keep on visiting their home. It doesn't mean that you have to meet him even. Love is an attitude. You have an attitude of love towards everybody in the world. It's not enough to say, "I've got 28:21 nothing in my heart against somebody." That is the empty heart into which eight demons can come. And then we read in Luke chapter 12. Jesus speaks about the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy, in verse 28:39 one. There are three types of leavens that Jesus spoke about. The leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. The leaven of the Sadducees he spoke in Matthew 16, which is the leaven of not believing in 28:59 the supernatural. They don't believe in angels. They don't believe in the resurrection. And the third is the leaven of the Herodians. That's mentioned in Mark 6. These are three types of leavens. 29:18 The Pharisees had all their doctrines right, but they were hypocrites. They did not live according to what they believed. And that is the condition of many Christians. They're evangelical, fundamental in doctrine, but 29:41 but hypocrites in their life. They're all right. The second group of Christians are like the Sadducees. The They don't believe God does any miracles. God doesn't answer any prayers. We've just got to somehow survive. 29:59 Nothing supernatural happens. We have to live just like all other human beings. They don't believe all the doctrines in scripture. The third group of Christians are like the Herodians, followers of Herod. Who can enjoy, like I said, John the 30:20 Baptist and enjoy the sexual dance of Salome also. Worldly Christians. Who go to the church and watch filthy movies at the same time. Now, you would think the worldly 30:40 Christians are the worst. And these people who don't work believe in miracles are second worst. And the Pharisees are the best of the three. But it wasn't like that. Jesus' greatest enemies were the Pharisees, not the Pharisees or the 30:57 Herodians. So, if you stand up for God today like Jesus did, who do you think will oppose you? Not the worldly Christian. They'll probably leave you alone. Not the liberal Christians who got wrong doctrine. They'll leave you alone, too. 31:20 The people who will oppose you are the people whose are evangelical in their doctrine. I found that myself. That the people who oppose me the most are the people whose doctrines are all correct. Why? And? Because their hypocrisy is 31:41 exposed. Their love of money is exposed. Their love of honor is exposed. That's exactly why they hated Jesus. So, I got it. These are the three leavens. And the three leavens we talked about. And then we read, while Jesus was 32:01 speaking this fantastic message about uh standing as a witness for him before rulers and authorities who persecute the disciples, Luke 11 and 12. It says the Holy Spirit will tell you 32:19 that moment what you should say. Someone raises his hand in the crowd and says, "Master, I've got a question." You would think it's a question about how to witness for the Lord in a time of persecution. But what is his question? 32:39 Yeah. He says my brother is not dividing the property with me after my father died. He's listening to this fantastic spiritual message and he's thinking of how to get Jesus to influence his brother to get his money. Now, what's wrong in getting your share 33:00 of the money after the your father died? He wasn't telling Jesus to that he wanted more than 50%. He was asking for what was right. And Jesus said, "I'm not a judge for 33:18 these things." "I didn't come here to do these things." "You should have gone to Moses and his followers." "The mistake he made was he came to Jesus." "You can't go to Jesus and even ask for a simple thing like tell my brother to 33:34 divide the property with me." "You can go to some earthly judge for that." "But you go to Jesus and pray about this." "He'll say the same thing." "You don't ask me for all that." "I'm teaching you how to be prepared for 33:52 heaven to have riches in heaven." "Not how to get more property on earth." "I'll tell you how to give up that property." "So a lot of people when they go to court fighting for property, they say, 'Lord, please help us.'" 34:10 "And the Lord won't help them." "He hasn't changed." "Then he told this man, be aware of covetousness." Now, was this man covetous when he was asking for his legitimate share of property? Yes. When you don't have faith that God 34:30 will give you whatever you're supposed to get. You think God could not have made that brother share his property with him? God could have taken away that brother's life. He'd have got the whole property. God can do anything. 34:51 So, trust God to give you whatever is right for you. If you don't get it, just praise the Lord. So, then he told the story of a rich man who kept on increasing his barn size of his barns. And the Lord said, "You're a fool. 35:13 You'll die tonight. What will happen?" So, Jesus said, "not rich towards God." That's a beautiful expression. Are you rich towards God? Or are you rich only towards yourself? 35:35 Are you rich towards God? I don't mean giving money to God. You think God wants your money first? God wants your life and your time. How much of your life have you given to God? How much of your time, your ambitions, your plans? 35:57 And Jesus said, verse 34, "Where are your treasures?" Now, we find another statement that Jesus made here in verse 51. This is repeated in other gospels, too. Well, we call him the prince of peace. 36:20 But he says here, "Do you think I came to give peace on this earth?" You say, "Yes, Lord." No, he said, "No. I came no. I came to bring division. Many Christians have understood this. 36:37 That Jesus came to bring division. Many people think division is from the devil. Please read Luke 12:51. Jesus came to bring division. 36:55 He came to divide people even in a family. In the family. Three will be one side, two will be the other side. Father will be against son. Daughter against mother. And like that. In a home. 37:14 How many millions of homes in the world have become like that after Christ came? One person is converted. Two are converted. Three are not. The home is divided. Two people are seeking to go to church to follow the Lord. 37:32 Three people want to go to the movies. Three people want to sit and watch some filthy thing on television. else. There's division in that home. The family was perfectly united in sin up till then. They were joining hands in sin and 37:52 filth. Two decided to be clean. To leave the slum. And live hygienically. The other three love the slum. There's division. So, remember this. Even in the church, 38:10 it can happen. Some people think anyone who divides the church is the devil. It could be Jesus. He's calling out people who are whole-heartedly wholeheartedly seeking after him. Further, you read in Luke chapter 13 something 38:29 about accidents. The thing is the Bible has got an answer for everything. He said, somebody told him about the Galileans whom Pilate killed. And he says, "Well, there are evil 38:48 people who kill people in the world." It's not That doesn't mean that they were the biggest sinners in Galilee. Or he said, "You know that other day when some tower fell in Siloam, verse four? And some people died." 39:07 Do you think those people, those 18 of them, were worse sinners than all the others in Jerusalem? When an accident like that happens, what does it prove? Don't say that that was God's judgment on those people who died. There's an answer. 39:30 It's a warning to everybody repent, otherwise we'll all perish. Another example we see again Jesus healing on the Sabbath in verse 10. The woman who had been bent down so she couldn't straighten her back for 18 years. Now, we would say that was probably some 39:52 sickness of curvature of the spine. Maybe. But the one that caused it was an evil spirit. Not everyone who has a spinal problem. But this particular Don't take this example and say anybody 40:11 who's got a spinal problem has got a devil. In In particular case, Jesus had discernment. He discerned that particular case is from the devil. And so, Jesus called her. And what a word he said. 40:30 Woman, you are freed from your sickness. And to all women who are listening to me, listen to the words of Jesus. You are freed. You are liberated. Listen. 40:49 Not just sickness, anything that's binding you. Some bitterness, some unforgiving spirit that has made you spiritually crooked and bent down. Instead of being straight with your head lifted up for the glory of God, bending down. 41:12 Jesus says, you are free. Released. The devil need not bind you anymore, sister. Woman, you are free. Listen to that word. And she was made erect. And the whole synagogue should have 41:30 erupted in joy. All the elders there with their long faces. They were more worried about their tradition than this one woman being liberated after 18 years. He rebuked them. He says, you fellas, if 41:50 your donkey needs water, you'll untie your donkey and take it away on a Sabbath day to And can't we untie this woman whom Satan has bound for 18 years? You know, some sicknesses are the work of the devil. There's no doubt about it. 42:10 Not all, but some. Not all, but some. The devil is behind some of these sicknesses. Further, in Luke chapter 14, Jesus spoke about when he saw certain guests at feasts taking the best place of honor at 42:27 the table, verse 7. He said, "Listen. Whenever you are invited to a feast, don't take the last place. So that the one who has invited you will tell 42:48 you, 'No, no, no, you got to come and sit up higher.'" He said, "Spiritually, what I'm trying to say is that those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." And he also said, 43:08 "When you organize a feast, don't invite those who can invite you back." It's a general principle. He's not saying that you must only invite poor people. You can take the words of Jesus and make 43:26 a law out of it. Try to understand the spirit of it. It doesn't mean that you should never invite anybody who has the ability to invite you back. But what is the principle? The principle is The principle is don't invite a 43:46 person with the expectation that he will invite you back. But don't have any expectation. Do good without expecting anything in return. And God will reward you at the 44:03 resurrection of the righteous, verse 14. And Jesus spoke that well-known parable about the person who invited others for um meal and they wouldn't come. And the master said, "Go and call all the poor and the crippled and the blind." Verse 44:23 21. That is the word to the Jews. God called them and they wouldn't respond to Jesus' call. So, the God he was warning them, "I'm going to leave you people and go to others whom you consider crippled and lame. I'll take them into God's 44:42 kingdom." In spite of all this preaching still great multitudes were following with him in verse 25. And he turned and spoke to them some of the hardest words that he ever spoke to 45:01 anybody. What was that? The three conditions of discipleship. Number one. You must love me more than father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters. Verse 26. That's the meaning of hate father, 45:22 mother, brother, sister. It means compared to your love for me there must be no love for them. It's not that you shouldn't love them. Same Jesus said, "Honor your father and mother." In Mark chapter 7. 45:41 But that must be so little compared to your love for Jesus. Supposing your love for your father and mother is like the light of the stars. They have light. Yes. 45:59 So, you must love your father. But what happens when the sun rises? That light disappears. The daytime is almost as though no stars at all. Your love for Jesus must be so great. But compared to your love for Jesus, 46:19 your love for your parents and wife and children look like hatred. You cut off that human attachment to them. And love them through the Lord. Then you will love them forever. That's the meaning of that word. 46:38 If anybody in your life is more important to you than Christ, you cannot be a disciple. Second condition, verse 27. You got to take up your cross every day and die to yourself if you want to follow Jesus. That means 46:58 that if any situation your will crosses God's will, you choose God's will. Your will goes for earthly things. God's will goes for heavenly things. 47:18 That's where the cross comes. This is the cross. There you got to die. So that you seek God's will. Deny yourself and his choices. And you get God's will. That's God's way. of discipleship. And the third condition, 47:37 verse 33, is that we are not attached to any of our possessions. You can have things, but we must not possess them. Abraham possessed Isaac till Isaac was like an idol to him. So when he was said kill him. 48:02 And he said okay. As he was going to kill him, God said no. I don't want you to kill him. I wanted to test your love. From that day, Abraham had Isaac, but he never possessed him. You can have a house, 48:23 but you shouldn't possess it as if it's yours. It's God's. It's God's and it's God's. You can have a car, scooter. It's not yours. It's God's. If you want to be a disciple, there are very few people who are disciples. But Jesus said we must go and make 48:40 disciples. To be just converted, to believe that Jesus died for your sins, and to ask him to forgive all your sins, that's just like laying a foundation. Hebrews 6 says the foundation is repentance, faith, 49:01 water baptism, baptism of the Holy Spirit, faith in the resurrection, eternal judgment. All that is the foundation. And if you don't build anything more, Jesus said here in verse 28, it's like a man who wanted to build a 49:18 tower. Verse 29, he laid a foundation and he didn't finish it. So, that's a fool. He says a person who accepts Christ and doesn't become a disciple is like that. He He's got a foundation, but he hasn't 49:37 completed the house. How foolish many Christians are. In earthly things they'd never do that. Nobody builds a foundation and without completing the house. But in spiritual things, so many people do it. The Lord The Lord wants disciples. 49:59 The disciples are the part of the army, it says in verse 31, who even if they are a few, can fight the devil who's got many more agents. We don't have to ask for peace with the devil like it says in verse 32. If you're not If you're not a disciple, 50:21 then you better ask the devil not to disturb you. Peace with him. But Jesus got disciples in the world today. He wants you to be one of them. God bless you.
