Father Ian led the flock with spiritual food and nourishment. 11:54 He led the flock to green pastures and quiet waters. He cared for the flock, comforted the weak, and protected the flock. He served the flock sacrificially. He is an example to the people of God in faith, speech, conduct, purity, and love. 12:12 He listens patiently and offers godly counsel, hope, courage, and praise with them, lifting their burdens. Often, after the Sunday meeting, he would speak at length to the people waiting to meet him. And he would be the last person to go home. 12:29 God molded brother Ian to be a good shepherd after his own heart. A Sunday school and youth minister. Brother Ian had a wonderful gift of working with the children. He loved to teach them songs. He would tell the children many beautiful stories, organize extremely interesting Sunday school programs, 12:53 and take them on enjoyable picnics. God blessed his ministry in the Sunday school as many students grew up to be Sunday school teachers. Brother Ian took care of the youth ministry and youth conferences. He motivated many young people to take up the responsibility of serving the youth and thereby serving the purpose of God in their generation. 13:16 A tent maker. Brother Ian was gripped by the example of Apostle Paul who worked with his own hands and supported himself financially. He took up the challenge of working to support himself while caring for the flock. He did this in faith, trusting the Lord. 13:34 Initially, he went around on his bicycle doing odd jobs to earn his own living, which was rather humbling. He then set up a garage from where he operated his interior decoration and furniture business. Gradually, the news about his workmanship spread and the number of clients increased. 13:54 It is a miracle how the Lord enabled all the needs of the family to be met through his business. He entreated the Lord saying, Lord, I will take care of your house. I trust you to take care of mine. The Lord answered his prayer. 14:11 A man of intercession. Brother Ian is a man of prayer. God gave him a spirit of grace and supplication. He would pray without giving up. Often people would come to him with diverse problems. After listening to them patiently, he would say, 14:32 Let us pray. He prayed for the leaders of our country, sick people, young people, the backslidden people in the church, and hundreds of people in distress, both in person and over the phone. He faithfully prayed for the ministry of Brother Zach during his travels. 14:52 Many have witnessed this, that God has answered many of his prayers. A marvel, two becoming one. Brother Ian and Brother Zach had unique gifts and personalities. Though their temperaments were different from each other. 15:08 The Lord brought them together and gave them a spirit of oneness and unity. They sought to be humble disciples of Jesus. They sought to honor the Lord, his word, and his church. They did not take money from the church for their financial needs. 15:25 But Christ is all and in all. They recognized the grace that God has given to the other. They brought an atmosphere of heaven into the church. They had unity and oneness in the spirit. The unbroken fellowship between Brother Ian and Brother Zach brought the Lord's blessing on the church. 15:45 As we read in Psalm 133. Brother Ian and Brother Zach are rare and shining examples of two leaders who have worked together for 45 years in peace, harmony, and fellowship. In 1980, CFC purchased a plot of land. 16:05 Brother Ian undertook the responsibility for the construction of this building. He would work long hours, often missing his meals. He chose the best materials for construction. CFC is indebted to him for saving huge amounts of money because of his diligence and faithfulness. 16:26 In 2009, Brother Ian undertook a major renovation work of the church building. He changed the flooring, the sound system, and transformed the old building to give it a fresh new look. Between 2012 and 2014, he was involved in the purchase of a new site at Paradise Enclave, 16:46 in the construction of a big meeting hall on the ground floor, the construction of a hall in the first floor where conferences could seat up to 1,000 people. His contribution to design and detail resulted in a beautiful, first-class, modern building on the site at Paradise Enclave. 17:06 He has done an outstanding job. A solemnizer of several weddings. The Lord has given Brother Ian much grace to conduct several weddings in CFC during the last four decades. He has many hours of counseling and prayer with many couples before marriage. 17:26 Many young couples have been delighted to have Brother Ian conduct their wedding. He makes sure that he has a rehearsal before the wedding with both the couple and their families. He has counseled many couples after their marriage and encouraged them to endure many trials without giving up. 17:45 A great motto. A great motto. John 3 verse 30 says, He must increase, I must decrease. This has been a great motto of Brother Ian. He wanted Jesus to be glorified and exalted. While he sought to push other people up, he himself would seek to decrease. 18:05 Isaiah 45 verse 15 says, Thou art a God who hides himself. Brother Ian was an expert at hiding himself after taking huge responsibility for many jobs during many conferences. He has excelled in encouraging others to go forward, take responsibility, grow and mature and shine while he himself would remain hidden, avoiding the limelight. 18:32 He has given this hope to shy introverts that they have the ability to perform many jobs well. To hide himself has been his lifestyle for 45 years. He followed in the footsteps of Jesus who would not project himself. A spiritually wealthy man. 18:51 Psalm 66 verses 10 to 12 says, Thou hast tried us O God. Thou hast refined us as silver is refined. Thou hast brought us into the net. Thou laid an oppressive burden upon our loins. Thou hast made men ride over our heads. 19:09 We went through fire and water. Yet Thou hast brought us out into a place of abundance. This is the secret of brother Ian's effective ministry. God took him through many trials in his family life, in his business and in the church. 19:27 In every trial, he remained faithful to God and endured the trials. He would never lose heart. He was faithful in all his trials and became spiritually wealthy, rich in faith and able to help others. The Bible says in Proverbs 15 verse 13, 19:47 A merry heart makes a cheerful face. And in Proverbs 15 verse 15, A cheerful heart has a continual feast. Brother Ian is blessed with a million dollar smile that has cheered many people. He is full of joy of the Lord as we read in Nehemiah 8 verse 10. 20:08 This joy is reflected on his face. He is anointed with the oil of gladness as we read in Hebrews 1:9. His smile gives people an assurance that he accepts them just as they are. He loved the church and gave himself for it. 20:25 Ephesians 5 verse 25 says, Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. Following his Savior's example, Brother Ian loved the church and gave himself for it. He always found time to do something for the church in a practical way to bless the brothers and sisters. 20:44 He was never calculated, but he dedicated his life to build up the body of Christ, the church. Like Mary who anointed Jesus with the alabaster box of pure ointment. Brother Ian anointed the body of Christ with beautiful fragrance. 21:00 Consistently, he spoke prophetic words to the people of God. Many have testified that they have been edified, comforted, strengthened and blessed by his words. He took care of the spiritual responsibility of the church in Bangalore. 21:15 Whenever Brother Zach was traveling to minister to other churches in India and around the world. Brother Ian has served the church with untiring zeal and enthusiasm. As you complete 80 years I pray that what God has in store for you in the coming years will be far more blessed than what you've experienced so far. 23:39 May the Lord give you a very good day today And encourage you and strengthen you and give you health and bless you in your spirit, fill you afresh with the Holy Spirit. And I think of how God brought us together, it's quite an amazing story and quite an amazing journey these past more than 45 years. 24:01 I think of what it says in Acts 13 that God brought Saul and Barnabas together and as they were praying and fasting in Acts 13:2, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me, Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them." 24:19 And I think back to those years in 1974, where we were in need, desperate need, struggling, defeated, wanting to please the Lord and how we, just like it says here, we prayed and fasted, seeking to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. 24:40 And it went on for a long time and we were frustrated wondering when God would meet with us, and then God met with us all of a sudden, almost the same day, one day after the other and led us together into this wonderful life. 25:02 And as a result of that, you and I were, well, I was turned out of the church, the Baptist church, and you didn't have to, but you decided to stick with me and come out. And that's where we began our journey. The Holy Spirit set us apart to do his work, to build his church. 25:24 And when we began, we never knew what the future had for us. It was very similar to the children of Israel, going forth, being led by the pillar of cloud day by day. And we had some amazing experiences in those days, as we, as the Lord brought different people to us. 25:44 And I think of many people who came and left and came and left and came and left, but the Lord kept you and me together all these years. We stuck it out together because God had called us. And I want to thank you for that. 25:56 I want to thank you for standing true and standing faithful and loyal to me all these days. So I think of how God gave us both the same vision as we began. We didn't know what it was to build the church. God gave us a vision for an overcoming life. 26:22 And to build the church. And that's what the way the Lord has led us since then. And as I think of you, the things that stand out as I observed your life closely more than any other brother around here. And primarily what I see in you throughout these years is your humility. 26:48 There's been no pride in you in the way you conduct yourself or in the way you relate to other people. And that's why God has given you grace. Amazing grace. And I praise the Lord for that. And I pray that grace will increase more and more in the days to come. 27:08 And the second thing that I have seen in you is a readiness to forgive. There are many people who have hurt you in words, attacked you and your children and the church and your ministry and hurt you in many ways. Some of them I know, there must be many others which I don't know. 27:33 But I've always seen you forgive. I know cases where you've forgiven gross sins that other people have done against you and gross evil that other people have spoken about you behind your back and you so readily forgive and seek to fellowship with them. 27:49 It's an amazing testimony. God's been good to you because you've been good to others. That's something really I have noticed again and again. Another thing I've noticed in you is I think of the numerous times you come up to me after a message and CFC and say thank you for that. 28:14 It's not just humility, but I find in you a spirit of thankfulness, gratitude, or you've written to me mails when I'm not in town saying you listened to some message and you were blessed by thank you for speaking to me. 28:29 That humility and gratitude combined is an amazing combination and I believe that's why God's blessed you so much in making your blessing to numerous people, not only in India but around the world. People have heard your messages on the internet, many places and who are blessed and who listen to CFC because they hear you there. 28:55 I praise the Lord for that and I thank God that he's kept you all this time in that same spirit and growing in grace. The other thing I personally am deeply thankful for is that God's kept us united. That's an amazing testimony. 29:11 And he's rare to find in Christendom, two brothers who worked together for more than 45 years now in the church and completely united, just like we were, in fact, more than we were when we first came together. It's not that you and I are similar. 29:29 People who know you and know me will readily say we have very different personalities, very, very different. And like Paul and Barnabas were different. But God called them together and God called you and me together and all these years has never been a break of fellowship. 29:49 We've had our disagreements and I believe as long as we live on the earth, if we are honest, the best of God's people will have disagreements because we are imperfect. You're imperfect and I'm imperfect and so until Christ comes again, we will have slight difference of views here and there. 30:07 But all that is to test whether our unity is based on some understanding of some particular doctrine or it's based on Jesus as our head. See, the left hand and right hand are so different from each other. And I see you and me like that, but they fit together perfectly. 30:29 And that's how God has made us in the body different because then we can balance each other out. And I'm deeply thankful for that. I'm very thankful for your standing true to the Lord in Bangalore. That's what enabled me to be able to travel. 30:44 I could not have traveled to these different places that the Lord's taken me if you were not there to hold the fort in Bangalore and build the church. Yeah, I praise the Lord for that. It's amazing. When I think of it, God's leading is so amazing. 31:02 I believe that God's made us both a testimony to this generation in India and around the world and say, see what I can do through two of my servants who are different from each other and who may have that disagreement, but who work in perfect unity. 31:20 I can't think of a single day in all these 45 years when I could not look you straight in the face and fellowship with you. Our disagreements were all trivial about small, small things. You know, it could be about the construction of a building. 31:36 That's the other thing. You've done a tremendous job in building CFC's buildings. Those buildings could never have been built, the two we have, if it were not for you. I have no doubt about it in my mind. You were the one who slogged and worked day and night to make sure that everything was done just right. 31:56 So I praise the Lord for that gift also that God gave you, which is very needed because we needed a place to meet. So it's amazing how God calls people with exact gifts needed in practical earthly things and in spiritual things. 32:12 So I thank God for you. I thank God for your family and for the way the Lord has stood by you and taken care of your children and given them jobs and established them in different places. I pray that the coming years will really be a very, very blessed time for you. 32:32 So I just want to share this verse with you from the Living Bible in Malachi chapter 3 and verse 17. And I pray this will be a promise that you'll take from the Lord. Malachi 3 and verse 17 in the Living Bible, it says, the Lord says, they shall be mine. 32:56 It refers to you. You shall be mine. He and the Lord says, in that day when I make up my jewels. And I will spare you as a man spares an obedient and dutiful son. He is so happy to be among all God's people and never tired of spending time with them. And another feature of his is his availability. He is always available and enjoys being with God's people. It says, I am the Lord. I have called you in righteousness. I will also hold you by the right hand and watch over you. 39:52 And I want to say that God has been so faithful to us as a family. What we have been hearing that we can always receive something better. And that is grace in every situation. And that is what I've asked the Lord for.
