Even [singing] a word did their gaze from the side. Such [music] was the [singing] suffering you bore for us. 23:25 Led like a lamb, a lamb [music] to the [singing] slaughterer. You spoke nor a word, but chose to [singing and music] be silent though you did no wrong. nor was [singing] deceitfulness [music] found 23:42 in you. Yet by your wounds our salvation [singing and music] 25:15 has come. Yet by your suffering our freedom is one. [singing] [music] For God has highly [singing] exalted [music] your name. 25:33 He [singing] has enthroned you on high. Gave you the name [singing] above [music] all names. For God [music] has [singing] 25:49 highly exalted your name. He [singing and music] has enthroned you on high. Jesus [singing] the name [music] above all name. Will we all stand? 26:11 He is Lord. He is risen from the dead. And every knee shall bow. Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is Lord. [singing] 26:32 He is Lord. [music and singing] He is risen from the dead [music] and he [singing] is Lord. Every [singing] 26:54 [music] knee shall bow. [singing] Every [music] tongue confess [singing] that Jesus [music] [singing] Christ 27:13 is [music] Lord. >> Make it personal. Sing you're my Lord. take him as our Lord. You're [singing] my Lord. You're [singing] my Lord. 27:34 [singing] You are risen [music] from [singing] the dead and you're my Lord. [singing] And my knee [music] 27:53 shall bow [singing] and my tongue [music] confess [singing] that Jesus Christ [singing] 28:10 is Lord. [singing] Brothers and sisters, 28:41 let's remain standing and exalt the Lord Jesus as Lord in our hearts as King of our lives. Let's 28:57 bow down in our hearts in his presence. Let's forget about ourselves and concentrate on him cuz he's clothed us in his righteousness. Those who believe in his 29:14 name, we can come boldly to his throne. At this time, we don't want to ask anything. We just want to exalt him. We just want to praise him. Just want to acknowledge his goodness, his might, his wisdom, his great compassion, 29:32 his everlasting love. Want to give thanks and praise. Bow down in our hearts. So every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. But it's our privilege 29:50 and the goodness and mercy of God that we can gladly do it now. Think about his love, his goodness, his good plans for us. 30:14 the mighty clay in the pit from which he drew us out and washed us clean and set us before him. Let there be a longing in our hearts, brothers and sisters, that the Lord will meet with us and speak to us even today. 30:34 He's a faithful God. He satisfies the hungry every time. We can please him with our faith. Uh that's what we want to do in the book of Zephaniah 31:00 talks about that day that we are longing for. Zephaniah 3:8. Therefore, wait for me, declares the Lord, for the day when I rise up as a witness. Indeed, my decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, and to pour out on 31:17 them my indignation, all my burning anger. For all the earth will be devoured by the fire of my zeal. For then I will give to the people purified lips, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord to serve him shouldertosh shoulder. My worshippers, 31:33 my dispersed ones, will bring my offerings. In that day you will feel no shame because of all your deeds by which you have rebelled against me. For then I will remove from your midst your proud exalting ones. And you will never 31:48 beaughty again on my holy mountain. But I will leave among you a humble and lowly people. And they will take refuge in the name of the Lord. The remnant will do no wrong, will tell no lies, nor will a deceitful tongue be 32:06 found in their mouths. For they will feed and lie down with no one to make them tremble. Shout for joy, O daughter of Zion. Shout and triumph, O Israel, O church, or family of God. Rejoice and exalt with all your heart, for the Lord has taken 32:23 away his judgments against you. He has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst. You will fear disaster no more. In that day it will be said, "Do not be afraid. Do not let your hands fall limp. 32:37 For the Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exalt over you with joy. He will be quiet in his love. He will sing over you. He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy." Brothers and sisters, this is our God. 32:55 This is our King, our father. We long for him and even today we want to proclaim his name as Lord. Let's lift up our voices brothers and sisters and give him thanks and praise. So Lord we praise you. We thank you. We thank you 33:09 Lord that you love us with an everlasting love and your will will surely be done and your kingdom will surely come Lord. And we want the glory to go to you Lord in our lives. And even now Lord we want to raise you up. We 33:23 want to proclaim that you have done all things well Lord. You are holy. You're holy. You're perfect in all your ways. Lord, you are not a disappointment. Lord, we thank you. We praise you. Oh, what a king you are. What a mighty king 33:36 you are. What a glorious shepherd you are. We thank you and praise you for your love. Lord, for your plans for love for each of us, Lord. The way you turn the tables on Satan. The way you make things work for good in our lives, Lord. 33:49 All praise and glory and honor belongs to you, Lord. Wisdom and power and thanksgiving. You're the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. There is no one like you. There's no name in heaven and earth, Lord, by which we can be saved. 34:01 But you have saved us, Lord. We thank you and praise you. We want to lift you up. Want to commit ourselves into your hands, Lord, even today. Lord, we thank you. We pray in your mighty name, Jesus Savior. Amen. Brothers and sisters, please be seated. 34:23 It's a [clears throat] wonderful verse we had last week. This is a promise from Philippians 3:20. You can repeat after me. Philippians 3:20. Our citizenship is in heaven 34:45 from which we eagerly wait for the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. And uh this week we have a command 35:04 1 Thessalonians 4:1. Make it your ambition to attend to your own business and work with your hands. Let's say that once again. 35:24 Let's [snorts] let's commit it, you know, to our memories. 1 Thessalonians 4:1, "Make it your ambition to attend to your own business and work with your hands." Amen. 35:47 Brothers and sisters, let's prepare our hearts to hear the word of the Lord. We trust that he has the right word for us. each of us. We want to ask brother Danish to share 36:02 with us uh what's on what's on his side. Yeah. Brothers and sisters, good morning. So before I share what's in my heart, I would uh actually like to play 36:21 a a video clip, a small message shared by brother Zach about forgiveness and justification. So brothers, we can please play that video first. after that I'll follow Okay, if you remember 37:33 what we considered in our last two sessions about the difference between the old covenant and the new covenant, [clears throat] just a quick revision. In the old covenant, they did not know God as father. 37:52 We know him as father. And that's something we must know as a reality every day. Not just a theory that we, you know, know in a textbook. And the second thing is in the old covenant, Satan was not defeated. 38:09 So any Christian who lives in fear of the devil is living in the old covenant. He doesn't believe that Satan's been defeated. Anyone who feels that Satan can have some power over him. It could either be that that person has yielded 38:23 some area of his life to the devil or he doesn't know that the devil's defeated. We need to teach our children right from a very young age. Satan was defeated on the cross. He's got no power over them. Absolutely none. It's got nothing to do 38:35 with age or experience or knowledge. I mean, if an enemy is defeated, it's defeated. It's got nothing to do with you. But if you don't believe it, it doesn't work. And that's how it is with a lot of promises in scripture. 38:48 The Lord can do many things for us but it will not work if we don't believe. It says in the Bible in one place that he could not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Uh [clears throat] and the second thing 39:01 we considered in the second study was that in the new covenant we are to look into the Bible to see the glory of Jesus not verses and texts and doctrines. So any Christian who's still studying texts and doctrines and all 39:16 that in scripture haven't hasn't really understood what God gave us the Bible for or anybody who's studying the Bible to prepare sermons hasn't hasn't understood what the Bible was given for. I believe lots and lots of Christians 39:28 good Christians are living in the old covenant just by on that in this one area. [snorts] They don't see the glory of Jesus when they read the scriptures. I mean you ask yourself when was the last time you saw something of Jesus in 39:38 the scriptures or you saw a doctrine. And the other thing is that the Holy Spirit shows us the glory of Jesus in order to conform us to that image. Not to taunt us saying you're not like that. I mean then I don't want to see the 39:53 glory of Jesus if it's just going to make me feel miserable. But the wonderful thing is he makes us like him. So [clears throat] today we want to consider the subject of the blood of Christ and justification which is very very 40:07 important to understand. Uh [clears throat] in Hebrews in chapter 9, there's a contrast drawn between the blood of bulls and goats. Hebrews 9:3 and 14. In the old covenant, it says, "The blood of goats and bulls and the 40:25 ashes of a heer sprinkling those who've been defiled could sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh. How much more will the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself without blemish cleanse your conscience from 40:42 dead works [clears throat] to serve the living God. You cannot serve the living God if you have not understood what the blood of Christ can do for your conscience. It's very clear in that verse. Nobody could have this clear 40:54 conscience in the old covenant. And Christians who are living without a clear conscience, I want to say to you in Jesus name, you are living under the old covenant whether you know it or not. And that's why your life is so 41:06 miserable. That's why you're so defeated because you haven't come to see what the blood of Christ can do for you. You're actually living as it were the blood of bulls and goats did something for you. The very first time the word new 41:19 covenant is used in the New Testament is when Jesus used it at the last supper. You see in Luke 22 and verse 20, this is the first time the word new covenant is used. And Jesus said [snorts] in Luke 22:20, after he had they had eaten, he took the 41:38 cup, Luke 22:20, and he said, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." [clears throat] So Jesus was the one who used that phrase. And any word that Jesus uses, if I don't try to understand it, I don't take his 41:58 word seriously. When he says, "This is the new covenant in my blood, I need to understand what is this new covenant in the blood of Jesus Christ. Is it just something I sing about or has it got something to do in my life which if I 42:12 don't know, I'll miss out on some part of the new covenant?" And if you turn to Hebrews in chapter 13, you find there in Hebrews 13 [clears throat] that verse 20, the God of peace 42:31 who brought up from the dead, the great shepherd of the sheep, that is Jesus Christ. How did he bring him up from the dead? through the blood of the eternal covenant. Have you ever thought of that? The resurrection of Jesus Christ is 42:50 connected with the blood of the eternal covenant. That means the blood that Jesus shed on the cross when he died and the soldier pierced his side and the last drop of his blood oozed out of his body. There was no blood left in his body when 43:09 he was taken down from the cross because some of it dripped through his hands and legs and the rest was all came out when his side was pierced. And that's why if you read carefully when he appeared to the disciples after the resurrection he said to them 43:27 see I'm not a spirit because a spirit does not have flesh and bones not blood. Luke 24 a spirit does not have flesh and bones like you see me have. There was not a drop of blood in the resurrected body of Jesus. There will not be a drop of blood in our 43:46 resurrected body when we are resurrected. There's something very important in the fact that the all the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross drained out from his body and that was not only as an atonement for our sins not only to 44:04 turn away the wroth of God not a way to satisfy God that the punishment for man's sin was taken completely but also as that which God accepted. accepted as therefore I can now redeem man. Man can 44:23 stand before me as if not only as if he had never sinned which itself would have been a great thing but as if he has been totally righteous from day one of his life. So that is the power of the blood of Christ. In the old covenant in 44:40 Leviticus in chapter 17, [clears throat] you know, where the law is given, the Lord said to the Israelites in Leviticus 17 and verse 11, here's why the blood is important. The life of the flesh in animals or in human beings is in the 45:00 blood. You see, you can cut off a man's flesh and bones and he can still live. But you drain out his blood, he cannot live even if all the members of his body are there. You know that very well. The life of the flesh is not in the hands or the 45:16 legs or the eyes or the any part of the body. It is in the blood. [clears throat] And therefore, I have given it on the altar as an atonement for your souls. It's life that has to be given because of man's sin and because the life of the flesh. 45:35 Therefore, I said to the sons of Israel, none of you must eat blood when you, that's why they were forbidden from eating blood, the blood of animals when they ate animals. So, all that is a background. And when you come to Romans, 45:48 we read about justification. And we read in Romans 5:9 that we are justified by his blood. Romans 5:9. And we know that we are forgiven because the blood of Christ was 46:07 shed for us. But justified is a bigger word than that. And it's very important for us to know. Justified is related to righteous. Declared righteous. Not declared without sin. Just. Just is the word same word as righteous. Just. 46:23 The just shall live by faith. The righteous shall live by faith. Justified means declared righteous. So even though I have committed so many sins in my life, the blood of Christ not only blotss it all out and forgives me 46:39 completely and looks at me as if I never sinned, but it declares me as I' I've lived in righteousness from day one. See, just the fact that I did not sin, that just clears out the record and leaves it blank. But righteousness fills 46:53 it up. Christ is my righteousness, it says. So I don't stand before God just because my sins are forgiven and because all my sins are blotted out. I stand before God because Christ has become my righteousness. The blood of Christ has 47:08 declared me righteous. Very important to understand that and that is why we can come with boldness. I believe there are many many Christians who lack this boldness when they come before the Lord. They're always wondering is God angry with me? Has he 47:24 accepted me? I made so many mistakes in my life. Well, it's all because you haven't understood justification. And I don't think the devil ever wants you to understand it fully because he always wants you to live with a little 47:34 hesitation. He doesn't mind your coming once in a while, but with great boldness. No, no, no. Don't ever dare to be like that. But a true Christian who's understood justification comes before God with great boldness. Not because 47:47 he's arrogant or proud, but because he's kept his conscience clear. We read in Hebrews chapter 9, the verse that we read, "How much more shall the blood of Christ cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? I cannot serve 48:05 the living God if my conscience is not clear." Don't ever think that God will accept your service if there's one thing which is still on your conscience unsettled. There are multitudes of born again believers who at least who think they are born 48:22 again who got so many unsettled things in their life. They [clears throat] haven't forgiven somebody. They haven't asked somebody's forgiveness and they think they can serve God. They are fooling themselves. You cannot serve the living God if your 48:37 conscience is not completely cleansed. If you're not absolutely sure that the blood of Christ has dealt with your past and declared you righteous before God. If you're not convinced about that, all your service for God, you may be the 48:49 greatest preacher in the world, you're wasting your time. It will not be acceptable before God. Even if men are impressed, whether it's a small service to the Sunday school or young people or any type of service, remember this, my 49:02 dear brothers, your conscience must be clear to serve the living God. And that's why the Apostle Paul said in Acts chapter 24, Acts 24, I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous, he says in verse 15, not in the resurrection of the wicked. 49:21 Therefore, what do I do? I do my best. There's something I have to do. It's not automatic. I do my best to keep my conscience 100% blameless before God and before men. You know, it's easier to confess a sin to God than 49:40 it is to confess to men. I'm sure you've discovered that to ask forgiveness from God when you lost your temper is easy. But to go and ask forgiveness from that person against whom you lost your temper, that's more difficult. That 49:51 shows the tremendous pride we have. pride that thinks that we can come before a holy God and confess sin and we can't come before an unholy person and ask forgiveness. It's a deception. You have not come before a holy God. You 50:06 come before yourself. You're like the Pharisee who prayed to himself, "Oh God, forgive me." And you think you've come before God. The proof that you've come before a holy God is you're ready to go before an unholy man and ask 50:17 forgiveness. So the next time you don't ask forgiveness from an unholy person whom you injured, don't imagine that God has forgiven you. He has not. So do your best to keep your conscience blameless before God and before men. And 50:33 this is possible because the blood of Christ has been shed on the cross for us. And it we are declared righteous because of that. Now turn with me to one John. As I said, I'm not taking a Bible study. I'm just trying to stimulate you. 50:46 All I do is give you some starters and uh the main meal is for you to find out yourself from scripture. All these 15-minute sessions will only be starters. 1 John chapter 1, have you read this verse carefully? We know verse 51:02 9, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and righteous to forgive us all our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That's clear. But then it says in verse 7, if we walk in the light as God is in the light, we have 51:19 fellowship with one another. And the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Now, how in the world are you having fellowship with God if there's still sin in your life? And yet it says there, the blood of Jesus will cleanse 51:33 you only when you walk in the light. One of the most misqued verses in scripture is the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from all sin. No, it does not. If we walk in the light as God is in the light, then and then only does the blood 51:48 of Jesus cleanse us from all sin. This is one of the most misqued verses in scripture. The blood of Jesus will cleanse you from all sin. You see, Christians have a habit of getting rid of the condition and trying to claim the 51:59 promise and that's why it never works in their life. There is a condition to a promise. When does the blood of Jesus cleanse you? When you walk in the light. So if I'm walking in the light, that means I'm I've confessed all known sin. 52:14 That means my conscience is absolutely clear. Then what does the blood of Jesus have to cleanse me from? Unconscious sin which is still there in my life which can prevent me from coming before a holy God. So what he's saying 52:29 there is if you have kept your conscience clear that means you walk in the light completely in the light as God has given you light then the then the lord will take care of that unconscious sin in your life by cleansing it in the 52:41 blood because otherwise you can't stand before him. So 1 John 1:7 is not talking about your conscious sin being cleansed. That is 1 John 1:9 which we confess. 1 John 1:7 is having confessed it, you come to the light with a clear 52:55 conscience. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from a ll all sin. And that refers to all that unconscious sin in our life. That's why we can come with boldness that because there are you know almost 90% of our life where we are 53:10 not like Christ. We don't even know. And the Lord says if you're honest about the area which you know I will take care of the areas which you don't know. So please remember that. Now the reason I say all this is because I want to take 53:23 away from Satan's power over your life by taking away the boldness. I'll tell you because in my own life I lived in without boldness to come before God. I was hesitant to come before God. Oh I didn't read the Bible this morning 53:36 so I can't come before God. That's not the condition. The condition is not that you read the Bible in the morning. The condition is you have a clear conscience. You can read the Bible in the morning and without a clear conscience, you cannot 53:47 come before God. For 1400 years, people didn't have a Bible. How could they read it in the morning? B printed Bibles came only 5 600 years ago. The main condition is clear conscience more than anything else. You begin your 54:03 day with a clear conscience. Live your whole day with a clear conscience and end your day with a clear conscience. That is how we live in the presence of God all the time. Because then I have boldness that not only the conscious sin 54:15 which I've confessed but the unconscious sin which I don't even know is cleansed in the blood of Christ and I come with boldness before God. Now that doesn't mean that I'm holy because as I walk in the light it's not standing still in the 54:31 light. is walking and every step I get walking the light I get more and more light on myself on the areas of my life which I don't know if I think of my flesh as a big black circle and I come into the light a little bit gets cleansed but there's a 54:47 whole lot of black in my unconscious area but as I walk in that light that black area gets reduced the life of Christ comes in and the circle becomes more and more white to use an illustration till one day I will become 54:58 completely like Christ you who has this hope pure purifies himself as he is pure. This is the difference between justification and sanctification. May God help us to remember that it's one of the great blessings of the new 55:11 covenant to have boldness when we come before God. Amen. You brothers and sisters, my the burden 55:33 in my heart is not to um teach the doctrine of uh of the justification but to share a few things which is in my heart and how the Lord helped us helped me my own life and as we just heard from brother Zach 55:54 about walking in the light and uh one of the great liberating ing truth is that we don't have to try to walk in somebody else's light. You just need to walk in your light. If you're a a child, if you're if you're a young man 56:10 who is born again, you came to the church and you knew certain things, God has convicted you and we just need to walk in that light. And it's not on the basis of what we try to do. We are accepted before God. It is 56:28 by the blood of Christ. Our acceptance before God is by what he did, what is what is he has done for us on the cross. And few things in the bottom of my heart is first about gratitude 56:44 and how this relates to justification. Turn to Galatians chapter 3. Galatians chapter 3 57:06 sorry chapter 4 chapter 4 verse 13 we read there how the church was born there through the ministry of Apostle Paul you know that it It was because of a a 57:24 bodily illness that I preached the gospel to you the first time and that which was a trial to me trial to you in my bodily condition. You did not despise a loath but you received me 57:40 as an angel of God as Christ himself. Where is then that sense of blessing you had? For I bear you witness that if possible you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. So when apostle Paul he came and shared 58:00 the gospel they accepted it as a word of the lord him itself and they expressed their love and they were and Paul was touched by their love and appreciation and then in the contest of this uh letter is and 58:17 later and some of the people who wanted to bring them into bondage and they started teaching that you need to be circumcised in order to be accepted by Christ and but then they started in the spirit 58:36 their life and then they started to they try to fulfill by the flesh what we what they started in the spirit. So God is the author and finish finisher of the faith in our heart and from the 58:55 beginning till the end. The plan of salvation, the plan of justification, the plan of sanctification, everything God planned in such a way that we will never boast in our heart. We can never boast. That's what we see in the life of 59:14 apostle Paul. He said, "I labored more than all but not me but Christ in me." So I was thinking, you know, the times which I came to church, I was, you know, I'd like to read a psalm. It's a beautiful psalm. Turn to Psalm 107. 59:49 Oh, give thanks to the Lord for he is good for his loving kindness is everlasting. Let the redeemed of the Lord say whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary and gathered from the h the lands from the east and from the west from the 1:00:07 north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region. They did not find a way to the to an inhabited city. They were hungry and thirsty. Their soul fainted with within them. And they cried out to the Lord in the 1:00:26 trouble. He delivered them out of their distress. He led them also by a straightway to an inhabited city. So I see this is a picture how the Lord led us to the church. It is so true in my own life 1:00:44 and uh I remember the blessings that we received not only just because of the message but the fellowship of the saints. I came to church almost it's like a it was like a burning the bridge with my family but I remember going to brother 1:01:02 Newton for a counseling in the initial days and I had some burden but I he didn't counsel me for a long time but a few minutes perhaps but I was free I was free and liberated sur was mentioning about me sadak 1:01:22 previous Sunday can turn to that in Genesis 15. So it is through the ministry of this 1:01:42 church we all came to the church. But for me I'm very clear it's not because of the ministry that kept me in the church. It is I see the life God allowed me to taste that from the brothers and sisters you know uh maybe sorry Genesis chapter 1:01:58 14 verse 17 onward verse this is where he speaks about Melkisedc and this is when he was coming after this war a great uh victory and then verse 18 the Melkiseth the king 1:02:15 of Salem brought out bread and wine Now he was a priest of God most high. He blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abraham, Abraham of God most high, possessor of heaven and earth. And blessed be God most high, who has delivered your enemies into your hand." 1:02:34 And Abraham gave him 10th of all. That's it. It's a It's a very short conversation. It's not a very long counseling. It's a very short conversation with a godly man. And see what is the result when verse 21, the king of Sodom said to 1:02:52 Abraham, "Give the people to me and take the goods for yourself." But Abraham said to the king, "I have swn to the Lord God most high, possessor of heaven and earth." I see what is in the heart of Abraham. He's not thinking 1:03:10 about his victory. He's not thinking about the riches or the spoil but he's thinking his heart is flood with the God most high who gave me the victory. And he's not even thinking about me sadak. 1:03:27 So this is how you know that you are you have fellowship with a godly man. You you won't get stick to him. You'll be just like a signboard pointing to the Lord. And the the aroma that man lives with you is the aroma of Christ. And that's 1:03:47 what uh you know I I've been uh tasted in the church. And continue want to continue in the same uh book Genesis 15. After these things, the L word of the Lord came to Abraham in a vision saying,"Do not fear Abraham. I am 1:04:04 a shield to you and your reward shall be very great." Oh Lord God, what will you give me since I'm childless and hair of my house is Elaser of Damascus. 1:04:20 So this man who was won a mighty victory he was he had fears within about his own life but God can see through God see our heart god see our need we come from different background 1:04:38 different you know uh different circumstances and it's quite possible you know some of us may be walking through the fire but the people who sit next to us may not even recognize But the Lord knows. The Lord knows your need. The Lord knows the circumstances 1:04:57 which you are walking. And if you are a child of God, wholly committed to God's hand, every test that comes in your way is is scrutinized, it is tested by the Lord. So you can be confident. So this man Abraham Abraham, you see, after this 1:05:14 war, God told him that do not fear. I am a shield to you. and your reward shall be very great. But he didn't fully understand. He was asking since you are not given no offspring to me and one born is born in 1:05:33 my house is my hair. Then behold the word of the Lord came to him. Not about this man. I'm not talking about this man. I like the innocence of this man Abraham speaking to God openly without any false fear. He's fully transparent 1:05:50 before the Lord. Lord, this is what I'm struggling with. And see what the Lord did. He took Abraham outside in verse 5 and he showed him to the heavens and told him, "Count the stars and if you're able to count, so shall your descendants be." And it 1:06:10 says, "Then he believed in the Lord, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." So he just trusted the Lord. He trusted the word of the Lord and it counted it reckoned to him or credited as righteousness to Abraham. So just keep underline just underline 1:06:29 that verse. It is credited to Abraham as righteousness. So Abraham put faith in the Lord and it was credited to him as righteousness. I don't know if Abraham really recognized it, but in the Lord's eyes, it was he counted it as 1:06:47 righteousness. It was credited to Abraham's account. So, we want to come back to that. I also wanted to remind two things about the difference between temptation and sin and the conviction of the Holy 1:07:04 Spirit and condemnation. You know sometimes we we are so much concerned about our past life. We feel we recognize that God has forgiven us but it's something like keep on bothering 1:07:23 us. Say there is something still wrong. Something still wrong. And you keep on examining your heart. But I recognize when the Holy Spirit convicts us it is very specific. You read the revelation the letter to the churches. Each church the Lord 1:07:42 appreciate what is good in them and point out. Hey you lost the you left the first love and uh you have this teaching which you are loving in your church. It is so specific. So God won't leave us in confusion. He's not a god of confusion. But he is 1:08:01 specific. The Holy Spirit is you read the epistles and Paul or most of the epistle there is a specific problem which God address. So we can trust that we openly go before the Lord and ask the Lord to speak to our heart, examine my 1:08:17 heart and show if there is any hurtful way in me. We have to trust that the Lord will show what is wrong with us and the Lord is not going to leave us in a hopeful situation. I was listening recently where Zach had spoken about this book pilgrim's 1:08:34 progress and there is a there's a picture brothers if you can put that picture up on the slide. Is it on brothers? Yeah. So this is a um 1:08:53 brother Zach explains that story with a lot of pictures so that you can understand. And this is the picture of the Christian. He just coming out of the the valley of the shadow of death and there are two spirits evil spirits 1:09:11 come to him and whispers so many evil in his heart and blasphemies in his heart and and he don't recognize it because it is dark and he is so grieved such a thought comes to my mind. 1:09:31 Oh Lord, why I am like this beating at his uh own breast? When will I change? He didn't recognize it is not his own voice. It is a voice of the demon. It is a voice of the the evil spirit. And as he come out, 1:09:50 the day has come and then he could see through. He looked back and recognized. It's wonderful, brothers and sisters, to recognize that the Holy Spirit will not leave us into confusion. He will guide us. He will shepherd us. He will convict us 1:10:08 concerning sin. And uh this is a temptation. What he faced was a temptation. And in our own life, you know, you look at the temptation of Jesus after he was baptized. He was led into the wilderness and a thought came to his own heart 1:10:25 to worship the devil. But he was not beating his breast. I got a thought to beat my I got a thought to worship the devil. So he he opposed the devil and and the devil left him. He ced God's word and the devil left him. 1:10:43 So I see in all these things in our own walk with the Lord we want to walk learn to walk as Jesus walked but often we lose our boldness we don't recognize our own rights [snorts] and I believe one reason is that we didn't really appreciate what the 1:11:01 Lord has done the truth of justification I was reading good foundation the chapter again and I was much blessed you know sometimes we think these are foundational topics, blood of Christ, justification. But if we, you know, when I read the 1:11:19 writings of the men who lived in the past or some of them even their doctrines are right, sorry, doctrines are wrong, still their life is way ahead. It it challenges our heart and uh how is it possible that we can understand all the doctrine? Still our 1:11:36 struggle is so strong and we are not yet tasting. So I'm afraid of brothers and sisters for there is something was coming into my heart as a spiritual obesity. We can understand the truth but it has no effect in our life. 1:11:53 The truth of justification it should liberate us. It should change us. It should take away all the our attitude to the life. It should take away all the complaint and grumblings. It should make us overflow with gratitude in our life. 1:12:09 never desiring someone being jealous with anybody, but to be happy that I am blessed. I'm justified by the blood of Christ, recognizing I have a same standing before the Lord as someone else has. [snorts] So, I'd like to first turn to 1:12:27 Galatians. Turn back to Galatians again. I see the passion of Paul's heart when 1:12:45 he write this letter. The passion and the burden of Paul's heart to preserve this truth. Look at verse six first. Galatians 1:6. I am amazed that you are so quickly 1:13:05 descerting him who called you by the grace of Christ. And and you turn to something else in verse 7. Verse eight, he says, "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what you have 1:13:22 preached to you, he is to be accursed." He used such strong words. He said if someone else preaching than what I preached you let him be accursed. Again he says if any man is preaching to your gospel contrary to what we have 1:13:39 received he is to be accursed. In verse 9 the the church which I grew up. It was something like a Catholic church there that we used to sing a song about the priesthood of Aaron. then priesthood then about how it came 1:13:58 through Peter and then it through the their priest who was serving in that church what they teach in the church is that only those priest has the right to share the gospel and if anyone else sharing the gospel and if you are 1:14:17 receiving that gospel you are there's a curse on you so it's some of you it may be sound unbelievable but this is the truth. So they preach that someone else nobody except the priest in the church has the right to preach gospel. 1:14:34 I remember after I my mother came to know that I took baptism and then I was sitting next to her. He said get she said get up I cannot sit with her. According to her I was cursed. So these are small truths but brothers and sisters it's but it is preserved 1:14:54 through the centuries. I heard read about Martin Luther the man who uh was brought this truth from the darkness when it was buried by Catholic church. He was almost sentenced to death. It was not a death sentence but he was accused of teaching heresy 1:15:14 and uh if anybody can kill him and he's free. There is no crime of killing Martin Luther. But uh the Lord protected him. He had God has provided and next 20 24 years he continued his ministry 1:15:30 and God was able to preserve this truth. And look at this verse in Galatians 2:16. Paul preaches about justification by faith. 216 it says knowing that a man is not 1:15:58 justified with the works of the law but through faith in Christ Jesus even we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law since by the works of the law no flesh will be 1:16:13 justified and in again Galatians 3:6 Abraham believed in God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness and therefore be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of 1:16:30 Abraham. So I don't believe brothers and sisters we anyone of us are in the danger of you know following a law 1:16:48 but as we hear about more about the way of the cross and being like the lord in every way it can come to our heart and mind hey I have so many things it is not yet true in my life but uh we We may think that we try and 1:17:08 try and then one day we will be acceptable before God. I remember teaching uh talking to a teenage boy a couple of years back. I was asking him are you do you know the Lord? And he said no I'm not there. I'm almost there. 1:17:21 I'm coming. I'm coming. We will never reach brothers and sisters. We will never reach. If we can be saved by our own works then the Lord died. Christ died needlessly, says the Bible. 1:17:39 And again in another verse I'd like to read from Romans chapter 4. Romans chapter 4 21 1:18:03 and being fully assured that what God has promised he was able also to perform. Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness. I don't want to explain in detail but this is Abraham's own condition. His he 1:18:22 had a promise but his condition was exactly opposite. His body was as good as dead and even same condition of Sarah. You know when husband and wife are same needy then there is no blame game. But it is wonderful then the husband and 1:18:41 wife they both can claim the promise of God together and they did not waver in unbelief. They grew strong in faith. And it says therefore it was credited to him as righteousness. It was credited. You read that again in verse 13. It was credited. 1:19:00 24 again it says it will be credited. Again I'd like to turn to Jo uh James book of James. You know sometimes when we read James we think there is a contradiction. 1:19:19 It's not a contradiction. And it actually if you look at carefully it is complementing each other. James is not explaining the doctrine of justification but James is explaining what is the genuine faith. Verse 18 it says. 1:19:40 If someone would say you have faith and have works show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe God is one. you do well. The demons also believe and shudder. 1:19:55 So it's not just a faith in some truth. It's not just a faith in some doctrine. It is the faith in the person of Christ and that changes our life that changes our direction. 1:20:12 And uh we can have faith in the doctrine without any change in our life. I remember the prayer, heavenly father, hallowed be thy name. It was taught in our church to learn by heart. I knew that prayer by heart, but uh it never 1:20:29 touched my life. There was no decision. I sought God's will. I never sought God's glory. But I knew that prayer by heart. It says here it says demons also believe. I remember recently a man 1:20:46 who came he was in the church for a number of years and he came up with some accusation against the elders complete false allegation and even went on filed a complaint wrong complaint and we we were trying to talk to him 1:21:03 confronting him understanding whether he has some doctrinal misunderstanding because we didn't get a sense that this person is saved or he was once saved he lost his salvation and brother was asking do you believe a person once saved is always 1:21:19 saved he said no he said we must take up our cross every day we understand the doctrine but don't never touch his life so the truth and the doctrines we can understand we can preach but it can be sometimes it won't touch our 1:21:35 lives so I you know recently I was challenged I wanted study about the justification I realize no it is not I not fully understood if I understood the justification fully it take away all the gloom from my heart you know this I was 1:21:52 thinking about this own case I was talking about that person we are not looking down on any human being brothers and sisters you know Paul apostle Paul was a soul once who was persecuting the church and the lord could turn to him uh 1:22:06 turn that man to a mighty apostle so no No one is out of reach of God if he is willing to repent. There is no gone case. As long as we have breath, there is hope for us. And uh I was thinking you know we know 1:22:25 that this case was in the court in the station and uh we not bothered but we were curious to know what is happening but we came to know that okay the the good report was sent and it brought such a spirit of relief in our heart. I don't 1:22:43 know you had that experience. Sometimes traffic police will catch you when you're driving. Sometimes they will put some fine and sometimes they will say look at you go. It's a great joy. So now if you think of police and then 1:23:01 there is court, there is session court and then district court and high court and supreme court. Maybe brother Sur can explain it more better than me. So you know if you get a you know someone who is in authority set us free it's a 1:23:18 great joy it's a great joy and it's a great liberty and great freedom because we trust the word of that person his authority I remember once going to a health checkup 1:23:36 and they were putting uh they put me into some scanning machine and they scanning the chest. So it was a you know health checkup from my office and it was a periodical health checkup and they put connected some machines and the room was little dark 1:23:49 and all that atmosphere I felt something wrong with me and the doctor looked very serious and she was touching here and there and the nurses around I what is going to say and at last she said your heart is good I was so free 1:24:08 so brothers and sisters the court of heaven It's not a high court. It's not a supreme court. See this is the verdict. You know we read the judgment. We read the judgment you know to understand how the cases happened. So 1:24:24 what we read in Romans chapter 4 and Galatians and James we read the judgment there that the one who put his faith in Christ is justified. Who repented who walked in walks in the light. That means you repent of the sins 1:24:41 which you know. You know I see there are many things which I heard in the church which is not completely fulfilled in my own life. I see it like a land which I can see but it is not fully occupied but I'm in that direction. 1:24:57 So but that doesn't discourage me that I know that if I have to leave this earth now I can I don't need to shrink back. I can face my Lord. I know that I'm washed by his precious blood. that I'm justified. And 1:25:14 you know, Hebrews chapter 9, turn to Hebrews chapter 9. God didn't create man to so that he 1:25:32 needed servants. He he wanted to have fellowship. He wanted to communicate his love. That's why he created us to live before his face. That was one thing which God told 1:25:51 Abraham, walk before me and be blameless. And even in you don't need to turn there. I just read that verse in Ephesians chapter 1 first chapter verse 4. He chooses in choose us in Christ before the foundation of the world so 1:26:10 that we would be holy and blameless before him before Christ before the Lord before our father. So our sin forgiven that doesn't qualify us to come and stand before the lord. As we heard from brother Zach we have sins 1:26:29 in our heart which we are not yet seen. There are areas which we don't have light. There are areas which we are not yet occupied. And uh there it speaks about in Hebrews chapter 9 when a high priest he wanted to enter into the tabernacle. We read 1:26:47 that about in Leviticus only once in a year there was service in the outer court and there is a most holy place and only high priest could enter and that too with the lot of ceremonies he had to go through and then so God was teaching 1:27:03 them the fear of the lord it's not easy it's not just like that we can walk into the presence of god and it's not easy it's not it's not uh without any cost there's a price which need to be paid So that's what we speak uh read in 1:27:20 Galatians sorry Hebrews chapter 9 in verse 11 it says but Christ when he appeared as a high priest of the good things to come he entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not 1:27:40 made with hands that is to say not of this creation and not through the blood of gods and calves, but through his own blood, he entered the holy place for once for all. And the Lord opened the way for us through his blood, that we can be 1:27:57 blameless, come and stand before the Lord, justified by his blood, by faith, we can believe that God put his righteousness into our account. And that is the basis of acceptance. And I'd like to play a small 2-minut 1:28:16 animated video and then after that we will hear brother Shankar Kishor Justification is more than forgiveness. 1:28:50 When God forgives us, that's great. Our debt is removed. Our guilt is removed. Our debt is cleared. We can come before God without any sense of guilt. But to be justified is more 1:29:07 than that. To be justified is to be declared righteous. And the best way I could illustrate that is if a person if you for example were taken to a court as a criminal and there 1:29:26 your guilt is very clearly portrayed and you have been proved to be thoroughly guilty. But the judge in great mercy forgives you and lets you go. You come out of the court happy because you are forgiven. 1:29:45 But you hang your head in shame before all the others who are watching you because you know you were a criminal. A forgiven criminal. Happy because you're forgiven but feeling ashamed because you're a criminal. So that's 1:30:01 forgiveness. What is justification? Justification is more than that. Back to the court, you stand there and the judge looks at all the records and says, "You're not a criminal at all. All these charges are false. You're a righteous 1:30:17 person. This time you come out of the court again, forgiven, again, happy, but this time your head is not hanging down because you're not a criminal. People accused you of being a criminal, but the judge declared you righteous. 1:30:36 You see the difference between forgiveness and justification. In both cases, you're happy. You're forgiven. But in one case, you come out because you are declared righteous. Not just forgiven, but righteous. God says you are righteous. 1:30:52 And that's what makes us lift our head when we come before God. And what makes us lift our head when we stand before people? We don't have to hang our head in shame because of all the sins we've committed in our past life. 1:31:32 I really thank God uh for the such a liberating word that we heard uh today and uh it's the Lord even I too can remember the instances where 1:31:49 um I was condemned uh had the feeling of condemnation feel felt so gloomy about the past when I was reminded of you know Satan sometimes he tempts us with our past and say this is what you are and 1:32:08 then but the god's word encourages us to you know tell Satan uh we can read from Zechariah chapter 3 verse The Lord rebuke you Satan. Now whenever the Satan reminds us that 1:32:28 our past we can tell the Satan the Lord will rebuke you. Indeed the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. And uh the Lord also has given a picture here in in um Zechariah chapter 3 verse 1:32:47 4 how he accepted us. Um in chapter uh verse 4 he spoke and said to those who were standing before him saying remove the filthy garments from him. Again he said to him, "See, I have taken your iniquity away from you 1:33:06 and will clothe you with festal robes." No, such a wonderful God that he has given, he has justified completely and he has dealt my past completely and then I can rejoice. I was also reminded of 1:33:22 similar picture uh Jesus told in uh Luke. It's a familiar story to all of us. Luke chapter 15. Luke uh chapter 15. You know when the prodigal son came back 1:33:48 to the father thinking uh okay I will confess and then uh in fact he confessed in uh verse 22 uh verse 21 and the son said to him father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer 1:34:06 worthy to be called your son. But the father said to him, father said to his slaves, quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet and bring the fatted calf, kill it and let us eat 1:34:23 and celebrate. So the way the father accepted the son who was messed up his life, the son never imagined that this would happen. So he might have thought okay maybe my father will accept but maybe he'll put me in a servant's 1:34:39 quarter where I can serve him and then I can get support from him and all that but the father's thought is completely different and the act that father it is showed here it's a completely different picture so um it's not he didn't even responded to 1:34:59 the son he was calling the slaves and bring a best robe he And then uh to give the sign of that his he he accepted back as his son not a slave he put a ring on his finger so that whenever he goes out later part of 1:35:17 the day or uh the along the time people will not see him as a servant but he'll they'll recognize him as a son. So that's the wonderful picture that we can get from here and uh uh I this is my imagination after some time and then 1:35:35 when this celebration happened and uh one of his the neighborhood heard oh there is a celebration and then he could come to this father hey father I heard that there is a celebration and your son came back I thought you will just accept 1:35:49 him and or give him a punishment or put him in a servant's quarter But uh I heard that you celebrated. Why? But the father says you know he was my son when he was here and then he when he left he was my son. When he came back he's again 1:36:07 my son. So brothers and sisters so the lord accepted you and me as his sons and daughters. So we don't have to believe the lie of the devil. But uh uh and and the same conversation when it is happening if the son heard overheard in 1:36:24 the other room oh this is my father's heart and then what shall I do with this freedom he would have lived all his life with gratitude and total surrender to the father I can read it uh from Romans chapter 1:36:43 6 it starts with what shall we say, "Then are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be? How shall we who died to sin still living in?" Um 1:37:00 in verse 112, therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lust. And do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, 1:37:16 but present yourself to God as those alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. And the uh verse 22 also I want to read. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit 1:37:35 resulting in sanctification and the outcome eternal life. So the Lord wants us to experience that eternal life, the freedom. We don't want to again go back and accept the slavery but uh experience this freedom. May the Lord help each one 1:37:53 of us. We'll sing this song. Before the throne 1:38:51 of God above, I have a strong and perfect plea. My name is written on his hands. My name is written on his heart. And I know while in heaven he stands. Tongues. No tongue can beat me. Then density part [music] 1:39:22 before the [singing] throne of God above. I have a [music] strong and perfect plea. A great high [singing and music] priest whose name is love. Whoever lives and pleads for [singing] me. 1:39:42 My name is den on his [singing and music] hands. My name is written on his heart. I know [singing] that while in [music] heavenly sense, no 1:39:57 tongue can [singing] break me then. When Satan [music and singing] tempts me to despair and tells me [singing] of the guilt within of where I [singing] look and [music] 1:40:17 see him there who made [singing] an end for [music] my sin because the sinless [singing] savior died. My sinful soul [music] is counted free. [singing] For God the 1:40:35 just is [music] satisfied to look on [singing] him and pardon me. [music] Behold [singing] him there the risen [music] lamb. My perfect [singing] spotless 1:40:54 righteousness. [music] The great [singing] unchangeable I am the king [music] of glory and of [singing] grace. One with himself I cannot die. My soul [music and singing] is purchased 1:41:14 by his blood. My life is hid with Christ on [music and singing] high. with Christ my savior and my God. I'm free 1:41:34 from the fear of tomorrow. I'm free from the [singing and music] guilt of the past. For I've traded [singing] my shackles [music] 1:41:53 for a glorious song. I'm [music and singing] free. Praise the Lord. Free at Lord. Shall we stand [music] and sing the chorus again? I'm free from the fear [singing] of tomorrow. I'm free [music] 1:42:15 from the guilt of [singing] the past. [music] For I trade [singing] in my shackles for a glorious song. [music] I'm free. Praise the Lord. Free at 1:42:33 [music] last. Let's bow heads to pray.
