Um the zeal of the 0:21 house of the Lord has consumed Lord Jesus. And the same Lord who was so loving and kind and compassionate also cleansed the temple uh twice not once but twice. And um even I was 0:39 thinking about the example of uh pet uh Peter not only rebuked by Jesus but also Paul confronted him because Peter was going in the way of hypocrisy and Paul was able to challenge him. uh what a wonderful example we have and all that 0:57 you have shared today about being not being accuser of the brethren but interceding it's a very very practical I have uh I have a lot to meditate on and um but one clarification question I wanted to ask is uh what is the 1:12 difference between u accusing someone is is it like going to someone and talking about badly about in a false way or there is a other verse which says speaking evil of someone are they both same or or is there a motivation that is 1:27 that makes >> Hey, whenever you're in doubt about something like this, the best way to find the answer is ask yourself what is your motive? >> Is your motive that the church will be 1:44 pure? Excellent motive. M >> is your motive that that person will become a better Christian excellent motive. Is your motive to tear down that person's reputation 100% wrong? 2:01 >> Or is your motive to protect that person because he's your good friend? I don't want to expose anything. Wrong motive. Christ's glory must be more important to you than personal friendships in the church. M so motive 2:20 is the test in such situations and if you can handle a situation yourself handle it but if you can't handle it go and tell the elders like if it's your own children you don't have to go to the elders you handle it yourself but if 2:36 it's some other brother you don't have the author any authority over him go and tell the elders whether I think this brother is doing something wrong definitely if you see some young brother doing something or some young sister 2:49 going in a wrong direction, tell her parents or tell the elders, whoever you have freedom to talk to. Aim is always Lord Jesus, I want your church to be pure. But I would also say before you do that, 3:07 pray a brief prayer for that person and then go and talk to the elders. Sometimes you may not have the wisdom to go and talk to that person directly or you may do it in a very harsh way but better to talk to the elders and let 3:21 them deal with it. In many cases it is that I believe everyone in the church has a responsibility to keep the church pure and you have a responsibility to keep the church pure and if you sense something is wrong you say but maybe I'm 3:36 wrong maybe you are wrong. Okay, there's no harm in going and telling the elders. Said, "Brother, I see something here. I'm not sure whether it's right or wrong, but I want to tell you if you think it's worthless, don't what I've 3:49 said to you is unnecessary or unimportant, throw it away. I won't be offended. But if you think that what I'm saying is a danger there, please consider it." There's nothing wrong in that. I believe your elders will listen 4:02 to you and they won't accuse you for if you go with the right spirit. Lord, my aim is to keep the church pure. God will reward you. Paul accused Peter and he's writing about Paul's letters and he says in second Peter chapter 3 and verse 15 regard the patience of our Lord as salvation 5:55 just as our beloved brother Paul look what he calls this person who accused him my beloved brother Paul Peter this is the Paul who rebuked you publicly in the he's younger than you and he rebuked you publicly what do you call him my 6:11 beloved brother Paul as God has given him a wisdom which Peter himself did not have and in Paul's letters verse 16 he's speaking about certain things which are hard to understand Peter saying there are some things are 6:29 hard difficult for me also to understand Paul has got a brilliant mind and I find it difficult to understand and those who are not taught and those who are unstable twist those scriptures to their own destruction. See, he's defending Paul like anything. 6:47 That's a great testimony >> that the one who rebuked you once you you're not at all offended. He had 8:03 not planted churches or anything and he well I mean he had just begun his ministry and Peter is so much senior to him walked with Jesus for three and a half years and all that and yet Paul was saying for the sake of the gospel 8:20 he said why do you go and not sit with the Gentiles why are you trying to bring a separation between Jews and Gentiles that old testament distinction is broken down and Paul stood for the unity of the church that's what he stood for and is a 8:33 great testimony that where it concerns the purity of the church, we must be even willing to point out error in somebody much older than us, senior to us. We don't have to judge them because there were other senior people there 8:50 like James and all in that conference, church conference. So Peter went and said to them, this is I feel what Paul went to them and said, I think what Peter is doing is wrong. That teaches us there's if you feel that something that 9:03 an older brother or elder is doing something wrong, go to one of the other elders and say, "I think this is a bit serious, but if I'm wrong, please correct me, but it's just a thought that came to me." The Bible says he must also tell her husband. Darling, I don't think that's what we should be doing. That is love. So love is unconditional, but love 12:00 desires the highest. Or you see, it's like if there's a bad habit that a husband or wife has, you must encourage them to give it up. If there's some food that they're eating, supposing your take an extreme case that your husband or 12:18 wife go into taking these forbidden drugs, won't you correct them or just let them? What is unconditional love? To protect your partner from destroying himself. You know even if a person for example if a person has got diabetes but your 12:38 partner's got diabetes and the partner is eating a lot of sugary stuff love would be say darling please don't do that you'll you'll kill yourself if you your life will be shortened and God wants you to live long and glorify him but if you keep on 12:54 eating sugar when you got diabetes you'll die early simple thing like this so love means we will correct We won't just let a person do what he likes. >> I think Ephesians 5:15, I was thinking about this was speaking the truth in 13:11 love. >> Yes. No, in Luke chapter 7, it was a Pharisees house, Simon the Pharisees house where the Jesus was invited and where this woman seems to be, it 14:39 says a woman who Luke 7:37, a woman who was a sinner means a prostitute. That's the meaning. Luke 7:37 came to Simon the Pharisees house and she took her life savings and bought this 14:57 alabaster vial of perfume and poured it at Jesus' feet. Whereas in John chapter 12, it is Mary of Bethany. It's not Simon the Pharisees house. It's the house of Lazarus and Mary of Bethany. And Mary there is not a prostitute. She's the 15:16 sister of Martha and Lazarus and she was pouring, you know, at the feet of Jesus. So, two completely different people. >> Thank you. Um the next question if in our family we 15:39 are suffering continuously one big problem after another are we being punished for something how can we come out of this how many ever sermons I listen when the grief hits I don't know how to convince myself that things are 15:56 going to be okay or how to convince all this is temporary and my and my main goal is to be transformed into his image. If it's temporary, why does it hurt so much? >> Yeah. You know, suffering is one of those very difficult things for us to 16:14 understand. It's a new covenant blessing. The old covenant suffering was not a blessing. The old covenant blessing was prosperity and health and all that. But in the new covenant, the only blessing is becoming like Christ. 16:31 And anything that God allows is with that goal in mind. So we must remember Romans 8:28 and 29 together. What is Romans 8:28-29? Romans 8:28 says God makes 16:50 all things work together for good. Now some people read it wrongly. They say all things work together for good. No. Read it. Romans 8:28. God causes all things to work together for good. That's different from saying all things work 17:05 together for my good. No, God causes all these things to work not individually. One individual item may may look as if it is harming me. Every word there is important. God makes all these things to work together. This plus that plus the 17:23 other thing plus the other thing, all those 25 things together is going to work for my good. But I look at just one of those items and say that's pretty painful. But God is is God going to work together for my good if I love him 17:39 >> and if my purpose what does it say here called according to his purpose. We already saw the purpose is that we become like Christ. Now if your purpose in life is to g make money or to live in comfort or to always be healthy or so 17:53 these are all good good there's nothing wrong in those things but if that is your main goal I must make more money or I must have a very peaceful comfortable life that is not God's goal for us the goal of God what is the good that God is 18:07 making working for us verse 29 that we might become like Jesus it's very written there in the very next verse that we might be conformed to the image of his son. So that is why I always say don't think of individual verses. Read a verse in 18:22 its context. He makes all things work together for the good is mentioned in the next verse. That is to become like Jesus Christ. And God is causing all these things to work together. That must be coupled with another verse 1 Corinthians chapter 10. 18:39 1 Corinthians chapter 10 and verse 13. The last part of 13 it says God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond your ability. So that is a tremendous promise which is 18:58 eternally true for every believer at all times. God will never allow any child of his to face a test which is beyond the ability. But it says here, he will give us grace and make some way of escape so 19:18 that you can endure it. Not that the not that the temptation will go away or the trial will go away, but he'll give us grace to overcome it. That is the meaning. And then when I read promises like this, 19:36 I have to say what is written in Romans. Let God be true and every man a liar. So God's word is true and everything else is a lie as far as I'm concerned. That God be true and every man 19:53 everything else is a lie. So if I keep that in mind, I say this is true. There are certain things that are absolute. For example, God is holy. God is perfect love. There's no one in the universe who loves me like God himself. He's my 20:09 father. So if I can be convinced about this, that's why Jesus said whenever you pray, you must begin your prayer by saying our father who art in heaven. >> Why did he say you start your prayer like that? 20:28 Because there are two things there. One, I'm talking to someone who loves me immensely more than any earthly father, more than any human being. God is love and he's my father. Secondly, he's our father who art in heaven. That means one 20:42 who can do anything. There's nothing impossible for him. The whole universe is under his control. Every circumstance is under his control. So there are two things I must remember whenever I begin to pray. One, I'm talking to one who loves me. 20:57 And second, I'm talking to one who has got almighty power. Well, if you have believe in those things, then you have faith. But if you don't believe one of these things, then you don't have faith. I must believe I'm talking to somebody who loves me and 21:11 someone who has got almighty power to do anything. Jesus said, "We must pray like that. Even if you don't start your prayer with our father who art in heaven, in my mind, I must remember I'm praying to one who loves me and who can do everything." 21:25 Then some things may happen and we don't know the reason fully. Well, we have an example of the apostle Paul in let me show you that in 2 Corinthians and chapter 12. In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul was given what he calls a thorn in 21:42 the flesh. That means in his physical body there was some type of suffering he had. Now when I compare this with Galatians chapter 4, I feel his problem was with his eyes that there was some constant watering in his eyes and some infection that he 22:01 never seemed to be able to get rid of that was causing a lot of inconvenience and pain and whatnot. And it was, you know, if a person's got problem with his eyes, every time he's preaching, he's got to wipe his eyes and while he's 22:15 speaking and it's an inconvenience. And he prayed. He said this is a messenger of Satan. He calls it that sickness in 2 Corinthians 12:7 a messenger of the devil. Now why does God allow a messenger of the devil to come to his greatest 22:30 servant and it says he 2 Corinthians 12:7 it tormented him. Tormented is a very strong word that God allows a messenger of Satan to torment his greatest servant on earth at that 22:48 time. That was the Apostle Paul. And the purpose Paul discovered was because I'm being so blessed that I'm in danger of becoming proud and so God has allowed this. And so I prayed and prayed and prayed three times. If God did not if he 23:07 didn't get an answer in three times, he'd have prayed 300 times. He prayed three times. And God said to him, "Don't worry. My grace is enough for you. You will experience more of my grace as a result of this trial you have that 23:24 will enable you to be a blessing to others." So the answer to this question is if you're really committed to do God's will in your life and say Lord my aim in life is to become like Christ not to live a comfortable life and but you are 23:40 going to accomplish your purpose in my life and this question are you being punished for something don't look at sickness as a punishment do you know that Jesus was sick many people don't believe that but the Bible says that Jesus 23:56 experienced sickness if he was tempted in all points like we are. Some of our biggest temptations come when we are sick. So he had to be sick in order to face temptations. And in Isaiah 53, we read 24:13 Isaiah 53 in verse two. It says he's a man of sorrows and acquainted with my margin says acquainted with sickness. It is written grief here, but in the margin it says the real word is sickness. 24:32 And when you compare Isaiah 53 with the the Isaiah 53 is quoted in Matthew chapter 8 and there the word is used as sickness. So we know that it is sickness that is referred to there. Some people can't believe that Jesus was sick 24:51 but he had to experience sickness in order to be like us. Otherwise otherwise the one major problem in our life that he never experienced. See Isaiah Matthew chapter 8 says it says about him that he he experienced sickness just just like 25:11 us in Matthew chapter 8 in verse 17. He himself took our infirmities and carried away our sicknesses. And that is the word used in Isaiah 53 that he he knew sickness in his life. It has helped me tremendously when I'm 25:31 sick. You say, "Lord, you are tempted like me and I'm tempted sometimes when I'm sick to all types of thoughts and you were tempted also and you overcame it cuz sickness is not sin. Some people get sick because they sin." 25:44 Jesus is not sick because he had to be tempted in all points as we are and many of us are tempted when we are sick. So and the opposition of people Jesus faced the opposition great people. Let me tell you one thing. Whoever asked 26:00 this question you will never face a temptation dear brother sister that Jesus has not faced before you. He says he was tempted in all points as we are and he overcame. And so don't think that is a punishment definitely not. If you 26:16 know some sin in your life confess it. But to the best of your knowledge, if you confess sin, then it's a trial in order to make you like Jesus. >> Thank you, brother. I just uh wanted to ask one cl follow follow-up question on 26:33 based on this question. Uh some of the trials I think one of the point made is the temporal nature of the trial. Sometimes we think the trial is going to end soon but it takes a longer time. We even though we we have a hope that it's 26:46 going to be done soon but if the trial extends and it doesn't seem to be temporary it takes a long time how should we handle that >> as far as we know Paul's weakness in the flesh never left him >> he had it all through his life we read 27:03 in 1 Timothy 5:20 that the apost that Timothy who was also an apostle >> had frequent stomach problems now stomach problem is such a small thing for God to heal, but he was not healed. Now, do you think Paul prayed for Timothy? I think Paul 27:21 must have prayed so many times for Timothy, laid hands on him and anointed him with oil, and the guy was not healed. And Timothy was Paul's best coworker. So, two of the greatest servants of God in the New Testament, Paul and Timothy, 27:37 had some sickness throughout their life. And God used it to sanctify them and to keep them humble. Sickness sometimes God uses it to sanctify us and to keep us humble. And in every sickness, I believe with 27:55 all my heart that God's grace will be enough for you to be an overcomer, even if you're not healed. >> Otherwise, God's promise is in vain. 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you. Thank you, brother. 28:13 >> If we make our goal comfort and healing, we will not be cured. But if my goal is I want to be like Jesus, then we'll find the answer. Okay. >> Thank you very much. >> And fourth question, what is the meaning 28:29 of blessed or blessing or bless? Um can I say may God bless you in general? If I want to mean that God may may God save or set them apart as in holy or 28:45 salvation or sanctify. Well, if you want to know the New Testament meaning of blessing, Old Testament blessing was usually earthly prosperity and physical healing. 29:03 But before the old covenant was established, there is a blessing in the Old Testament called the blessing of Abraham. That is Abraham was before the old covenant. Old covenant came with Moses many years later. Now if you turn with 29:19 me to Galatians in chapter 3, you see something very interesting. Galatians chapter 3, we read something which many people don't know that Christ took our sins on the cross. Our old man was crucified with I've 29:40 often said there are four things that happened on the cross. Many people don't know all four. Number one, he took the punishment for our sin. Number two, Romans 6, he crucified our old man with him on the cross. Number three, Hebrews 2:14, he defeated Satan 29:57 on the cross. 1 23. What is the fourth one? He became a curse. Many people don't know this. Galatians 3:13. He became a curse for us to save us from a curse. 30:18 And the purpose is he became a cause first curse verse 14 Galatians 3:14 very important verse in order that the blessing of Abraham might come on us Gentiles. 30:38 So it was the blessing of Abraham is in Genesis 12. It was given to him before he became the founder of the nation of Israel. He became the founder of the nation of Israel later. But in Genesis 12 is before he was 30:57 called to be the founder of the nation of Israel. The Lord told Abraham verse 2, middle of verse two, Genesis 12:2, I will bless you and you will be a blessing. Verse three, to all the families of the earth. Okay, think of it 31:15 like this. What is the blessing of Abraham? I will bless you. And to me, the greatest blessing God can give for us is make us like Christ and you will be a blessing to everybody else. That is the blessing of Abraham. I will 31:33 bless you and you'll be a blessing. And Christ became a curse so that that blessing might be mine. So when we say the ideal meaning of may God bless you is that he might experience this blessing from God that God may bless you 31:52 in such a way that you become like Christ and you will be a blessing to everybody you meet. It's a tremendous thing is not just that they'll be saved from sin, that they'll be a blessing to everyone they meet and of course blessed 32:11 themselves first, which means the greatest blessing God can give me is not just to save me from sin, but to make me more like Jesus. There's absolutely no blessing I can think of greater than his making me more like Christ and giving me 32:25 revelation on himself. That is the greatest thing God can do. So when I say Lord bless me that's what I'm thinking of and so this is how we pray even if it's to an unconverted person I can pray I pray that God will bless you that means I 32:41 pray that you will come to know Christ as your savior and become like him that is God's desire for God loves all humanity it says he does not want anybody to perish but he wants all men to repent so it's perfectly right we can go to an 32:56 utter unbeliever and say may I pray that God will bless He may understand it differently but my >> what I'm thinking of is that that man will come to Christ not that he'll become a millionaire >> maybe it is a material blessing is 33:16 >> that's old testament was like that but you know the thing is even though Abraham is in the old testament and even though he's very rich god does not call that the blessing to Abraham He'll be a blessing to the people of the 33:29 world. >> And we know later on that that's how it became. >> Yeah. >> So I believe that the blessing of Abraham is for me. Why? Because Christ became a curse for me. I believe my sins are forgiven because Christ took my 33:42 punishment on the cross. I believe that I can have victory over sin because Christ took my old man and crucified it on the cross. I believe the devil cannot test me because Christ defeated the devil on the cross. So these are the 33:54 four things that Christ did on the cross and the last of them is that he became a curse so that I might be a blessing. It's a tremendous thing. These are the wonderful things that are hidden in the scripture. Most of the 34:10 people why did Jesus die on the cross? He died for my sins. I myself never knew all four for a long time till I studied the 34:24 scriptures. >> I never heard it preached in any church. >> Yeah. Praise God for these glorious truths. I believe it depends on I mean if grandchildren means your children if your if your father is doing something 35:30 that will spoil my child doing some I would say dad I'd say to very lovingly dad I don't think you should do that because I we don't want our children to be spoiled. I don't agree with cuz some parents have lower standards in bringing 35:46 up children and we may have a higher standard. So there's nothing wrong in telling your dad that dad please don't do this with my children because I don't permit them to do that. You may be spoiling them with certain things. 35:59 There's nothing wrong in pointing out lovingly. It all depends on whether you say it lovingly in humility because your child is your responsibility and as a grandfather if your father is doing something wrong you got to tell him okay now if you don't 36:13 have grandchildren you don't have children but your dad is in your just you and your dad you're not married and you can disagree with your dad and say dad no I don't agree with see I remember my own father was a god-fearing Christian before I was born 36:31 he was born again. And he always encouraged me. He was the one who encouraged me in the Navy and to go up to the top. And one day when I told him, "Dad, God's called me to leave the Navy," he said, "I'm very happy. If you're going to serve the Lord, I'm very 36:45 happy." And then he saw me traveling different countries in the world preaching and he was very, very happy with me. And then one day the Lord said, "Stop all that and start a local church." And two families, me and another family, we started 36:59 meeting in our home. And then my dad just could not understand it. He told me, "God has gifted you with such tremendous gifts. You can travel here and there and preach and be a blessing and you're sitting here with two or three families just in a house." 37:16 I said, "Dad, God has not called me to be a worldwide preacher. God's called me to build his church." And he that is for six years he was with us and saw the church. but he never understood it fully. Today he's in 37:33 heaven and I'm sure he says, "Son, you were right and I was wrong." >> Yeah. >> So, we don't have to listen to our dads because they may not have the light that God has given us. >> Um, thank you brother. Uh, how can I hold firm to the Lord when I'm surrounded by those who don't desire righteousness? >> Yeah. when Jesus was surrounded by those who don't desire righteousness at all. You know, particularly when you think of 38:18 the early days of Jesus' life. How was Jesus from the age of two to the age of 30? He was surrounded by unbelievers in his own home. He had brothers and sisters, 38:36 four brothers, two sisters in his own home. is Joseph had died. He was the elder brother. Can you imagine four brothers who did not believe in him? They did not believe he was even though Mary would have told them this is the 38:51 son of God. Your elder brother is son of God. They have said it all all rubbish. You read in John chapter 7 that they did not his brothers did not believe in him. >> John 7:5 imagine they saw him for at least 25 years many of them in their home. 39:10 and saw how he lived in such purity and love and humility and they would not believe this is the son of God. That's what it says in John 7:5. But finally all of them got converted after the resurrection but till then they did not 39:24 believe in him and uh so Jesus was tempted in many ways and he's our example. If you look at the Lord, he will show you 39:41 exactly how he lived. He was surrounded by people who had no desire for righteousness. Then he moved out in the synagogues. No desire for righteousness. And he is your example. You can hold firm to the Lord because God will give 39:55 you grace. Think of that promise. My grace is sufficient for you. Whatever situation you're in, in everything I find Jesus is our example. And if we look at 40:13 him, he will the Holy Spirit will show us something in Jesus life that'll be a help to us. I want to show all of you, I don't know, I don't know whether I mentioned this in the last meeting. I asked people this question. 40:31 There are four gospels. Do you know what is the last verse of the fourth gospel? What is the last verse of the last gospel? It's a very important verse. It says there are many other things that 40:51 Jesus did John 21:25 that are not written here. That means the four gospels have not mentioned what are the other things that Jesus did and if they are written in detail the whole world will not be able to 41:08 contain the books contained. That may be a bit of an exaggeration John is saying but it means one thing that there are so many things Jesus did which are not written in the gospels. Then I asked myself what are those things? It must be 41:23 in the first 30 years because there are only two things mentioned in the gospels about what happened in the first 30 years. One is he went to the temple and discussed the Bible with the scholars there and the second is that he submitted to Joseph 41:38 and Mary. Both are in Luke chapter 2. There's nothing else we know about Jesus in his first 30 years. But it says here there are many many other things that Jesus did which are not written here. And I'd say I'd be happy to know it 41:57 in different situations. I want to know Lord how would you react here? And I'll tell you here is the verse that helped me. John chapter 16. If I go to Jesus and say Lord, it says 42:14 in the last verse of John's gospel that there are many other things Lord Jesus that you did which are not written here which the world cannot contain. The number of things you did so many books could be written about what all you did 42:31 that must be in the first 30 years because the remaining three and a half years is almost all written here in the gospels. What did you do in those first 30 years? I want to know how did you live with your brothers? How did you 42:41 live with your sisters? How did you do your work? How did you do your carpentry work or construction work or whatever you did? How did you relate to customers? How did you deal with customers who did not pay properly? How 42:54 did you deal with people who complained about some work that you had done or anything? How did you deal with people every situation that we can face in our life? How did you deal with your mother when she asked you to do something which you 43:09 felt was not right? How did you deal with your mother? How did you deal with Joseph when he told you to do some things? How did you react to all your four brothers accusing you, criticizing you, finding fault with you and all types? How did you react? Is 43:24 there an answer? Yes. John 16. John 16 verse 13. When the spirit of truth has come, the Holy Spirit, he will guide you into all 43:43 the truth. All the truth about my 30 years, the Holy Spirit will guide you. Verse 14, last part. John 16:14, he'll take of the things of mine which are hidden, not 44:01 written in the Gospels. and he will reveal it to you, disclose it to you. What a wonderful promise that is. I have taken it for myself. I said, Lord, according to John, Holy Spirit of God, according to John 16:14, you're 44:15 supposed to show me the things that Jesus did in the first 30 years. You said it says here, you'll take of the things of Jesus and reveal it to me. That means disclose means things which are not written in the gospels. You will 44:28 show it to me. Please show me. And that has helped me in so many situations in life. And I asked the Holy Spirit, what did Jesus do in this situation? And there's not a single situation I can face in life which Jesus did not face. 44:42 He's my forerunner. Forerunner means every step I take, he's already taken that step before me. That is my belief of forerunner. He was tempted in all points as I am. So I have a tremendous example and that's been a great blessing to me in 45:01 different situations to ask the Holy Spirit not just to look for a verse in the Bible because of many things there's no verse in the Bible but the Holy Spirit shows me. I've told young people what do you think the Holy Spirit did? What do you think 45:15 Jesus did when say he was playing a game like baseball or something and it his turn to bat and when his turn to bat comes Mary says man Jesus come here what does he do and all the team members say don't go this is our time for batting 45:30 don't go away and Jesus goes away drops the bat and goes and he goes and listens to his mother says go and draw some water from the well and she goes and draws the water from the well and comes back and then after that he comes back to the baseball 45:45 game and they say Jesus where you went because of you we've lost the game man your bat is lying here you did not bat he was not bothered he had obeyed his mother one example there many many situations like this I picture in my mind what 46:02 would Jesus do in this situation and that has been the answer to me in so many situations you know not written in the gospels but he says he will take of the things of mine and disclose it to you. I praise the Lord. I want to tell you 46:17 there's not a single situation any human, any Christian can face in their entire life for which there's no solution in the life of Jesus based on John chapter 21 verse 25. That's the verse. I don't know how many 46:36 Christians have meditated on John 21:25, but it's helped me tremendously. course coupled with John 16:13 >> 14. >> Yeah, that's a wonderful verse. So many 46:55 things uh that are hidden and the Holy Spirit will reveal it to us. I think other book that tells us a little bit more about Jesus life is Hebrews, right, brother? He talks about how many the temptations he went through and how he 47:07 cried out uh with love. Yeah, the way he reacted to temptation is mentioned in >> Hebrews, >> which is which is absolutely true what you say. How Jesus overcame temptation. I I think many people don't realize it. Hebrews chapter 5 verse 7. 47:26 People who don't overcome sin. I say think of following Jesus in Hebrews 5:7. In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears. What for? What did he want to be saved 47:44 from? To be saved from death and he was heard. That means he did not die. So which death is that? There are two deaths. Spiritual death and physical death. So here it says his prayer was heard that he was saved from death. So that 48:04 must be spiritual death because he was not saved from physical death. He prayed to the one who was able to save him from spiritual death which is the result of sin and he was heard because of his godly fear. 48:23 So how did Jesus overcome sin? with loud crying and tears. Many people have the idea Jesus just walked through this life and just overcame sin without any problem, you know, just like sitting back in an easy chair and relaxed and walking along 48:42 easily. It wasn't like that. He overcame with loud crying and tears. And I said, when was the last time you prayed with loud crying and tears to overcome you men who are defeated by lust in your mind? When was the last time you prayed with loud crying and 48:57 tears to overcome sexual lust? When can you think of one time you did it and you say, "Oh, brother, I'm always defeated." I'll tell you why you're defeated. You never prayed with loud crying and tears and you will continue 49:09 to be defeated. >> Or some other some of you are slaves to anger. When was the last time you wept on your pillow at night? Lord, I'm still getting angry. Deliver me from it completely. Have you ever done it? Well, you haven't done it. Well, you'll 49:27 keep get angry till the day you die. And you'll discover when you get to the Lord's presence that you need not have been a slave to anger. You could have overcome it. But Jesus prayed with loud crying and tears because he was 49:39 desperate. He did not want to sin even once in thought, word, deed, attitude, motive. See, these are the areas we sin. Thought, word, deed, attitudes to people and motive. All these areas we sin. And Jesus did not want to sin in any area 49:56 and he prayed with loud crying and tears. Yeah. He says follow me. >> Yeah. Yeah. And for believers who want to live for God, it's always I I mean I've been uh meditating on the scripture about the number being very few uh people who want 50:16 to live righteously in the midst of this world. And right from the old testament Joshua and Caleb and even in the uh new testament we see that in revelation I was recently reading this uh the message to sardis verse 4 chapter revelation 3:4 50:33 but you have a few people in sardis who have not soiled their garments and they will walk with me in white for they are worthy. uh this message is sent to the church and in the church there are only few people who have not soiled their 50:48 garments. uh I was reflecting on this how this is the many are called few are chosen that theme uh it's always like seems to be a minority of the people who want to live for God and righteously in the midst of everyone >> and if you look at it verse for first 51:06 verse you see that Sardis was a church where people were absolute hypocrites >> they had a name that they they were alive but they were thoroughly dead >> that is the definition of a hypocrite >> mhm great reputation. We are preaching high 51:20 sounding stuff. I fear that danger even can come in CFC churches where people can preach the highest standards and they're not the elders are not living up to that standard in their personal life. You got a name that you're alive because you're preaching all new covenant stuff but it's not true in your life. You're a 51:46 hypocrite. I have one more question. This is my personal question. Um, I know a teenager who has been wrestling with uh some of the Old Testament passages where God commands complete destruction 52:39 of entire nations including women and children uh such as Deuteronomy chapter 20 and Joshua 6 to8 and also in 1st Samuel these commands feel very difficult to reconcile with God's loving character, loving just love, justice and mercy. 52:58 that we see throughout the Bible. How do we put these two things together? This is the question that a young teenager is was reading Bible is getting these questions and maybe trying to understand and trying to put these two things 53:10 together. How do how can I explain that to them? >> We have to begin with understanding John 3:16. God so loved the world that love did not start when Jesus came. He loved the world even when he created Adam from 53:29 that time because God is unchanging. He's not developing in love. If it says he loved in the world enough to send Jesus to die for us, that started before Genesis 1 verse one. His love for the world was such that he's willing to send 53:48 his own son to die to save those people who are his enemies. Ask yourself this simple question. You have some enemy who is facing a difficult situation. Will you allow your son to go and even help that person or will you if that 54:03 person is going to be hanged, will you allow your son to go and be hanged in his place? That's exactly what Jesus did. God so loved the world that he gave his son to save the world. And that is true even in the Old Testament. I must start 54:19 with that understanding of God. Then I go to some things I cannot understand why God does things. I don't know. But God looks at the overall picture. So I picture it like this. If you think of the world as millions of people, 54:36 think of a human body, the whole world. Think of one human body. That's the whole world symbolizing the whole world. And you go one day and you see the doctor in the surgical theater cutting off the person's leg completely, 54:55 cutting it off completely. And you say, "What? What is this doctor doing? Does he love this man or not?" And he's ignorant. That's why the doctor says, "If I did not cut off this leg, this whole body would die. such a terrible infection that has got into 55:15 this leg that it would destroy the whole body and so I have to cut off the whole leg and if you understand medicine you see there's a reason for it so that is a picture I get that some little group of people was corrupting the entire system 55:31 there and God removes it like in Noah's time why did he destroy everybody in the world and save Noah alone there were other people who could have g come into the ark God, it was not restricted to Noah's family. He invited everybody to come. 55:46 Nobody came if the world was so corrupt. So sometimes just in the human body illustration is the best. Infection can get so bad. >> That's what all doctors do. They cut out a person's stomach. They cut out different parts of the body because 56:04 otherwise the whole body will die. So an entire organ is cut off. A full leg amputated. So we say a whole group, a whole nation is wiped out. It's like one leg being removed in the body of the world because they were spreading so much of 56:24 their corruption everywhere. >> Yeah, thank you brother for that answer. When elders and 56:43 brothers are sharing the word, do you think there should be any standard about dressing? For example, avoiding things like shorts and t-shirts during the Sunday sharing just to help set a good example and prevent distractions. I know 56:57 real clothing in the church is holiness and I don't want to focus on the wrong things. So I just want to get your thoughts on finding the right balance. >> I would stick to what the Bible says, you know, in 1 Corinthians 14 there's an 57:14 expression uh 1 Corinthians 14 is speaking about church meetings and there are many things we can learn from one Corinthians 14 about church meetings. That's what it says about don't let the women speak in the church. 57:33 And uh the last verse of 1 Corinthians 14 is a principle. All things must be done properly and in an orderly manner. Let all things be done properly and 57:55 decently. So when you come dressed also we must be properly and decently dressed. But that means I don't come in my pajamas or with just a vest. Uh but I don't have to wear a suit and a tie. Like in some churches they say you must 58:13 wear a suit and a tie. That is the proper way to come into God's presence. I say the most important dress that you need to wear when you come into God's presence is humility. The Bible speaks about being clothed with humility. 58:29 You must be I must be clothed with humility, but my dress must be not offensive to anyone. So, I would not encourage allow a woman to come with miniskirts or these extremely short shorts that so many women wear nowadays. I would not allow a 58:48 church woman to come like that to a church saying because I'd say sister you're tempting other people unnecessarily as it is they face enough temptation in the world at least when they come to church they should not face 58:59 temptation please dress decently in such a way that you don't tempt others by your dress >> because you don't I'll tell that sister you don't know how men are tempted so you should dress decently and cover your body don't have any low cut blouses or 59:15 extremely short shorts skirts and for a man what is it that I don't know what temps women in a man dress I mean so I I would not make a rule on in some places they wear shorts 59:35 I mean I find in Australia they do that a lot in the hot climates I'm not here to judge them I myself would not wear it I say even in the hottest climate that I would wear long pants because it's more appropriate and decent for a man because when women are 59:54 around I don't even want to show my show my you got heavy legs don't show that to a woman in the church they don't we should not distract people but I won't make a that a law for others I never wear a tie when I go to a meeting if 1:00:10 there is a meeting where everybody else is dressed like that I don't want to look odd I would wear a suit and a tie Okay. You need more Jesus more in the office than 1:02:07 in the church meeting. Don't you want to be take walk with Jesus in a way that he'll be proud of you as a sister the way you're dressed? And supposing you're a man, if you think Jesus would be quite happy to see you wearing shorts and going, go ahead. I'm 1:02:23 not here to judge you. But this is the way I ask myself. If I'm walking with Christ, how will I do it when I'm going to a public place like a church or something? So how what how do we overcome I mean I I remember you mentioned about the sin 1:03:41 of partial is one of the biggest thing that we see in the churches u you have the words for that >> yeah I believe that we should not show any partiality to anybody and those days temptation was to show partiality to the rich and even today in 1:04:00 many churches they do show I don't say CFC churches in many other churches they show partiality to rich people by giving them certain preferences or ignoring certain things they do or overlooking something their children do because they 1:04:15 are rich or rich members. See, that's because those people want their money. Now, fortunately, we don't want anybody's money. So, we don't have to throw any favoritism to any rich person. If a rich person gets offended and goes, 1:04:28 let him go. We say goodbye. But many churches, the problem is they don't want the rich people to go away because those are the people who contribute the pastor's salary. So he'll never want to let that rich man go away cuz he'll lose 1:04:41 some of his salary. So we but we must still be careful that we don't show any favoritism to someone of our own community perhaps or someone who's a special friend of ours or someone who's rich or you know in the Old Testament there's a warning don't 1:05:00 show favoritism to the poor person that's also a warning in the Old Testament in the book of Exodus. So that can also be someone who's says okay this person is poor I'm going to show him some fear. No, we must be absolutely 1:05:13 impartial that all are children of God and we treat them all equally. And that is something we have to work on because you know like men have to work on sexual lust and women have to work on insecurity. Church leaders have to work on being 1:05:35 partial, be totally impartial. There are certain special sins certain people face >> and we must not show partiality to anybody. Yeah. You're spending three hours every day in the gymnasium. What are you doing it for? All this struggle, 1:08:44 struggle, struggle." He says, "I want to be healthy. I want to keep my body fit and strong. I don't want to be fat and flabby like a lot of people are. I want to keep all my muscles in the body strong. When the God allows the devil to tempt 1:08:58 us, it's like going into a gymnasium. We are tempted. And as we resist temptation, our spiritual muscles are built. Our friends will not tempt us. So God allows Satan and his demons to tempt us through various means. That is the way 1:09:16 our spiritual muscles are built and that is why God has allowed Satan to exist. Thank you, brother. So God allows us to become strong spiritually by being tempted more and more and more and more and more and more. So it's it's the purpose is to make us 1:11:37 spiritually strong. Same principle as subjecting our muscles to what is the principle of a gymnasium. Subject the muscles to some resistance. And since our friends won't resist us, God allows our enemies, human enemies and spiritual enemies like the devil to 1:11:57 resist us and we become strong. And it won't be forever like that. That person who first could not multiply by 12 now he can multiply big big numbers. So in the beginning he was struggling even with the 12 times table. But 1:12:12 ultimately he's can do much more complicated mathematics problems. So it's like that we will not be constantly struggling with the same thing but we'll be progressing just like a think of a child in a school. Even in 10th grade, he's struggling, but he's 1:12:27 not struggling with what he was struggling in first grade. He goes to college, he's still struggling, but he's not struggling with what he was struggling in school. He's got past all that. So, if we walk with the Lord gradually, certain areas we'll stop 1:12:41 struggling. It's possible for a man to completely finish with lusting after women, for example, though he may have been struggling in the early days. It's possible for someone to finish with anger completely though he was 1:12:55 struggling in the early days. So in progressively you can overcome okay so there was a comment from about 1:13:14 the previous question. I don't know whether you read it. Yeah. Uh I'll just read that. Uh not only that uh as you mentioned a couple times even in 1:16:11 this meeting you had tremendous opportunities to go and speak in international platforms but you decided to build a church uh not a kind of a big uh name for yourself even it was very humbling 1:16:30 um and the six plus decades of your life and your uh faithful service uh walk as a disciple and you and sister Annie and make many disciples as a calling for CFC and and the meeting you started with the 1:16:49 power of the Holy Spirit revealing day by day what our heavenly father god is and our lord and savior Jesus Christ meant to us individually. Um also brother Surin started with u 1:17:06 acts chapter 2. This man was born with um infirmities. He couldn't walk. People saw it maybe several years. He was sitting there but Apostle Peter and John 1:17:23 uh when they healed him he was walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. And they were taking note of his behavior there. And verse 11, while he 1:17:40 was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called port call of Solomon full of amazement. So we just want to thank God for your life and service. Uh and we cling to 1:17:59 your teachings uh not just me even not only just your messages your books what you have written without taking uh a single scent from this ministry and not even honor honorium from that. So we have a sister from Seattle in this 1:18:18 meeting. So she read uh some of your books including through the Bible. as that and u we got connected Austin CFC recently with her um and uh um you spoke maybe 26 years back she was 1:18:36 thinking roughly in 2000 year 2000 in Romanian church in Seattle area and first time she heard you um yeah so many of us uh have this experience of this man um as an as you are our apostle and a Bible teacher through many years of 1:18:55 your diligent study in the Bible and the word of God. So uh our understanding was opened. Not just this man was physically healed. Uh I experienced and we all experienced the spiritual healing the progress even sufferings how to how to 1:19:11 take uh the perspective of sufferings in the a new covenant and seeing those 30 years of hidden life of Jesus Christ and emphasizing on the fulfillment of Holy Spirit being be filled with holy spirit many other things. So we just want to 1:19:27 thank you and praise you for your selfless service to his body. We are extremely thankful Austin CFC in the last one year even before I like a father you came and spiritual father and 1:19:44 apostle um we want to thank you so much as elders and many of our sister and some churches from Dallas and Houston and thank you so much once again. >> Thank you all for praying for me.
