He's willing to do it. 19:00 But he will do it according to our faith. Let's come with thankfulness and gratefulness. They looked to him and were radiant. And their faces will never be ashamed. Let's desire to look at him. Let us run with endurance the race that is set 19:20 before us. Fixing our eyes on Jesus alone, the author and perfecter of faith. Let's give him all glory and praise, brothers and sisters. Lord Jesus, thank you. Thank you, Lord. Thank you. Lord, you redeemed us through your own 19:37 blood. Thank you, Lord. Try to remember, memorize. More than that, we try to understand what God is speaking to our own hearts through the his own his word. Last week we had promise. 21:54 One of the first verse Jesus said um in the Sermon on the Mount. Let's uh repeat. Please repeat after me. Matthew chapter 5 verse 3. Blessed are the poor in spirit, 22:13 for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. And this week we have a command from Romans chapter 12. Please repeat after me. Romans chapter 12 verse 10. Be devoted to one another 22:36 in brotherly love. Give preference to one another in honor. Let's say that again. Romans chapter 12 verse 10. Be devoted to one another 22:56 in brotherly love. Give preference to one another in honor. Now, I'll behave uh some children to be dedicated. 23:14 Um there about 10 10 children, 10 parents. They I'll just call out their names. They can come up here and and stand in the same order which I call out. And then brother Charles will come and pray 23:34 for all of them. And after that, we'll have a song and then brother Charles will share the word. First, I'll call out the names. So, you parents, please come. First, brother Gibin Jacob and sister Erin with their child Nathan 23:50 Timothy Jacob. Brother Peter John and sister Sanju. And brother Chinmay and sister Nithya. It's good to 24:55 see children up, babies up on the stage. They have much to say to us. That's because Jesus said, we have to learn from little children. Why don't you The Charles can come and pray. 25:53 And during the prayer, uh, the parents can keep lay your hands on your children. >> Yeah, we will pray for all these children. And as we pray, I request all the parents to lay your 26:11 hands on your child and join with me in prayer. Our dear heavenly Father, we 26:29 thank you and praise you that these children whom you have given to these brothers and sisters are a gift from you. Some of them have longed for it. And you have blessed them with 26:49 these precious and lovely children. We thank you and praise you for each one of them. And we pray for your hand to be upon these children as they grow up. We pray that your presence will be with them all the days 27:08 of their life. We pray for each one of them, Lord. We pray for Nathan Timothy. We pray for Susanna. We pray for Asher. Lord Jesus, pray for wisdom for the parents to bring them up in the way of the Lord. That you will help them. And help all these families. Provide for 28:24 their needs. And meet every need of this. Lord Jesus. And give much wisdom to counter all the evil that they acquire from the world and in school. Lord Jesus, we pray that 28:41 you will be a wall of fire around these children. And glory in the midst of their homes. Lord, we commit each one of them and their families into your hands, for we ask in Jesus' name. Amen. 29:00 Amen. Now, parents can go back. Mothers can go go to the mothers' room and then we'll have a song, then after that the Charles will share the word. 29:17 Thank you, parents. When children want to say something, it's not bad. They're just saying Hallelujah. Yeah. 30:05 Check, check. I'm going to sing because he lives, I can face tomorrow. >> [music] >> God sent his son. But >> [music] >> sweeter still the calm [singing] assurance 31:52 >> [music] >> this child can face uncertain days >> [music] >> because he lives. Because [singing] he lives, I can face tomorrow. [singing] >> [music] >> Because he lives, all fear is gone. 32:14 >> [singing and music] >> Because I know, yes, I know he holds [music and singing] the future. My life is [music and singing] worth the living just because he lives. >> [music] >> We don't fear for tomorrow because we 33:01 know who holds it. We don't know anything about tomorrow, but we know he is there with us. That's why we can live in this world without tension, without fear, or anxiety. How sweet to hold 33:24 a baby in our hands and to dedicate that baby. I remember sometime back I read something in a book where a proud, rich, young man was 33:43 driving down in his expensive car through a village. And he stopped when he saw a farmer resting under a tree. He went and asked him, "Uh man, any great men were born in this 34:03 village?" He asked. And that humble farmer told him, "No, sir. Only babies were born here." You see, all the people that 34:22 lived in history, the greatest saint and the most wicked person, they were all born as babies upon a time. They were babies. But they turned out to be different. It's all because of 34:42 the fault of the parents. The parents neglected their role, their job as to what they should do. And they didn't do it properly. Some did well 34:59 and their children grew up well and became a blessing to society. Some were just let loose and they acquired all that was around them from their friends and from the world and society and became 35:19 what they became. And it is true of us also. Some sitting here in this church having heard what we have heard it has had effect on some people real good effect 35:39 that the word of God has penetrated into their heart and has born 30, 40, 60-fold fruit. Whereas in some people's heart it is gone, it's sprouted, it wilted and 35:59 didn't bear any fruit because there was no depth of soil in them or they were choked by thorny bushes and they were they were not allowed to grow up. So on and so forth. Jesus told that as be careful as to how 36:19 you listen to and what you listen to. Jesus had a very special place in his heart for children. He said, "Let little children come unto me. Do not forbid them because theirs is the kingdom of heaven." 36:37 And he also said, "You unless you get converted and become like little children, you will not enter into God's kingdom." And he And he also said in Matthew 11 verse 25, Matthew 11:25. He said, "I praise thee, O Father, 37:03 Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to babes." Why is it that God didn't reveal all these truths to 37:21 wise men of that time? He said, he you revealed them to babes because Father, thus it was well pleasing in thy sight. Those of us who receive the word of God like babes 37:41 without our reasoning. I'm not saying that reasoning is bad. Without unnecessarily, you know, speculating and thinking about this, that, and the other, and trying to um you know, tie ends together, 38:00 trying to understand in our own reasoning. The Bible says, "Lean not upon your own understanding, but in everything you submit yourself to the Lord, and then things will change." "Commit your ways to the Lord," it says. 38:20 And as the Lord takes over, then he starts working in us to will and to do of his good pleasure. We read in the same gospel chapter 18, verse 1. Matthew chapter 18, 38:39 verse 1. At that time, the disciples came to Jesus saying, "Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" You see, I think this question they must have asked Jesus a couple of times. Um 38:56 I mean, not asked, they have discussed this a couple of times as to who is the greatest. Once here and another time just before he went to the cross. And Jesus, it says he He called a child to himself and set him 39:19 before them, it says. In Mark 9, it says he took a child. He didn't send one of his disciples to go and fetch a child from the neighbor's house. I believe this child was there already in the house in Capernaum, where Jesus 39:37 was staying. This happened in Capernaum. And I believe Jesus loved children so much that when children knew that Jesus is in the house, they would just come and flock there around him. 39:55 That's what I believe. And that's how he took one of those children. And he set them set the child before them and he said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like 40:12 this child or like children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. What is it that a child is different from an adult? It is in its innocence. 40:32 See, it doesn't keep thinking about whether this is right or that is right. Whatever the parents say or the teachers say, they just believe that. They have such receptive heart that whatever is 40:52 told to them, they receive it and believe and act upon it. You may have observed that after your children come back from school, they start acting like teachers. They want to 41:10 write on the wall what teacher was saying in class. And they tell you to sit down and not make any noise to parents. Treat you like as if you are in their class and they imitate their teachers. 41:30 And some of the little grown-up ones, they try to act like their hero, cricketer or whoever it is. They have the tendency. They are at an impressionable age. They pick up everything that they 41:49 observe, that they see, that they hear. Then they try to, you know, behave like that. And it's important as to who we make our heroes. 42:09 Who are our heroes? In Psalm 16 it says, "I have made" in one translation it says, "I have made the godly ones my heroes." Not these worldly people who are heroes in this sense of the world 42:29 who score more uh runs and caught more wickets and so on and so forth. But, these are all in this realm. It's only as long as you're alive. 42:51 But, there is for us there is a place that the Lord has promised. And whose citizenship God has given to us. He has said it very clearly in his word that we are not of this world as he was not 43:09 of this world. And we belong to a kingdom which cannot be shaken whose author and uh uh the designer is the Lord. Everything will be shaken on this earth. 43:27 But, that kingdom cannot be shaken. That is the one that God is building and of which we are citizens. Our citizenship is in heaven, Paul says. So, we are not of this world, my dear friends and my dear brothers and sisters. 43:47 Just remember, we are here but for a moment. And then we read, "Whoever humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of God." Now, they were asking as to who is going to be the next leader. 44:06 Jesus said he was going to be crucified shortly. And then they were thinking then after he goes, who will be like how we see in politics. One person is uh getting old and you know, there's so much of hankering uh as to who will take 44:25 uh the next uh I mean, chief ministership or prime ministership or whatever. People are so eager to fight for power and position. But Jesus said it should not be like that in amongst you. In the world it is like that. 44:44 But in your midst, you should be as humble as little children. And uh humble yourself like little children. If not, you will not enter into God's kingdom. Whoever then humbles himself as this 45:02 child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Why? Because children, whatever you tell them, they do. They obey. All all obedient children. They obey because they've been taught that way. That is 45:20 what how Jesus also lived when he lived here on this earth. When the mother called him when he was busy doing or playing probably with his friends. When Mary called Jesus to do something, he dropped everything and came. He was 45:39 obedient to them even though they were imperfect people. Because Moses and Joseph and Mary, they lived under the old covenant. So, don't think that Jesus and Mary 45:55 I mean, Joseph and Mary were saints. They were not saints. They were godly people. If in the old covenant if in the new covenant married couples fight and argue 46:15 and quarrel how much more it must have been in the old covenant. It You can just imagine. So, Jesus submitted to such imperfect parents and he humbled himself 46:33 seeing their faults and failures. He submitted to them. No wonder he received the validation from the Lord on his baptism day. This is my beloved son in whom I'm well-pleased. You know, 46:52 God has given us responsibility to take care of our children. What we put into them is what they will become. Moses told in the old covenant in 47:10 Deuteronomy chapter 6 you can turn with me there to Deuteronomy chapter 6 verse 5 it says You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul 47:29 and with all your might. And these words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart first. On the hearts of the parents. And then in verse 7 you shall teach them 47:47 diligently to your sons. Means daughters also includes. And shall talk to them when you sit in the house and when you walk by the way that's when you go for a walk 48:06 and when you lie down that is when you are sleeping with them you know all children have a curiosity and tendency to ask the parents to tell them bedtime stories I hope when you were small you all asked 48:29 your parents to tell bedtime stories I did and my children did and my children we slept on one bed until they were big enough to sleep in their rooms every night they used to ask us 48:48 to tell them bedtime stories and I told and told and told over the years all the stories that I knew from childhood and exhausted everything I don't think there is one story that I left which I didn't tell them including Bible stories 49:07 so it says when you lie down and when you rise up when you wake up in the morning teach them morning till evening speak about how good the Lord has been 49:24 I mean this is Moses talking to Israelites what all the Lord did to you when you were slaves in Egypt how the Lord in his might through his mighty hand brought you out 49:42 of all these plagues out of the clutches of Pharaoh who is a picture of Satan and through the Red Sea opening it up and through giving them daily manner and 50:01 healing them and sustaining them for 40 years and all those things recount and tell them how the Lord led you and his faithfulness and all these things. So 50:19 the Lord wants us to train up our children in the way that they should go. And when they are old, it says they shall not depart from it. My dear brothers and sisters, it is our responsibility to bring up the children whom God has 50:39 given us as a gift. The Bible says children are a gift from the Lord. And wonder of wonders that I see in the world is the birth of a baby. 50:56 Psalmists says in Psalm 139 I've been created fearfully and wonderfully in my mother's womb, he says. Ask any doctor they will tell you how intricate and how complex 51:15 is man's body. The health of a man a little bit of imbalance here and there in some chemicals can make you you know either invalid or disabled 51:34 or handicapped. But the Lord knows everything about you. Every cell, every fiber of your being. And uh the uh amount of every chemical 51:51 in your body, in your brain, a little imbalance in anything can lead to some disorder. Any doctor can tell you that. So, that is how God has made it. Why is it that Moses wants 52:09 I mean, the Lord wants the parents to teach children these things so that, as we read in Psalm 78 verse 6, we can turn to Psalm 78 verse 6. 52:27 It says, It says in the middle of verse 5, which I mean, the the law 52:47 He commanded our fathers that they should teach them to their children. The reason, verse 6, that the generations to come might know, even the children yet to be born. What's the reason why we should speak to 53:08 our children from morning till night? So, that the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to their children 53:26 that they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. Why is it that we are commanded to keep God's commandments. God has given us commandments 53:46 so that we can be protected. The law and the commandments of God are for our good, for our protection and safety. It's not to make our life miserable. 54:05 It's not to kill our joy, but to bless us and to make us a blessing. We read again in Psalm 34 where David says, I mean 54:22 in Psalm 34, he says to children in verse 11, "Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord." What is the fear of the Lord? It's not that I'm scared of God or I'm afraid of God. 54:41 God doesn't want us to be afraid of him and scared of him. Here, when the word fear comes, that simply means reverence and respect. I will teach you even in in Job, 55:00 first it comes in Job and then it comes in Proverbs, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So, the fear of the Lord doesn't mean I get scared of God. Not that, that I have a proper reverence 55:17 about God, about who he is. And David says, "I will teach you. Come, the fear of the Lord." But what is the fear of the Lord? What is the indication that you fear the Lord? It says next verse, "Who is the man who desires life 55:35 and loves length of days that he may see good. Number one, keep your tongue from evil. And your lips from speaking deceit. Number one characteristic of a godly man 55:53 is that he knows how to keep his tongue under control. He speaks when it is required to speak and when it is profitable to speak. Not just go on yapping, yapping, yapping 56:12 all the time. Even without being asked, some people have the tendency they call themselves and they glory in the fact that they call Others also call them chatterboxes. God has not called us to be chatterboxes and empty chatter. 56:31 Paul warns um about such people. Avoid such people, he says. Especially those who want to go on chattering all the time, yapping, yapping, yapping. He says, "Keep your tongue from evil and 56:48 your lips from speaking deceit." In the multitude of words, sin is not lacking, it says in Proverbs. And depart from evil and do good. And seek peace and pursue it. 57:07 The psalmist recognized David recognized that the fear of the Lord first begins in my speech. Because the Lord said very clearly in Matthew 11:36, 57:25 "For every idle words that men shall speak, they will have to give an account on the day of judgement. Does that stir something in you? Or we just 57:43 overlook that and say, "Oh, that is for that brother or that sister who is a chatterbox. It's not for me." It says for for us it says, "Take that word very seriously, brothers and sisters. 58:00 For every idle word that we speak, we will have to give an account on the day of judgement." And be careful as parents as to what you speak at home 58:19 because children have a tendency to imitate you. And they're quick to listen and observe. And if you keep fighting at home, husband and wife, you know, that is not a good atmosphere 58:38 for children to grow up with. And their homes also may turn out to be like that. Speak the truth to them. And whatever you speak to them, parents' words are like gospel truth to 58:58 the children. They will not question you. They will not re- reason it out with you. And be careful as to what you speak at home 59:14 because the gift that God has given you is a gift to you. That is our children. And what we make out of them is our gift back to God. 59:34 Remember that. I was a gift to my parents. And what they made out made me or you make your children out to be, 59:53 that is your gift back to God. Won't you be glad on that day to hear from the Lord that I gave you a gift and you are returning that gift to me. Pressed down, shaken together, 1:00:16 they will pour it into your lap, Jesus said. So, that way we can give abundantly back to God what God has given to us, if only we take good care of them like the farmer takes care of his crops 1:00:33 and gets a good crop. And Isaiah says, "Here are what God has given to me, me and my children 1:00:53 are signs and wonders." He says in Isaiah 8. And the children bring a different joy to the parents when they're born. And we need to bring joy to the heart of our 1:01:12 heavenly Father. Don't depend just on your Sunday school teachers. They are here with Sunday school teachers only for an hour or so in a week, but whereas you, parents, 1:01:31 you're with them the whole day, especially mothers. You're with them the whole day. You know what a great job Hannah did with Samuel and Jochebed did with Moses. 1:01:47 They both were in their home just for a short time. It says as soon as Samuel was weaned, Hannah brought him to the temple to give him back to God as she had promised. 1:02:07 And you mothers know how long it takes for a child to wean. Maybe about 1 and 1/2, 2 and 1/2 years, 3 years max, or some cases 5 years. Probably Samuel was about 5 years, and Moses also probably was 5 to 8 years or something. 1:02:25 And that little time that they had with their mothers, they had inculcated in them such godly values that they could never forget it the rest of their life. Moses, even though at the age of 40, he knew that he was going to be the next 1:02:44 Pharaoh. He counted it as trash, the wealth of Egypt, the kingship of Egypt as trash, it says in Hebrews 11, compared to 1:03:01 the riches of Christ's suff- Christ with his suffering. He he knew that he doesn't belong to this kingdom. He was not even an Egyptian. You He was not hankering for that next 1:03:20 uh uh kingship. His eyes were upon the Lord and upon the future. And I would like to close with two mothers who did an excellent job about which we 1:03:38 don't read much. Um number one is the first person we can say is Joseph. You know, Joseph was only about 17, 18 years old when he was sold to 1:03:56 the Egyptians. And his mother Rachel didn't live long. She died when she was giving birth to Benjamin, the younger brother of Joseph. And after her death, probably 1:04:15 Jacob, his father, took care of him. And narrated all things that God had done right from Abraham. How God called him. How he led him. 1:04:33 How he promised a son his father Isaac. And how the Lord led Isaac and all that um history he has he must have recounted and he must have told him about the faithfulness of God. 1:04:51 And Joseph was such a good character. We don't read any black spot about him. And you know afterwards what happened to Joseph. For the next 12, 13 years he was 1:05:10 he was a slave in Egypt and he was jailed, but yet he didn't question God. He didn't wallow in self-pity. He was God-fearing. And 1:05:29 he was faithful to God. God's eyes were upon him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He prospered in Potiphar's house and God blessed Potiphar's business. And God was with him in in jail, it says. And the jailer recognized that and gave 1:05:47 him charge of the uh inmates. And another person is Daniel. Daniel also was maybe around the same age, 17, 18 years when he was taken away 1:06:03 from Jerusalem by King Nebuchadnezzar as captives along with tens of thousands of captives. He was taken to Babylon all the way from Jerusalem to Babylon. I don't know how 1:06:25 many hundreds of miles that is. He was taken. And who did the job to sow God's word in his heart? Definitely, it must have been his mother. We don't read about 1:06:43 his mother or father, but Daniel becomes such a fine gem of a person that he excelled everybody in wisdom, in character, and everything. Even he didn't have any black spot about him, 1:07:01 about his testimony. And he served under three kings. King Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, his grandson, and then Darius the Medes. 1:07:18 Three kings recognized this man and gave him the most important position in their kingdom. We can say prime ministership or whatever. Such was the testimony of these two young people. 1:07:38 And dear young people, follow these examples. They're good examples. And parents, remember these godly characters, how they became what they became. It's all because of the parental care 1:07:55 and concern and the burden and their teaching. If you don't teach them how to live, and then the world will teach them how to live, and the world will mold them into its mold, and they will become 1:08:14 someone or something that you don't like. So, before it is too late, please take care of our children. Let's do that. It's father's responsibility. It says in Ephesians 6:4, "Fathers, bring up your children in the instruction and fear of the 1:08:34 Lord." Teach them kindness. Teach them to respect older people. In Old Testament, it says, "When you see a gray-haired man, stand up before him." That's the way you respect. 1:08:53 Don't talk back or argue or fight with older people, especially your teachers, your parents, and older siblings, respect them. And give them their boundaries. 1:09:11 Parents, and also teach them their worth. What they are worth. They are not just like other human beings on this 1:09:31 earth. Like heathen people. You are a special people. Peter says, you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, called from the kingdom of darkness into 1:09:50 the kingdom of light. So that you can shine in this world as lights. And then, our citizenship is in heaven. From where we look forward to the coming of the Lord. And we will join with him. And we will be with him forever. 1:10:09 And that is the calling that we have. Because all children, it says, foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it out. So, don't hesitate to 1:10:27 discipline and correct your children. But do it in love. Only when it is necessary. Not all the time, so they're scared of you and of of the stick. Then, in the Good News Bible, it says 1:10:45 children are just naturally silly, or they do silly things. But a good spanking will teach them how to behave. So, when there is hope, discipline your children. 1:11:02 When it is too late, when a plant becomes a tree, you cannot bend a tree. When it is tender and young, then you can. But, if you don't take proper care when 1:11:20 they are in your home with you, then they will grow up to be a nuisance in society. So, the Lord give us We all lack wisdom in this area. None of us have come with 1:11:39 fully packaged wisdom. None of us have come with full wisdom. We acquire it. We learn from each other. We learn from God's word. And let us take heed to God's word. 1:11:57 As the psalmist says, "I am wiser than my teachers because I keep your law." He says, "We gain wisdom from the word of God." And by the Holy Spirit, let us pray. 1:12:17 Our Father in heaven, we thank you for this morning time and we commit ourselves as parents into your hands. We lack wisdom, Lord. We don't know how to bring up our children. We pray for your grace upon us. We pray 1:12:35 for your wisdom. We pray that your spirit will fill us, that your spirit will guide us and lead us, and give us grace to bring up the children that you have given to us as gifts, that we may give them back as gifts to you 1:12:53 so that you will be happy to receive them. We thank you and praise you that you will do this for us. For we ask for your glory and in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. John. >> I sing I have a maker. 1:13:55 I have a maker. [singing] >> It's quite challenging. 1:15:55 >> [clears throat] >> I know God few years to raise Samuel up and do instill the values. Like that. Timothy's mother Moses' parents It's quite challenging. 1:16:15 But it depends on the values they had. Scripture says I like to read a verse in Proverbs chapter 4 verse 23. Watch over your heart with all diligence. 1:16:33 For from it flow the springs of life. As parents we have to examine our own heart and our values. Thank God in his mercy he provides us the training for the parents. 1:16:53 God has given us our body, time, and money. With all that, God is examining our life, how we use that. How we are faithful with what God has given. 1:17:12 When God gives money, he's only testing us. God gives us and tests us. God takes away and tests us. God gave situation to Joseph and he tested him. 1:17:31 He passed the test. He kept his heart right with God and the result was God was with him. That's why scripture says watch over your heart diligently. When you apply the heart of wisdom, 1:17:50 then the result is God will be close to such ones. We have seen many godly ones in the scriptures in life we have seen. God always tests. I remember brother Zach saying more than once, 1:18:08 I wish for the newly married um I wish for a gift from God that God gives a gift of financial constraints or financial difficulties for 1:18:26 two years. You wonder nobody would wish that. But what is the result? The result would be uh wisdom, disciplining, and faithfulness, an outcome of life, 1:18:45 then it produces uh God's anointing. God's anointing will uh sustain with such ones, those who are faithful in little things. May the Lord uh help us. I would like to read 1:19:03 a verse in Romans 12:2. Before we listen to the message, there is a short message where Brother Zach speaks about simple life. How important to live a simple life. And before that, I just would like to read this verse and close. 1:19:20 It says in Living Bible, "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world." Like Brother Charles was saying, "If you don't teach the values of God to your children, if your life is different on Monday and you are all professions, all what you say on Sunday, 1:19:39 there is a mismatch, children will pick up more on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday than Sunday. Your behaviors, your life will teach your children more. Our Our children learn more from our values. 1:19:58 What we value is very important. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Even think. What we think matters. Then you will 1:20:16 learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you." May the Lord help us. So, let's listen to this short message. Brothers, please play it. >> I am so immensely thankful to God 1:20:44 that I had a wife who was willing to live extremely simply when we had a very little. That was the only reason why I've never been in debt in all our years of marriage or my whole life. Which was easy in my single days, but 1:21:00 not never been in debt for anything. I say if I can't afford it, we don't buy it. I never believed in buy now and pay later. No. That's why I say if you use a credit card, please be extremely careful. Do you know the number of people 1:21:18 who have ruined their lives with credit card debt? Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy and then no end to that buying. Then how shall we pay all this money? It's not worth it. Why not live a little more simply? We live simply. We didn't 1:21:33 buy new clothes. We bought only what is absolutely necessary for our home. Don't make money your goal. >> [clears throat] >> Make If God gives you money, fine. And many of you you think you have very little. I'll tell you what the devil will do. 1:21:51 Listen to me. It's the devil's standard tactic. He will always make you look at people who have more than you. Cuz that's the way he'll make you unhappy. Do you think the devil will ever make you look at people who have less than 1:22:07 you? Never. Cuz then you'll be happy. He doesn't want you happy. I remember once one couple came here many years ago it was to see me and they were talking about, "Oh, brother, we have so little and we are struggling." I 1:22:23 said, "You know there's a slum down here about a mile away. I want you to just have a walk down there and come back and then talk to me. You know the cure was there? Walk through that slum. See all those married couples living there and come back to 1:22:36 me. Okay, you got any problems? No, no problems. No counseling, nothing. They just had a walk through the slum, that's all. The devil will always make you look. You can earn 50,000, 80,000 rupees a month, 100,000 rupees a month and you won't be 1:22:54 happy. Cuz God will The devil will show you somebody who's getting 150,000 rupees a month. He won't show you that person who's earning 20,000 a month. Because you'll be fantastically happy then and the devil doesn't want you to 1:23:06 be happy. This is how it is with money. You know, let me get what they have. You go somewhere, you say, "Ah, I I I want to get that for my house." If it's useful for the house, get it and if you can afford it. Otherwise, don't get it. 1:23:22 Just like women look at a sari, they say, "Wow, I wish I could get that sari." And they pester their husband for the next so many months to get that type of sari, whether they have money or not. You must know how much money you have in 1:23:34 your home and don't unnecessarily buy things. And I tell you, this credit card has destroyed so many Christian homes and Christian ministries because you become in come into debt. You cannot have an anointing. I don't believe God ever anoints a person who's 1:23:51 in debt. And I believe that is the number one reason that many many of you do not have a richer anointing. I don't know about your finances, but it's possible you're carelessly using your credit cards. Could be one reason. I'll tell you why, 1:24:04 because God spoke to me. I know that in some situations you need a credit card, but if my boys, for example, they live in the United States, in many situations in America, you need a credit card whether you like it or not. I decided never to have one. I 1:24:20 don't need one here in India. So, I've always lived with a debit card. But, sometimes you need it. There are certain situations where you cannot do it. For example, you get airline tickets and so many things, you have to have a credit card. Otherwise, 1:24:32 you can't do it. Some airlines will accept a debit card, most of them don't. So, um I saw this verse, you must owe no man anything, and I told my boys, "Listen, okay, you have to have a credit card because of certain situations in the US, 1:24:47 like if you rent a car or something, they'll never give you a car on a debit card. It has to be on a credit card. Okay. If a single month goes by in your life without paying that credit card bill, that shows you're unfit to have a credit 1:25:05 card. That's the test I gave them. One month went by and you didn't pay that credit card bill, you're unfit. Either throw it away or make sure that doesn't happen again. And 1:25:27 I believe all four of my boys are without debt at all. And that is a very strange thing for 99% of people in America. Do you know that? That's because most Christians don't teach that it's a sin to be in debt. Is it a sin to have sex with somebody 1:25:45 else's wife? Oh, yes, of course. I'll tell you, it's equally a sin to be in debt. See what it says there? Romans chapter 13. Romans chapter 13. 1:26:08 Now, verse 9. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. 1:26:27 Verse eight. You shall not be in debt. What's the difference? It's all lumped together. Don't commit adultery. Don't murder. Don't steal. And don't owe anybody anything. 1:26:44 Can it be clearer than that? What would you think if you kept on committing adultery every month with somebody? Yeah, it's only once a month. Or worse than that, you just murder one one fellow every month. You know, it says in the previous verse 1:27:01 don't don't be in In fact, that comes before these verses. Don't owe anybody anything. Take it seriously. That's why the only way to do it is husband and wife must work together and recognize what can we afford. I want to live within that amount. 1:27:17 What can we afford? And I tell you God will bless you. I'm so thankful. You know, the advantage of it is that our children saw how we would struggle. And even when we were living here in Bangalore, even after the church 1:27:37 started, I said, "I want to prove that it's possible to live within our income." Let me tell you some of the things we used to do. We could not afford to buy rice from the market. So, my wife and I would stand 1 hour in 1:27:57 the ration queue out there on Hutchins Road to get ration rice, which is cheaper. It's not so good quality. You have to clean out a lot more stones, etc. You stand in the ration queue. I remember so many years to get sugar 1:28:14 because we couldn't afford to buy it. We were not the rich type who could just throw around and get whatever we want. I say God God could have made us millionaires, but he didn't. He taught us taught us to be disciplined. He taught us to asked 1:28:29 tested us to see what would we do when we have little. God never gives a man a ministry without testing him. My wife would stand there in the ration queue to get kerosene. Because gas was too expensive for us. We'd cook on a kerosene stove. 1:28:48 This is when we are children. At home, right in this house. Then we'd stand in the queue to get kerosene. We'd stand in the queue to get this because it was cheaper in the ration shop. And we wouldn't travel if we couldn't 1:29:02 afford it and we uh even when my mom had a car and it was lying in our house I hardly ever used it. I hardly ever used it because I couldn't afford the petrol cost. It was lying there. Once in a while I had to take the children out once in a 1:29:15 while and that's why I think I did about when I finally sold it after 25 years the average was about 600 km in a year. I drove it 50 km a month. Cuz I couldn't afford it. I said I don't want to get into debt. 1:29:34 I said a scooter is good enough. I said I and if my wife and children we'd go on a scooter. Or make two trips. Determined I will not get into debt. I'm not going to buy something I can't afford. We never buy new clothes for the 1:29:51 children on their birthdays. We couldn't afford it. We'd buy new clothes for them and the old clothes wore out whether it was birthday or not birthday. I said let the rich people do what they like. We're not in that category. 1:30:04 We would take when they were in kindergarten we'd take a pencil and cut it into two and say use the small pencil in kindergarten because you may lose it. We can't afford to keep buying new pencils. Little children lose pencils. 1:30:15 We'd cut a eraser into two. You may think we are stupid, crazy. You know what is the result? 72 years without debt of 1 rupee. I'd like you to beat that record. You may think I'm crazy for cutting pencils into two and erasers into two. 1:30:29 All these fellows who spend lavishly, just see how much debt they are in. Just see how much unhappiness there is in their homes. Which do you prefer? Little little things. We would not buy fish. Too expensive. You don't need fish. You can live 1:30:46 without fish. I'm not talking about today. Today we are God has given us enough. Our children are well off. We have plenty. But those were the days when our children were in school and the pay the fees and so many things. We would not 1:30:59 buy anything we could not afford. We never went out to a restaurant. Even ice cream was a once in a month luxury. Why? Not because we were misers. Even those days, I never took a cent from the church. I've never taken a cent 1:31:15 from this church in 37 years. I'm not going to be a paid worker, but I was not going to be in debt and I was not going to be dependent on another person. I'm not going to send reports and get money from people. No. But boy, 1:31:31 what a lot of lessons we learned from it. And what a lot of lessons our children learned from it. And they have learned the value of taking care of things. Get your shoe resoled. If there are holes in the bottom of the shoe, don't 1:31:48 throw it away. There are cobblers here. You can get it resoled and use it again. Use it again. Little little things, you know, we can be careful. Yeah. If [clears throat] you are careful with things like this, I was the most thing I was most eager 1:32:04 about, I'll tell you honestly, it's the same today. Lord, I do not want to lose the anointing of the Holy Spirit. At any cost, give me an anointing so that I can build your church. Tell me the price for it. And the Lord said, 1:32:22 "Be faithful with money." And he gave that verse to me from Luke 16. If you are not faithful with unrighteous money, Luke 16:11, God will not give you the true riches. 1:32:41 Luke 16:11. If you're not faithful, let me paraphrase it. If you're not faithful with money in your house, God will not give you the anointing of the Holy Spirit. No. You're careless with money, you think you got And I'll tell you the other 1:32:58 thing. The great danger is when you have plenty. This is the other extreme. Oh, I'm not in debt. But you have money, just because you got plenty, you can go and splash it around, going regularly to restaurants and wasting 1:33:16 that money which you could have used for some poor people in the villages in Tamil Nadu. Why should I give to the poor villages in Tamil Nadu? Let me go and spend hundreds of rupees and have a grand dinner in this restaurant today 1:33:26 and the other restaurant tomorrow and the other You don't do it even today. You may think we're skimping on this, skimping on that. Say what you like. In the day when God opens the record books, let's see what the final record is like. 1:33:46 I can see it already today in the lack of anointing there is in so many people who could have been mighty servants of God in many of our churches. I don't know their private life, but I can say they are not faithful with 1:33:59 money. That's why God does not commit the true riches to them. He doesn't the revelation of God's word. You know what all revelations God has given me in his word? True riches. God said, "Be faithful with money. You were faithful when you had little, 1:34:13 now be faithful when you have much." I said, "Lord, help me." I don't want to buy things just because I got money. Dear brothers, there's a word here for everyone who wants to have a happy marriage. And if you have find if you find your 1:34:30 husband extravagant, you know what these people who ride horses do with the reins? Give a little pull. If you find your wife extravagant, give a little pull. You must help one another. Money is a very, very important area. 1:34:49 The people who have little get into debt, and the people who have much splash it around thinking that this is my hard-earned hard-earned money. One of the first things God taught me when I was in the Navy was, "It is not your 1:35:00 hard-earned money. It is what I gave you as a salary as a gift. Take it." Thank you, Lord. I learned that lesson 50 years ago when I was working. Learn it. You may all be getting fantastic salaries, 1:35:17 but I tell you, I don't envy you who can splash around money which I could not do at your age. I feel sorry for you. You'll have your grand restaurant meals, but you won't have the anointing. You'll have your grand vacations, 1:35:37 endless money splashed around here and there, but you won't have revelation on God's word. You can have your choice. I made my choice, and I don't regret it. I feel sorry that God has got so few prophets in India because they're so careless 1:35:52 with money. I have longed and longed for 37 years to see prophets rise up in all of our CFC churches. I see a few. One, two, three, four, like that. There should be many more. God has not united you in marriage 1:36:13 just to keep each other happy, but to build his church. Be faithful. And don't complain when your husband can't buy something. Live simply. Help the poor. Don't splash it all on yourself. God will reward you abundantly. I'll give you one verse on 1:36:33 that. Psalm 41. Psalm 41. How blessed 1:36:53 is he who considers the helpless, the poor. The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble. Do you know how many days of trouble the Lord has delivered me from? I cannot number it. The Lord will protect him and keep him alive. 1:37:08 He has protected me numerous places. He'll be called blessed on the earth. He will not give him over to the desire of his enemies. I've had numerous enemies because I stand up for the Lord. The Lord has never given me over to their 1:37:22 desire. The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed. In his illness, he will restore him to health. I cannot tell you number of times I've been sick and up the next morning, healed. Otherwise, I would not have been able to 1:37:38 serve the Lord all these 46 years. By the grace of God, I've never missed a meeting in 46 years due to sickness. It's not something to glory in. Well, my wife has had a part in it to keep me healthy, but God has taken care 1:37:58 of me. That's all. I give the glory entirely to God. I say to you, my brothers and sisters, care for the poor. That is why I went mostly to the villages in Tamil Nadu for so many years. Just to break my back sitting in 16 1:38:18 hours in those bumpy buses to these conferences, but I see the result today. Well worth it. And I haven't broken down because of that. God's given me health to still. So, don't take care of yourself. 1:38:38 Take care of the Lord and his work. Put it first. You will never regret in this earth or in eternity. May you all have a marriage that goes on happily forever and ever. 1:38:55 Amen. They lived happily ever after. It's not a fairy tale ending. It's a real Christian marriage the way it should be. Let's pray. Let's bow our heads. Heavenly Father, thank you for a wonderful time you gave us this afternoon 1:39:14 and for these wonderful young married couples beginning a journey in life which can become glorious or disastrous. Help them to obey the manufacturer's instructions. Help them to obey down to the last detail. To be humble enough to acknowledge that 1:39:33 they don't know the rules as well as you do. Bless them and lead them on, Lord. We commit them to you. Each one here, I believe there's tremendous potential here which the devil sees and which he wants to destroy their lives and which you see 1:39:52 and you want for yourself. Help them not to be overwhelmed with what they heard today but to recognize that step by step, little by little, through many mistakes like a child learning to walk, falling down, getting up, falling down, getting 1:40:07 up, they can also learn. But I know, Lord, it was through many falls that I slowly learned and I'm still learning. Help us all. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. >> CFC website.
