How marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior's love for me. I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene. 11:29 I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene. And I wonder how He could love me. A sinner condemned unclean. How marvelous, how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. 11:56 How marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior's love for me. For me it was. For me it was in the garden. 12:21 He prayed not my will but died. He had no tears for His own breath. He had no tears for His own breath. But spread drops of blood for mine. How marvelous, how marvelous, how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. 12:54 How marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior's love for me. He took my sins and my sorrows. He took my sins and my sorrows. 13:19 He made them His very own. He took my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins and my sins. He bore the burden to carry and suffered and died alone. 13:39 How marvelous, how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. How marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior's love for me. 14:09 When with the ransomed in glory, His face I in last shall see. To be my joy through the ages, to sing of His love for me. 14:36 How marvelous, how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. How marvelous, how wonderful, is my Savior's love for me. 15:00 You are my strength when I am weak. You are the treasure that I see. How marvelous, how wonderful, and my song shall be. 15:31 How wonderful, how wonderful, and my song shall be. Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. 15:57 Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. Taking my sin, my cross, my shame. 16:23 Lift up my all in all. When I fall down, you pick me up. When I am tired, fill my cup. Lift up my all in all. 16:44 Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. 17:17 Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. Amen. We have to say that God's been very good to us these past couple of days. 17:39 And we wanted to continue to dwell in the presence of God and hear his word. So today we will first hear from Brother Parisuttam, who has been an elder in another village, church, 18:03 in a place called Kale Arkoyo. He's been with us, I don't know exactly how long, maybe 20, 25 years. And as a result of that, there are other churches that have opened up nearby that he oversees. So he has a responsibility for them as well, and also for Sri Lanka. 18:31 And we have some churches in Sri Lanka that he visits and oversees. We thank God for brothers like him who have taken responsibility for these different churches so that they keep them moving forward. 18:52 And some of you may have heard his testimony a few years ago when he spoke here after the Lord took home his 32-year-old son. And his son had been mentally incapacitated all those 32 years, could do nothing. 19:13 And Brother Parisuttam and his wife, imagine that if you have a son able to do nothing for himself for 32 years, and you look after him, and you love the Lord, that will really make you a saint if you do it with joy. That's what made Brother Parisuttam what he is. 19:35 God takes us through brokenness to a place of abundance. And I know that testimony that he gave that time, it's on the internet, has been a blessing to many people around the world. So we are happy to hear our brother Parisuttam. 20:17 Let that be glory to God, and thank God for God has been kind enough so that I can participate in this conference. Let me turn to Matthew Chapter 24, verse 12 and 13, which is the theme of this conference. 20:40 "Because lawlessness has increased, most people's love will grow cold, but the one who induced to the end, he will be saved." When reading this verse, the later part of verse 12 I read, "Most people's love will grow cold." 21:02 That means most of the people's love was once hot, but now it has grown cold. Why? Because of the lawlessness is increased. So it shows that the Lord has told all these things in advance to prepare us for the days of persecution. 21:28 So when I compare this verse with other places where the Lord has spoken about this lawlessness and all that, Matthew Chapter 10, verse 22 and 23. There also the Lord is telling the same words. "You will be hated by all because of my name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved." 21:52 So here we see, "You will be hated by all because of my name." And again we also read Mark Chapter 13, the same thing, Mark Chapter 13, verse 13. "You will be hated by all because of my name, but the one who induced to the end will be saved." 22:19 Again we read Luke Chapter 21 also, that 17 to 19, there we read the same verse, 21:17 to 19. "And you will be hated by all because of my name, yet not a hair of your head will perish; by your endurance you will gain your lives." 22:39 From these verses I understand that the Lord wants to protect us, to give us strength to endure what are all the sufferings that we may face in the days to come. Here it states that the lawlessness will increase, so we know that in the world the lawlessness is increasing, that people don't have respect for the law. 23:07 And recently in Tamil Nadu, the government passed a rule that everyone riding on the two wheelers should wear their helmets. And the court also has given a verdict like that, but last week I was travelling in the Madhuri city, I saw many people, even in the city, many people running vehicles without wearing their helmets. 23:35 So it shows that we have no love for the lawlessness, that is lawlessness, it is increasing everywhere, not only in this one, it is a small example, but everywhere you see there was no respect for the law. It is in the word, not only in the word, but in God's law also people will lose their respect for God's words, that is lawlessness. 23:57 Lawlessness, lawlessness is sin, we read from the Bible lawlessness is sin. So when the sin is increasing or lawlessness is increasing, the people once who were hot in love for the Lord and also for the fellow believers, it is growing cold. 24:14 So I want to meditate on the word love. What is love? So it is an attitude of heart or mind towards God and towards our fellow beings. The Lord said, if you love me, you will obey my commandments. So we say that loving the Lord means obeying the commandments. 24:37 I don't think so. To me it is an attitude towards God that we love the Lord so we want to obey the commandments. So if we are loving someone else, we will hate what those people hate. If you want to please them, you will try to do things that are pleasing to Him. 24:56 So when we love the Lord, our attitude is changed, we want to hate what the Lord is hating. So when I got converted, I accepted the Lord and in my beginning years, I used to read the Bible very seriously. 25:17 When I got sleepy, I feel sleepy, then I opened the Bible, then I will be fresh and I will go through the Bible. During the night times, when my wife and one daughter I was having at that time, so they will be sleeping in one room. 25:34 If I want to read the Bible, I may feel sleeping, but if I open the Bible and read, I will go to the other room and put the light. And they will be sleeping without disturbing them, I will be reading the Bible. Because I loved the word of God so much in those days. 25:48 After some time, I lost their love. So once I finished reading one time, and then there was some coldness in my attitude towards the word of God. See, I want to mention here, I want to read from Exodus 16:31. 26:10 There, when the Israelites came from Egypt, the Lord gave them food by manna, miraculously. Every day morning when they opened the door, they will miraculously see the manna from heaven. Verse 16:31, "The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey. 26:38 It was very tasty to them. It was a honey taste." And after some time, in Numbers 11:8, we read that. Chapter 11, Numbers. Chapter 11:8, it reads, "The people would go about and gather it, and grind it between two millstones, or beat it in the mortar, and boil it in the pot, and make cakes with it. 27:13 And its taste was as the taste of cakes baked with oil. Once it was tasting like honey, but now, after some years, now it tastes like cakes baked with oil. So the same manna, but after eating for some time, it has become routine, and it does not taste as honey as earlier it was." 27:42 Here we read from the beginning, in this chapter 11, from the beginning verses. We see there, in verse 4, "The rebels who were among them had greedy desires, and also the sons of Israel wept again and said, "Who will give us meat to eat?" 28:02 These people were dissatisfied with what they have been eating. The manna was provided to them miraculously from heaven. It is an act of love to the people. They were saved from the slavery in Egypt, and they were punished and treated roughly, and they were suffering and crying. 28:25 They were groaning, and after listening to their groanings, only the Lord let them come out of that slavery. So just like that, we were saved from sins. Now, in the footnote in my Bible, I read this, "Dissatisfaction comes when our attention shifts from what we have to what we don't have." 28:50 Previously, they were suffering by slavery. They were severely punished, and they were groaning to the Lord. The Lord led them miraculously out of Egypt, and gave him manna. They ate it, and it was very tasty. Now, the love for that manna has gone. 29:09 So, love for the word of God has gone within me. I felt it, and after that time, I realized a lot. Once it was very tasty, like honey, but now it is just something baked in oil, like a cake. How the taste has gone down. 29:25 So, dear brothers and sisters, what I want to express is that we may feel that I am not growing colder in my love for the Lord, or in my love for fellow brothers and sisters, but it is actually happening within us. When the love for reading the word of God and meditating on it, our attitude changes towards the Lord. 29:44 So, I want to say an example. When new couple are getting married, the new couple, they want to spend time with one another. They want to speak more with each other. They want to be alone from others. So, they want to enjoy fellowship with each other alone. 30:03 So, do we have that longing, that is in our attitude, to spend time with the Lord, to be alone with the Lord? We have been hearing the good news for us. We have to spend time with the Lord. We cannot make it a duty. So, once the new couples are married, they want to please one another. 30:24 The wife may try to cook the food which the husband wants to eat or is interested to eat. And the wife also in the same way, husband also in the same way wants to please the wife, whatever will be pleasing to the wife. So, they want to enjoy the time and the fellowship. 30:43 The same wife is cooking the same food, washing the clothes and doing all the duties. But it has become a routine. There is no taste. So, that means once it was honey tasty, now it has become the oil baked cake. So, out of routine things, we don't enjoy the taste once it was in the beginning. 31:05 So, just like that, our relationship with the Lord also may go down. So, we have to check ourselves. In 1 Corinthians chapter 13, the whole chapter is written about love. So, there we read that, in chapter 13, verse 7, I read that, 31:29 "Bears all things, love bears all things." So, in the beginning of the years, once the new couple comes together, the wife may not know how to cook delicious food. So, tasty to respond sometimes. But since the man loves the wife so much and she wants she, 31:49 and she wants he, nothing more. So, even the food is not tasty, "Don't worry, I want you, not the food." So, the man will say, "I want you." And the girl will say, "I want you." So, when the food is not tasty or anything goes wrong, 32:09 they can bear with one another. Sometimes the food is completely spoiled, even if the woman does not know how to cook in their younger age. So, now, newly cooking and she may not prepare the food tasty to respond, but she will bear it with her. 32:27 So, don't worry, we can go to the hotel. Because they want each other. So, now, can you say that, "Lord, I want you," not the blessings from you, Lord. Even if you don't give me health or wealth or whatever it is, even if there is any sort of blessings, no problem. 32:45 I want you. I want you alone, Lord. Can you see? In Philippians 3:8, we read that Paul was saying, "But now, you also put them all aside." Sorry. Philippians 3:8, "More than that, I count all things to be lost 33:14 in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ, Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish, so that I may gain Christ." So, he is counting everything as rubbish compared to knowing the surpassing value of knowing Christ, Jesus my Lord. 33:34 I have suffered the loss of all things. He is ready to suffer everything. But in the world, the preachers are now preaching. You can get money or blessings in any way. You can get a job, you can get everything. So, the people come to the Lord to get everything. 33:52 But the true love is giving everything. So, I don't care for anything. I want you. I want you alone, Lord. So, for surpassing value of knowing Christ, Jesus my Lord, I am ready to suffer or lose everything. And also in Hebrews 11:24, we read that. 34:12 In the old chapter of Hebrews 11, we read that. How faith works. In Hebrews 11:24-25. By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to endure ill treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 34:36 considering the reproach of Christ, greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. For he was looking to the reward. So, he was looking to the greater reward that he can get after this life. He was not interested in the worldly affairs. 34:51 So, here it says, even Jesus was not born there. But here it is written in 26: "Considering the reproach of Christ, greater riches than the treasures of Egypt." For he was looking to the reward. Moses. In Moses period, Jesus was not that. 35:07 But in his spirit, he is considering this. Considering the reproach of Christ, greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. For he was looking to the reward. So, by faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king. 35:24 For he endured seeing him who is unseen. So, out of the greater riches he expected, he was not fearing the wrath of the king. For he endured seeing him who is unseen. He endured everything. He expected a reproach, ill treatment. 35:49 He might have been killed, but he did not care for anything. So, that was the attitude of people. Then we read also in 36 and 37, the type of people. The others experienced moxings and scourgings. Yes. Also chains and imprisonment. 36:07 They were stoned. They were sewn into two. They were tempted. They were put to death with a sword. They went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated. Everything they bad for their faith. 36:22 Dear brothers and sisters, nowadays we are everywhere the prosperity gospel is preached and people are misled. They are coming to the Lord to get something from the Lord. Yes. Actually, we have received a greater thing, a greater riches, with no one purchase for my money or anything. 36:41 It is our forgiveness of sins and salvation. So, it is a greater blessing. We cannot equate this with any other worldly riches or honor or anything. But, people don't value that. That today's preachers are preaching the prosperity gospel and the worldly blessings. 36:59 But, we, what is our intention? I want Lord. I want you alone. I want you. Because you have given yourself for me. So, I want you alone. I want to be with you. Whether His presence is pleasing to me. Whether I want to read the Bible with interest. 37:19 Whether we do the ministry or reading the Bible or spending time with the Lord. What is our attitude? Whether we do it as a duty bound work or we do it interestingly. It shows the attitude. Once, I was working. Nowadays, I am retired and eight years back I got retired. 37:38 But, before that, when I was working, I was in service. As brother was telling, I was having a mentally retarded son at home. Other children also were there. I would take the bag with me and the Bible to the office. And, from there, when the office comes to a close at five o'clock, I would immediately 37:58 start going to some place with another brother to meet somebody else or tell the gospel. It was in those days that many churches came up around us. But, nowadays, I feel that. Whether, Lord, whether my love for you have gone down. 38:11 For, I am now free and I have no job. I am at home. But, I need not spend time with my son now. But, there is no need. New churches are not coming up. Why? So, I want to examine myself, Lord, whether my love for you have gone down. 38:32 Why? When I was under pressure. Normally, we think, when we get more money, we will give to the Lord. And, when we give more time, free time, I can spend it profitably for the Lord's work and all that. No, it's not. So, I had all things done. 38:52 The limited time, I got. So, it's not a time investment or anything. It is God's work. So, when we please the Lord, when we love the Lord with all our heart, things are very easy. And, even though we have time now and more experience and all that now, I just examine myself, 39:11 Lord, why? What's wrong with me? So, unless we examine ourselves whether our love for the Lord has gone down in any way, whether our love for reading the words, reading the word of God or serving the Lord or doing the ministry or anything, whatever you do, with what attitude we do it. 39:28 We may spend more time, we may do more work, but with what attitude we do it, whether we do it for a duty's sake or we do it interestingly, wholeheartedly and lovingly. So, when we do something out of love, that is acceptable to the Lord. 39:43 When we do it as a duty-bound work, that is a traditional work, it is a debt work. It is not pleasing to the Lord. So, another thing I want to read is from this lawlessness. So, we read that why this love has gone down in many people's lives. 40:07 So, in the world, always the lawlessness is prevailing and it is increasing, you know all. But, among the Christians also, the lawlessness is increasing. So, those people who claim to the teachers of the Lord's good news and also the teachers of the world, 40:26 they are the lawless people. We read the same verse in Matthew 7:21-22. The Lord is telling the people who claim to have prophesied and done the Lord's work, miracles and all that. You see in Matthew 7:22. 40:48 Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? And in your name cast out demons and in your name perform many miracles. And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness." 41:03 The same word, lawlessness, here also the Lord is telling to the people who claim to have done many, many things for the Lord. They have prophesied, they have cast out demons and done many miracles in the name of the Lord Jesus. 41:15 They claim, but the Lord said, "You who practice lawlessness." So the same word we have read here and there, that is in Mark and Luke and Matthew 10 and all that. So lawlessness is, so people are sinning and doing lawless works, they are not abiding the law of the land or law of God. 41:37 And yet they are doing the work. So it is not pleasing to God. The Lord is hating that I say, "You do lawlessness." So because of this lawlessness only, these people who are once signing for the Lord is disgusted and the love is going down. 41:56 See here in, you have read from the morning also, you have read from 2 Timothy chapter 3. There you see the love for God or love for others have gone down from replacing, that love is replaced with some other love. In 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse, you all know that. 42:25 In the morning you also read it. 2 Timothy chapter 3, "In the last days, the difficult times will come." See, in one translation it is written that it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. Here we read that, "For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money." 42:44 And then we, at last in verse 4 we read, "lovers of pleasure." See, lovers of self, the love for God has been replaced by the self-love. Now, once we have love for the Lord, and now we may love ourselves, our pleasure, our profit, our convenience. 43:06 So, the love for God has been replaced by the love for self. And then love for money. And then love for money. And many people love and money. So, their love has shifted from God to money. And love, lovers of pleasures. 43:24 So, the world is turning to be pleasure-oriented. Everywhere, they become lovers of pleasures. So, when Christians, or preachers, or the ministers of the Lord, they claim to be. So, they become the lovers of money. They become the lovers of self. 43:43 And they live a luxurious life. And they are now pleasure-oriented. And people who are doing the Lord's work sincerely and following the Lord, they are tempted to think like this. And we have read in the morning, also brothers quoted this. 43:59 Psalm 73, it was written by Asa. In Psalm 73, we read that. "But as for me, my feet came close to the stumbling. My steps had almost slipped, for I was envious of the arrogant. I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 44:19 For there are no pains in their death. And their body is fat. They are not in trouble as other men. Nor are they plagued like mankind. Therefore, pride is their necklace. The garment of violence covers them. Their eyes bulges from fatness. 44:35 The imaginations of their heart run riot. They mock and wickedly speak of oppression. They speak from on high. They have set their mouth against the heavens. And their tongue parrots through the earth." So when wicked men prosper, 44:51 so these people who are claiming to have been the workers of God and servants of God, and they are getting all riches and honor and they are not punished. And those who are sincerely following the Lord and doing the Lord's work, 45:08 look at them. Then they may be tempted. "Oy Lord, I am... Am I following you in vain?" May think like that. "Behold, these are..." In verse 12 we read. "Behold, these are the wicked, and always at ease. They have increased in wealth. 45:27 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure, and washed my hands in no sense." So people who are once fire for the Lord, now they may use to think, "Am I following the Lord in vain?" They are claiming to be God's servants are rich. 45:45 Once I was listening to one young preacher preaching like this. So the Lord is interested in the health of His servants. But one old man is coughing now and then and preaching. "Is it he a true servant of God?" He was preaching like that. 46:05 How arrogant he is speaking. He is a young man. He is criticizing an older servant of God. As he is preaching with coughing now and then. And God is interested in the health of His servants. And then why He is coughing, He says. 46:21 So such as people now criticizing the other servants of God in that way. And they flourish and they are prospering in wealth and material things. And they are living a comfortable life. And so other true servants of God, 46:38 if they are not enduring in the love of God by the Holy Spirit's power, they may be tempted to think like this, "Lord, I am serving you. Why is it happening like this?" And also in these passages we are warned about many deceptions. 46:55 From the beginning of this chapter, in the beginning of this chapter, the Lord is warning people about the deceptions and the misleadings. Here we read that false teaching, verse 11 we read that, "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 47:18 Because of lawlessness it is increased." So many false prophets say, they are, one of the teaching is that secret coming. In this chapter, and clearly our brother has explained this. And also here, the Lord is explaining this very in detail. 47:34 There is no secret rapture, secret coming. So only open. Open. So here, the Lord is warning in verse 26. "So if they say to you, Behold He is in the wilderness, do not go out, or behold He is in the inner room, do not believe them. 47:51 For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be." So, what they are teaching, the Lord will come and take His saints before the tribulation. And there will be no tribulation for the saints. 48:06 After that only the tribulation comes. But it is clear that. And after that, it is written. And verse 31, "And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, 48:20 from one end of the sky to the other." So means, after this, it is clearly written. So after this only, the angels are coming and gathering together, the elect, elect. So the elect people will be there. So the Lord is telling that in Matthew chapter 10 also, 48:39 that God's servants may be persecuted. So we may face persecution in one way or the other. We will not face the same problem all of us. So each of us will face different problems. Here we read in Matthew chapter 10:21-22, 48:54 "Brother will betray a brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. You will be hated by all because of My name. But it is the one who is endued to the end who will be saved. 49:10 But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next for three years." So the Lord says, "You will be persecuted. You will be hated by all men, all nations for My name's sake." It is clearly spoken of. But yet they are teaching that you will not be persecuted, 49:28 you will not pass through tribulation and all that. So the Lord is interested in us. So He is forewarning us. He says, "I have told you everything in advance so that you are not misled." So dear brothers and sisters, these false teachers, 49:45 false teaching, we can be protected only by knowing the scripture correctly, the correct doctrine. We must thank God for giving our brother. He has clearly explained us. And it is also very clear here. So even then many people are deceived. 50:06 Why? Because people are not interested in listening to the truth. The truth what the Bible teaches and the truth concerning ourselves. So we also read in 2 Timothy chapter 4. We have read in the morning also. 2 Timothy chapter 4. 50:27 A time will come that people will not endure the sound doctrine. So they want tickling messages. Verse 3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, 50:48 they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. They are not interested to listen to the correct messages, right doctrines. 51:03 They want something. They are not ready to follow the Lord. They don't want to suffer or they don't want to humble themselves. They want to listen messages selectively to selective preachers who can tickle their ears, who can please them by giving some promises about prosperity and all that. 51:23 So the true servants of God are there and true message is there. They are not ready to listen. So the preachers, false preachers are preaching what the people like to hear. So they want to hear something. The preachers are ready to preach what are the things that people are interested to listen. 51:44 So the false preachers are increasing. So only by knowing the scriptures correctly we can save ourselves from calling a prey to these false teachers. And again we read here that even the elect are misled because of the great miracles, great signs. 52:07 In verse 24, "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead if possible even the elect." So when sometimes some brothers used to go to some other meetings conducted by, 52:25 they call it healing crusades and all that, people go and tell, "Brother, how it is?" "Yes, brother, they are also teaching the same thing. They are also using the name of God. The miracles are happening. They are wondering what sort of people they are." 52:39 It is clearly that we should not identify a man by his gifts but his fruits. The Lord has told us clearly that you must identify the tree by its fruits. So by man's gifts we cannot identify them. Once when they were right, they would have received that gift from God. 52:57 But now that gift is not taken back by the Lord because it is irrevocable. God wants to give, will not take it back. But we have to see their fruits. Instead of seeing their life, if they look for their gifts only, they will be mislead. 53:14 So all these lawless things, false doctrines, false miracles, false signs, false teachings, and everything will happen in the last days. So what is the way to preserve ourselves in the Lord, to preserve our love for the Lord? 53:34 That is only depending completely on the Lord. So here we read in the morning also in Jude verse 24 that God is able to protect us from stumbling. Jude writes here that God is able to protect us from stumbling. And also in Romans 14:4 we read, 14:4 54:04 Who are you to judge the servant of one another? To his own master his stance are false and evil stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. The Lord is able to make him stand. Only the Lord would be able to make us stand. 54:15 Only by his mercies we can stand. If tribulation comes, if persecution comes, if the Lord wants to protect us, he can protect us. Brother was telling yesterday that Paul was protected by giving a thorn in his flesh. He received it. 54:31 It is a protection from the Lord. It has protected him. Like that in our homes. Whether our health is affected, our wealth is affected, our children or any atmospheric home. The Lord might have given us to protect it. If we love the Lord, we will receive it. 54:50 And Lord, it is from your hand I accept it Lord. So it is for our protection. So when the Lord loves, he is correcting, he is disciplining us. So in the interest of our well-being only, the Lord is giving us something. But if you don't love them, he will murmur and crumble, "Lord, why it is happening to me? 55:08 I am serving you faithfully. Why this is happening?" So that is all the lack of love. So I want to close it by saying that the Lord loves us. So he is disciplining us. He is protecting us by giving something. Yes, it is a discipline or a thorn in our flesh or some troubles or sufferings. 55:29 Only through that the Lord can protect us. He is loving us, so he is disciplining us. So if we don't love him wholeheartedly, we will get sidetracked and we will fall back and our love will grow cold. If we say, "I am right, I am doing the ministry, I am doing everything as before, I have no lack of love," then we will be deceiving ourselves. 55:55 So, Satan is trying to deceive and mislead us. False teachers and false prophets are his agents. But if we are not interested to listen to the correct doctrine and the right teachers and the true servants of God, or we don't read the Bible and meditate on it, or if we do things under duty-bound traditional work, then the love will be growing colder and colder and we will be misled, no doubt. 56:14 Only God, if we depend on God completely and humbling ourselves and seeking the Lord every day, and the Lord is able to protect us by His Holy Spirit. We read in Galatians 5:22 that love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. 56:40 So if we have to preserve the Lord or endure in love till the end of our lives or to the end of tribulation or the end of the world, the one thing is necessary, that is love by the Holy Spirit. So only the Holy Spirit can protect us, preserve us in the love for the Lord, because we read that it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. 57:03 So, may the Lord give us a deep insight in that. Let us examine ourselves whether we have the true love that we had in the beginning. in Songs of Solomon also, in chapter 8 and verse 6 and 7 also, we read about the love, just like it is the strongest death. 57:23 So, do we have that strong passion for the Lord? Let us examine. Thank you. So now we will listen to another brother, Prakasim, who is an elder in Chennai fellowship. 57:50 Speak in Tamil. Michael, can you translate? Thank you. 58:29 I heard the words of warning and words of encouragement and I have been encouraged in the church. I am thanking God for that. Matthew chapter 24 verses 12 and 13. 59:06 Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. The reason for the love to grow cold is because lawlessness has increased. 59:32 That is how the Bible is pointing it out. The only reason why the love has grown cold is because the lawlessness has increased. It is not that lawlessness increases in one day. 59:57 It keeps on increasing day by day, little by little, it keeps on increasing. In James, in his letter, the first chapter, he says like this. Verse 14. 1:00:20 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust is conceived, it gives birth to sin. And when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. Just like how when lust is conceived, it gives birth to sin and then to death. 1:00:56 Like that, lawlessness keeps on increasing and then, you know, the love goes cold. If somebody comes and tells me, I saw that and then I fell into sin immediately, I will not believe it. 1:01:19 But before you did that sin, there was that lust which, you know, came into your heart. If, you know, the moment the lust came into my heart, 1:01:39 if I had gone to the Lord and told, Lord, this kind of lust has come into me. And then if I had, you know, wept bitterly because of that lust. Maybe when I am lying down in my bed, I get a thought, you know, a thought which is not good. 1:02:08 If I had, you know, risen up and then, you know, I had put my face in the pillow and wetted it with my tears. That godly sorrow, the Lord would have turned it into my salvation. When I was meditating on this, one thing the Lord showed me. 1:02:38 Whenever, you know, Zach has been reminding us of this word, very often, and I have applied it to me in my life, he would say that you should be a person who was meditating on the Calvary love very often. 1:03:01 I took it very seriously in my life. And I started meditating on that in my life, very often. How did the Lord Jesus love me? Like, how we heard in a song, like how roses trampled on the ground, 1:03:32 the Lord was trampled. At that time also, you thought of me, Lord. Your love has been so great, and I have been meditating on that. When I keep on meditating like this, what would happen in my life? 1:03:53 Psalm 39. The psalmist says a word like this is Psalm 39. 39 verse 3. My heart was hot within me. While I was musing, the fire burned. 1:04:17 Then I spoke with my tongue, or I made requests with my tongue. The word which I want to underline and show to you, While I was musing, or while I was meditating, the fire burned. Very often as I meditated on that, the fire will start burning within you. 1:04:49 How will a man's lawlessness increase within him? Because he is keeping on meditating on this lawlessness. How is a man growing in sin? He is keeping on thinking about that sin. 1:05:13 Like now, how the brother has taught us, If I keep meditating on the love, what will happen to me? The love of God will keep being poured into my life more and more. I would be a man who is growing more and more in the love of God. 1:05:35 The more I meditate, the more the fire will burn within me. What will this fire do? The book of Acts, chapter 28. Acts, chapter 28. 1:05:55 I want to read verse 1. When they had been brought safely through, then we found that on the island was Malta. The natives showed us extraordinary kindness. 1:06:20 But because the rain had set in, and because of the cold, they kindled a fire. But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them in the fire, A viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on its hand. 1:06:40 What would fire do? The more the fire burns within me, what will come out? All the vipers which are inside me will come out. When I keep meditating on the love of God, and the fire burns within me, what will come out? 1:07:08 All these vipers which are hiding within me, they would come out. If I meditate on it for one day, Only one day that viper will come out. If I am meditating on it once a month, It will come out only once a month. 1:07:28 If I am meditating on it once a year. If I am meditating on it once a year. But if I am a person who is meditating on it every day, Every day I can identify the vipers which are there in my life. When I keep on meditating on the love of God. 1:07:52 When I keep meditating on the love of God. And the Lord would start showing me the vipers which are hiding within me. That is why we hear that every day we must meditate on the love of God. 1:08:14 Why is it that this lawlessness never overcame Jesus Christ? He came in a flesh like mine. But this lawlessness never overcame him. The only reason for that is, 1:08:36 We read in the book of Hebrews like this. In chapter 5. Hebrews chapter 5. Verse 7. In the days of his flesh. He offered up both prayers and supplications. 1:08:59 With loud crying and tears to the one able to save him. From death. And he was hurt because of his piety. As we hear that every day Jesus Christ was also crying out to the Father. 1:09:20 The one who was able to save him. With loud crying and tears. Beloved. Whenever we meditate on this very often. What would happen? Every day some kind of a vipers would come out in my life. 1:09:44 Maybe it is a vipers which I killed yesterday. The same thing would appear the next day. Lord, I saw this only yesterday. As the same thing has come again. But it is slightly different. If I am honest about that. 1:10:09 The Lord would help me to identify this and purify myself. Sanctify myself. The only reason for that. When I am meditating, the fire of God should burn. If I miss out on the fire. 1:10:33 If I say that I don't want to set this fire up today. If I am careless about that. The fire would get cold and the lawlessness will increase. 1:10:54 And the viper would be very comfortable hidden inside. There is no sin in me. I don't have any iniquity. There is no unrighteousness in me. I am fine. You and I will deceive ourselves like that. 1:11:17 But whenever I stand in the presence of this fire continually. The prophet Isaiah shows like this. Isaiah chapter 33. Isaiah chapter 33. Verse 14. Sinners in Zion are terrified. 1:11:41 Trembling and says the godless. Why are the sinners in Zion terrified? Because their sins have increased. Why are they trembling and says the hypocrites? Because the viper snakes are inside. 1:12:02 Who among us can live with the consuming fire? Who among us can live with continual burning? He who walks righteously. And speaks with sincerity. He who rejects unjust gain. And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe. 1:12:24 He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed. And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil. These are all things which happen when I stand in the presence of fire. 1:12:47 And I am setting the things on fire. I would be continually walking on righteousness. There will be no unrighteousness seen in me. There will be no harsh word which will come out from my mouth. Rude word. Rude. A rude word will not come. 1:13:06 I will not be a person who is, you know, looking for unjust gain. I will not even, you know, listen to any wicked suggestions. 1:13:27 If someone comes to me and starts speaking something wickedly. No, please don't tell me that. Maybe you have understood it wrongly. Once a person came to me. He came and told me that they are talking about you like this. 1:13:49 Maybe you have heard it wrongly. I told it, it won't be like that. He is a person who shuts his eyes from looking upon evil. He is a person who has been meditating on the Calvary love. 1:14:15 Because he is meditating on the Calvary love, there is this fire which is burning in his heart. Many times the Lord has warned me like that. He has noticed it. If you had looked at any one woman with lust in your eyes. 1:14:40 The anointing which is on you will keep dropping. But if you keep your eyes pure. The anointing will keep increasing upon you. I have been much encouraged by this. 1:15:00 He didn't leave with that. He will dwell on the heights. Verse 16. He will not be in a place where he is sinking. The Lord would set him up on a rock in the heights. 1:15:23 His refuge will be in the impregnable rock. His bread will be given him. He will never be hungry any day. The Lord will be continually speaking to him every day. His water will be sure. 1:15:43 Verse 17. Your eyes will see the king and his beauty. They will behold a far distant land. To whom is the Lord writing all these things? 1:16:06 The Lord is writing all these things for a person who will stand before that burning fire continually. Who among us can live with the continual burning? Who among us can live with the consuming fire? 1:16:28 It's that continual burning the fire. As we heard today and even yesterday. When I am continually meditating on the love of the Lord's shoulder and Calvary. 1:16:55 If this love for the Lord, it will keep on setting it fire for me. Not one day will I grow cold in love. Every day, the relationship which I have for my Lord will keep on increasing. 1:17:17 I am not going to avoid sin because the Lord will put me in hell if I sin. I will be a person who will be running away from sin because how much this sin is hurting you and bringing grief to you, Lord. 1:17:46 Every day, the Lord will help me to grow in this love. May the Lord help us to grow in this love constantly. May the Lord help us to grow in this love. May the Lord help us to grow in this love. Amen. 1:18:13 So, in practical terms, what does it mean to dwell with the burning fire all the time? That is an amazing verse that we just heard. Who among us can dwell with the continuous burning? 1:18:40 With the consuming fire in Isaiah 33 and verse 14. To live with the continual burning and a consuming fire. Many people pray, Lord, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and fire. 1:19:03 I pray that too. But do you know what that actually means? To dwell with this continuous burning fire. Many people don't understand what they are praying for. They think it's something exciting and they want a great ministry or something like that. 1:19:22 Yeah, God will give a ministry, sure. Like Brother Parasitam was saying earlier how churches were being planted so frequently around there. How many of us see that? Churches being planted. We think that we had to be very gifted. 1:19:43 We had to preach profound sermons to plant churches. God takes very ordinary people and plants churches. And all the clever people who preach so many great sermons, they don't see it. There's a lot of entertainment in Christendom today. 1:20:04 A lot of Christians are just wanting to listen with itching ears. But what is the result of our labor? By their fruit you shall know them. Not by how well they can preach. What does it mean to live with a consuming fire? 1:20:24 In New Testament terms, I want to explain that simply and clearly. If you turn with me to 1 Peter in chapter 4. We must relate everything practically to our daily life. And not just live in nice pictures of being on fire for the Lord or something like that. 1:20:49 In practical terms, it means this. The fire is always a picture of judgment. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire burns up things in us that needs to be burnt up. 1:21:09 And in 1 Peter 4.17, it says, It is time for this judgment or this fire of judgment to begin in the house of God. And it must begin with us first. 1:21:30 So what does that mean? In the house of God, judgment must begin. In practical terms, it means that if God's fire is burning within me, I will discover things in myself. That's what my brother was saying. 1:21:53 When Paul licked a fire, that viper jumped out. Couldn't stand the fire. And if the fire is burning in my heart, the viper will jump out. And I will be able to then kill it. And what does that mean to judge myself? Lord, this was there all along. 1:22:16 I thought I was clean. But I wasn't. There was this terrible, evil thing lying inside. And the fire of God drove it out. And I thank God I got a light on it. I can kill it. And if we live in this continual burning, we will live in a continual cleansing 1:22:37 of the things that are unlike Christ in our life. Every viper is something unlike Christ. A viper is a picture of the devil. And there's something that we've all inherited from childhood called the flesh. And the Bible says there's nothing good that dwells in that flesh. 1:22:58 It's full of vipers. The fire of God will drive it all out. And so it's one of the things that we have taught in the church that we must live in a daily judgment of ourselves. A daily repentance. That's also linked with 1 John chapter 3. 1:23:25 We have the hope of the second coming of Christ, we read in 1 John 3 verse 2. And if you really have this hope, we will purify ourselves. There again it's referring to fire. Fire that purifies. We will purify ourselves just as he is pure. 1:23:46 If I were to paraphrase it, it means until I reach his standard of purity, I will keep on purifying myself. We can stop purifying ourselves when we have reached the perfection of Christ's nature. And he says that will happen worse too early when he comes again. 1:24:09 So if you have a passion, I don't believe everybody has this. If you have a passion in your life that I want to be Christ-like. The purpose with which God saved me was to make me like Jesus Christ. The purpose with which God created Adam was that he might reflect the image of God. 1:24:29 But he didn't. He fell. Christ came to restore that image in us. Say, Lord, I want to reflect the image of God on earth and all these wretched things I've inherited. My forefathers that are in my flesh, I want them all to be exposed and burnt up. 1:24:51 And if you're serious about it, he will allow you to see it in some situation. You're dealing with some brother and you'll suddenly find a wiper coming out. It could be at home. Some provocative situation at home where something goes wrong. 1:25:05 In the home, something goes wrong which you didn't expect. And a wiper comes out of your heart. You think the problem is out there. No. God allowed it to expose a wiper in your heart. Now what are you going to do with it? 1:25:19 You can look at it and say, Oh, that's not a wiper. Okay. Then it will remain there. Call it what it is and judge yourself and put it to death and purify yourself. You'll be a little more Christ-like. That is the will of God that every year you become a little more like Christ until he comes again. 1:25:42 He who has this hope purifies himself until he reaches standard of the purity of Christ. So what I want to say to you in practical terms, my brothers and sisters, is that if you are not doing that, it proves that you are not really serious of wanting to be like Christ. 1:26:02 You may sing whatever you like in the songs and say many things, but you're not serious about following Jesus. The only person who can honestly say I'm serious about following Jesus is one who is judging himself about something or the other every day. 1:26:18 Every day. I don't want to lose a single day in my life without discovering something unlike Christ in me. Do you find that in your life? Do you find many days going by in your life with nothing to judge? 1:26:41 Uh-huh. Have you already become like Christ or what? Nothing to judge? There's nothing for you to judge in yourself yesterday or today? Don't deceive yourself. You are imagining that you have already become like Christ. 1:27:01 I am not. I am the first person to say I have not yet become like Christ. And therefore, and God is my witness. I judge myself every single day. And I find something, sometimes it's something very small, sometimes it's a little slip up here. 1:27:18 Something to repent of every day. I am determined to get rid of every wretched viper that is in my flesh. And that's, that is how our ministry also becomes more pure. If the channel becomes pure, the word of God comes forth with power. 1:27:41 We can study a lot and prepare a lot of sermons. But if the channel is not pure, it comes out and it doesn't bring the result that it should. And that's why I say the church must be a place where judgment begins here. With us first. 1:28:02 The other verse in this connection is 2 Corinthians chapter 7 and verse 1. It's a wonderful promise when God says in 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians 6, 18. I will be a father to you. 1:28:24 And you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. You know, we've got so accustomed to thinking of God as our father that we don't realize what a tremendous privilege it is. If you were to go to any Old Testament saint, Moses, Elijah, or John the Baptist and say, 1:28:44 You can call God as father. You can call God as father. You can call God as father. He says, oh no. Call God as father. Impossible. He is God to be dreaded, feared. Almighty God. That's how they were in the Old Testament. 1:28:59 Till Jesus came and the Holy Spirit came and comes into us and calls God father. A tremendous privilege. And he says, I'll be a father to you. You'll be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. So what should we do? 1:29:12 Okay. Verse, next verse. Because we have these wonderful promises that we can be sons and daughters of God Almighty. Let us sit back and relax. No. Many people sit back and say, God is my father. I'm okay. No. If you really believe that, let us cleanse ourselves. 1:29:36 There is a cleansing that Jesus does, which I cannot do. That is from all the sins I've committed in my life. And if I sin today, even a slip up in one word, I cannot cleanse it without the blood of Jesus. If you speak one rude word, one rude word, or have one bitter thought against someone, 1:30:02 or what is very common among believers, you join the accuser of the brethren in saying things about somebody without knowing all the facts. You heard something and you say something to that person. You did this. 1:30:23 Really? What evidence do you have? You heard it. Christians are so used to passing judgment on the basis of gossip. I've done it. I've finished with it. I say, Lord, I will not judge on the basis of gossip because then I'm holding hands with the accuser of the brethren. 1:30:48 I will not accuse God's people. It's not my business. I'm not their judge. God is their judge. It's the pastime. Like some people watch cricket. Other people, their pastime is to sit and speak evil about others. And they are believers and they'll talk about the new and living way. 1:31:08 And they will talk about Christ coming in the flesh. And they'll talk about the baptism in the Holy Spirit. And they will speak in tongues. And they will also hold hands with the accuser of the brethren. It's evil. Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 1:31:29 How many of you are interested in perfecting holiness in the fear of God? And that is, as God shows me something, I say, Lord, it's me. I'm to blame. I judge myself. I'm not here to judge others. What will happen? 1:31:51 Little by little, we'll become Christ-like. And the water of life that flows out from us will bless people and lead them to the Lord. That should be the experience of every single one of us. Can you imagine if all of us sitting here, what are we, a thousand, a thousand, two hundred people, 1:32:14 every single one of us decides from today. My goal in life is to be Christ-like. I do other things. I work in a job. I earn my living. I've got to bring up my family, all that. But my ultimate goal is to become more like Jesus Christ every day. 1:32:36 Imagine if all of us decide that today and say, Lord, as you give me light every day, I will judge every viper that comes out of my heart in some way, through my eyes or in my thoughts or in my language. I'm going to kill it and finish with it. 1:32:56 There are many more. But the ones I see, I will kill. I believe we will experience revival in our churches, if we decide that I'm going to stop all this accusing of the brothers, all this speaking evil and gossiping when we don't know 1:33:18 all the facts. Why do I have to do it? God has not appointed us to be a high court judge determining what is wrong with all the believers. It's none of my business. The Bible says, mind your own business. Don't be a busybody in other people's matters. 1:33:36 That's a very important exhortation in 1 Peter chapter 4. I feel it's one of the most important exhortations that many of us need to hear. 1 Peter 4, it says, it's in the same connection of judging ourselves. 1:33:56 What shall we judge ourselves in? We were reading 1 Peter 4, 17. We must judge ourselves first. What is the context? Verse 15. There's two verses earlier. Don't suffer as a murderer. I don't think anybody here is in danger of becoming a murderer. 1:34:18 A thief? I hope nobody here is going to be a thief. Or an evildoer. I don't think you'll be evildoers. Or, fourth one, a busybody in other people's matters. There are four evil people mentioned here, all in the same category, 1:34:39 all in the same boat. Murderer, thief, evildoer, and a busybody in affairs that don't concern you. It doesn't concern you one bit, but you want to poke your head into it. And speak about it. And speak about that person and the other person. 1:35:02 You are in the same, according to the word of God, you are in the same category as murderer, thief, evildoer. Don't glory that you're not a murderer, thief, evildoer. If you're a busybody in other people's matters, you are in the same category. 1:35:16 Then it says, let us judge ourselves. Let us judge ourselves. Verse 17. And cleanse ourselves. I was challenged when I read the Apostle Paul's experience. When he said in 2 Corinthians 4, 16, we'll read this verse in closing. 1:35:37 2 Corinthians 4 and verse 16. Our inner man, the last part, is being renewed every single day. Did you get it? Let me paraphrase it. I am becoming, 1:35:58 Paul is saying, I am becoming a little more like Jesus Christ every day. I mean, if we become a little more like Christ in one year, that itself will be a great thing. If your wife can say to you, darling, you're looking more Christ-like since you, 1:36:15 in the last one year. Wow. Or if your husband could say that. But every single day. What a radical man he was. My inner man is being renewed into the likeness of Christ every single day. 1:36:36 The only way that's possible, if he judges himself every single day whenever he gets light on something. Instead of blaming somebody else or instead of making an excuse for it, Lord, that was me. It's my fault. I'm sorry. 1:36:51 I spoke about things which I did not know anything about. I got involved in matters that don't concern me at all. And the thing that concerns me, the wipers in my own heart, I'm not dealing with. My beloved brothers and sisters, 1:37:05 please take my exhortation. You will thank me when you stand at the judgment seat of Christ. I believe you will thank me if you take this seriously today, that from now on, you're not going to be a busybody in anybody's matters, 1:37:20 except your own. You're not going to give opinions about things you don't know anything about. Even the high court judges sit six months sometimes to pass the judgment on a small thing. But we pass the judgment so quickly. 1:37:34 In ten minutes, we have expressed an opinion. What amazing arrogance and pride and conceit. Let's finish with it. It says about Jesus in Isaiah 11, he will not judge by what his eyes see or his ears hear. Because he just could be wrong. 1:37:56 You know that verse? Let me read it to you. Isaiah, in chapter 11, it says about Jesus that he would never judge by what his eyes saw or his ears heard. Isaiah 11, verse 3, the middle. He will not judge 1:38:16 by what he sees or what he hears. But he will look for righteousness to see. What is the righteous thing here? We all have a tendency to judge by what we think we have seen or we have heard. I believe God allows the sun to rise 1:38:37 in the east every day and set in the west to teach us one thing. Don't believe your eyes. The sun is not moving. The sun is absolutely stationary. You think it is moving. Don't believe your eyes. It's like that. Don't judge by what your eyes see 1:38:58 or your ears hear. But there's one thing we can see clearly. What dwells in our own flesh. That we see crystal clear. Judge that. And we can progress into the likeness of Christ. This is the mark of the fear of the Lord. 1:39:14 It says about Jesus in verse 3, he delights in the fear of the Lord. He's so much of the respect for his father that he would not judge by what his eyes saw. He would see something and say, well, I'm not sure. He would hear something 1:39:27 and say, well, I don't know. Somebody says that. How do I know that's the whole truth? And first of all, why do I need to find out the whole truth? Is it my affair at all? Is none of my business? Leave it. I believe if we had followed 1:39:42 this principle in the last one year, just this 2019, all of us would be much more spiritual than we are today. We can start today to make sure at least in the next 365 days, we've made some progress and gradually we come to the place 1:39:59 where, this is my longing, that every single day a renewal takes place in my life. That I want to be a little more Christ-like inwardly. That is my goal. I'll honestly confess it. The inner man is renewed every single day. 1:40:20 If Paul can have that, why can't I have it? Brothers and sisters, many of us talk about new covenant and new and living way and Christ coming in the flesh and victory over sin and we live at such a pathetic standard just like so many 1:40:35 other nominal Christians. What's he just looking down upon them? Let us cleanse ourselves and stop boasting about things which are not true, just doctrines and theology instead of a life that manifests the glory of Christ. 1:40:50 Let's pursue that with all of our heart and say, Lord, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and fire up, consuming fire in which I live every day that I can be pure as you are pure. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, please help us. 1:41:10 I believe many of us are needy and are crying out to you and we don't want to just make a decision right now that we forget tomorrow but something that we will live in every single day and remind us by your Holy Spirit as to what we should do 1:41:26 the next time we see a viper coming out of the fire through our mouth or our eyes or in our thoughts or anywhere to know what we should do and if we are not seeing them Lord, then baptize us in fire till we begin 1:41:47 to see them till we are cleansed thoroughly. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Amen. 1:42:36 We'll be right back.
