holding the Bible and preaching different things 17:45 And they all hold the Bible And they all hold the Bible But they are preaching so many different things Some things, sometimes completely opposite things 18:05 And then it says we must not be tossed about by these winds We must be established in the doctrine we understand 18:25 We must be established in the doctrine we understand And here it speaks about deception by the trickery of men There is a lot of deception by the trickery of men There is a lot of deception in Christianity today 18:49 There are many people who are saying they are preaching the truth but it is not the truth You yourself know how in Andhra there are so many groups preaching many different things 19:09 And all of them say we are the true church of Christ So how do you know which is the true church of Christ? Only if we read the scripture carefully 19:31 But not only that Because sometimes some clever person can say no, no, no, that verse doesn't mean that And try to twist our mind to think something else So does it mean that only those who are studying the Bible for 30, 40 years can avoid deception? 19:59 Avoid deception? What about new believers? What about new believers? So in the morning I was mentioning how you can discern whether a person is seeking his own 20:19 Or seeking the glory of God Jesus was a very very humble person He did not always He did not mix with all the rich people like Herod and Pilate and Anas and Caiaphas 20:39 We have to be very careful about preachers who are always mixing with high level politicians and bishops and archbishops only See, you never see Jesus going around mixing with those people 21:03 He mixed with ordinary people who loved God So I have no respect for preachers who are always mingling with high level politicians 21:23 I straight away say they are all unlike Christ And also those who are always mingling with high level religious leaders So many meetings you find nowadays 21:43 Where a Christian preacher is there And all some politicians and bishops and all are sitting on the platform Can you imagine Jesus having a meeting with Herod and Pilate and all sitting on the platform? 22:05 No So then these people are not following Jesus And I would never go to such a meeting Because that is not a meeting glorifying Jesus Christ And I can get nothing from that meeting 22:29 So that is what when I look for I want to discern a preacher I want to see is he a humble person like Jesus Christ But God has also given us a guide in scripture To find out whether something which is being preached is the truth or not 22:53 See, look at this expression here In Ephesians 4 and verse 14 It says here about the trickery and deceitful scheming and craftiness Three words The trickery of men and craftiness and deceitful scheming 23:15 If you are affected When I was a very young Christian I didn't know the Bible at that time So how to protect ourselves from false teaching deception 23:37 When we don't know the Bible fully See, even if you are a very sincere person born again It may still take you 10-15 years to understand the Bible So, do we have to wait 10-15 years before we protect ourselves from deception? 24:02 And remember another thing See, this type of printed Bible was available in the world only in the last 500 years In English And in Telugu even much less time than that 24:33 Maybe 150 years, right? So, what about all the Christians who lived from the time of Pentecost till 1580? They had no Bible How can they be protected from deception? 24:55 See, when Paul wrote to the Ephesians The Ephesians didn't have any Bible Today we are thankful we got the Bible But there in Ephesus There may be a church of 500 people 25:15 Nobody has got a Bible Because there were no Bibles And Paul is writing to them Don't be deceived by the trickery of men And all the false teachings 25:36 So, I want to show you two verses By which those Christians in those days Protected themselves from deception without a Bible So, that is a help for those who are newly born again Who still don't know the Bible 26:00 And it is a protection for all of us So, the first verse is 1 John chapter 2 John wrote this about 65 years after the day of Pentecost 26:21 So, the people he wrote to didn't have a Bible And he writes to them in 1 John 2:26 And he writes to them in 1 John 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you 26:51 So, what is he telling them? How to protect yourself from deception Today we will say, please read the Bible carefully That's good That's good But 27:11 1900 years ago when there was no Bible What do you tell people? Even the New Testament letters which Paul wrote Only few people had copies Even the New Testament letters which Paul wrote Only few people had copies So, John says here is how you can be protected from deception 27:36 You have received an anointing from the Lord And that abides in you You know what that's referring to? That's referring to the person of the Holy Spirit 27:58 So, even though those hundreds of thousands of Christians in the early days did not have a Bible The day of Pentecost itself 3,000 people were born again Nobody had a Bible 28:19 And even the letters in the New Testament were not written at that time And there were so many deceivers So, how could those 3,000 believers protect themselves? Through the Holy Spirit 28:43 So, they said you got an anointing in you, the Holy Spirit See, whenever you receive Jesus Christ into your heart It is the Holy Spirit who comes in How do we know? 29:03 Because there are some people who teach After you receive Christ and later on you receive the Holy Spirit But see what it says in the Bible in Romans 8 and verse 9 The last part 29:29 If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ He doesn't even belong to Him The Spirit of Christ is the Holy Spirit So, here He says if you have not received the Holy Spirit You are not even born again 29:49 You don't belong to Christ To be born again is called being born of the Holy Spirit Now, I am saying this to you because otherwise you will be confused To be filled with the Holy Spirit, that is another thing 30:14 The Ephesian Christians were, had received the Spirit When they received Christ they were born again And the Spirit came in And the Spirit came in But to such Christians He says in Ephesians 5:18 30:35 Be filled with the Holy Spirit So, when we put all these scriptures together what do we understand? When you receive Christ you are born again 30:55 And the Holy Spirit has come in You don't have to wait to receive the Spirit after that But you need to open up all your life so that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit 31:15 So, if you understand this you will be saved from a lot of confusion And so, that is what John says in 1 John 2 And verse 27 You have received an anointing 31:35 That is the Holy Spirit Even if you were born again today The Holy Spirit is in you And you don't need anyone to teach you about these deceivers So, when He says you don't need anyone to teach you 31:56 He is not talking about teaching in relation to the Bible Because Christ Himself has appointed teachers in the Bible to teach us His Word But here He is speaking in the previous verse about deception 32:16 So, He says you don't need anyone to teach you that that person is a deceiver And this person is true That that preacher what he said There is something wrong with that And there is something wrong with that man How do you know that? 32:36 See what it says in verse 27 The anointing will teach you about all things And that is true And it is not a lie And it has taught you And you abide in Him See? 33:03 The Bible says that when the Holy Spirit comes in When Christ comes in We become alive Till then we are spiritually dead So, when we become alive 33:23 We become We become Sensitive For example If you put a dead man's hand on a hot stove He will feel nothing Because he is dead 33:45 But If a living man touches a hot stove He will immediately take out his hand Not after half a minute No, no, no Immediately He will say That's hot Like that 34:05 If you have The Holy Spirit in you Without a Bible That's like giving money to the devil I never do it When I get letters When I get letters from people Please send money here We are doing this for the Lord Never, never, never 34:28 That is like putting money down the toilet And flushing it out But so many Christians are doing it They read that letter Oh, they are doing some work I better send them some money 34:48 Before you do that You ask yourself Would Jesus or Paul ever send a letter like this?
