First: God's power to defend His churchThe first thing to learn through suffering is God's great power, as Jesus walks among the lampstands and holds His people securely in His hands.
Second: God's heart that none should perishGod takes us through suffering to show us His heart of love, because He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Your heart is in greater danger than your bodyDuring times of suffering, the greatest danger is not physical harm or death, but spiritual damage to the heart through hypocrisy.
God's loving correction of the churchesOut of deep love, the Lord addresses hidden cancers, worldliness, and loss of first love in the churches through direct and caring warnings.
Fear God and do not live in fear of circumstancesIf we truly fear and reverence God, we will not need to fear anything else on this earth.
Third: God's promises are for the overcomerThe third thing the Lord wants to show us through suffering is His rich promises, which are specifically given to those who overcome.
The tree of life and protection from the second deathTo the overcomer is granted the right to eat of the tree of life in the paradise of God and immunity from being hurt by the second death.
Hidden manna, a white stone, and a new nameOvercomers receive hidden manna and a white stone inscribed with a personal, intimate new name known only to the receiver.
Authority, white garments, and reigning with ChristThe faithful overcomer receives authority over nations, white garments, a secure place in the book of life, and a seat with Christ on His throne.
