0:07 Would you turn with me to the book of Micah? Micah chapter 6. I want to speak a few words from that from that book. Micah's after Jonah. 0:25 Towards the end of the Old Testament. Micah chapter 6 verses 6 to 8. This will be the crux of my message today. Micah 6 verses 6 to 8. It says, 0:44 "Wherewith shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Verse 7, "Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams or with 10,000s 1:03 of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?" Verse 8 is the is the main verse I want to look at. "He has showed you, oh man, God has showed us 1:21 what is good. And what does the Lord require from you and me? But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Verse 8 is the what is the main verse I want to speak from. 1:41 God has showed you and me that which is good. And what does God require from us? That we do justly, that we love mercy, show mercy to others as well. And very importantly, that we walk humbly with him. To do justly in our relationship with 2:04 others, to be fair, to be honest, to be equit- to be equitable, to be right in our relationship with others, to love mercy as well, to show mercy towards others. The mercy we've received from the Lord to show and love that, express that in 2:22 love towards others. And importantly that we would walk humbly with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. To walk humbly with God. Now, verse six and seven, very important verse I want to touch on very briefly as well. 2:41 In that in those verses it says, "What can I give to God for my sins? Uh would I give my firstborn sons? Would I give thousands of rams and all of that? 10,000s of rivers of oil?" The answer is no. It's always amazing when I read verses 2:58 like that where God declares in the Old Testament especially that "I never required sacrifices from your fathers." But we know, God, you did tell Moses and the Levites and the Jews to do sacrifices for their sins, burnt 3:16 offerings and all that. But God says, "Sacrifices and offerings is not what I'm looking for." You see that many times in the Bible. Psalm 50, sorry, Psalm 51, David says that, "Burnt offerings and sacrifices is not what God is interested in." 3:33 A broken and a contrite heart, he says there. Psalm 40 says the same thing. "I don't want offerings and sacrifices." In fact, there's a verse in Jeremiah 7 verse chapter 7. That's a very amazing verse to me when I saw that. God says in Jeremiah 7:22 3:50 and 23, "I never asked your fathers when I brought them out of Egypt to offer to provide burnt offerings or sacrifices. But God, you did tell them to do that." But the Lord is saying, "The spirit of what I was looking for they missed. 4:10 They thought I was pleased with blood and all of those things, but there's more that I was looking for." Verse Jeremiah 7:22 and 23. Verse 23, God says this, "But this is what I commanded them. This is what I was looking for. 4:25 I was looking for them to obey my voice so that I could be their God and they could be my people and walk in all the ways of my commandments that it may go well with them. What I'm trying to point out here before I move on is 4:41 God is not primarily primarily interested in a man's sacrifice. He's looking for his heart, a heart of obedience, of humility, of obedience to God's word. That was the spirit of what God was looking for even in the Old Testament. 4:57 What does God care about the blood of an bulls and goats? How would that satisfy anything? What did God care that the Jews on the Sabbath day did not do any work? How does that make God What does that add to God? There was something more he was looking 5:14 for in all those commandments. There's a spirit. Spirit of obedience. Of love for him that he was looking for. Paul said once in 2 Corinthians 3 that the letter kills, but it's the spirit that gives life. I wanted to I want each one of us here to 5:31 remember that. If you think you're doing this and that for God, but your heart is away from him, you can be sure all your works all those things, sacrifices you might think you're offering to him are useless if your heart is not right. 5:45 So, I wanted to point that that point out that from that Micah 6:6 and verse 6 and 7. Like I said, verse 8 is really what I wanted to talk about, specifically this idea of walking with God. It says there that we would walk humbly 6:02 with him. Walk in step by step with the Lord Jesus Christ. That to me is the essence of my life as a believer. It's what brings me comfort all the time. You know, if I think of one I You've heard me say this before, but I say it 6:18 again. Hebrews 13:8 is probably one of the most comforting verses for me in the Bible, where it says, "God is the same. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." I find great comfort in that verse. In other words, 6:33 as I walk and stay in Christ Jesus, I can be steady just as he is steady. No in and out, no back and forth. If my anchor is set in Christ Jesus, I can be steady just as he is steady. I want to walk with him. 6:51 Walk in humbly with the Lord all the days of our lives. I want to share examples of such people in the Bible. What What we can learn from their lives, what we also might pursue by looking at these people. To walk with God day by day. 7:10 Why do some Christians experience such a life many others do not? Many are content with just I believe in Jesus and I'm going to heaven. While others say, "No. I want to know God more day by day and walk with him every day. 7:26 Actually hear from him in my heart that God, in times of trouble, can speak to me and give me comfort. When I'm confused, the Holy Spirit brings uh brings uh assurance and direction and guidance in my heart. 7:44 I want to see the Lord Jesus and to know him more, walk with him day by day. You know, in Ephesians 2:18 it says that we have access to the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ by His Spirit. We have one access to God the Father 8:01 through Christ. Jesus Christ has opened a way for you and me wherein we might fellowship with God as our Father every day. Where we can hear from him and be led of him moment by moment. Honestly, again, this is what brings me comfort as a believer. 8:21 If this were not there, my walk as a Christian would be would be dry and difficult and boring and just challenging. But as that oil which God provides us by His Spirit flows in our hearts as we look at His face, He gives us the grace and the 8:38 strength to proceed even in the challenges of life. I want to walk with the Lord in humility day by day. It says there, that is what God is looking for. He's not primarily looking for your sacrifices or your works or that you 8:56 come to church or you do this and do that. Oh, you're an elder and all of these sort of things. That is very secondary to him. He's looking for a heart. A heart that walks with him in humility. A heart where he can speak into and 9:12 instruct and guide. That is what God is looking for. Memorize that verse. I I did that years ago. What does God look for in me? That I would do justly, show mercy to others, very importantly, that I walk with him. That is what he requires. That is what 9:30 he's looking for. Remember that. Walk in humbly with God the Father through Jesus Christ our Lord. Now, I want to speak of like I said, give some examples of people like that in the scripture from the old and I'll look look at one person especially in 9:46 the New Testament. Someone who I believe lived such a life while even Jesus was on earth. I'll look at that before I close this morning. But, if you think of someone who walked in God and that with God in the Old Testament, who comes to mind first of 10:01 all? Anyone? Aha, Enoch. Yeah, not much written about Enoch. But, this man has a fascination for me, honestly. Not a lot written about him. But, I can smell a life of total 10:18 devotion to God even in back in those in those olden times. And the question I ask myself is how was Enoch able to walk so closely with God like this? When there was no Bible, he didn't have a church like you and I have, no law, no 10:35 covenant, nothing. All he wanted, all he had was God. I thought on this man's life over the years. Very fantastic life. It's so great what the was the life of this man that Hebrews 11 records that the testimony of his life, when it was all 10:51 said and done, was that he pleased God. I don't I can't think of any testimony greater than that. Not from the lips of human beings, but from God himself. The Holy Spirit when a man's life ends writes in his file, when it's all said 11:09 and done, such and such pleased God. There's no greater testimony than that. Enoch was able to attain that. He did so because he walked with God. Whatever God wanted, whatever God instructed, that was what Enoch did. And Hebrews 11 11:27 says that that testimony was made of him while he was yet alive. So, not when he got to heaven and says in Hebrews 11 verse Let me read from verse 5. By faith, Enoch was translated that he should not see death. And he was not found anymore because God 11:47 translated him. For before he was taken away, he had this testimony. In other words, that touched me. Before he was he was taken away by God, while still on earth, he had this testimony that he pleased God. That really touched me because 12:06 while this man was on earth, God already signed the conclusion of his life. Not before he Not after he had gotten to heaven or stood before the Lord face to face. While he was still on earth, he pleased God. How did this man do 12:20 that? How was Enoch again, the seventh from Adam? It says seven generations from Adam. And you know what's amazing also? Enoch lived with God while Adam was alive. You see that? If you do the math in Genesis 5, Adam who had fallen, 12:38 he was somewhere else. I'm not sure where, but Enoch, somewhere else, alive, a descendant of Adam, still found a way to know God and walk with him. How did he do that? I've asked the Lord. And this is the answer the Lord told me. 12:54 You know, Jesus said in Mark towards the end of Mark 4, you when he explained the parables of the four soils or the different soils in Mark 4. Towards the conclusion of that of that summary in Mark chapter 4, Jesus says to 13:06 take heed how we hear. To the one who has, more will be given. And the one who does not have the little that he thinks he has will be taken away. This is what the Lord says there. To the one who hears God's voice, as 13:24 faint or as little as it is, and desires to obey and to do what he or she hears God's give more revelation of himself. And to anyone else who does nothing with what God has told him what did the little that he has will be 13:41 taken away. Mark chapter 4 verse 24 and 25 that the Lord says to me is how Enoch because the revelation you and I have today is infinitely much higher I should say than what Enoch had. A lot higher. We have Jesus who has died 13:59 and gone and has come with a spirit to dwell in our hearts. This man in those Old Testament days did not have all that. But yet this man with the little that he knew of God desired to walk with him. And God gave him such fantastic 14:17 revelations. Mark 20 Mark chapter 4 verse 25, for he that has more will be given to him. The one that obeys my voice more will be given to him. The one that has not that does nothing with the revelation he or she has 14:35 even the little they has he or she has will be taken away. That was how Enoch Enoch lived in obedience to God. And as he walked with God, God began him to show him more and more about himself. So great was the revelation that God 14:52 gave Enoch that Jude records that Enoch saw Jesus, the coming of Jesus. That blew my mind. That Jesus was even revealed all the way back to the beginning to this man. God showed him such fantastic things because he walked with him. 15:11 He wanted to know the mind of God. You see that in Jude. The Bible says Enoch foretold the coming of Jesus with his saints to cast judgments on those who had spoken evil of him. How did this guy know that? He wanted to know God and God showed him 15:29 great and marvelous things. You know, I always use Enoch as the example when I meet people, maybe people from my country from Africa for example, who tell me "You're a Christian because you grew up in a Christian home or you because 15:42 you're in America so I'm in a Christian nation and all that. What about our forefathers in the in the jungles of Africa? How would they be If you tell me Jesus is the only way, how would they be saved? They never heard of Jesus." They 15:54 tell me, "How would your forefathers way back then be saved?" I don't argue. I use Enoch as my example. Forget my forefathers. Let's go back to the beginning. You tell me how this man, Enoch, who goes way back beyond my forefathers, 16:09 how did he know Jesus? I know I don't even say God. I say, "How did he know Jesus?" Because God gave him that revelation of Christ. There'll be no excuses on the day when we stand before God. There will be part of people in the in those jungles of 16:23 Africa or the Red Indians thousands of hundreds of years in America who will be saved through faith in Jesus Christ. You're going to see that on the day of judgment. Why? Because the little God revealed to them in nature 16:37 or just by His voice, they responded and God gave more revelation of salvation through His Son. I know we know my wife and I know a lady from Saudi Arabia. You know, it's impo almost impossible to to proselytize in in a place like that. But we personally 16:55 know a woman who was so depressed and frustrated with Islam and just had a dream. God spoke to her Christ came to her in a dream. And that was how she got converted. We know her today still walking with the Lord today. God will reveal Himself to those who are 17:12 hungry and thirsty. Salvation is through Jesus Christ and Christ alone all the way from Adam down to this very minute. There's no other name under heaven by which a man might be saved but by the name of Jesus. Enoch knew that. 17:28 Enoch saw it. And people from from Cain from Abel on the way down here, everywhere in the world, those who call upon the name of the Lord, it says in Romans, they shall be saved. So, Enoch is a fantastic example of me. I I ponder his 17:44 life many times. It's amazing that how a person could be walk so closely with God day by day, and God saved him. And another lesson I learned from the life of Enoch, you know, the Bible says Enoch lived for 365 years. You see that in in Genesis 5. 18:02 So, he walked I say to myself he walked every year with God, and at 365 years he died I mean he got took him away. Well, I'm not going to live for 365 years, but I'm going to live 365 days. What about me walking every day 18:18 for 365 days of this year? Next year another 365 days in a way like Enoch, every day knowing the Lord Jesus more, wanting to walk with him. God will show me more about himself, his requirements for my life. 18:36 He'll do the same for you also. 365 days, remember that of Enoch. Remember that of yourself. You can walk with God every day while you're on earth. So, Enoch was a fantastic example. It says that in Genesis 5 uh 24 that he walked with God. Another 18:52 person that just after that chapter, uh Noah. In Genesis chapter 6, it says of Noah in Genesis 6, verse 9. This was another man who walked with God. And I I there's a lot more written about 19:10 Noah in the Old Testament as well as the new. This is my personal reason belief as to why God allowed us to hear read more about another guy like Noah who walked with God. Unlike Enoch, we don't know a lot about his life, but a lot is written about 19:25 Enoch but Noah. And Noah, as we know, made some mistakes, right? He was not perfect all the way. But God allowed us to see that in this man in spite of his flaws, his fallibility, that he still walked with God. That's the lesson I One of the lessons I 19:41 get from the life of Enoch versus sorry of Noah versus Enoch. Enoch, we never hear of any mistakes he made even though we made me he we know in fact it says before before he had Methuselah, I don't think he walked with God. But But in with Noah, we know 19:56 clearly he made he he committed some sins. He was not perfect. But the point still remains even in his flaws, his heart was for God. So great was Noah's desire to obey God. This is in Hebrews 11. That by his life Noah condemned the world by his 20:15 obedience to God in building that ark. He condemned the world. That's quite a verse. That this guy's life Second Peter 2 says he was a preacher of right righteousness. So he preached, we know that. But by his life of obedience to God, 20:31 he condemned the world. In other words, people that observing the life of this man Noah's obedience doing that which seemed crazy in obedience to God, their hearts were condemned. They knew there was something. They chose not to 20:46 follow him. But they would never stand before God and say, "We did not know you, God, because we saw you in this man Noah. We We rejected it. But by his life, he brought condemnation. Jesus said to the Jews once I I think in John chapter 12, "Don't 21:03 think I'll condemn you on the day of judgment. It's not I will will you, it's the words. These words that I've been that you've been hearing is what will stand before you. In another place he told them, "This Moses, John chapter 5, the Moses 21:17 that you all speak of, that you think you have confidence in, that Moses on the day of judgment will stand before you." My point being this, Enoch lived such a life that no one could deny that he knew God. What about you and me? 21:32 He was not ashamed to stand for the Lord in spite of everyone mocking him or thinking he was crazy. He stood for the Lord Jesus. The Bible says that he he lived such a life that he condemned the world. So, these are two quick examples I 21:50 wanted to mention. The point remains our thirst must be to know God. There's another verse in Hosea 5 where God says, Hosea 6:6, where the Lord says, "I don't want sacrifices of burnt offerings. I would rather have mercy and the knowledge of 22:06 God," he says in that verse. That's what God is looking for, that we would know him. And how do we know him? It's by walking, submitting to him. I want to assure you honestly that if you live such a life that rest that we talk about a lot more 22:23 here, you won't strive for it. God will simply just deposit it in your heart. There's still chaos all around you, but you know you know God you know God indeed and so fear departs. It's not something you do. It's God puts it there. 22:40 "This man seeks my face. I'll reveal my face to him more and more." That brings peace, peace in the heart. And that way to know the Father clearly is through the Lord Jesus Christ. To know God in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to encourage you, 22:58 make this the goal of your lives. It is my goal, honestly. It's not anything that I do primarily. It's that I may know Jesus Christ yet more and more. And not just knowing him in a theoretical sense, knowing knowing him in reality. 23:14 That when I'm afraid, when I'm tempted to be when I'm confused or something, God actually brings reassurance in my heart. It speaks to me, "Don't be afraid. I'm with you. This is what you should do." Uh this is what I would have you 23:32 uh say and so forth. The spirit of God does that in a man's heart. I want that for you and I yet more and more. The question then also is why is it that like I said before, many of God's children don't experience this life. 23:48 Many of us are content just to believe in Christ and suppose that when I get to heaven, I'm going to be perfect and all of that. But while I'm on while I'm here on Earth, how then should I live? Why is it that many of us don't experience more and 24:04 more increasing measure of this? More and more of the knowledge of the Lord Jesus, of God in Christ. Uh there's a verse in A well-known verse in Amos chapter 3 verse 3. If you want to see that very quickly, it's a very known well-known verse. 24:19 How can two walk together except there is an agreement between them? Amos chapter 3 verse 3. There's got to be an agreement between the the two parties. How can two walk together except there's an agreement between them? What I'm trying to say is 24:37 a lot of times we don't experience this because our focus our hearts are in other places. Our worldly mindset will never fellowship with cannot fellowship or have intimacy with God. It's just It's just never going to happen. 24:53 It's not going to happen. The two have to be aligned. In that Hosea in that Hosea Micah 6 that we read, it says to walk humbly. Walk humbly with God. That's the first thing I want to mention. God is a humble God. Jesus Christ is a 25:10 humble savior savior. A man or woman who walks in pride, where can the fellowship come? That verse is to walk humbly. Humbly with him. The on Wednesday we had our Bible family meeting on this matter of the humility of Jesus Christ. That really touched me 25:28 because I mean we know this, we've heard it, I've heard it, but it's so deep. This matter of humility is a deep deep thing that except the spirit of God should come in my heart. You might think you're humble, but you're not there. You you're not 25:44 there. Jesus says in Matthew 11 that we should learn from him. He said there that I'm meek and gentle of heart. In other words, humility begins in the heart, not just even what I do. That's the deception we think as someone acts 26:00 one way or the other, then they must be humble. But Jesus says my humility is from the heart. Learn that from me. So, if I if I will walk with God, I must be growing in humility as well. That verse again says to walk humbly 26:18 with him. You know, during the meeting as we for that meeting on Wednesday also we heard that when Jesus was on earth, he never tried to prove to anyone that he was God become in fact he never talked about tried to show everyone how great a 26:35 sacrifice he he had to endure to become a man. He just lived and what people thought, let them think. He just lived before the Father and never tried to show you and me how humble he was. You can think whatever you want. He just 26:53 walked in obedience to the Father. He didn't try to prove anything to anybody. That really spoke to me. That is humility. You know, sometimes we may do things and we want others to know. Even things, service, whatever, even an 27:07 act of kindness or you so called humility, but there's somewhere in the heart in our hearts that wishes, I wish they would know I did this. That is pride. Jesus was never that way. It takes maturity to come to a place like that where it 27:23 doesn't matter. That's why Jesus says you must learn humility from me, or else you will have a false concept of humility. So, to walk with him requires that. God is a humble God. I'll save you is a savior home is a humble savior. 27:43 A man with pride can never have fellowship with him. Another reason why I I thought this this this lack of fellowship. The Bible says of God that God is light. God is light he says in the first John 1:5. There's no darkness in him. 28:01 He says in the following verses there that if we say we have fellowship with God and walk in darkness, we are only deceiving ourselves. God is pure. God is holy. If I will have any meaningful fellowship with him, I must be thirsting for this purity. 28:20 Also, Ephesians 5 says to walk as children of light. We've been redeemed out of darkness it says there in Ephesians 5. We were once darkness, but now we are light in Christ. Walk as children of light as children of light. 28:36 Very important brothers and sisters that our lives be clear at all times. Clear. Clear of sin. Wherein we want to keep our garments clean all the time. Whenever we falling short, God have mercy, forgive me. 28:55 Cleanse yourself and get back on path on the path of of light and righteousness. God is light in him is no darkness at all. In 2 Corinthians chapter 6, Paul says also, uh where is the fellowship between Christ and Belial? 29:10 The temple of God and the temple of idols. Light and darkness he says there, 2 Corinthians 6. There's no fellowship there. And so, if we want to experience this type of intimacy like I'm describing, make sure make sure that your garment, your heart is 29:29 cleansed all the time. Or else there can be no fellowship between the two. Habakkuk says, God is of purer eyes than to behold sin. It's just won't happen. God will not look at a man who's living in sin. So, we must walk in the light 29:49 just as he is in the light as well. So, in in wrapping up here, I wanted to mention one more person who has been such a uh such an example of what I'm describing here. And it's a person you all know very well. I want to speak very briefly on 30:05 the life of Mary, the sister of Lazarus, the sister of Martha. We know Mary very well. Every time she almost almost always when we think of her, we think of her in the story in Luke chapter 10 where she sat at the feet of Jesus. Everyone knows that story 30:19 very well. She sat to listen to Jesus while Martha served. That is true. But there are other events in the Bible, at least two other encounters between Jesus and and Mary that tells me something about her. I've been able to 30:35 perceive an aroma of of love for the Lord for Jesus Christ uh through the life of this woman. I want to speak very briefly of her. Few things that I see in the life of Mary. One lesson that I learned from her is that, uh, we've heard many times that 30:51 God is not a respecter of persons. This was a woman, I don't know how, maybe a rich or poor, I don't know, but back then we know how women were treated. But this was a woman who desired Christ. And Jesus Christ showed her some marvelous things. I'll 31:07 I'll talk I'll I'll talk on that in a few minutes here. God is not a respecter of persons. Man, woman, even a child, doesn't matter. Elder, no elder, big ministry, all that is meaningless before God. If you draw near to him, the Bible says he'll draw 31:25 near to you. That's a rule. In fact, that verse is in James 4:8. When I've read it, I always think it's backward. It should be God, you draw near to me, then I'll draw near to you, but no. You know how, uh, Jacob, when he was blessing the sons 31:41 of, uh, Joseph, he crossed his hands, and Joseph tried to correct it and say, "No, don't put your hand on Manasseh, the older. Put your right hand on the older, not the younger." Jacob says, "No, I know what I'm doing." 31:53 Whenever I've read that verse in James 4:8, I felt like that. Like, God, you have it backward. You should say, "Draw near You draw near to me." But no, the Lord says, "Draw near to God." James 4:8, "And he'll draw near to you." 32:06 In other words, there has to be a desire, passion for you to to seek me. If you have that, I also will draw near to you. Mary was a woman who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, it says that Jesus loved them in John 11. He loved 32:23 Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. But Mary also, we don't know much about the life of Lazarus, but Mary loved Jesus in a special way. And God showed her several things which I'll touch on in a minute here. That's the first lesson I see there. 32:37 God doesn't care. If you love if you draw near to me, I'll draw near to you, which is what Mary experienced. Another thing that I see in the life of this Mary, there are about three encounters. One was at that meal in uh in uh Martha's 32:52 house in Luke 10, and the other two another meal in uh Simon the leper's house. Uh um and then and then when Lazarus, her brother, died. In all three encounters, Mary was found the Bible records at the feet of Jesus. 33:11 In all three, you look it up. Luke 10, she was at the feet of Jesus anointing him. John 11, when she came and met Jesus, the Bible says she fell at his feet and spoke to him. And then in in John 12, and which is the same event in Mark 14, 33:29 the Bible says she was at the feet of Jesus. Always at the feet of Christ. That tells me something. This woman simply wanted to adore and worship her God at her feet. And I conclude something through her life. And this is that conclusion for me. It's 33:48 at the feet of Christ that I see his face more and more. It's at the feet of the Lord Jesus that his face is revealed to me. Uh Psalm 99 verse 5 says to exalt the Lord and worship at his footstool because God is holy. 34:08 This woman was fantastic, I'm telling you. She loved Jesus, and every time she was recorded in the Bible, you find her at the feet of Jesus. It's at the feet of Christ that you will learn more about his face. 34:24 I learned that from Mary, also. And then also, I mean I maybe I I be showing you all these verses, but I trust you'll go back and look at you look at them. Very important. Let me show you Let me You are Luke 10, we know 34:37 very well she was oiling She was anointing the feet of Christ. The second one in John, maybe I should just touch on them. I didn't want to take too much time. In John 11, in John 11, when Jesus uh when Martha had told Mary the master is 34:53 calling for you. The Bible says in John 11, verse verse 32, that Martha went Mary went out to the to the Lord Jesus, and she fell down at his 35:12 feet. You see that there. Anyways, look it Look up what I'm saying here. Every time she was at the feet of Christ. And then thirdly, there's a there's an assurance which I mentioned before that such a person experiences. 35:26 I see that in the life of Mary, especially versus Martha. Both of them had lost their brother. But if you read the story in John 11, you can see uh a frantic state in Mary more than in Martha more than Mary. Mary was so concerned, she ran out to 35:44 look for Jesus. But if you see in John 11:20, it says, "Martha, as soon as she heard Jesus was coming, ran out to meet him." But what was Mary doing in John 11:20? She stood still in the house. There's an assurance there. 36:01 Jesus can do all things. He can help me here. I'm sad. My brother That's my brother, but I don't need to be frantic as though I had no hope. Jesus is able to help me. She sat still. Be still and know that I'm God, it says 36:15 in Psalm 46. She sat still in the house. That tells me something again. Such a man or woman who's walking with Jesus, there's no need to be afraid or frantic uh in life's circumstances, there's a rest there. Mary had this. I see that more in Mary 36:33 than even Martha. She was still. And uh she was still. And even there, it says Mary Mary who was a frantic one, she came to uh uh she came to Martha who was a frantic one. 36:52 She came to Mary later on and says, "The mas- the master's calling for you." And if you read that closely, Jesus it says here, um uh John 11 verse 28 on. It says, 37:12 "Martha left Jesus and came called for her sister secretly." Saying John 11:28, "The mas- master's coming and he's calling for you." Here was this Mary sad, but still still. The frantic one, Martha, goes to disturb her and 37:28 says, "The master's calling for you." And so Mary gets up and goes out to look for Jesus also. Verse 30 says, verse 30 says, "Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but he was still in the place where he met Martha." In other 37:43 words, Martha tells Mary, "Jesus is coming. He's coming and he's calling for you." But the Bible says Jesus was still where he was before. I don't know if you catch that. This woman was went and told her sister who was resting, still sad that she lost 37:59 her brother, "Come come come come meet Jesus is coming and calling for you." But the Bible says Jesus had not moved. You see that in the life of one who knows God and the other who just wants to activity event, but the other one is 38:12 still. Martha tried to disturb the peace of the rest of Mary in here. I don't know if you're seeing this thing. This is the Lord what the Lord teaches me about this woman. She was at rest. So great was her intimacy with the Lord 38:27 that in spite of her loss and all that, she had a confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. So, um and lastly I would say the revelation Jesus gave Martha Mary. You remember the story in Mark 14 when the disciples were were upset that she 38:46 was wasting that oil at the feet of Jesus and it anointed him. Jesus says, "She's doing this in preparation for my burial." That touched me because even the disciples did not understand this idea of Jesus dying, rising. They 39:04 were still confused all the way to the end. Jesus had told them multiple times, "I'm going to die and on the third day I will rise again." They didn't understand. But Mary not only understood it, she did something about it. She was preparing 39:20 for the burial of Christ and ultimately his resurrection as well. So, I learned this again that walking with the Lord he shows us things, things about themselves, things written in the scriptures. For example, we know that Jesus Christ 39:36 is coming back again. That's not a mystery to you and I. But how are we preparing like Mary prepared for the burial of Christ then? How are we preparing for the return of the Lord Jesus? Anyways, I just want to point these few things to 39:51 you brothers and sisters. The ultimate goal is to walk with the Lord. You'll find rest in your spirit, revelation in your heart, revelation about the words of Christ, about God himself, and grace to do something about it. 40:06 This to me again is the essence of my walk in my life as a believer, to know the Lord Jesus yet more and more. I want to encourage each one of us to have that mindset. To know Jesus, it takes a desire like Mary to spend time with him. To be with 40:21 him every day. When I When we think of spend time, we always think of just reading the Bible in the morning or at night. And I'm talking about all through the day. As you're doing your work, as you're driving, there's that voice here and there that 40:33 speaks to you. Voice of rebuke, voice of correction, voice of love, voice of assurance from the spirit of Christ still speaking to you in your heart that the connection with the Father might not be broken. I hope you understand what I'm saying 40:49 here. It is possible that we also can walk this way like Enoch, like Noah, very importantly like Mary, the simple woman who just loved Jesus. That's all. I just want to walk with Jesus. I want to know him. Jesus showed her some fantastic things 41:06 that others, even the disciples, did not know. She got it. That tells me God can do these things. God is not a respecter of persons. Let us have this heart, a heart of walking with the Lord to know him, to love him. It's clear that God loves 41:21 us. The question is, what about my love for him? May God help us.
