All around the world, 0:55 something's going on about Jesus' love. It's amazing. He loves us all so much with a love so strong. No one else will love us more. It's amazing. We all are a little different in many 1:17 different ways. No matter where we come from, God loves us the same. None of us is perfect, so he forgives our sins. Jesus is our savior. God's love never ends. All around the world, something's going on 1:37 about Jesus' love. It's amazing. He loves us all so much with a love so strong. No one else will love us more. It's amazing. We all are a little different in many different ways. No 1:56 matter where we come from, He loves us the same. None of us is perfect, so He forgives our sins. Jesus is our savior, His love will never end. All around the world, something's going on 2:14 about Jesus' love, it's amazing. He loves us all so much, with a love so strong, no one else could love us more, it's amazing. Jesus' love is one of a kind. He loves 2:33 us so much, we're always on His mind. Jesus' love is one of a kind. He loves us so much, we're always on His mind. Jesus' love is one of a kind. He loves 2:52 us so much, we're always on His mind. Jesus' love is one of a kind. He loves us so much, we're always on His mind. All around the world, something's going on about Jesus' love, 3:11 it's amazing. He loves us all so much, with a love so strong, no one else could love us more, it's amazing. love us more, it's amazing. No one else could love us more, it's 3:30 amazing. Out in the world, when 3:50 they inaugurate a new building. They cut ribbons. We do it differently. We get our children to sing about Jesus' love. That's how we inaugurate a new place. Because 4:09 the ones who are standing here are among the purest of all the people in this conference. There are a few who are purer than them, and those are the newborn babies. But uh if you leave out the newborn babies, the next to them, the purest are 4:28 these. These children are different from us. They've never seen internet pornography. They've never done the dirty things that a lot of grown-up people have done. And it's most appropriate that they stand up first. Not great preachers. 4:46 You know, that God looks for pure hearts more than greater preachers. Good more than for great preachers and cleverness and all that. God has revealed his truths not to the wise and the intelligent, but to little babes. 5:00 If we could have got the little babies to sing that, we would have got them, but it's a little difficult. So, this is the next best. But it's very important for us, you know, right from the beginning when we started CFC, we've celebrating our 40th 5:14 year now. One of the things we have stressed from the beginning is we value little children. We don't value great preachers as much as we value little children, because Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me. If you get converted and become like a 5:32 little child, you can enter the kingdom of heaven." We have emphasized the new covenant in CFC, and the new covenant is the kingdom of heaven. And we must always bear in mind that the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is a little child. 5:49 And that's why we began with that. That is the best part of the conference. And if you have heard and got the message from that, you really got something very important right at the outset. And if you sit through these four days 6:02 with that spirit, see, those children haven't come here to criticize anything or to judge anything. They're They're so happy. And what they sang today all around the world, there's a message going today. And we are preaching it, too. The 6:17 amazing love of Jesus Christ, which the world doesn't know about, which many Christians don't know about. If they did know about it, they wouldn't fight with each other. If they did know about it, they wouldn't be watching 6:28 dirty things on their computer. If they did know about it, they would overcome their anger at home. If they did know about it, they wouldn't love some money so much. They would live for God. And so, we come together to celebrate what God has done in these 6:44 40 years. Many of you do not know how this work started. So, I want to share something with you all of what God has done. There is a verse that you would have seen right at as you enter this hall. And I want to turn to that first of all 7:03 in Deuteronomy chapter 8. Deuteronomy chapter 8. It's a very appropriate word. Verse two. Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 7:22 two. And this is the word we are trying to listen to today. You shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you these 40 years. The world is a spiritual wilderness. 7:40 It'll always be until Christ again. Anything outside the kingdom of heaven is a wilderness, but in the midst of that wilderness there is a little pocket of the kingdom of heaven called the church. And the Lord has led us these 40 years. 7:58 And shall I tell you the primary things he has taught us in these 40 years? We'll come to how it began, but let me tell you what he taught us. First of all, see it there, humility. 8:14 He taught us to humble ourselves. And all those who have come in touch with us, if they have not learned that, whatever else they have learned is an absolute waste of time. And when we talk about elders in our 8:36 midst, who are the elders? I'll tell you. Not necessarily sometimes those who think they are elders or appointed as elders. There may be some without the title of elders who are elders. It's those who have learned to humble 8:55 themselves the most. The real elder brother in your church is the one who has learned to humble himself the most. Who's quick to go down. Quick to take the low place. Quick to go and clean the toilet if he 9:14 finds it dirty. Quick to speak to a little child if the little child wants to talk to him. Quick to take the low place. Quick to hide the sacrifices he makes. Quick to give all the glory to God. 9:34 Quick to humble himself. to be esteemed as nothing. Like the amplified Bible says in Matthew 5:3, "Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are those who rate themselves as insignificant." That is what we have taught in this 9:53 church for 40 years. To rate yourself as insignificant in God's kingdom so that Christ might have the preeminence. Not all elder brothers have understood that. I hope they're learning. 10:12 There's still time. But it's very important. The effectiveness of your church for Christ depends on how much you have learned this lesson. The one who prepared the way for Jesus' first coming was John the Baptist. He came in the 10:32 spirit of Elijah. And the word of God says that before the second coming of Christ, the spirit of Elijah will again come forth, this time not in one person, but in the church. The church today, listen to me, is the equivalent 10:52 of John the Baptist. When it says in Malachi 4 that I will send Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, which is the second coming of Christ. At the first coming of Christ, they the Jews thought that was the fulfillment of 11:08 that, but you know what Jesus told them? If Matthew 11, he said, "If you accept him, then he is Elijah." But the Jews did not accept him. So, Malachi 4:5 and 6 is to be fulfilled again in the last days, in our day. 11:26 Elijah is going to come forth. In the Old Testament, it was all always one man ending up with John the Baptist. But today, it is a body. Elijah is a body of people, no one man. Many people haven't understood that. 11:44 That's why you have had in Christian history different people thinking, "I am Elijah whom God has sent." Absolute nonsense. Elijah is the body of Christ in the last days, where no one man gets the preeminence. There may be different 11:59 gifts. There are apostles, there are prophets, but no one man is Elijah. It's the body of Christ. And what is the message with which John the Baptist came? Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near. And that is what the last days 12:13 church of Christ is going to proclaim. Repentance, repentance, turning from sin. Turn from sin. Turn from sin. That was the only message he preached, and that is the only message the true Elijah will preach in the last days. 12:25 And that is hardly being preached in the world today. People are looking for comfort, money, health, and all that, but not turning from sin. If you want to be a part of that spirit of Elijah in the last days, brothers, sisters, children, 12:39 teach, share with others the message of turning from sin. Teach your children to turn from sin from the earliest time in their life. Be a witness in your home and everywhere by your life to turn from sin. That's what John the Baptist preached, because the 12:55 coming of the Lord is near. And secondly, there's a very important message John the Baptist said, "He must increase, and I must decrease." And dear brothers and sisters, senior brothers and sisters, 13:13 if you are decreasing in the eyes of others, then Christ will increase in your church. The tragedy in Christendom is there are gifted preachers who are increasing and increasing and increasing and making more and more money and 13:32 making themselves big in the eyes of others instead of going down and disappearing so that other people may come up. And that that that's not the spirit of Elijah. Which is being manifested. But in the midst of this corrupt Christendom, and I 13:48 don't hesitate to say Christendom is in a Babylonian condition. And what is needed is the message of Jeremiah who stood like a prophet for 40 years. He preached and preached and preached and preached to try and save Israel from 14:03 going to Babylon, but he didn't succeed. But that's our calling, too. To stand up against the spirit of Babylon. And if you want to stand against it, it's not just in language, it's not by quoting scriptures. It's by having the 14:17 spirit of John the Baptist, which says, "I must decrease." You can have the most effective, apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, any ministry you like, whatever ministry you have, you must decrease if you want Christ to increase. 14:36 So, that is the first thing, Deuteronomy 8:2. He led you that he might humble you. And if you have gone down in your own eyes and in the Lord's eyes, if the Lord can certify that you have gone down in these 40 years, or however number of 14:56 years you've been in the church, then you have understood the message. Otherwise, you've just got a lot of empty theology, which will just make you a better Pharisee. He led you to humble you and tested you. That's another thing 15:13 that we have taught, Deuteronomy 8:2, all these years, that God tests His people. The Lord the Jeremiah says, "Oh Lord, one of the titles of the Lord he gave us, you who test the righteous." Do you know that God tests the 15:32 righteous? You read that in the book of Jeremiah. He tests the righteous. He doesn't test the wicked. He tells the wicked to turn from their sin. But once they have turned from their sin and become righteous, he tests the 15:43 righteous. Do you know when God tested Abraham? When he was 75 years old and he was in the land of his parents, the Lord tested him saying, "Will you leave that and follow me to a land which I won't tell you where it is, but 15:59 you just follow me." And he obeyed. When the Lord called us 40 years ago, we did not know where we were going. But we said, "Lord, we're going to stand against Babylon." That's all we knew. And we were very few. Years later, 50 years later, 16:18 God again tested Abraham. And you read in Genesis 22, saying, "Give up your son. He's becoming an idol in your life." So, does God test a man who has obeyed him for 50 years? Yes, he does. 16:35 He tests the righteous. And very often I want to tell you, we don't know when we are being tested. Sometimes, the test is over before we realize it. God doesn't announce, "Tomorrow morning 16:54 is the final examination." No, no, no, no. It's not like these earthly schools and colleges. What he'll tell you was, "By the way, we tested you this morning. You didn't realize it, but you failed." That was a test, what you went through 17:11 yesterday. That is how God's tests are. He does not announce it. He tested you for 40 years. And the purpose of that testing is also mentioned here in Deuteronomy 8:2. 17:29 To know what was in your heart. Do you know that God It's not that God doesn't know what is in your heart. He knows what's in your heart before you before even you know it. But he wants you to know what is in your heart. 17:44 I am so thankful that in 40 years God has shown me the corruption of my flesh. Somebody asked me once, more than once, "Brother Zac, what is the mark by which you recognize that God is 18:02 blessing you?" I said, "For me, primarily it is this, that every day and I say every day, I mean every day, he gives me light 18:20 on some un-Christ-likeness in my life that I can claim judge myself and cleanse myself and get rid of and fulfill that command in 2 Corinthians 7:1. 18:39 2 Corinthians 7:1, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit and perfect perfect holiness in the fear of God. The fear of God is not an Old Testament message. 18:57 It began in the Old Testament. But 2 Corinthians 7:1 says we perfect holiness in the fear of God. And that is by cleansing ourselves. There is a cleansing that God does. That is when I committed something wrong and I ask the Lord to forgive me. 19:16 But when I've done that wrong thing and I ask the Lord to forgive me, then I must cleanse myself from that within me which made me do that wrong thing so that I don't do it again. That is cleansing myself. Supposing I discover that it was my 19:32 pride that made me reply to somebody in a certain way I've committed that sin. I ask the Lord to forgive me. But then I must judge myself and cleanse myself of that attitude so that it doesn't happen again. Otherwise, I'll keep on living like that 19:50 like the rest of Christendom. Babylonian Christendom is like that. They keep on doing the same thing. How do we know God is not blessing them? Because they're not getting light on that un-Christ-likeness every day. You see them 10 years later, they still get 20:04 angry, they still lust after women, and they still watch internet pornography. They're not getting light on anything. They may be getting increment in their jobs, promotion in their jobs like every other non-Christian and atheist gets 20:18 promotion in their jobs. That's not the mark of God's blessing. This is the foolishness of Christians who think that if I'm prospering, God is blessing me. Do you know that every religion in the world teaches that, not just Christianity? 20:35 Every non-Christian religion which worships different gods, they say their god has made them prosperous. They even say their god has healed them and they go to some temple for some pilgrimage. It's not just Christians. But there's one thing that none of those 20:50 gods can do. They cannot make them Christ-like. That is the blessing of the unique blessing of Christianity. He tests you to see what is in your heart to show you what is in your heart. Now, I want to tell you this in these 40 21:08 years that God has led us. He has shown us numerous things in our own heart. We know in the olden days we used to spend time seeing what is in other people's heart. We can't even see it but we imagine we see things in people's heart. 21:24 That is the foolishness of unbelievers and the foolishness of Babylonian Christians. But once we go find this new way of discovering what is in our heart. You know what is the result has been? It has brought a glorious fellowship 21:36 between us. You know in a simple thing like the construction of this building and all that went on here in the last 1 and 1/2 years. I tell you all those who were actively involved in it actively involved in it. I tell you all 21:57 of us got a lot of light on ourselves. And we could cleanse ourselves. I wasn't physically involved in it as much as many others. My involvement because I was traveling 22:16 so much was mostly by email. But even by email I could get light on myself. It's amazing. You don't have to be physically present in correspondence with people and in replies that you give and they write to you, you get light on yourself. 22:30 I say I've become a better man at the end of this construction. I'll tell you honestly. And I think all those who were actively involved in this construction will say if they have judged themselves that they become better Christians. 22:47 It's not just by listening to messages. He led us in 40 years not by listening to messages alone but through various circumstances that we faced in our family the difficulties and sicknesses that we faced in our homes the difficulties you faced and sometimes 23:03 bringing up children. We get light on ourselves and we judge ourselves and we become better people. The Lord your God led you to humble you, to test you, to show you what is in your heart. And to test you whether you would keep 23:19 his commandments or not. Ultimately, it is that. In the secret area in your heart, will you keep his commandments? God created man to keep his commandments, not because God gets some delight in people obeying him. 23:39 He's got millions of angels that are ready to obey him. Why does he want puny man? It is for our good. He's a father. When you tell your children to be careful when they cross the street, is it for your good or their good? 23:57 When you tell your children to eat vegetables or something good, it's for their good. They They may not like it, but it is for their good. When you tell them to do their homework or go to school or to avoid certain habits, it's always for 24:12 their good. The commandments good fathers give to their children is not for the fathers, it's for the good of the children. And that's a great thing to recognize that our heavenly Father has given us commandments for our good. 24:29 It was a proof of his tremendous love that he gave the commandments to Israel. Let me show you a verse in Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy chapter 33. Moses had some light on this. I don't know whether you have seen this 24:49 verse. Deuteronomy 33, verse two. The Lord came from Sinai and dawned from Seir. He shone forth from Mount Paran. He came from the midst of 10,000 holy ones. He's talking about the time when God appeared on Mount Sinai and gave 25:08 them a law. On the margin of my Bible it says it is right hand there was a fiery law that he What it says here is flashing lightning in verse two. In the margin it says a fiery law. That's the real word there. He gave THEM 25:27 A FIERY LAW with 613 commandments. What does this prove? Verse three. Oh, how he loves the people. That's what it proves. Moses understood that. Lord, how you love us 25:46 that you gave us such a fiery law of 613 commandments and you didn't give it to all these other people in the world. How much you must be loving us. And when I read the New Testament commandments, I say, "Lord, how much you must be 25:59 loving me that I must never get angry once in my life. That I must never lust after a woman once in my life. That I must not love money. That I must not be anxious because that's a lack of trust in our Father. That I must not judge others because I 26:17 don't know what is in their heart. How much you love me." Look at it like that. It'll change your whole attitude to obedience. It changed mine. It's made me a supremely happy man inwardly. Don't look for ministry, my brother and 26:37 sister. Don't always look so, "I want to preach to others. Well, bless others." That'll come automatically if you take care of your own life. The life will overflow from within effortlessly. It just flow and flow and flow and flow 26:53 and bless people without number if you take care to humble yourself, allow God to test you humble you. Further, Deuteronomy 8:3 He humbled you. He allowed you to be hungry. God allows us to go through 27:13 difficulties, physical difficulties. He allows us to be sick. He allows us to go through financial difficulties to test us. I don't know whether all of you know that every time you went through a financial difficulty, God was testing 27:33 you to see what was in your heart. Whether you would trust him or trust in men. And most believers fail because they trust in men. Blessed are those who trust in him. When I was a young person, I decided that I would never get into debt. 27:52 By the grace of God, I'm still nearly 75 today. I've never been in debt. Which means I had to be very careful with my finances cut down my expenditure not buy things I cannot afford. These are principles. It's a mark of 28:10 God's love for us. When God allows us to be hungry that means lack of money, lack of health lack of food, lack of uh other luxuries other people may have. 28:30 God's a mark of God's goodness. I tell you. I'm very thankful that I could not give my children everything that all the other rich children in in their school could get. I just tell them, "I'm sorry." I'm not if they if I could afford it if 28:52 I could afford it, I'd give it. I'm sorry, I don't have it. And I don't have any complaint against God about it, either. That was God's way. We accept the Lord. When you learn to be content with what you have and never never compare yourself with 29:06 others, I can say before God, in all those 15 20 years that I used to take my children on my scooter for 3 years for years to school, three children on a scooter, I never envied the people who had a car and could bring children in the car. God 29:25 bless them. Fine. When you are content, I'm not saying there's anything spiritual about traveling on a scooter. Don't misunderstand me. I'm talking about contentment with what God has given you. And not comparing yourself with others. 29:41 That's my point. Don't misunderstand me. Don't think that if you make yourself poor, you'll be spiritual. There are a lot of poor people in India who are not spiritual. I'll tell you that. And there are a lot of rich people who 29:51 are spiritual. But my point is contentment, but I've never seen a spiritual man who's not content, who's always comparing himself with other people, always wishing he had what that person had. Oh, I wish I had that. You go to somebody's house and you say, 30:05 "I wish I had that." I wonder whether you're even born again. That's what I'd say. You're always wishing what somebody else has? That's not Christianity. What has the Holy Spirit done in your life? He allowed you to hunger, it says. 30:25 He let you be hungry, verse three. He let you be financially poor. He let you be sick. Because he didn't love you? No. Because he wanted to teach you something that riches could never teach you. He wanted 30:44 to teach you something that a healthy life could not teach you. He's taught me through sickness. He's taught me through poverty. He's taught me through being taken to court. He's taught taught me through all types of things which I we wouldn't choose 30:56 ourselves. He allowed you to be hungry. And I praise God for the as a church also, the different circumstances we have gone through in these 40 years. Especially in the early days. People called us heretics, 31:15 false teachers. See, a lot of people because of the internet, they know my name and they think I'm very popular. I doesn't bother me one bit because I know how it was in the early days. I mean, people who were with us 38 years 31:31 ago, 39 years ago, they know the names that everybody in India called us. False teachers, heretics. They published tracts against us. There was one tract which said, 31:49 "The head of the serpent." It's a tract. "Is in 16 De Costa Square." That's my house. They distributed it. Praise the Lord. Jesus said, "If they've called the head of the house Beelzebub, prince of devils, how much more 32:08 the members of your family?" They've called us devils. They've called me spiritual terrorist. All types of names. It's been a tremendous privilege to be known as a member of Jesus' family. The head of my family was called 32:26 Beelzebub, prince of devils. What are the names you've been called by? Let Has the Lord allowed you to be robbed of your reputation? Have you accepted it joyfully? That is the way the Lord led us. You know, today people can say, "Boy, 32:45 what a work God has done." But do you know what he took us through? And we accepted it. We said, "That's fine. We're not going to complain about it." And we were greatly encouraged. Not only that Jesus was called a heretic and 33:02 false prophet. It's not just by outsiders. His own One of his closest co-workers finally betrayed him, Judas Iscariot. After being with him for so many years. And we've experienced that, too. People who've been with us for 30 years, 33:19 co-workers, finally leave us and distribute emails against us saying we are a cult. Zac Poonen is a cult leader. These are not outsiders. These are people who have been fed by us, who have learned doctrines from us, whose life has improved through our 33:38 ministry, whose home life has changed, whose children have grown up in our midst, who've been blessed in every way, and finally they bite the hand that has fed them for 30 years. What shall we say? We shall love them. Bless them. 33:57 Bible says, "Bless those who curse you." So, these are the ways in which God allows us to hunger and go through difficulty. Cuz that's the way he gives us a ministry. And these are not just things that have happened 38 years ago. 34:08 These are things that have happened in the last 1 or 2 years. He never stops testing us. He tests us by co-workers turning against us. People betraying us, kissing us, and betraying us, okay? Let them do it. Taking property, 34:30 going off with it. Go ahead. Jesus never fought with Judas Iscariot when he walked off with a lot of money. God's ways are amazing. He humbles us, tests us. And always his purpose is to lead us to 34:49 a greater height. It's not just Jesus. I was greatly encouraged the Apostle Paul also went this way. Paul said, "Follow me as I follow Christ." We'd like to follow Paul in being an apostle, planting churches, healing the sick, and all these type of 35:04 things. But, let me show you another aspect of Paul's life. Acts 24 and we read in verse 14. Acts 24:14. He's standing before a king towards the 35:22 end of his life as a prisoner, falsely accused by the Jews. Jesus was falsely accused by religious people. Paul was falsely accused by religious people. I've been falsely accused by religious people. And if you have been 35:38 falsely accused by religious people, you're going in the right direction. Paul, when he was falsely accused by religious people, said, "I admit Acts 24:14 that according to the way Christianity in those days was called the way, 35:53 the narrow way that led to life. According to the way which they call a sect, or in today's language, a cult. What other people call a cult, I admit that's the way I go. You can call us what you like. 36:12 Imagine they called Paul a cult leader. Were you afraid of that title? The greatest men of God in history have been called by that name. According to that way which they call a cult. And I'll tell you he says he says, "You can call me 36:31 what you like, but here is what I do. And this is what we do also. Number one, I serve God. For him it was the God of our fathers, for us it is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. And secondly, I believe everything written in the word 36:50 of God. For him it was the law and the prophets, for us it is the Bible, 66 books and especially the new covenant. I believe everything written in the Bible, everything written in the new covenant. That if you keep on getting angry, you 37:08 will go to hell. I believe it. That if you keep on lusting after women, you will go to hell. I believe it. That when you're anxious and worried, you're proclaiming to the world that you've got an unreliable father in heaven. I believe it. 37:23 I believe everything written in the scriptures. And I have a hope. Verse 15, that there will definitely be two resurrections. I don't know whether you all believe that. I believe with all my heart there'll be 37:43 two resurrections. One a resurrection of the righteous when Jesus comes and years later a resurrection of the wicked. There are only two categories. The righteous and the wicked and they will not be resurrected at the same 37:57 time. There will be a resurrection of the righteous and a resurrection of the wicked. And because I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous, this is what I do. Paul said this and I say this, verse 16, I keep my conscience clear all the time. 38:16 Always means 24/7. I keep my conscience clear 24/7 before God and before men. He's not saying I never slip up. No. He says when I do slip up, I immediately get up. Just like you know, if you slip and fall, you don't even wait 5 seconds. 38:35 You get up immediately. Paul says if I slip up, I get up immediately and I confess it to God. Lord, I slipped up. Cleanse me. And I immediately apologize. There are very few husbands and wives who apologize to each other immediately. 38:48 Very few. I'm sorry to say even in CFC churches. I'll tell you why. They don't fear God enough. They don't value fellowship with God enough because you don't realize that the moment you have got something wrong in your relationship with somebody, your 39:07 fellowship with God is broken. Whether you feel it or not, it's broken. The lights have gone out. The choir wire is cut. But you can carry on in the darkness. Because you don't value fellowship with God. If you did, you would immediately 39:24 apologize. You would immediately clear your conscience before men because you want to be in the resurrection of the righteous. I say what the Apostle Paul said. I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous and I don't say, "Ah, I 39:36 accepted Jesus 55 years ago. I will definitely be in the resurrection of the righteous." That is not my doctrine. I say what Paul said. I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous, so I keep my conscience clear 24/7 before God 39:48 and before men. And therefore, I have a confidence that I will be in the resurrection of the righteous, which proves that my faith is a genuine faith, which proves that I don't treat the blood of Christ lightly. I don't crucify the Son of God afresh 40:04 by treating sin lightly. Every person who treats sin lightly is treating the blood of Christ like tap water and is crucifying Christ afresh. Paul didn't follow Paul didn't do that. And I don't do that either. Let's turn back to Deuteronomy chapter 40:21 8. You shall remember all the way the Lord led you in these 40 years. And Lord, we never want to forget it. Further, Deuteronomy 20 uh sorry, Deuteronomy chapter 8. He humbled you, let you be hungry. 40:41 And he fed you, Deuteronomy 8:3, with manna. Which you did not know, nor your fathers know. Do you know that every morning the Israelites had to go out into the wilderness and take this bread that came from heaven. 40:57 And if you went out too late, the manna would melt like ice, you know, when ice falls, snow falls. After a while you go, it's all melted, it's gone into the ground. Manna was like that. It was solid good food. It was a special type of food that would 41:15 melt when the sun's heat came up. And then you couldn't get it. If you were too lazy, your family would go hungry. The day and if that happened to you one day, you'd never do it again. You'd get up early and go and get your manna. 41:30 And they got it. And if they knew it came from heaven. Isn't that wonderful? And I'll tell you something else. God never changed the taste of that manna in 40 years. Imagine, you parents, if you had children, you gave them the same 41:50 exactly the same quantity and taste of food every single day, breakfast, lunch, dinner. Rice and curry, rice and curry, rice and same curry. No change, rice and curry, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or whatever your food is in your part of the world. Tomorrow 42:07 morning, the same thing. You know what the children will say? What is this, Mommy? That's what the Israelites said. What is this? And the word in Hebrew was manna. Oh, okay, we'll call it manna. That's how the name manna came, by the 42:23 way. You read in the book of Exodus. They say, "What is this? Same thing every day." He gave them the same Do you think God could have changed the variety? Taste a little bit every day, different taste every day, different size, 42:36 different color, just for a variety, you know, he who made the flowers is also different. Don't you think he could have changed the taste and shape of the manna, but he had to teach them something. And that's what he tries to teach us, 42:49 contentment with whatever God has given. Teach your children to be content. Very important, brothers. I'm not saying you should become poor or sell everything and become poor. I say, teach your children contentment. You may live in a big house, you may 43:08 have four cars, whatever it is, but teach your children to be content. It's the greatest lesson that Christians need to learn. Never comparing ourselves with others and saying, "I wish I had that." I don't wish I had anything other than 43:24 what God has given me. That's sanctification. Sanctification is not just keeping free from these external sins. Godliness with contentment is great gain. What about godliness? 1 Timothy 6:4-6. What about godliness without 43:41 contentment? There is no such thing as godliness without contentment. It doesn't exist. There is no such thing. Godliness is always with contentment. It's like if you 44:00 take the coffee powder out of the hot water, it's just water hot water, it's not coffee anymore. You take contentment out of godliness, it's not godliness anymore. You can think it is. Everyone here who is thinks he's godly because he's better 44:14 than other believers, but it's got something in your life you're a little discontented about. I want to tell you, dear brother and sister, you're not really godly. You're fooling yourself. There is only one godliness which is 44:28 genuine. It is with contentment in our earthly circumstances. Contentment with our our shape and height and appearance and perfect contentment. I have no complaint, Lord, about anything. I will not say, "Why the same tasting 44:48 thing every day?" Contentment is one of the great lessons God taught them for 40 years by giving the same taste of food every single day for 40 years. Learn that lesson. God has taught us also. We have struggled through different 45:05 circumstances in the early days. We met in the cramped circumstances of my house for 6 years. We never complained. We said, "Lord, if we are to be just here, and we we are to raptured from here, that's fine." Because we were not interested in 45:22 numbers. We were interested in quality. And God is building us as a family. And I can see when I look back now after 6 years in my house, God gave us that other building where we met for 33 years, from 1981. 45:40 At the right time he moved us there. But by the time he had made us a body, a family. And that's that family that he was building in the first 6 years before he gave us a hall. And he knew that if we give if I give these people a big hall 45:56 before they become a family, they'll be taken up with outreach and getting the places filled and they're not even related to one another properly. Don't be so eager to put up a building to show, "Oh, we're reaching out people. 46:08 We put up a building." Have you become a family yet? What is God building? He's not building halls. No. He's building a family. And that's so very important. So very, very important to build a family. And he taught us in verse three, 46:28 Deuteronomy 8:3, "But man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord." This is what the Lord taught us in 40 years. And it's very interesting that this is what the first word that Jesus spoke in 46:44 his ministry. The first word that Jesus spoke in his ministry was, "Man will not live by food alone, but by every word that proceeds from God's mouth." And instead of food, you can say, "Man does not live by having a job alone. Man does not live by just 46:58 having a good house, or a good car, or good clothes, or good food, or good anything on this earth. Man can live only if he receives the word from the mouth of the Lord." If he lives by that, means not that he reads the Bible every day. That's not 47:16 the point, but that he obeys the Bible every day. That's what it means to live by the word of God. I'll tell you honestly, it doesn't disturb me so much if I was so busy and I didn't read the Bible one day. It'll disturb me 47:26 tremendously if I did not obey the Bible anytime during those 24 hours. A lot of Christians are disturbed. They didn't read the Bible in the morning, but they disobeyed the Bible many times during the day, and they don't get 47:38 disturbed by that. I say you got it all upside down. You've been taught by Babylonian Christianity, "READ THE BIBLE, AND THEN YOU'RE OKAY." NO. I say obey the Bible throughout the day. That's what it means to live by the word 47:57 of God. By to live by the word that proceeds from the mouth of God, it's a continuous tense. Not not that proceeded at 8:00 in the morning or 6:00 in the morning when you open the Bible, but which proceeds from the mouth of the 48:12 Lord throughout the day. Maybe at 1:00 in the afternoon, the word of the Lord comes to me and says, "Forgive that man." He treated you badly right now, forgive him. There's a word that's proceeding from the mouth of the Lord at 1:00 in 48:26 the afternoon. I'm not reading my Bible then. And I say, "Sure, Lord. I forgive him." The The word of the Lord which says, "Don't look at that immodestly dressed woman." Maybe 3:00 in the afternoon. You're not reading your Bible. It's a 48:43 word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. And I tell you the word is proceeding from the mouth of the Lord all the time for those who have ears to hear. And if you live by that, that's what the Lord has taught us in these 40 years. 49:00 To live by every word. That means if we see one little commandment in the Bible, one little teaching in the Bible, we follow it. It may be small thing, like sisters should veil their heads when they pray or prophesy. Small thing. 49:16 We teach it. Don't call yourself by titles like rabbi, father, or today if Jesus was saying pastor, reverend, right reverend, all that. Don't go by titles. You are all brothers. Small thing. For us it is the word of God. 49:34 There are also big commandments like don't kill, don't steal, don't commit adultery, but it makes no difference to us whether it's a big commandment or a small commandment. The question to us is who gave it? It's a great God who gave the big 49:48 commandment, and the same great God gave the small commandment. we obey it. We don't you know, hypocritically say, "We believe the Bible is the word of God, but I think we can modify some of the commandments in it." God sees that. 50:04 And he says, "Let him live like that. Let him see how much Let me see how much spiritual fruit comes from his life when he treats my word like that." We decided from the beginning that we would try to obey according to 50:23 our understanding everything that is written in the New Testament. It didn't matter to us whether be other people around us obeyed it or not. We would obey it. We did everything and to us it was not just the written word. 50:37 In the Old Testament, it is a written commandment. In the New Testament, it was the living word of Jesus. Christ who came in our flesh. The word became flesh. In the Old Testament, the word was written. You had to read it. Now, we have the word has 50:55 become flesh. So, now I see the word of God in Jesus. So, we decided to follow the principles of Jesus' life as we sought to build our church. For example, that Jesus never took a title. We are all brothers. 51:13 Jesus always had the spirit of service. Always willing to wash people's feet. And that mean means doing a dirty job for our fellow believers. You say the qualification to become a part of CFC, I've often said, is you must be willing to clean the 51:32 toilets at the back. If you at any stage in your life feel that you're too big to clean the toilets, you can't be a part of God's kingdom. We have wonderful brothers and sisters in CFC 51:52 who despite their age or experience or seniority would be gladly go and clean the toilets. I would clean it any day. I've done it and I'll do it again. And there are others who feel ah, that's a little beneath my dignity. 52:04 You know, I'm a sort of an educated type of guy. Well, God bless you if he can. I'm not sure whether he can, but anyway. These are little things God has taught us. The way Jesus lived. He never asked anybody for money even 52:22 once. He never sent a report of his work to anybody. This is what I'm doing. This is what I'm doing over there. He used to share with his disciples. But never outside the circle of his disciples. And so we were also far very careful. 52:42 We would share with our family what God is doing here and there. But we never sent a report to any part of the world about what we are doing. If you go to our CFC website, try and find out from our CFC website how many churches were planted through 53:00 CFC's ministry. You'll think it is zero. Cuz that's the impression we wanted people to have. Zero. It's hidden. It's hidden before God. Go to any other church website, any other in the internet of people who are planning churches and 53:19 see if it is the same. It's not the same. There's a lot of advertising in Christian work. Jesus never did it. He never asked people for money. Every Christian website will say, "Here's where you got to give money." Jesus made some conditions. 53:38 He said, "You can't give money to God if things are not right between you and your brother. If you go to these offering boxes we have, you'll see a little note there. Before you give money, check these five things. Are you born again? 53:53 Are things right between you and others? Do you have enough for your own needs? Questions like that. Are you giving cheerfully? Are you giving in order to get a reward? Tell me one other church in the world where you have seen such notice on top 54:11 of an offering box. We're trying to stop people from giving who are not right with God, because we are more interested in them BEING RIGHT WITH GOD THAN THEIR MONEY. THAT'S HOW JESUS WAS. That rich young ruler who could have given SUCH A LOT OF MONEY for 54:24 God's work, Jesus said, "No, you love money too much." WHERE DO WE HAVE SUCH CHRISTIANITY TODAY? Who will drive away the rich because they love money too much? Show me a pastor like that. Pastors run after the big executives and 54:40 people with a lot of money. That is Babylon, 100%. Jesus never took an offering. Show me a church where they don't take offerings. He received money. Read in Luke chapter 8, verse 2 and 3, where some people voluntarily gave Jesus money, he took 55:00 it. Cuz he needed to feed 13 people and so many of them had families. He didn't He wasn't so super spiritual saying, "No, I won't take it." He took it. But he never asked. Apostle Paul was like that. Paul never sent a report of his work 55:15 anywhere. He never asked anybody for money. But when the Philippians gave, he took. We followed the Bible exactly in all these areas. Jesus never got a salary. He never promised a salary to any of his disciples, and that's the principle we 55:34 have followed. We work with about more than 150 elders in nearly 75 churches. Not one of them receives a salary. No. 55:52 We try to follow Jesus. Exactly. Not sort of in most things. Jesus didn't tell the father, "Father, I've done most of the things you told me to do." No. He obeyed exactly. Every word that proceeds out of the 56:12 mouth of God, that's what the Lord has taught us for 40 years. Many of Many people would say, "Oh, brother Zac, we'd like to have a church like this in our locality." Sure, you can. Just fulfill the conditions. Say you want to follow Jesus exactly, 56:26 literally, exactly like he did it, exactly like Paul did it. Do you know, if you read 2 Corinthians 8 and 9, you see the tremendous burden that Paul had that people who had plenty of money should give money for the poor. 56:39 And he's got a two whole chapters on it. Give money to the poor. We believed in that. We have given millions of rupees to poor people as it says in Galatians 6:10, especially to the household of faith. And the poor village churches. 56:56 And we see Jesus doing that. One of the last things he he I mean, people thought even at the Last Supper that he was telling Judas Iscariot to give money to the poor because they saw that so much in Jesus' life. Turn with me to John 13. This is what 57:11 the Lord taught us about the use of money. John 13. What the Lord taught us in 20 in 40 years. John 13. When the Lord told Judas Iscariot to go and do quickly what you want to do, you know, what he meant was, "You want to 57:28 betray me, go and betray me." But that His disciples did not understand that. And when they heard Jesus say that, they misunderstood it. And you learn something there. John 13:29, some were thinking because Judas had the money box, 57:47 that Jesus must have been telling him two things. Why these two things? Because they had seen through 3 and 1/2 years that those are the only two things for which Jesus spent money. And I said, "Lord, that must be my testimony, too. 58:03 That I spend money for two things. One, buy what is needed. Number one, don't be so spiritual and say, "No, that's not first." I buy what is needed. And what is needed for me may not be the same what is needed for somebody else. 58:22 He has to decide what he needs. I don't judge him. And people may judge me, they're welcome to judge me, but I decide what I need. And I have my own reasons for it. And I'm not taking other people's money, but with what I got God God has given 58:36 me, I buy what I need. I build the type of house I feel I should live in. People can say what they like. I buy the type of vehicle I should travel in, or the number of vehicles you need if you've got a larger family, sure. 58:48 I buy what I need, and none of you need to feel guilty for buying what you need. And don't judge other people as to what they need. Your needs may be more in different countries and different circumstances, it's more. Secondly, 59:05 give to the poor. That's all. Give something to the poor. Those are the only two reasons two things with Jesus spent money. And I said, "Lord, that's how I want to do it." And that's how Paul lived. That's the word of God. 59:20 So, that's what the Lord has taught us and we have what we have tried to teach. I'm not sure if everybody in CFC's following it. That's not my business. Jesus taught many things which people didn't follow. In fact, in the seven churches 59:34 in the book of Revelation chapter 2 and 3, only two of the seven churches were following what Jesus said. Backsliding had come even then. It doesn't matter. God has got a remnant. I believe he's got a remnant in India. And we have tried to build that remnant 59:50 in other countries. Our people who want to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. That is how the Lord has led us in all these years. And that's why in the area of money, too, we decided when we build a 1:00:04 building, we will never send a letter out to other people saying, "Please send us some money." Did any of you get a letter from us saying, "Please send us some money to build this building?" Anytime it 1:00:24 We bought this land more than 2 years ago and then it took us about a year and a half to construct this. Nobody got a letter from us saying, "Send us some money." You think we You think we had people rolling in wealth in our church? Far 1:00:39 from it. But we have a father in heaven who saw our need. And we said, "Lord, we shall always be concerned about the welfare of others 1:00:56 and not about our own need." We got that from Philippians chapter 2. Beautiful expression. Philippians 2. Paul said about Timothy in verse 20 and 21, 1:01:16 "Everybody seeks after their own interest, but not those of Christ Jesus. Verse 20, I have no one else like Timothy who will genuinely be concerned for the welfare of others. And we said, "Lord, the Holy Spirit 1:01:33 appreciates in Philippians 2:20 a man like Timothy who is always genuinely concerned about the welfare of others that even among Paul's co-workers, there was nobody like him. He was the only one. Lord, we want to raise a bunch of people 1:01:51 like Timothy who are not concerned about themselves but concerned about the welfare of others." So, 33 years ago, when we moved out of my the cramped circumstances of my house to a little bigger building where CFC 1:02:11 was for 33 years in Decosta Square, we were concerned about the welfare of others, not for ourselves. When we built another floor on it, it's because our numbers increased. We were concerned for the welfare of others. Then we had to build another floor on 1:02:27 top of that because more people started coming. We were concerned for the welfare of others. And that got crowded, then we prayed that God would give us another place, again concerned for the welfare of others. That's why we We didn't build this place 1:02:39 for ourselves. No. Concerned for the welfare of others. Can we make it easy for others? Make it comfortable for others? Lord, I know it's going to cost a lot of money to accommodate so many people, to arrange for all everything, 1:02:57 but we want to be concerned for the welfare of others. We want We want many Timothys, men and women with the spirit of Timothy. And when it comes to money, I often think of God telling Noah, "Build a ship." I mean, if God told you to build a 1:03:16 little boat, I can understand. But imagine if God told you to build a ship to accommodate all the animals in the world. What is the first thing that would come to your mind? Lord, where is the money going to come from? 1:03:33 How is it Noah didn't ask that question? Because he knew what the answer would be. God would have said, "From your own pocket, Noah. Where else? From your own pocket. Sell you some of your land. 1:03:52 You got a lot of land, Noah. I've given you blessed you so much. Sell some of it. Lord, but this is for your work. It's not for mine. Yes, for my work is your work. What do you mean my work and your work? Aren't we in a partnership here?" 1:04:07 I said, "Lord, it's wonderful." You know, it's wonderful to have a joint account with Jesus Christ. Whereas he's he's one signatory and I'm the other signatory. And I put in my one rupee and he puts in his billions and says, 1:04:22 "Let's have a joint account." I said, "Sure. That's great." It's wonderful to have a joint account with Jesus. Where you never say to him, you know, a lot of Christians say, "10% of mine is yours." And God says to them, "That's great. 10% 1:04:38 of mine is also yours." But Jesus said in John 17:10, "Father, all that I have is yours." And the father said, "Really? Then all that I have is yours." This is what it means to follow in Jesus' footsteps. We have lived according to that. Many poor brothers 1:04:56 have sacrificed a lot to build this hall for the welfare of others. And those who had plenty have also given abundantly. Especially those who have been blessed 1:05:13 through CFC's ministry, appreciated it. They have given We never asked anybody. We never made anybody feel guilty. You know, that's what some people make people feel guilty that they're not giving. No, no, no, no. If you give out 1:05:28 of out of a feeling of guilt, God won't accept it. Keep it. But there are people who have recognized what the word of God says. What Paul said that where they have 1:05:46 received spiritually, they respond materially to the for the welfare of others. We We don't have any paid preachers. The elders here, including me, have never taken one rupee from this church in 40 years. Never. 1:06:04 We have supported ourselves and served the Lord. Trusted God to provide our needs. We tried our best to follow the example of the Apostle Paul. If that involves sacrifice, so be it. Only with sacrifice can the house of God 1:06:22 be built. Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. He sacrificed himself to build the church. Most people will not build the church unless they are paid for it. Jesus wasn't paid. He sacrificed. 1:06:39 And that's why we have seen a quality of church coming up which those who follow Babylonian principles will never see, even if they come and watch us, observe us, and try to sing the same songs, preach the same doctrines, it will not work till you get 1:06:54 people to have the spirit of sacrifice that Jesus had. That I'll give myself and all that I have completely for the sake of building God's church. So, we followed that principle and therefore we decided when we built that building, 1:07:09 we'd never be in debt for 1 rupee. Let me tell you this. When we completed that building in 1981, we did not owe 1 rupee to any bank or anybody. As we've completed this building now, we don't owe 1 rupee to anybody. There's 1:07:23 no lease, no mortgage, no nothing. We obeyed Romans 13:8, "Owe no man anything." We believe. You say, "Brother, how can we do those things in this world? In the world in which we live?" We are supposed to be a living demonstration to 21st century 1:07:41 people that we have a Father in heaven. That we don't operate in the principles of the business world. Most Christian organizations, churches operate on the principles of the business world. Let's go to the bank and see how much 1:07:55 that bank manager will give us a loan. God bless you, brother. If he can. Can you imagine Jesus going to a bank manager in his days and saying, "Hey, my heavenly Father is a bit hard up for money. So, 1:08:14 you guys have got more than my Father in heaven, so can you please give me something because we want to do God's work?" And the bank manager says, "Oh, really? Okay, sure. And you got to pay so much interest every month." "Sure," Jesus says, "I'll sign a 1:08:27 contract with you." Can you imagine Jesus doing that? Can you imagine Paul doing it? I can imagine many companies and businesses doing that. That's okay in the world. That's okay if you're building your house. That's okay. 1:08:41 But when it comes to God's house, the principles must be according to God's word. Not forcing people like so many people build, you know, auditoriums and conference centers. They force people, "Hey, you give me this." We've also got many, many churches that 1:08:56 could have supported us. We could have said, "Hey, you got to give me this. And you got to give me that." That's how a lot of people operate. But not Jesus. Money is the great test of whether a work is a work of God or not. 1:09:10 I've found that through the years. You go and look at a work of God and just check their money principles. You can find out immediately whether this is a spiritual work or not. See, if they're always talking about money, we are hard up, we are hard up, 1:09:23 we are hard up. They are not trusting their heavenly Father. That is a condition of Christendom. In the midst of all this, we seek to stand up for Christ. We seek to live by every word that has proceeded from the mouth of 1:09:42 God. And one of the words that's proceeded from the mouth of God is that we must build fellowship among ourselves. All men will know you're my disciples when you love one another. Not because of our financial principles. The 1:09:55 financial principles are there, but Jesus did not say all men will know you're my disciples because when you follow financial principles. No. We don't go to that extreme. We follow the financial principles, but we say all 1:10:06 men will know you're we are your disciples of Jesus because we love one another. We build fellowship. And the most wonderful thing in our midst when you go away is not our financial principles. It's not that we don't call each other pastor or 1:10:19 reverend. Those are Those are there. It's not that our sisters cover their head. That's not the great thing. It's that we love one another. We are willing to deny ourselves for the sake of others. And you got to live here to see it. 1:10:33 When people are sick, when people are in need, when people we are here to help one another, care for one another. At the same time, in a poor country like ours, you know, numerous people would like to come and take advantage of our 1:10:45 generosity, and we have to be wise as serpents in dealing with such people. So that we don't build a social service organization instead of the church of Jesus Christ. We need a lot of wisdom. That's why elders have to be strict. 1:11:02 And we have learned through the years to be strict that we are not exploited by people who just want to make use of our money. So, in building fellowship together, which they never had in Old Testament times. That's the other great thing that we 1:11:20 have sought to follow. And I want to show you a verse in the Malachi in chapter 1. It's one of the first verses that the Lord gave us when we started our work way back 1:11:39 in 1975 August. The Lord was telling the Israelites. This is the last prophet. Let me paraphrase his words, Malachi chapter 1. Verse 6 to 11. 1:11:58 I'm paraphrasing it. The son honors his father, but you don't honor me. You're despising my name. How is that? Because, verse 8, when you bring a sacrifice to me, you offer something that is cheap. You offer something that costs you 1:12:15 nothing. You got a blind sheep and you put that as a sacrifice. You got a lame ox and you put that as a sacrifice. And that sick goat, which is about to die in a week, you give that as a sacrifice. Is that how you give to God? 1:12:29 The cheap, the dregs, giving that which is left over and not the best of your flock. Like Abel offered the best. What sort of offering do you give? Israelites were giving that which is cheap. And he says, "I wish YOU PRIESTS WILL 1:12:48 CLOSE THE GATES, VERSE 10, and not accept such sacrifices." Say, "Sorry, we don't want your sacrifice. Keep it." But the priests were not like that those days. They were compromisers. So, the Lord says, "I've finished with 1:13:02 all of you, Israel. I've finished with you as a nation. I'm going to do a new work, and that's going to be the church." Verse 11, "From the east to the west in every nation there will be people who will offer Verse 11, last part, an offering that is 1:13:17 pure. An offering that is sacrificial. An offering that is pure. And then my name will be great." That's the word the Lord gave us when we started our work. God is looking for a pure offering, pure hearts, 1:13:36 purity in words, purity in relation to money, sacrificial in service to God. And those are the emphasis we had in those days when we preached discipleship. And one last thing, there would be no church today 1:13:54 in the world if there was not on the day of Pentecost people mightily baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire. And I want to say today, there would have been no CFC if some of us right at the beginning 1:14:12 did not experience a genuine baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire. I don't know whether all of you have valued it, sought for it. I remember Ian and I, 1:14:33 through whom this work started, Ian Robson and I, we were so desperately needy way back in '74. We used to pray together. Desperately needy. I did not know his need, he did not know mine. But we were needy. I was defeated. I don't know about him. 1:14:50 But as we sought God, we said, "Lord, I was so fed up. I'll tell you honestly, that even though I was a gifted preacher, I said, "Lord, I'm going to quit the ministry because my inner life does not correspond with my outer life. 1:15:05 I'm just a hypocrite. You have to fill me with the Holy Spirit." We prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed. And one day God baptized us in the Holy Spirit. Believe me, that was the beginning of CFC. 6 7 months 1:15:25 before it actually started. CFC started in August. And in January of that year, 7 months earlier, God met with us, filled us with the Holy Spirit. There would have been no CFC if that baptism in the Holy Spirit was not there. 1:15:42 There would have been no church in the world today if it was not a mighty baptism in the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Don't despise this. Don't be turned away because of the fanaticism and extremism that you see 1:15:56 among Pentecostals and Charismatics. We're not Pentecostal. We're not Charismatic. We don't go to these extremes, but we have experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We speak in tongues. We've seen demons cast 1:16:11 out. We've seen sick people healed. We've seen even couple of people almost raised from the dead. And many, many people healed, some instantaneously. We don't talk about it because those are the crumbs that fall from the table. 1:16:28 We talk about the bread which is on the table, which is partaking of God's nature, becoming like Jesus. The crumbs that fall are, you know, provision of our earthly needs and physical healings and things like that. They are there. 1:16:47 Other people make much of that. They make much of the crumbs. We make much of the bread. That's the only difference. But just because we don't talk about those things doesn't mean we don't believe in those things.
