Speaker: Wenhai Pan Title: Seek to Raise Godly Children for God Date: 08/09/2026 Our Goal as Christians is this: To be an exact reflection of Jesus, the Son of God (Romans 8:29) We do this individually by growing in purity in our personal lives (1 John 3:2-3) We do this corporately by becoming fully functioning members of a local Church (Ephesians 4:11-16)

Summary

Christians are called to reflect Jesus Christ individually through personal purity and corporately through active participation in the local church. Wenhai Pan emphasizes that raising godly children requires parents to model this commitment to holiness and church community, recognizing that children learn discipleship primarily through witnessing their parents' genuine transformation in Christ.

The significance of the second floorUsing the church's new location on the second floor as a metaphor, the speaker explains that while the first floor represents personal walk with God, the second floor represents our family life.

God values those who raise godly childrenThe speaker introduces the main theme: God places great value on parents who commit to raising their children for Him.

The faithfulness of the RechabitesDrawing from Jeremiah 35, the speaker describes how the Rechabites maintained their ancestors' nomadic traditions for generations to show they were not part of this world.Jeremiah 35:4

The power of long-term obedienceFor over 200 years, the Rechabites resisted the pressure to conform to worldly comforts like houses and vineyards, staying true to their forefather's command.

God honors those who hold to His standardsThe speaker encourages young people not to lower God's standards for the sake of marriage, noting how God provided wives for the Rechabites and for himself.

The Spirit of Jonadabjonadab and say my zeal is going to be hidden my zeal is going to be raising up disciples for you bringing up my children in the fear of god that is going to be my my ministry

What is the best environment for raising children? While physical safety and good schools are important, the best environment for a child is a home where Jesus is present.2 Corinthians 2:10

Avoiding the door for Satan through forgivenessUnforgiveness and bitterness between husband and wife create an opening for Satan to enter the home; therefore, parents should 'let it and go' for the sake of their children.2 Corinthians 2:10–11

The necessity of taking discipline seriouslyKnowledge of scripture is insufficient if children lack character; discipline is essential to prevent behaviors like lying or disrespect from undermining their faith.

The danger of avoiding disciplineUsing King David's son Adonijah as an example, the speaker warns that failing to correct children because they are 'cute' or easy to overlook can lead to a disastrous, rebellious life.

Building relationships through time and encouragementDiscipline must be balanced with spending quality time and encouraging godly behavior, such as kindness and truthfulness, rather than just academic success.

Relying on God to transform the heartWhile parents can provide the 'firewood' of teaching, only God can circumcise the hearts of parents and children so they truly love Him with all their soul.Deuteronomy 30:6
