Let us lift [singing and music] our holy 27:13 hands and magnify his name and worship [music and singing] Christ the Lord. Worship [singing] him Jesus 27:31 Christ [singing] the Lord. Let's bow our heads, [clears throat] you 28:04 know, in prayer. Whiten our spirits and minds to his presence. He deserves all our attention. He's the king of king, the lord of lord. 28:28 He's the one only one mediator for us. He's the one who is was exalted by God Almighty. Let's quieten ourselves before him. Let's keep ourselves from all 28:57 distractions. Give him rightful place in our hearts and minds for him. Because the real joy to our soul comes in the presence of Jesus. As we sang 29:20 in one of the song, I long to be where the praise is never ending. Yearn to dwell where the glory never fades. where countless worshippers will share one song 29:38 and cries of worthy will honor the lamb. Psalm 63 says, "Oh God, you are my God. I shall seek you earnestly. 29:54 My soul thirsts for you. My flesh yearns for you. Thus I have seen you in the sanctuary to see your power and your glory because your loving kindness is better than 30:10 life. My lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live. I will lift up my hands in your name. My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness and my mouth offers praises with joyful 30:30 lips. Let's do that brothers and sisters. We praise you. Praise you, Father. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Thank you. You're worthy. You're worthy indeed. Thank you, oh redeemer. Lord Jesus, thank you. Thank you for making a way for us. Thank 30:49 you for helping us to stand the presence of God with your righteousness, Lord. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Father. Thank you. Praise you all. Praise and glory and honor to you, Lord. We don't deserve any of this, Lord. Thank you. You've given 31:08 us all that we don't deserve. Thank you for the name of Jesus. We can stand firm. we can come to the throne of grace with boldness, with confidence. Thank you. Thank you for making a way. Thank you for a wonderful plan you have for 31:25 us, Lord. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Father. Thank you. Thank you for your goodness and mercy and wonderful plan you have for us. Even today, you have given this day to us. Lord, we want to sit your presence and 31:44 see what you do, Lord. Lord, we pray that our coming together will bring glory and honor to you. Speak the words from heaven. Anoint your servant and give us a word to our own hearts, Lord. 32:01 Revive us. Let our heart be purified, sanctified, Lord. Thank you. Be thou glorified Lord. Give us word. We trust you, Father. We look to you for your leading. Your Holy Spirit taking over 32:19 and touching our hearts so that we'll be drawn to you and we'll fulfill all that you have planned for us. Lord, fill us with your spirit. Make us a better witness, Lord. Yes, Lord. You have called us for that, Lord. Be thou 32:35 magnified in our midst, Lord. in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Please be seated brothers and sisters. We look into um memory verse. Last week we had a promise from Proverbs. Please 32:53 repeat after me. Proverbs chapter 29 23. A man's pride will bring him low. But a humble spirit 33:10 will obtain honor. This week we have a command from Psalm 96. Please repeat after me. Uh Psalm 96 verse 9. Worship the Lordship 33:27 with a beauty of his holy lives. This is from Living Bible. And please [clears throat] repeat after me. Um Psalm 96:9mal. >> Worship the Lordship 33:44 with the beauty of holy lives. Praise the Lord for his commands and promises. Um we're so privileged to hear God's word. It's such a privilege. God's word is lamp unto our feet. 34:03 um that only protects us from this evil world, evil flesh and helps us to live a rightful life before the Lord. And we are so happy to have brother Charles sharing the word with us. Let's hear uh attentively what the Lord is speaking to 34:22 our hearts. That's more important more than all the knowledge and understanding. What the Lord speaks to our heart is very very important. Let's tune into the his spirit so that we will hear what the Lord is trying to speak to 34:37 our hearts. Over to brother Charles. Thank you this morning. Would you turn with me in 34:59 your Bibles to Ephesians chapter 2? Here it speaks about the first part speaks about our our uh former life in Christ. I mean without 35:19 Christ. It says you were dead in your trespasses before we came to Christ in repentance and faith. All of us were dead spiritually as far as God is concerned and in which we formally walked 35:36 according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air of the spirit that's now working in the sons of disobedient among them. We too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging in the 35:55 desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature children of wroth even as the rest. It says how we lived without Christ before we came to Christ. We had only one goal all of us. That is to do our 36:14 will. That is to sin. That is to gratify our flesh. That is to do what I wanted to do and to glorify my old master who was Satan. It says 36:36 here in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world. We lived according to the principles of this world and according to the prince of the power of the air. It says that is Satan 36:55 and of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. And we were all disobedient children once upon a time before the Lord Jesus touched us and quickened us. 37:14 Among them we all formerly lived in the lusts of the flesh, indulging in the desires of the flesh and of the mind that is in our thoughts. And we were by nature children of wroth even as the rest. 37:31 And then comes the glorious word but God. Whenever you read this these two verses in scripture but God then you must know that God is intervening here. God is doing something 37:51 which man could not do, none of us could do in our determination or in our strength. But God who is rich in mercy because of his great love with which he loved us. 38:09 See, God loved us in spite of ourselves. Even when we were dead in sins and trespasses, as we read, God still loved us. Romans 5:8, it says, "God demonstrated 38:26 his love in this, that while we were at sinners, he sent Jesus to die for us." Why did he have to do that? Because of his great love. As it says here, God being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved 38:45 us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, he made us alive. Together with Christ, by grace, you've been saved. And he raised us up with him and seated us with 39:04 him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. See this is something that we need to appropriate and understand properly because it says that he has raised us up 39:19 with him and seated us with Christ in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That means those of us whom God touched once upon a time and 39:35 brought about conviction of our sins and we repented of our sins and put our faith in him. He forgave us all our sins freely without any 39:52 from our part except to repent. And then it says that he in his great love he raised us up with him and he did some glorious things which it's written here and many times 40:11 we just gloss over it and think oh it may be maybe in the future not now but it says it is already done verse six that God raised us up with Christ 40:27 and seated us with Christ in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. You see, you and I have been loved by God and have been raised 40:44 with Christ and have been made to sit with Christ in the heavenly places. That means we are as far as God is concerned sitting with Jesus Christ in the heavenly places. How many of us believe that 41:04 our feet are here but our mind should be as it were in heaven. Like Colossians 3, it says, "Consider yourself dead to sin, alive unto God, and now your life is hid with Christ in God." We'll come to that 41:24 verse later. And this was our condition before we all came to Christ. We were all lost. And we had only one ambition to sin and to sin and to sin and to do our own will. 41:42 and to obey the prince of the power of the air s that is Satan. But God intervened. And how did he intervene? Jesus came with the message when he started his public ministry. The 42:02 first word he spoke was repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. You don't hear this word repent in many churches these days. Many churches have become um a entertainment center these 42:18 days. Singing singing is it's musical concert and they let you hear what you want to hear not what you need to hear. And that's why many people flock there 42:36 to mega churches, have a good time of enjoyment and come back home and live the rest of their life between Sundays like the devil. God has not called us to live like that. In this church, we emphasize how you 42:54 live between Sundays, not on Sunday. Sunday everybody is a saint and after we go back home it's a different story but we speak our life between Sundays in 43:12 this church brothers and sisters not how you live for two hours here on Sunday morning that counts that makes God happy but God loves a cheerful giver who gives himself 43:31 cheerfully 24/7 to God to do his will and to glorify his name. And this is how we all were but God. And then we read what happens when God intervenes. 43:50 Let's turn back to Romans chapter 7. Romans chapter 7. This is during the apostle Paul's probably initial 44:09 um time as a Christian and he writes he also was once upon a time you know living for the world living for the prince of the power of the air doing his will obeying him wholeheartedly 44:28 he was very sincere He speaks when he whenever he testifies about himself, he says, "From my childhood, I have I have walked blamelessly before God and before men." He says he was an upright man, a sincere man to begin with, but he was 44:46 sincere and he was sincerely killing Christians with a with a clear conscience. But he didn't know that. But when God touched him and washed him and gave him a new life and put his Holy Spirit 45:02 inside of him, then began this tussle, this internal war. Because all along there was only one nature and one spirit and now there is a dual spirit. 45:21 his human spirit and the Holy Spirit. And now there is always a clash. And that he explains here in chapter 7 of Romans 21 onwards. He says, "I f I find then 45:41 the principle that evil is present in me." Even though he has been born again, baptized in the Holy Spirit, filled with the Holy Spirit, he says, "Evil is present in me, the one who wishes to do good. 45:59 For I join joyfully conquer with the law of God in the inner man. But I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of 46:15 sin which is in my members. And he sees this tussle between the flesh and the spirit. The flesh wants to pull him down to earth to make him sin. But there is another spirit that God has 46:35 placed in him that wants to pull him up, pull him up towards heaven, towards God, towards the things of uh heaven. And he says, I see a different law in my members, waging war against the law of my mind, 46:53 making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Then he cries out a cry saying, "Wretched man that I am, who will set me free from the body of this death?" 47:12 He finds himself helpless. On the one hand, the flesh is pulling him to do earthly things, fleshly things, fleshly desires in his members. On the other hand, the spirit is trying to pull him up 47:31 from this world and make him more and more heavenly, transform him more and more. But he says, "Who will set me free from this body of death?" 47:49 Then he exclaims and says, "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord." So then on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God but on the other hand with my flesh the law of sin and then unfortunately there is a 48:08 chapter division there we come to the next verse in chapter 8 verse1 where it says when there is a tussle like this there is internal war waging in me And there he says 48:27 there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I was looking at many versions this verse in many versions and most of the translations they end there. 48:47 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And many people take advantage of this verse and say they say see it's written there that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 49:01 So I don't have to be condemned. I don't have to feel bad about it. The Lord has taken care of my sins. That's true. But you know unfortunately many translators have left the second part of this verse which says who walk 49:18 not according to the flesh but according to the spirit. Many other original translations add that word. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the 49:37 spirit. So if you're the kind of person who is not walking after the flesh but after the spirit, after the Holy Spirit and being directed and dictated and led by the Holy Spirit 49:55 every day, then there is no condemnation for you and me. Because second verse says, "For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. 50:13 For what the law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did, sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh. And as an offering for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh." 50:29 Jesus condemned sin in his flesh not because he was any different from other from us because it says that what the law could not do weak as it was through the flesh God did sending his 50:48 own son in the likeness of his in the likeness of sinful flesh and many people take that word and say see It says not exactly like us. But Jesus came in the likeness 51:06 of sinful flesh. He was different. Now that is where many Christians go astray and miss the bus. When we read it carefully only if we take this verse and say in the likeness of my flesh he came and he 51:26 conquered and now we can conquer. No we cannot because he came in the likeness of sinful flesh and that is why he could not sin. But let us not take just one scripture and go by that and say, "Yeah, Jesus 51:45 Christ's flesh was different from mine." Okay, in that case, turn with me to 1 John 1 John 4:1. Let us see what kind of flesh Jesus came in. 1 John chapter 52:04 4 verse 1 and two. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God because many false prophets have gone out into the 52:23 world. And by this you know the spirit of God. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh like you and me is from God. 52:40 Jesus Christ came in the flesh like you and me. And that is what is that is what makes the difference. And also in uh John 1:14, 53:00 John's gospel 1:14, we know this verse, most of us. John 1:14, the word became flesh, 53:19 that is Jesus Christ, and dwelt among us. The word became flesh, not in the likeness of sinful flesh. Jesus became human being. Took upon flesh and blood like you and 53:38 me and dwelt among us. And we beheld his glory. Glory as of the only begotten from the father, full of grace and truths. And this is the Jesus that we worship. Paul speaks of another Jesus in 1 53:55 Corinthians 11 and another spirit he speaks and he speaks of another gospel. So that means there is another Jesus who didn't come in the flesh, another gospel 54:14 and another spirit other than the spirit of Christ. But the real Jesus came in the flesh like exactly like you and me born of a virgin. And if he was any different from us, 54:33 then there was no need for Judas to give a sign to the capturers, the capttors who came to capture Jesus. He said, "The one to whom I go and kiss is the one whom you must arrest." 54:52 Jesus was an ordinary looking person like us. He had no halo around his head. He was not, you know, some 7 8 ft tall to look like the son of God. 55:09 He was just maybe of average height and his glory was hidden. So nobody knew. Sometimes people had to ask we want to see Jesus. Jesus was not so prominent to be known like today's 55:27 kings we see in a special dress. Today's some so-called god men we see with some extra hair and some different type of colored dress and all 55:45 that. Jesus was not like that. Jesus was like us. And we read there that uh we have been changed. We have been made different like we read in Colossians chapter 3 56:04 like I was referring to Colossians chapter 3. Colossians chapter 3 I would like to read this in the living 56:20 paraphrase. It comes out very clearly. It says, "Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, now set your sights 56:37 on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where Christ sits beside God in the place of honor and power." And the next verse is very important. Next two verses 56:56 it says let heaven fill your thoughts. What is filling our thoughts today? Are we still bothered about the earthly things like the chickens and the pigs all the time looking here and there going and scratching to find what 57:16 is there. All the time looking down looking down to eat something to get something. Are we like that? It says, "Let heaven fill your thoughts. Don't spend your time worrying about things down here." 57:35 Verse three is very important in this translation. You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person has. See, we are all living. We are all alive. But it says here, you should have as little desire for the things of this 57:55 world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God. Like we read already in Ephesians 2:6, our life is already we are already 58:14 made to sit with Christ in the heavenly places. [snorts] And Christ is sitting beside God and we are sitting with Christ in the heavenly places. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God. And when Christ who is our real 58:34 life comes back again, you will shine with him and share in all his glories. We saw in Romans, let's go back to that Romans chapter 8, 58:50 that glorious chapter. Most of us I mean most of you brothers and sisters who always are not sure you are always wavering whether one day you feel you are saved another day you feel you slipped up here 59:08 and there and you felt you wonder whether you are saved see for such people this chapter Romans chapter 8 read it reread it and read it 59:25 again and again and again until it sinks in you because this gives you and tells you of your deliverance from the past and about your glorious future. 59:44 It says in verse three that Jesus did what we could not do in order that the requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit. The same second part of verse one is repeated 1:00:03 here. requirement of the law will be fulfilled in us when we do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to 1:00:22 the spirit, the things of the spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace. See here it is very clear my dear brothers and sisters what our mind should be set upon 1:00:41 because when we set our mind upon the flesh it is leading us to death but when we set our mind upon the spirit it's leading us to life and peace because the mindset on the flesh is hostile toward God for it does not 1:00:59 subject itself to the law of God for it is not even able to do so. However, uh verse 8, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Do you know that 1:01:18 if I live in the flesh, obeying the dictates of the flesh, I cannot please God. And however you are not in the flesh but in the spirit. If indeed there is a big if there if you forget 1:01:37 that then we get we missed the bus. It says if indeed the spirit of God dwells in you but if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ he does not belong to him. Are you sure today that you have the spirit 1:01:55 of God? spirit of Christ living in you. It says if anyone does not have the spirit of co Christ, he does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of 1:02:13 righteousness. But if again if if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies 1:02:32 through his spirit who dwells in you. Dear brothers and sisters, we are not under obligation to sin, to live according to the flesh. Verse 13 is very important. 1:02:51 For if you're living according to the flesh, you must die. See, many churches, they just say, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." That is true. That is scripture. Acts 16:31 Paul said to 1:03:08 the jailer when he asked sir what must I do to be saved he said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your household but they forget in what condition that man was when he asked that question 1:03:27 when the jailer asked Paul he was on his knees trembling calling for light lamp. He had already repented. In repentance, he's asking what I must do 1:03:46 on his knees. To him, Paul says, believe. Repent and believe. Exactly what Jesus said, repent and believe. Then you will be saved. And then it says here verse 13, if you are living according to the 1:04:04 flesh, you must die. Not that you may die, you must die. And what did Satan tell Eve in the Garden of Eden? When she said, "God has forbidden us to eat of this tree." 1:04:21 He said, "If we eat, we shall die." And Satan countered it, saying, "You shall surely not die." But what does this verse say here? If you live after the flesh, you shall you must die. But if by the spirit you are putting to 1:04:41 death the deeds of the body, you will live. Somebody was reading this verse and the preacher asked him, "What does it say here? Who puts to death the deeds of the body? 1:04:57 He says the Holy Spirit. See, this is the problem. When we don't read scripture properly, we get it wrong. There it says not the Holy Spirit, 1:05:11 but if through the Holy Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. The Holy Spirit doesn't do that work for me. I need to do that in cooperation 1:05:28 with the Holy Spirit. And I need to put the deeds of the body to death. And when I do that, I shall live. For all who are being led by the spirit of God, these are the sons of God. 1:05:47 Are you being led by the spirit of God? Are you being filled with the spirit of God? Are you following the dictates of the spirit of God? Are you obeying him? Are you pleasing him? Are you doing the 1:06:05 will of him who called you from darkness into his marvelous light? Like Jesus said in his oneword autobiography, like we say in John 6:38, I have come down from heaven not to do my own will 1:06:25 but the will of him who sent me. That was the goal of Jesus's life. One sentence autobiography. Jesus said, "I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of him who sent 1:06:42 me." If that is our longing also and our desire and our motto in life, then we can also be blessed 1:07:00 and witnessed by God. This is my beloved son like he witnessed about Christ. So that is our calling dear brothers and sisters. And verse 26 it says we do not know how to pray. 1:07:24 You know the disciples asked Jesus when he was on earth. John taught his disciples to pray. But Lord, you teach us to pray. And then Jesus taught them to pray the Lord's prayer. What we call which is really our prayer. It is not 1:07:41 the Lord's prayer. The Lord's prayer is in John 17 and Matthew 6 is our prayer. Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, etc. That is our prayer. But here it says 1:07:59 the Holy Spirit in verse 26 of chapter 8 of Romans, the Holy Spirit also helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should. But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with wordless 1:08:18 prayer or with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the spirit is because he who intercedes for the saints according to the will of God is the spirit. 1:08:37 He prays for us. It says the holy spirit intercedes for us. This is the ministry of the holy spirit interceding for us. And again it speaks about Jesus. It says about verse 33, who will bring a charge against God's elect. 1:08:55 God is the one who justifies and he's the one who is the one who condemns. Christ Jesus is he who died. Yes. Rather who was raised who is at the right hand of God who also intercedes for us. 1:09:15 See the Holy Spirit is interceding for me. and you, the Lord Jesus Christ is interceding for you and me. And then God the Father himself, it says in verse 31, what then shall we say to these things? 1:09:33 If God be for us, who can be against us? So the whole Trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are for me and with me against the flesh, the world, and the devil. 1:09:49 And when that is true, then what happens? It says nothing will be a surprise. Nothing 1:10:07 happens to me without God's permission. It says here clearly, who shall separate us from the law of Christ? Is it tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword 1:10:25 or death or life or angels or principalities or powers or height or depth or any other created things, nothing shall be able to separate us from the law of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. But in all these things, we 1:10:45 overwhelmingly conquer through Jesus Christ our Lord. That is our calling, my brothers and sisters. You are not standing on a shaky ground. If you're not sure, repent today. 1:11:04 Ask the Lord Jesus. Confess your sins to him. He knows everything and he cleanses you. He washes you and he will make you a new creation in Christ Jesus. Old things will pass away 1:11:22 and everything will become new. And when you become new, there will be a new nature, a new spirit placed in you which will call out to God aba and father. And not only that, all those who have been born again, 1:11:40 one mark of their being born again is that they have a tremendous hunger and thirst for God's word, God's presence and conversation with God. They long to 1:11:57 converse with God in prayer. They long to have the spiritual milk of the word of God. As Peter says, long for the milk of the word of God. And if you're not doing that and you want to expect um easygoing, you know, life, 1:12:19 it will not come so easily, brothers and sisters. God will not drop it on your lap just because you have said a sinner's prayer one time and you are on your way to heaven. Don't deceive yourself. You can be on your way to 1:12:33 heaven today and tomorrow you can be lost if you are following the flesh and the dictates of the flesh and not walk according to the spirit. Keep in mind to the extent that you hate sin, to the 1:12:52 extent that you put Satan under your feet, to that extent the spirit of God will lift you up and make you more than conquerors. He will be your glory and the lifter of your head, then Satan will one day be crushed under your feet. As 1:13:11 Romans 16:20 says, that is your calling and mine. Don't you ever miss that God has called us with a glorious calling and he has given us a glorious future. Let's 1:13:28 listen to his voice and surrender ourselves to him so that he will continue the work that he has begun in us. He will do that because he has promised that faithful is he who promised and he will do it. Let's bow 1:13:46 our heads in prayer. Our father in heaven, we bless you and thank you for your unfailing and infallible word. 1:14:02 We bless you that you have given us all things pertaining to life and godliness and your words which are life and spirit indeed. 1:14:19 We thank you that we can be born again by your word and by your spirit and partake of the divine nature and come to a overcoming life and live in victory every day over every 1:14:38 conscious sin. That's our calling and that's how you lived on this earth and you finished your course and you please the father. Help us even us 1:14:57 Lord to live on this earth. As you lived on this earth as Jesus was so are we in this world. Your word says help us to become like that more and more. Thank you that the work that you have started in us you will complete and we 1:15:17 believe that you will do beyond our asking or thinking because we ask in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. We will sing a song now. Then afterwards we'll hear Ranjit. Amen. We'll sing the song, Breathe on 1:16:06 Me, Breath of God, as a prayer to what we heard this morning. Breathe on me, [singing and music] 1:16:36 breath of God. Fill me [singing] with life a new [music] that [singing] I may love what [music] thou 1:16:55 does love [music] and do [singing] what thou would [music] do. Breathe [singing] on me, breath of God, [singing and music] until my heart is 1:17:19 pure. until [singing] my will is [music] one with to do and do [singing and music] endure. Breathe on [singing and music] 1:17:42 me, breath of God, till [singing] I am holy. [music] until [singing and music] this ugly 1:18:00 part of [music] me goes [singing] with thy fire [music] divine. Breathe [music] on me [singing] breath 1:18:18 of God. So [music and singing] shall I never die, but [singing] live [music] with thee the perfect 1:18:36 life of [singing and music] thy Praise God for what we heard this 1:19:19 Morning. [clears throat] God has been so good to us that he's speaking us words of correction and conviction and words of encouragement. [clears throat] Uh there was an incident which happened couple of centuries back. There was a 1:19:38 ship which was carrying lot of people from one place to another. Many people were traveling in that ship. Due to heavy storm and wind the ship got broke and most of them they died in that u ship and they were drawn almost all of 1:19:54 them but one person he sur somehow survived the whole night and somehow managed to reach a nearby island. So he reached there and he was about to die because he did not eat food. He was starving and he met some tribal people in that 1:20:11 island and those people found him. They came to him and they gave him food. They took care of him and they gave him warm clothes. The whole night he stayed and he was saved. The next day morning he woke up and he went around the island. 1:20:27 He saw these people, the tribal people. He told them that [clears throat] you people are so good. You took care of me. You gave me food. You saved my life. But I see something which is very uh surprising for me. How foolish you are. 1:20:44 You are woriing a god which is invisible. This religion which you believe it's making you lazy. Why don't you get rid of this? Because he was not believing in God. So the leader of the tribal group came and said, "Sir, if you 1:21:00 would have come here 10 years ago, we would have killed you and we would have eaten you because we were cannibballs." 10 years ago, the missionary, one missionary came here. He shared the gospel to us. The life which we are 1:21:12 living is not what we are living. Jesus Christ transformed us. We used to kill people. We used to rob. Whenever we see a ship here nearby, we used to go and attack and we used to kill and we used to rob everything. But our lives have 1:21:26 been transformed because of Jesus Christ. Yes, brothers and sisters, this is true about us. That's what we heard from brother Charles in Ephesians chapter 2. We all can just turn there. We heard that it's a challenging word 1:21:38 where Paul says verse three. It's a very challenging word for us. He says among them we too. Paul says we means he's including himself. We too. He says 1:21:55 Paul what is that you want yourself to be included. What do you want to say? He says we too were lived in the lust of the flesh indulging in the desires of the flesh and mind. We were children of wroth. what we heard but glorious thing 1:22:10 is God out of his rich mercy he loved us with a great love and he purchased us he has he has given us salvation what a wonderful work the salvation the god has planned for us brothers and sisters we all can relate to that our sinful nature 1:22:26 when we when we before we came to the Lord we were so dead to sin but the love of Christ love of God reached out to us when we were yet sinners Jesus Christ died for us and he saved us And we see that it says he made us seated in the heavenly 1:22:43 places. It looks very uh nice to hear that. But when we look our own life, it doesn't look like that. I am sitted in the heavenly places on this earth. Every day I'm getting defeated to a sin that I keep falling getting up. I get 1:22:57 discouraged and condemning myself. So if you ask Paul we Paul will say in Romans chapter 7 2122 23 we all saw that he says yes I also have went through that in the initial day of Paul's life like Charles said that there was a war 1:23:14 between the inner man and the outer man that is the member of our flesh the body but he says he's so fed up he said wretched man I am Paul himself is asking he doesn't stop there he says who will set me Paul asked the question and he answers 1:23:31 as well. Praise be to God through Jesus Christ. And as we heard a challenging word this morning, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, those who don't live according to their flesh. If you have to read that 1:23:44 verse reverse, there is condemnation for those who are out of Christ. So whenever I'm getting condemned, whenever I'm getting uh feeling guilty of what I have done and remorse and if I don't repent, if I keep on condemning self myself, I 1:23:58 have to check whether I'm in Christ or I'm out of Christ. Because if I'm in Christ and if I don't live according to my flesh, there cannot be no condemnation. That's the encouraging and the challenging word which we see in the 1:24:10 scripture. And he says that we brother was mentioning that he has made us alive who we were dead to sin he made us alive and he has raised us and he has given this wonderful life where we can live for uh heavenly father 1:24:28 but these are all true and we all believe this these truths are not new to us but why is that I'm not able to have this constant victorious life why is that sin is again and again overpowering me as I was thinking and about this 1:24:43 passage in the same Romans chapter 8 two things it came to my mind one is Romans chapter 8 verse 26 the first part in the same way the 1:24:58 spirit also helps our weakness the holy spirit is always willing to help us in our weakness brothers and sisters when we are tempted when we are tossed up in many trials and temptation when we are tempted to yield or yield to 1:25:15 our lust of our flesh. The Holy Spirit wants to help us but I am not asking for the power of the Holy Spirit. I ask but I don't ask with desperate. Whenever we go through difficult situation whenever we are tempted in our flesh am I really 1:25:31 seeking Lord Holy Spirit fill me right now with the power of Holy Spirit so that I don't want to yield to this sinful nature. I don't want to yield to this temptation. It says the Holy Spirit wants to help us. And it says in verse 29 middle part 1:25:48 uh 27 he who searches the hearts knows the holy spirit knows whether I'm asking desperately I'm just asking okay I heard in the meeting a brother told me uh they shared in the youth meeting or shared in the uh teens meeting that I have to ask 1:26:04 the part of the holy spirit I just go and ask and again I live the life like that the holy spirit will search our hearts he will see whether I'm desperately asking for the power of the holy spirit when we really desperately 1:26:14 ask for the power of the Holy Spirit definitely he will fill us with his power to overcome sin like Paul says we can be more than conquerors so that's the one area brothers and sisters the Holy Spirit without the power of the 1:26:27 Holy Spirit we cannot live this life of victory we cannot live a life which we will can able to overcome the lust of the flesh the another thing which I was challenged was verse 38 Paul says for I am convinced that in other 1:26:44 translations It says I am persuaded. It means that I strongly believe. This speaks about his faith. Yes, brothers and sisters, one of the main reason that we don't have victory in our lives is because we don't have faith. We re we we 1:27:00 hear such messages in the meeting but deep down in our heart somewhere I have little bit of unbelief. I don't ask the lord to fill me with the holy spirit with faith. I don't come to god with faith in my heart. That's the reason 1:27:12 things are not happening in my life. Paul says, I'm convinced that I have faith that neither death nor life and he keeps on going. Nothing will separate me from the love of Christ. So many a times we can examine ourselves why is that 1:27:26 there is no victory in my life. Why is that I don't have the power of the Holy Spirit even though I'm asking desperately because I ask without faith in my heart. Recently when I heard uh this challenged me uh 2 Kings [clears throat] chapter 7 1:27:43 I was really challenged when I heard this 2 Kings chapter 7 there was a famine there people were starving without food. So verse one the the prophet says then Elijah said listen to the word of the lord thus says the 1:28:01 lord tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekele and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria he says that now you don't have food but tomorrow it will happen that you will get so there was a 1:28:16 person the royal officer was two on whose hand the king was leaning answered the man of God said behold if the lord should make windows in heaven Could this thing be? The prophet of God, the man of God said that tomorrow it will happen. But this 1:28:31 royal officer says, "How it is going to happen? Is the Lord going to open the windows from my man and he's going to give?" He was in doubt. He was in unbelief. So immediately the man of God said, then he said the last part of second verse, "Behold, you 1:28:46 will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat of it." Because he did not believe. The man of God said you will surely see that but you will not eat of it. Rest of the story we know that and if you come to verse 17 1:29:00 it says uh it happened as the prophet Elijah said the it was the fine flour was sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel. It was all given. So people were all starving and they were just rushing together. It was a big 1:29:16 stamped. Verse 17 says, "Now the king appointed the royal officer on whose hand he leaned to have charge of the gate, but the people trampled on him at the gate and he died just as the man of God had said who spoke when the king 1:29:30 came down to him because he did not believe." Man of the Lord said that you will only see from your eyes but you will not be able to eat out of it. We read in verse 20 also it happened exactly to him. So we have we hear this new covenant life 1:29:46 we life of overcoming sin victorious life we have seen our elders going in this path this has been preached in our church for 50 years I can see this I can hear this but there can be a chance that I may not be experienc it because I 1:30:02 don't have faith in my heart like this man if I don't have faith I cannot claim this promise brothers and sisters there's a promise for those who really uh have believe uh those who believe. It says in Mark I think 9:23 it says all 1:30:19 things are possible for those who believe. All things are possible. We can overcome the lust of the flesh. We can overcome the desires of the flesh. We can overcome the devil. We can overcome all the discouraging thoughts and 1:30:32 thoughts of condemnation. We can all overcome this if we believe. The promise for those who believe is all things are possible. Means the person who believes will get will get everything if if he or she believes. But there is another 1:30:48 promise for people those who don't believe. It's it's in James chapter 1. There's a promise for those who don't believe. There's a promise for people who are in unbelief. What is a promise? [clears throat] But he must ask in faith without any 1:31:08 doubt. For the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For that man, which man? One who does not believe, unbelieving man, ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord. 1:31:25 So the promise for those who do not believe is they will receive nothing. Zero. Why is that victory? Why is that I don't have uh an encouraging word or why I'm always getting discouraged or condemning myself. Why there is no change or 1:31:43 transformation is somewhere I'm not asking for the power of the Holy Spirit desperately and I'm not asking with faith that's reason I'm not getting anything that really k spoke to me and encourage me Lord I don't want to be in 1:31:56 unbelief I don't want to be in doubt I want to come to your presence as it says that if your word says I will receive it amen lord you have told that sin shall not be master over me yes Lord I believe your scriptures I believe you will do it 1:32:11 for me. And there's a verse in Matthew 13:58. It says Jesus did not did not do many miracles because because of their unbelief. He wanted to do many miracles in their life, but he couldn't do because the people there were with unbelief and 1:32:27 doubting. They were double-minded. Let it not be said about us, brothers and sisters. Let's boldly come to the throne of grace believing that whatever the lord has promised in his scriptures that it will be fulfilled in my life. We 1:32:41 heard that we need not uh live in condemnation. We can put our flesh to death. We can be more than conquerors. All these things are possible only for those who believe. If I don't believe, I can just hear and I can go from here 1:32:55 that I had a wonderful uh I heard a wonderful message but there will be no change in our lives. If I really don't seek for the power of the Holy Spirit desperately and if I don't go to God with faith and hope Lord you have 1:33:07 promised in your scriptures. I believe Lord Jesus I want to really claim that in faith that you will do it do it for me. Then brothers and sisters, it will be said about us that all things were possible in this person's life because 1:33:23 he or she believed in the word of God. May the Holy Spirit help us to live this word. Amen. Uh brothers and sisters, we'll have the 1:33:58 book of the month and then the announcements. Presenting [music] the book of this month, Encouragement for Mothers by Dr. 1:34:16 Annie Zack [music] Punan. When we think of the mundane [music] things we do as wives and mothers, we may say, "I'm just changing the diapers, or [music] I'm just cleaning the house, 1:34:34 or I'm just cooking and washing the dishes." But [music] God is building his holy temple within us through all this. [snorts] It is a [music] wonderful work that God is doing within us. Not only [music] are 1:34:52 we bringing up our children for him with his help, but he is also building his [music] temple within us at the same time. Our home life and our family [music] life are being built for the glory of Jesus Christ and we [music] can 1:35:09 present our children to him so that they can experience the same glorious work in their lives as well. [music] Our family will then be a beautiful temple for the glory of God and our children [music] will be a part of that. 1:35:27 May this book encourage and help mothers to bring up their [music] children in God's ways.
