0:00 Before we ask brother Santos to come back up, I wanted to welcome you all back and just to encourage us to come hungry and needy. That first song, Fill My Cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord. And one thing 0:18 I'm so thankful for the Lord is that he doesn't have some very high requirement on anyone to come to him except that we come needy and hungry. He doesn't require a certain level of education, experience, talent, all those things. He 0:35 just says if you come to me in your need and your hunger, I will fill you. And that's something the littlest child can come with that attitude. teenager, middle-aged, old, whatever age you are, whatever we've been through, at any day 0:50 we come back to the Lord. We can come hungry and needy. And as he was sharing earlier about Mary a little bit, it really stood out to me, Mary is a great example of someone who the Holy Spirit came upon and her life was changed and Jesus was the result 1:09 because of Jesus. And I thought about why did Jesus or why did God the father in heaven? Why did he pick Mary? There's a bunch of virgins in Israel at that time. We know Jesus had to come through the line of David and Judah, all that. There's a lot 1:25 of girls that would have checked that box. But why did he pick Mary? And one thing I we see in Luke 1 when Mary's just overwhelmed with thanksgiving 1346 Mary says, "My soul exalts in the Lord and my spirit has rejoiced in God my 1:44 savior for he has had regard for the humble state of his bond slave." Who's she talking about? She's talking about herself. She says, "I'm just a humble bond slave." She had no high thoughts of herself. You know, it's challenging what 2:00 we heard earlier about in Philippians 2 to think of everyone else as more important than ourselves. And when we walk in the door, is that our attitude? And that was a challenge. But I bet you if Mary was to walk in that door, she 2:13 would have had that attitude. She would come in here not looking for attention. She would think, I'm everyone else in here is more important than me. I just came in to hear the word of God. And I see later in verse 53, this is what Mary 2:27 says that God has filled the hungry with good things. Why does she say that? Why is she talking about this? She's talking about herself. I believe she is hungry for God. All these her whole life, these days leading up to God choosing her and 2:43 telling her through the angel what was going to happen, that Jesus was going to come through her and change the world. She was hungry. She's exclaiming, "God has filled the hungry with good things. I was hungry for God and he met my need. 2:57 And he will do that for each one of us tonight if we're hungry. And I know we've had some good food for lunch. We're going to have more later for supper." And if I went around the room and I looked in your eyes, I wouldn't be 3:08 able to tell. Are you hungry? I can't tell. But God sees. God sees who's hungry here. And God sees who are the ones who are needy here. And one thing I think I I don't have a verse for this, but I believe this and I've seen it true that 3:24 if we come in here and we say, 'Lord, I am the neediest person here. I don't know about anybody else. I'm not looking at anybody else around me. I don't Maybe they're they got it together. Maybe they're a mess. I don't know. I don't 3:33 care. But I am the neediest person in this room. If we come with that attitude, how can God pass you up? If you come and [clears throat] that's your the cry of your heart, God, you fill the hungry with good things. You send away 3:45 the rich empty-handed. If we come in here, we think we're fine, we just want some information, we just want to have a good time, that's all fine, but we might go away empty-handed. But if we come hungry and needy, Lord, I am the 3:55 neediest person here. You have to, you cannot let me leave the same way I came in here. He's not going to pass that up. He will not. He is faithful. He says, "Open your w mouth wide and I will fill it." And let us let us go to the Lord in 4:07 prayer before we ask brother Santos to come and let's come with that need and that hunger. And if you're not hungry, if you're not needy, ask him to make you that. And he will. He'll do it. So let's pray. Father, thank you that you fill 4:20 the hungry and the needy with good things. And blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. It is a promise. It is as true as any other verse in the Bible. It is your promise. It is your word that 4:32 you will fill the hungry and you will satisfy the hungry and the needy. Lord, do it tonight. Lord, help us. Bless brother Santos. Give him the word that you want us each to hear. Lord, help us in Jesus name. Amen. All right, Santosh. 5:06 I often like to read some of the stories of the revivals through church history that influenced the world around them. Men like Evan Roberts in the Welsh Revival, [clears throat] 5:25 Charles Finny here in the Midwest in the United States, Titus Cohen in Hawaii, many many others like that. Um, when I read the stories of those revivals, one of the things I see is that there 5:44 was more prayer than preaching. Much more prayer than preaching. Often God would there was preaching. There was teaching of God's word, but then that preaching would just come and cut open 6:02 as it were and allow people to see for themselves who they really are on the inside from God's perspective. Like an X-ray machine that shows you, man, there's something in there that you 6:20 can't see from the outside. or even like we just heard looking around. I don't know who's really thirsty. Who's here just sort of like, "Yeah, Lord, it'd be nice if I get something from you today, but if not, I'll still 6:38 have a job tomorrow or Monday." Who's really thirsty here? Only the X-ray machine of God's word can show that. [clears throat] But the revival were those that times of preaching. Those times of preaching were 6:55 followed by times of prayer. And we're not going to necessarily try to artificially reproduce that. Okay, let's have a prayer meeting after. Let's hold off dinner and have a prayer meeting. If the Lord moves us to do it, sure. But 7:13 I'm not trying to copy anything. But those were spontaneous responses where people didn't want to leave because they had met with God. The convicting preaching of the word of God had cut them open so much that they they like I could care less about food. 7:32 There's a a need in my soul that no amount of the best food or drink is ever going to satisfy. And it's a mystery how God moves in revival. And uh I don't want to make more of revivals than needs to be made. 7:50 In fact, if we're a church that's constantly in need of revival, there's something wrong that if you if God revived you, brought you back from death and woke you up, sleeper, and then a week later you fell back 8:09 asleep and he had to wake you up again through a revival. And then a month later he had you needed another revival and then a year later you need another revival. There's something wrong. God's will is not that we get revived 8:22 and fall back into death and slumber. God Yes. But if there needs to be that revival wakeup call, let it be. But then God wants us to press on and grow. Paul didn't need to be constantly revived. Oh, sorry. I forgot I was 8:40 living a Christian life. That wasn't Paul's life. He was going from faith to faith, from glory to glory every day, being transformed a little bit more into the image of Jesus. But if you've been asleep, if any of us have been asleep, 8:58 then we need a revival. And I pray that through the teaching and through the preaching, not my words, but the words of God, that our response will be one of falling on our face. Maybe you'll still eat your dinner, but you'll 9:14 go home and you can't sleep and you'll weep on your pillow and you'll cry out to God. Most of the times when God has filled me with the Holy Spirit, most of the times have come when I've been alone. I'm not against prayer meetings for the 9:31 baptism of the Holy Spirit. That's good. But I found that that's just the initial work, the springboard as it were, the teaser. It's good that we can collectively pray at times. But then that thrusts me to go alone before God because you cannot be 9:47 filled with the Holy Spirit unless you're willing to build an altar and put everything on it. And I find that I can't really do that when you're all around me. I'm still a little bit affected by the fact that you're here. 10:00 And then it's when I go alone on my bed and my pillow and I weep and say, "Lord, what is it that I haven't given you yet that's holding you back from being able to send the power that I hear other people have? I see your hand and I see 10:14 your power and anointing in somebody else. And I want that. I see the way Paul lived. I see the way Jesus lived. And I want that life." And you cannot receive the power of the Holy Spirit unless you have laid everything on the altar. It's also why 10:31 we don't do altar calls like many churches do because I really mean find that that initial stirring emotionally can sometimes lead to a false experience, a constant revival which is an emotional 10:48 experience. But I pray, dear brothers, dear sisters, dear young people, dear children, I pray that the Lord will touch you in some way tonight that you won't forget it. And when you go home, if you're in a hotel room or in your own 11:04 home room or staying with a family, that at some point you want to just you're itching to go to your bedroom and be in private, even if there are others in that room, but in secret you're weeping before the Lord and saying, "Lord, I 11:18 want an experience with you. I want boldness. I want power. I want victory. I want peace in every circumstance. I want freedom from anxiety. I want purity. I want you to have control over my tongue. Lord, help me. I want forgiveness towards whoever it is 11:37 you want me to forgive. The Lord will do that. Amen. John chapter 15. Can we turn there, please? 11:59 So the theme of our conference is only God's work done God's way will remain. And we saw in Romans chap 11 that that gold and silver and precious stones which is God's work done God's way [snorts] will remain. That is the life 12:18 of everything that is done from God through God and to God for his glory. And today I thought I would speak this evening I thought I would speak about what it means to do everything through God. That is by the power of his Holy 12:33 Spirit. And in John chapter 15, we read here Jesus says in verse 4, John 15:E4, "Abide in me and I in you. 12:52 As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, he 13:11 bears much fruit. But apart from me, apart from me, you can do zero. Nothing. Apart from me, you are useless. Apart 13:29 from me, you are good for nothing. What that really means is now what does that mean? Can we do anything apart from God? Yeah, the world does it. People make billions of dollars apart from Christ. People preach all kinds of sermons and 13:48 have all kinds of ministry in the name of Jesus apart from Christ. So there's a lot of things that are being done apart from Christ. Now I'm not here to judge and say who's what. But it's possible to do a lot of things on this 14:05 earth. God has allowed it that way. But we know that they're apart from him because you as I said worldly people live successful lives and even maybe have marriages that last for some period of time and they seem to be happy and 14:20 they the money can solve all their earthly problems seemingly. And some can even do ministry apart from Christ. How do we know that it's apart from Christ? cuz you find out that man who's up there preaching and drawing people has been living in adultery 14:39 secretly and divorces his wife and marries somebody else and then they live together and then they get divorced and marry somebody else but oh preaching was great and the ministry was great thousands flock to listen to this man apart from 14:56 Christ but it's nothing why is it nothing because God views everything from the perspective of what is it going to be like on the other side of that furnace that I talked about yesterday for God the the what what how what he 15:15 values when he says it's nothing he's not saying it's nothing right now it might seem like something right now but he looks at it as what is it going to be like on the other side of that furnace right now if it's a huge huge pile 15:33 But on the other side of that furnace, it's zero. It all burns up. Then it's nothing. It's zero. And if what you have is a small little thing, but it's gold, it's silver, it's precious stones, it will make it through the fire, then that is something. Apart 15:52 from me, you can do nothing. Which means if you have been doing anything apart from Christ, if anything you've been doing is not coming from the power of the Holy Spirit, if all that evangelism that you're doing and reaching out to 16:05 the to the lost and all that tracked sharing and uh wearing uh your you know posting about Christ and all of that, if it's not done by the power of the Holy Spirit, it's going to burn up. It's apart from Christ. He wasn't the one that empowered you to 16:22 do it. If Christ wasn't the one that helped you to share that word or to help lead their singing or serve in the church, it's worth zero. I hope we really believe that everything 16:38 that I do that is apart from Christ without his power is a waste. It's a complete waste. So, we must seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I've often wondered if we have 16:56 examined our motives for wanting to be filled with the Holy Spirit perhaps. And you think about that for a moment. The question that I just asked. Why? Why do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Is it because you feel 17:11 like well I want to be able to say somebody asked me are you spiritfilled brother? Are you spiritfilled sister? Yes, I had this experience. I speak in tongues. or I I had that moment when I sense God's power over me. I want to be 17:23 able to check the box. Why do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Is it What is the motive there? [snorts] I'll give you a little testimony. When I was 19 years old, I was in a church where 17:42 there was a a moving a stirring. I don't know exactly what it was, but there was a stirring in the church. And there were a lot of meetings and prayer meetings. And around that time, I was I was relatively new to this country. I'd only 17:57 been here a year or so. And I I had a a longing again. I was defeated in many areas in my life. And I wanted victory. And uh deep down there was a longing. And I saw some of my peers in the church that I was attending at that time 18:13 seemingly being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. And there were lots of long prayer meetings late into the night. And and there was I saw that and I thought, well, that's what I'm lacking. Maybe that's what I 18:27 need. And I cried out and I said, Lord, I want you to fill me with the Holy Spirit. And I prayed and prayed and prayed. And at one point after a at a conference similar to this where we were at, I was back on my bed crying and 18:41 praying out, praying to the Lord and I just received faith that he was going to fill me with the Holy Spirit. And I think he did. I don't don't try to overanalyze what happened that night uh as I was falling asleep. I I woke up in 18:56 the morning just believing that he had filled me with the Holy Spirit and I sensed faith in my heart and an assurance of some sort. Before that, I had a thirst. I wanted to be filled and I wanted to be filled and I and the moment I felt like I had 19:11 something of an experience, I lost that thirst. And as I look back, perhaps I felt like I've checked the box. Yep. Oh, born again, baptized in water, baptized in the Holy Spirit. Okay. checked it. Now what's next? Something 19:27 else. Ministry. And soon after that, my spiritual condition actually got worse than before. And today I realized that the true mark of being filled with the Holy Spirit is this. You will your thirst will increase. 19:47 You'll want more. It's like this. I use this. I use a very trivial earthly analogy for that. I love mango ice cream. If I come to you with a teaspoon, if I hear that you have mango ice cream and I have all I have is a little teaspoon, 20:03 I'll say, "Hey, I I heard you've got some mango ice cream there. Can I have a little bit?" It's all I've got is a teaspoon, but I would love a teaspoon of mango ice cream. And once I taste that mango ice cream, there's a Everything 20:15 within me is like is going to want to find something bigger. I'm going to find a tablespoon and say, "Hey, I heard you've got some more." And I'll after I fill that tablespoon, I'll go and find a little teacup and I'll bring that teacup here. Can you 20:33 fill my teacup full of mango ice? That's a lot of mango ice cream. And then when I eat eat all of that, I'll come back with a a coffee mug of and say, "Can you fill my coffee mug?" And you fill that up. I'll I'll eat all of it. I'll come 20:45 back because I've tasted of it. And for me, again, I don't want to overanalyze what that experience was like when I was 19 years old, but I lost the thirst. And I knew that I hadn't I wasn't I was seeking for the baptism of the Holy Spirit for some 21:01 other reason, for some checkbox. I I I received perhaps I received it, BUT I DIDN'T ACTUALLY TASTE and see that the Lord is good. And I invite you, dear family, today to ask for God to receive to to give you a filling of the Holy 21:17 Spirit that allows you to taste and see who Jesus really is. And you taste and see and your eyes are opened a little bit to see the glory and his majesty and his purity and holiness as a as as the most amazing thing as opposed to a burden and obedience as a 21:36 joy. You taste a little bit more of that and you say, "Lord, I I know you fill me today, but I'm going to come back to you tomorrow with a bigger vessel because I want I've tasted and seen that you're good." So, what what is it that you're looking 21:53 for when you seek for the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Let's turn to Ezekiel chapter 36. Ezekiel 36, we'll read in verse 26. 22:16 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you and cause you within you. and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you and 22:35 cause you to walk in my statutes and you will be careful to observe my ordinances. You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers so that you will be my people and I will be your God. See, this is why God wants to give us the Holy 22:53 Spirit. He wants that connection, that living active connection between me here on this earth and him in heaven, a spiritual connection. So when he can put his spirit within me here within like he promised he would, he can take out the heart of stone and 23:12 give me a heart of flesh. Give me a heart in which he can put his spirit. Now that connection is established. And when that connection can grow and increase until I am made fully into the image of Christ, that's what he has 23:27 promised for. That's why he has promised us the Holy Spirit. So that's the there we see I will I'll put my spirit within you. I will give you my spirit. But I want you to go back and see the context here. Why is it that 23:41 God wants to fill us with the Holy Spirit? We've said it often. God is more eager to fill you with the Holy Spirit than you are eager to receive him. But why? Why is why why does God want to fill you with the Holy Spirit? Why does 23:54 he look at you and say, "Santo, I want to fill you with my Holy Spirit. Oh, that you would seek for it. I'm longing to fill you. WHY, LORD, WHY WHY IS THIS such a big deal for you?" Let's read in verse 20. Ezekiel 36:20. When they came 24:10 to the nations where they went, they profained my holy name. When I put them there in Texas, when I placed them there in Colorado, they profained my holy name. They took my name. They call themselves Christians. They call themselves CFC. But the way 24:28 they lived their lives was a disgrace to me. When I saw how they lusted with their eyes, when I saw how they spoke to each other in their homes, when I saw how they treated each other in the in the church, when I when I saw how they 24:41 back bite back bit against each other and slandered or how they loved money, THEY PROFANEED MY NAME. I wish they hadn't called themselves Christians at all. But you took my name. You called yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ. 24:59 And then you lived that way. Now what does he do when he sees that? Oh, you call yourself a Christian and you call yourself a CFC Christian, a disciple of Jesus, and yet you live that way. What should God do? He would ever 25:13 have a right to say, get out of my face. Get out of my presence. Don't you ever dare take my name and live like that. But he does something greater. He says, "I know you're incapable of doing it. That's why I want to fill you with my 25:27 Holy Spirit. I see you profaining my name. I see how you are here. Yeah, it looks great. But I see also how you are when you're with your friends. I see how you are when the lights are off and the door is closed and you're in front of 25:38 your computer. I see how you are when you're at home sitting at the dining table and the conversations there and I'm embarrassed. My name is profained by your lives. I want to fill you with the Holy Spirit so that you don't profane my name anymore. 25:55 Is that why you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit? That's why I want to be filled. I look at my life. I looked at my life. I remember when the Lord spoke to me through this passage and I want I just wanted to hide in a corner and say, 26:07 "Lord, I'm I'm so sorry for how I'm living my life." Now, I'm not going out and living a debaucherous life and, you know, doing all kinds of worldly, sinful things like that. But I know my thoughts. I know my attitudes. I know my 26:22 motives. I see how hard it is to forgive others and be merciful to others. I see how far I am from Christ. And yet I take his name and I say that I am part of the body of Christ. And when the head is so pure and so full of the goodness of God 26:36 and I am so far from it, I say, "Lord, I'm profaining your name." And he says, "Sontosh, I'm not going to cast you away. I want to fill you with my Holy Spirit so that you won't profane my name anymore." They went they profained my holy name 26:56 because it was said of them these are the people of the Lord. These are Christians. They go to Austin CFC. THEY GO TO RLCF. These are these are the people who think that they are the advanced Christians and look at how they live their lives. 27:15 It was said of them these are the people of the Lord. But verse 21, not that he felt sorry for us. That came later before that he said I had concern for my holy name. This is what God is most interested in is his holy name. He has a standard of his holy 27:35 name to uphold. And he said later, I I will come and I I I'LL DWELL INSIDE YOU. This holy name I am this holiness of God. I hope I can I I I can never do it justice to uphold the holiness of God what it really is. And he says that 27:53 holiness that is so precious and it it can't and nothing it's it's like the sun. Nothing can ever get so close to it because it's such blazing light and heat. That's the holiness of God. And he says, "I'm going to take that and put it 28:05 inside of you, my Holy Spirit. And unless I cleanse you, unless I show you why it is I want to do that, it'll it'll destroy you. It's like saying, "I'm going to take the sun and put it inside of you." I say, "Lord, hold on. 28:21 Before you do that, is this going to destroy me?" It would. If I try to go near the sun, if I get even a little bit close to it, I'm going to be burned up in a moment. And the holiness of God is so much purer and so much more blazing 28:35 light and fire than that. And he says, "I'm going to put my Holy Spirit inside you because I had concern. I had concern for my holy name 28:52 which the house of Israel had profained, which the people who call themselves Christians living wherever you live had profained among the nations where they went." Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus says the Lord God, it's not for 29:08 your sake, oh Israel, oh house of Israel, that I'm about to act. See, this is from God, through God, and to God. Yes, God knows that you need power through the Holy Spirit. But the main reason he wants to fill us with the Holy 29:23 Spirit is because he wants us to bear his name with honor. When we call ourselves Christians and we call ourselves the part of the body of Christ, he wants to see that there is a consistency between the holiness in the head and the holiness in his body. 29:38 Concern for his holy name. It's like a husband who's seeing his wife just flirt around with other people and be friendly with this person and text that person and flirt with this person, all that. And he says, "You're calling yourself my 29:52 wife and you're acting like that. But for my holy name which you have profained among the nations where you went, I will vindicate, I will act with vengeance. I will make 30:11 right the holiness of my great name which has been profained among the nations which you have profained in their midst. In that workplace where you used to be a part of all their conversations and their jokes and their memes and in the at the home at the 30:28 dining table where you used to have all those conversations and gossiping about others in the church and in in in secret on your phone or on the computer where you used to do all those filthy things and all those thoughts that are in your 30:40 mind and in your heart and your attitudes and your motives and I'm going to I'm going to examine that and all those areas where you have profained my name. I'm going to vindicate it. I'm going to set it right. Then the nations will know that I am the 30:57 Lord, declares the Lord God, when I prove myself holy among you in their sight. How will the world know? How are we going to evangelize the the world around us, brothers, sisters? How are we going to evangelize? How are they going 31:10 to know that Jesus is the true God? Is it by convincing them, pre presenting some argument and saying, "Well, this and that and historically that and apologetics this and all that." No. I used to profane in the name of Jesus 31:22 when I was in your midst and I used to laugh at your filthy jokes, but now God has filled me with the Holy Spirit and I'm on fire for him. AND THEY'LL SEE THAT and say, "Wow, this is a holy God. He is the true God." The nations will know that I am the Lord 31:39 when I prove myself holy among you in their sight. When they see that this is the old, this is not the old Santo. Something's different. And you say, what happened? God fill me with the Holy Spirit. Not, oh, I speak in tongues now 31:53 or anything like that. I ask you brothers, sisters, I know you're you want you hear about the Holy Spirit, but this is the essence of the burden on my heart this evening is why do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Are you 32:05 tired of being a a timid, shy, failing witness for Jesus Christ among your friends and co-workers and classmates and embarrassed when they find out that you're a Christian? Are you tired of that and say, "Lord, I want to be a bold 32:18 witness for you like all the apostles were when they were filled with the Holy Spirit. I'm tired of being like timid Peter who when the little servant girl asked him, "Do you know Jesus?" he cursed and swore and said, "No, I'm not 32:28 one of them." But then you filled him with the Holy Spirit and he stood up there and he was willing to be beaten and crucified like he was one day for the sake of this Jesus. What a different man he was when he was filled with the 32:40 Holy Spirit. And I say, "Lord, I want you to prove yourself holy in my neighborhood. I want you to prove yourself holy in my workplace. I want you to prove yourself holy among my children, among my relatives. I want you 32:57 to prove yourself prove that you're a holy God." You know, the world is tired of hearing about Christians who speak about the Holy Spirit and realize they're just as lustful as every one of us. I hear that they he's been cheating 33:08 on his wife and this and that. They love money. I see how they all they want to talk about is the next jet that they want to buy and this car and and live in grand style and the shoes they've got and the uh all those other things. 33:22 And then along comes somebody who says, "This is the true Jesus I serve. I used to profane his name in your midst, but not anymore. Lord, prove yourself holy in the circles in which you place me. Because he says, verse 24, "I will take 33:37 you from the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. And 33:49 then I will fill you with the Holy Spirit." Is this why you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit? I hope it is. and the Lord will indeed. Let's turn to Matthew chapter 1. 34:19 Under the old covenant, the the command that we were given was you shall not you shall not you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not murder, you shall not have any graven images. Uh you need to do this, 34:36 you must do that, you must do the other thing. Under the new covenant, it changes. You will not. Not you must not, but you will not. What's the difference? God will do something within you. He will change you from the inside where instead of you 34:55 remaining unchanged on the inside still with that selfish stony heart trying not to. Oh, I must not. Oh, I I want to but try not to. He says you will not. I will change your heart from within. 35:12 Matthew 1 verse 21. This is the first promise of the new covenant of the new covenant. You will call his name Jesus. Jesus is the baptizer in the Holy Spirit. And when he baptizes us, he baptizes us into the spirit of Jesus. 35:26 It's the spirit of Jesus. What spirit is that? The spirit, his name is Jesus because he will save his people from their sin. Remember this, that the mark that you are filled with the Holy Spirit is that you will increasingly be saved from sin. 35:43 Not just forgiven. Not the same old cycle of oops, I did it again, I guess. Lord, thank you for your blood. Thank you for the blood. Thank you for the blood. No. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that doesn't just forgive me, but 35:53 cleanse that saves me completely where a year from now, I'm not still defeated by the same old sins that I was before. This is the promise. You shall call his name Jesus. It's the spirit of Jesus that we are baptized into. He is the baptizer of the Holy 36:09 Spirit. Matthew 3:1, he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire into what spirit? The spirit of Jesus. He It is the spirit of Jesus. And when we're baptized into that spirit, we experience the spirit of he will save 36:25 his people from their sins. That's what the name Jesus means. So when we say that we're baptized in the spirit of Jesus, it's the spirit of being saved from sin. Romans chapter 6, you know this verse as well. It's also called the spirit of 36:39 grace. Romans chapter 6. So remember this. Under the old covenant it was you shall not. Under the new covenant it is you will not. Why? You can read that in Hebrews chapter 10 as 36:56 well. I will put my spirit within you. I will. I maybe we can look at that verse here shortly. Romans 6:14. Sin shall not be master over you because you have because you're under grace. You have the spirit of grace within you. Sin 37:14 shall not be master over you. For you are not under law but under grace. When you receive the spirit of grace under the old covenant they they couldn't be filled with the Holy Spirit on the inside. And so they were under 37:26 law. It was you must not you better not you shall not. If you do you will be punished. But God takes that away as it were and replaces it with a new covenant that says you won't. I will change your heart within you. I will remove your idols and 37:44 your desire for those things and give you a new spirit within you where you will delight in holiness. Where where it used to be that you delighted in all those sinful things, you will delight in pleasing me. Hebrews chapter 8. 38:03 You've read the old covenant. Exodus chapter 20. Thou shalt not. Thou shalt not. Thou shalt. Thou shalt. Thou shalt not. Thou shalt not. Thou shalt not. Thou shalt not. The ten commandments. And then he says, I'm going to put a new covenant within 38:18 you. Hebrews chapter 8 verse 7. For if that first covenant of thou shalt not and thou shalt had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. For finding fault with them, with the all the old thou shalts and thou shalt 38:36 not. He says, "Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, when I will effect a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand 38:51 to lead them out of the land of Egypt, for they did not continue in my covenant." They could not. It was it was there to show you you, no matter how much you try, at one point you're going to fail. You may be able to hold on for a while, but the time's 39:05 going to come when you're going to fail. He says, "That's why I gave you a new covenant. They did not continue in my covenant, and I did not care for them, says the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after 39:20 those days, says the Lord. I will put my laws into their heart minds and I will write them on their hearts and I will be their God and they shall be my people and they shall not teach everyone 39:38 his fellow citizen and everyone his brother saying know the Lord for all will know me from the least. Whoever was the youngest one here from the least. Think about that. every one of us from the youngest to the oldest, from the least to the greatest 39:53 of them. I will be merciful to them to their iniquities and I will remember their sins no more. What a wonderful promise we have there. Um in Luke chapter 11, I read this already, 40:13 but I want to speak also briefly on the importance of asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Keep a finger in Luke 11 and I'll just 40:28 briefly show you in Matthew chapter 7 up to Matthew chapter 6. Jesus was showing us the contrast between the old covenant and the new covenant in detail. 40:46 You have heard it said, "Thou shalt not commit adultery." But I say to you, you shall not lust. You have heard it said, "Do not commit murder." But I say to you, if you're angry, you have heard it said that you must give 10%. But I say 40:59 to you, give uh you have heard it said, "Pray." And he talked about the Pharisees who prayed long prayers. But he says, "No, when you pray, go in secret." So he's contrasting the old covenant with the new covenant. And then 41:14 when that's all the way up to chapter 7:6. And then he says, "Here's how you're going to receive this life." We saw that the old covenant was you shall not, you shall, you shall not. Don't don't do that. I'm watching you. Don't do it. And 41:29 the new covenant says you won't do it. Why? Because I will put my spirit within you. That spirit that wants to do the right thing, I will do that. But look at what he says. Is it just going to happen? I just sit here and say, "Lord, 41:41 you said you would do it." At the end of this, he says, "There's one thing you do need to do." He says, "Yes, I will do it. I will do the obeying in you. I will fulfill that in you, but you must do something first. You must ask." 41:56 After all of these commands, he's in in Matthew 6:25, he talks about being freed from anxiety. Do you find that an anxiety and worry is plaguing your life and you want to be freed from that where you're never anxious even for a moment? 42:11 Say, "Well, Lord, you said you would do it. You would make me not anxious." He says, "I WANTED YOU TO ASK THOUGH." SO, when you get to all of these things that he has promised us, he says, "This is the life you must live. You thought it 42:21 was this. It's actually this. So now, what should I do? Should I try?" He says, "No, don't try. Ask. Ask." Matthew 7:7. and I will it will be given to you. This life of not lusting, this life of not being angry, this life 42:38 of not being anxious, this life of secret prayer, this life of not judging others, this life of all the things that he mentions there earlier, being merciful to others, this life of telling the truth in every situation. Ask and IT WILL BE GIVEN TO 42:54 YOU. Seek and you will find. He doesn't say try. He he raised the bar and then he doesn't say don't try to jump higher just ask and I will give you this life seek and you will find it 43:11 knock and it will be open to you now we see the parallel passage in Luke 11 he makes it clear what are we supposed to ask and say ask for what Lord give me this life what does that actually mean what should I ask for 43:31 Luke 11:9 I say to you ask and actually the literal word there is keep asking. So I say to you keep asking and it will be given to you. Well Lord I asked 10 years ago. Isn't that enough? I asked when I came to you. I received the Holy 43:47 Spirit when I was born again. He says keep asking. Keep seeking and you will find. Well Lord I sought. I asked for the baptism of the Holy Spirit 10 years ago. I think I got something. You didn't find it because you weren't 44:03 still seeking. Like I said, in my case, in that example, I checked the box and I went away thinking I got it. I didn't keep seeking and I didn't find him who I wanted to find, the Holy Spirit. Knock. Keep on knocking and it will be 44:19 open to you. Well, Lord, I knocked a couple times. I knocked last year at the weekend of fellowship. I didn't get anything. And then I knocked a few more times. I sort of gave up. No, he says, "I wanted you to KEEP KNOCKING 44:32 AND THE DOOR WOULD have been opened." I remember seeing a cartoon once of it says that the the 120 were there in the upper room for 10 days. Now imagine if there were 121 of them and one of them said after 9 days, "Man, we've been here 44:50 for 9 days. I think we we missed it somehow. That's we I'm done. I'm I'm I'm going back. I'm going to do something else. We've been here for nine days. Nothing happened. And on the 10th day, the Holy Spirit came. I read the story. I mentioned the Welsh 45:07 revival. Evan Roberts. Um he was a young man. You know, it's really fascinating. He was about 13 years old when Lord the Lord put a burden on his heart to pray. He heard one of the elders in his church say, 45:24 "What if you were um missing? What if you were there?" Think about Thomas. You know, there was a there was once when Thomas was not with the disciples. We're not told why. The other disciples were there, but Thomas was not there and 45:36 Jesus came. Now, thankfully, Jesus came again later when Thomas was there and he got to see. But what if the disciples said, "Hey, we're getting together." Thomas is like, "Hey, man, hold on. I got uh I got something else I need to be 45:48 doing. I got to I got I got to work. He said, "Let me skip this one. You guys go ahead and have your meeting." And Jesus comes to that meeting. And then Thomas, hear yours. And they're like, "We saw Jesus." You No, no, no, no. Really? 46:00 You're sure you're not dreaming? WE WERE THERE, MAN. WHAT DO YOU THINK THOMAS FELT? He's like, "Ah, man. That other thing that I skipped the meeting for, was it really worth it?" And this elder was telling Evan Roberts, 46:14 he's like, "You don't want to be like Thomas where in the meeting where the Holy Spirit shows up and stirs the church. You don't want to be missing in that meeting." Thankfully, God showed up again. But there's a lesson there. There may be a 46:29 time when the Holy Spirit comes and moves among among God's people, and you thought, "Well, I'm a little I've got a little bit of a headache. I think I'll stay home. I'll skip this one. I'll come next Sunday. And so Evan Roberts, 13-year-old little 46:43 boy, took it to heart and he decided from that time he would never miss a prayer meeting. He showed up for everyone. 13 years old. And he writes that he would on the way to the meeting he would walk by people on their fishing boats out on the pier 46:57 fishing. Today it would be the soccer field or something else that people like to do. And he was tempted. He's like, "Uh, I've been going to this meeting every week faithfully and still no sign, but man, that looks good. I could be out 47:13 there fishing with my friends." No, he said, "I'm going to go." 13-year-old boy. And he did that for 13 years. And when he was 26 years old, the revival fell. The Holy Spirit, fire of the Holy Spirit came. And that Welsh 47:30 revival that God used Evan Roberts for at the age of 26 transformed the community. We still read about people to this day whose lives were touched with the Welsh revival. What would have happened if if Evan Roberts and And 47:43 perhaps we'll find out in eternity stories of other 13-year-old boys in Evan Roberts church who after a year or so they're like, "Yeah, I'm I I gave up asking." 13 years he prayed and one day the revival fell. Now we're 48:02 not here to copy that. I don't know how God will move in our lives. But brothers, what we're told is to ask and keep on asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. And the promise of God is the door will be opened. You will find. It 48:15 will be given to you. Let's continue reading. Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish. He will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Matthew uh Luke 11:1. Or if he asks for an egg, he will not 48:30 give him a scorpion, will he? If you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit? That's where we see what was what were we told to ask for the Holy Spirit to 48:50 those who ask him. Who did he say this to? To people who had not received the Holy Spirit? To people who were not his disciples? Read verse one. It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place after he had finished, one of his 49:05 disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray." And so here are his disciples who forsaken everything to follow him. He says, "Listen, ask for the Holy Spirit, you disciples." Let's turn to Acts chapter 1. 49:27 Acts chapter 1. A lot of a lot of times people ask me, "What is the what is the assurance that I've been filled with the Holy Spirit? How can I know that I've genuinely been filled with the Holy Spirit?" We're never told. There are people that 49:42 Christian denominations that teach that the mark that you're filled with the Holy Spirit is that you speak in tongues. It's not biblical at all. I think we know that already. We've heard that because in 1 Corinthians 12, Paul 49:53 makes it clear, not all speak in tonesues. So, not everybody speaks in tonesues. God gave the gift of tongues to the 120 that were gathered on the day of Pentecost. But since then, there have been men and women who've been filled 50:06 with the Holy Spirit. Some of whom spoke in tonesues, some of whom didn't. So, don't get talk taken up. Don't get caught up with ah I don't speak in tongues. What is the proof ultimately that you're filled with the Holy Spirit? 50:17 Acts chapter 1 verse 8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses. Power to be a witness for God wherever he takes us. You will 50:35 be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth. You will be my witness. You'll receive power. Now, there's two aspects to that power. What is the power to live as Jesus 50:50 lived? Another verse I'll show you in 2 Corinthians chapter 3. 2 Corinthians chapter 3. You'll know that the spirit of the Lord 51:08 is somewhere because there will be freedom. There will be liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:1 17. Now the Lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is you say Lord I want you to fill me with your holy spirit you'll say okay 51:22 I will how will I know Lord you will be set free those chains that held you down there will be freedom freedom from the opinions of people freedom from lusting with your eyes freedom from lack of control with your tongue freedom from bad moods freedom 51:37 from discouragement and self- condemnation freedom from anxiety where the spirit of the Lord is there's freedom and if the if there still a lack of freedom. If you're still chained in some way, brother, sister, young person, 51:52 child, is because the Holy Spirit is not there. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there's freedom. And if you find that there's a lack of freedom, there's there's anxiety, there's worry, there's jealousy, there's this or there's that, 52:04 there's a lack of love, there's a lack of joy, there's a lack of peace, he says, "Come and let me fill you with the Holy Spirit." The proof of that will be that there will be freedom. you will have power to be my witnesses. And 52:17 I I I'll give you a little bit of personal testimony. I I don't necessarily have scripture that backs this up. I see the principle in God's word. But my personal testimony is this. And so I add that as a disclaimer that 52:30 for some people that power and that evidence of the filling of the Holy Spirit is instantaneous. You know, you read in Acts chapter 2 that there appeared tongues as of fire over them. I don't know if the others saw the tongues over each other. Maybe 52:46 they do. I imagine that their eyes were closed and they were praying and and there were tongues above them. Now, the person writing it is Luke, who wasn't even there at the time. And so, he's recording what the Holy Spirit's 52:57 uh testimony and witness about that incident was. I can't imagine that they're all looking at each other while their eyes were open while they were praying and they're like, "Oh, there's a tongue of fire over you." Maybe, I don't 53:07 know. But I imagine that they're praying and they're seeking and they're crying and they're weeping before the Lord and they're praising him. Their eyes are closed. They're focused. And what they couldn't see necessarily was tongues of 53:19 fire over them. And they started to speak in tongues after that. But for me, the real proof that they received power that day because Jesus said, "You will receive power." What was the proof that they received power? It was actually 53:32 some minutes later, maybe even an hour later, I don't know, when there was a big commotion and the people outside were like, "What's going on?" And let's do turn to Acts chapter 2 verse 6. The crowd came together and 53:50 were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. They were amazed and there was all kinds of people there. And then verse 14, I don't know when this was. It wasn't instantaneous, but at some point later, we get to verse 14, 54:09 maybe a few minutes, maybe an hour later, I don't know, Peter takes his stand with the 11 and raised his voice and declared to them, "Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you that this is Jesus of 54:25 Nazareth." Verse 22, the same Peter speaking about the same Jesus who when the little servant girl asked him, "Hey, what about Jesus of Nazareth?" He's like, "I don't know who you're talking about." Cursed and swore. So what was the proof for Peter? Was it 54:41 the tongue? No, it was somehow Peter had the boldness to stand up and say, "Let me tell you about Jesus of Nazareth. 50 days ago, I didn't want to have anything to do with him. I ran from him and I was a coward and a little girl asked me 54:56 about him and I was ashamed of him. But something has changed within me. I've received the power within me to be a bold witness for him. And for me personally, the proof of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, in my life, has often come sometimes 55:12 even days or weeks later. I'll give you a few examples. The power to overcome sin, the power to live a victorious life. See, if if you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit right now and you receive power to live a victorious life, 55:28 whether you're defeated by lust or anger or the love of money or jealousy or anxiety and worry and all these things, you're not going to know it right now because you're not being tempted. And the proof of that power will come 55:41 tonight or next week when that temptation comes and all of a sudden you have a power that you didn't have before. You used to wake up in a bad mood when somebody did this or somebody did that. But now you don't. You find that you've 55:55 been freed from those bad moods. You've been freed from anxiety. You've been freed from worry. It could be a month from now. It could be 6 months from now. You'll start to pre speak God's word and there'll be an anointing in your word. 56:09 It may not be to preach a sermon but it could be the 30 seconds or 2 minute testimony that you give the prophetic word anointing over your tongues which may not be seen for 6 months or a year. So I say dear brothers, dear sisters, 56:24 dear young people and children, seek for the power of the Holy Spirit and the proof of that will come in time. It's good to ask God for an assurance that he's filled you with the Holy Spirit. But don't put God in the time 56:37 box and says, "Lord, I want you to prove it to me right now by giving me the gift of tongues." God doesn't have to give you that instantaneous proof. Let's turn to John chapter 7, the verse we read earlier this today. 57:00 John 7 verse 37. John 7:37. Now, he does say in verse 39, he's speaking about the Holy Spirit. This he spoke of the spirit which those who believed in him were to receive. And we read where they received it on Acts 57:18 chapter 2. In Acts chapter 2, verse 37. Now he says, I'm going to tell you about this Holy Spirit. For now, in the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, and here I see two conditions. I want to give you 57:30 three little steps to seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Please don't take this and put it into a little box and make a formula out of it and say, "Okay, I did the formula. Now, Lord, we cannot, you know, I I'll tell you one thing, 57:41 family, that the more I speak about the Holy Spirit, the more the more of a mystery it is." And there's no formula. I can't predict that if you do this, this, this, this, this, God will fill you with the Holy Spirit and such and such a time. And 57:55 it's a mystery. It is a mystery still to me because you can't put the Holy Spirit into a box and say, "Well, Lord, I did this and did that and did the other thing." Now, no, you can have faith, but say, "Lord, I'm just going to keep on in 58:07 faith and but these three conditions I see here, three actions. The first is thirst. If if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Let's make sure there's a real thirst." You know what's a mark of thirst? I used 58:24 my own example earlier as for my own life as an example of that. If I if if if uh if you say hey if I if I tell you hey I'm thirsty and you you ignore me and about 2 minutes later I said hey I'm thirsty and 58:41 you ignore me about 10 minutes later you say hey I'm thirsty you ignore me again and I'm finally like ah yeah okay and I stop asking that's a proof that I wasn't really thirsty here's what I've come to see is the mark of real thirst thirst 58:58 will Never stop asking until it is satisfied. And you say, "I've been praying for the Holy Spirit for a year." Well, why did you stop? I've been praying for the Holy Spirit for for 2 years and I gave up. That proved that 59:08 YOU WEREN'T REALLY THIRSTY. IF YOU WERE REALLY THIRSTY, you would say, "Stosh, I've been praying for 20 years and I'm still praying and I believe that God is going to fill me with the Holy Spirit." That's thirst. It's not thirst if you can get away 59:20 without it. If you can manage without it, when you say that you're filled with you want to be thirsty, filled with the Holy Spirit and then you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then after a while you're like, "Yeah, I 59:30 guess I I'm not going to get it." THEN YOU WEREN'T REALLY THIRSTY. THIS IS THIRST. I hope you'll use that definition of thirst and that self-examination of true thirst. Say, "Lord, give me this thirst. Show me how I can do absolutely nothing apart from 59:45 you. I'm wasting my time reading my Bible and coming to the meetings and praying and doing all this service in the church. I'M WASTING MY TIME IF IT'S NOT BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT and use that word to put a thirst within me 59:57 where I'm going to say, "Lord, I am not going to stop asking you until you fill me. And when you fill me, I'm going to come back for more." That thirst is going to grow because I've tasted and seen how good you are and I want more of 1:00:11 you and I want more of you. So, first of all, thirst. If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. And secondly, believe. He who believes in me, as the scripture said, from his belly will flow rivers of living water. Thirst and 1:00:28 faith. Really believing it. You've heard my dad say it. Faith, this faith is to believe that God is more eager to fill you with the Holy Spirit than you are eager to be filled. I know many of you are crying and seeking the Lord. Lord, I want to know 1:00:45 the questions say, "What does it really mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? How do I know that I've been filled? I I long for this life. It seems to be the answer. It seems to be that which I'm lacking." It is, brother, sister. It is 1:00:56 that that life that that difference maker. It is. You read the biographies of men who were truly filled with the Holy Spirit. See, read the story of Samuel Logan Bringing for, for example, who was an accomplished pastor here in North 1:01:11 America. And then when God filled him with the Holy Spirit, he said, "I'm going to go and shine boots." William Booth made him shine boots in the Salvation Army. And but he experienced his life was more meaningful after that. They found the 1:01:24 secret of being filled with the Holy Spirit. So thirst, thirst, such thirst that I don't care if you if Lord, if it takes 50 years, am I asking? You have to fill me with the Holy Spirit. And I definitely want to make sure that 1:01:37 I get to the end of my life having been filled with the Holy Spirit. Better than saying, "Well, I asked for 10 years and then gave up." And God was says, "Oh, you would just I was going to give him to you. I wanted to see that 1:01:48 you had real thirst." Like that man, like I said, who imagin imaginary the person who may have waited for 9 days to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then said, "Nah, I'm leaving." [sighs] But those who waited found him. They 1:02:04 waited on him and they waited on him and they found him. Thirst and faith. And the third thing, third action I would say is move forward in faith. The pro proof that you actually have faith is you move forward. So you say, "Well, I I 1:02:17 prayed and then I I believed. I think I believed." But what was the proof that you believed? You say, "Lord, I'm now going to move forward. I'm going to walk into this next day and and live out this life and believe that you'll fill me. 1:02:28 I'm going to step forward in faith believing that you're filling me and you filled me and you will continue to fill me. Thirst, faith, and action moving forward. Obedience. Obey God. Walk ahead into what it is that you have to do. 1:02:44 Tomorrow morning, we'll show up here again for the meeting and we'll have the day together. Monday morning, you'll probably have to go back to school or work or whatever. move forward in faith. But let it be from this life of 1:02:54 thirsting for the filling of the Holy Spirit, believing that God is going to fill you with the Holy Spirit and walking forward in faith. I believe he will do that. Ephesians chapter 5. I'll close with a couple more thoughts here on this. 1:03:11 I see that there are two things that we're asked to do continually. Ephesians chapter 5 verse 18. I already showed you how it says keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking for the Holy Spirit and and God will give him to you. Here we read in 1:03:31 Ephesians 5:18, be the last part of verse 18, be being filled with the spirit. Let that be the continuous state that you're in. Continually being filled, being filled, being filled. Who's he writing to? To one of the most spiritual 1:03:48 churches at that time, the church in Ephesus. A church that he had no criticism. It wasn't like the church in Corinth. He's like, "Hey, you guys are a bunch of carnal, greedy, uh, sexually defeated, perverted people. You need to be filled with the Holy 1:04:04 Spirit." No, you church in Ephesus. I've talked to you about how you're seated in heavenly places, and I've shown you all these wonderful truths. But to you, MATURE CHURCH, I SAY BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. be being filled with the Holy Spirit, 1:04:20 mature church that you are. So what I see here is that there's what what God is showing us this life of continually being filled with the Holy Spirit paired with what we read in Luke chapter 9. If you'll turn there with me, Luke 1:04:37 chapter 9, Luke 9 verse 23. Luke 9:23. If anyone wishes to come after me, if anyone wants to be my disciple, he must 1:04:54 deny himself and take up his cross continually. I took up my cross yesterday. Nope. You got to do it again today. I asked for the filling of the Holy Spirit yesterday. You got to ask for it today. So this twofold continual seeking. Fill me with your 1:05:13 Holy Spirit, Lord. I'm going to take up my cross. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Take up my cross. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. I take up my cross. That was the question I think that was asked earlier. And how how I see that that operates is 1:05:25 that when I seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit and like I said, I come with a little teaspoon and I and God fills me and I take that and and God says, "Well, are you satisfied with that?" I say, "No, Lord, I want more." He says, "Okay, I've got 1:05:39 to take that teaspoon and give you a greater capacity. I've got to break that teaspoon, as it were, and make it bigger." And how does he do that? By taking up our cross. When we take up when you take up your cross when we take 1:05:50 up our cross God breaks us breaks us and increases our capacity for it. Now I come with that tablespoon and then he say okay you came with a bigger vessel. I'm going to fill that. Then I take that. I say Lord but I want 1:06:04 more. I don't want just the tablespoon experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. I tasted and seen that is so good but I want more. He says you got to take up your cross. I got to break you. I got to take you through trials. I've 1:06:16 got to take you through circumstances that are against your will. You got to deny your will. You got to say no. You take up your cross. You come back. He says, "Lord, you've given me a teacup. Now fill me." He He says, "Okay, I'm 1:06:28 filling you. Go back." He says, "Now take up your cross again. I'm going to break that teacup and give you a a coffee mug." He says, "I'm going to fill you." Okay, I take up my cross. He breaks that and gives me a a vessel. He 1:06:41 fills that. I take up my cross. He breaks that and he gives me a bigger vessel. He gives me a a tub full. He gives me a swimming pool full, a pool full. And then he breaks that and gives me a pond full. Breaks that, gives me a 1:06:59 lake full, breaks that, gives me a river, breaks that, and gives me rivers of living water. Now sadly for most of Christendom that speaks about the baptism of the Holy Spirit you don't hear much teaching about the way of the cross 1:07:17 and that's why for many people it is a dry experience of yes some experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit maybe it was genuine I don't know but that that is that's never what God intended for us to be remain satisfied with that 1:07:31 little trickle his promise was rivers of living water and the only way we can go from the little trickle to the rivers of living water as if you're taking up your cross. And he's breaking that and giving you an increased capacity. 1:07:47 Take up your cross every day, brother, sister, young person, child. Take up your cross every day and seek to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit and you will find that from your innermost being that life of Christ 1:08:00 becomes rivers of living water. I'll close with this and somebody had asked about what does it mean to be baptized in the Holy Spirit versus filled in the Holy Spirit. I don't want to make it a technical discussion here, 1:08:13 but it's essentially the same thing. See, baptism just means immersion. Means you dip it into something and that's that's immersion. So, let's not use the word baptism. Let's just use the word immersion because we understand that 1:08:28 immersion. The first immersion that you read about is that in the Christian life is the immersion in water which is a burial of the old man. We all have an old man and when we are we come to Christ if anyone is in Christ he's a new creation. The 1:08:43 olds have passed away. 2 Corinthians 5 and Romans 6 talks about this old man was crucified with Christ. And now that I realize the reality of him being crucified and killed, I'm carrying around this dead body and now I got to 1:08:57 bury him. He was crucified with Christ. I realize that. Okay. Oh man, dead body. What are you doing? Time to bury the dead dead body. Okay, that's what bapt that immersion is. Immersion in water is the burial of the old man. And then when 1:09:13 I come up out of the water, I come up with newness of life. The life of Christ in me. I'm a new person, a new creature, new creation, Christ living in me. So that's immersion in water. Immersion in the Holy Spirit is exactly the same as 1:09:27 well. It's it's an immersion. But imagine that you you had a cup that an empty cup and you dip it into water. And when you dip it into that water, the moment it sinks below the surface of the water, the cup gets filled. That's immersion. Immersion that 1:09:46 fills the cup. Immersing that cup into the water so that it can be filled. That's what the immersion of the Holy Spirit is. It's the same as the filling of the Holy Spirit. Why does immersion in the Holy Spirit result in filling is because I've 1:10:00 got this cup. This whatever size capacity cup you've got it. And whatever size capacity you cup you have, if you put it in, it will be filled. But God doesn't want you to be satisfied with that. He wants you to have more. You say, "Lord, I I dipped 1:10:15 this little teaspoon in and you filled it. But I want more. I've tasted and seen over your goodness. I've seen what you've been able to do with a little bit of the Holy Spirit. I receive from you. Now Lord, I want more. I see how you've 1:10:27 transformed my tongue and I can speak with more authority now and I can speak with more kindness now. Now Lord, I want you to expand that. He says, "Go take up your cross, follow me. I will put you in circumstances where your will will be 1:10:41 broken and you'll come up out of that with a bigger vessel so I can fill that and we'll immerse that in and that will be filled." As big a vessel as you immerse into the Holy Spirit will be filled until one day we are conformed 1:10:56 into the image of Jesus. Rivers of living water flowing from the inside of this cup. This is the promise. Brothers, sisters, young people, children. Oh, will you cry out for that and set aside any other hang-ups you've had or other 1:11:10 false teaching you may have received or other baggage. Like I said this morning, this is a reset conference. [snorts] Let's let's seek the Lord. Let's go to his word. Let's with sincerity and not making it an intellectual thing. Let's 1:11:22 seek the Lord with humility and and and desperation and say, "Lord, I want to experience what you promised in your word, what you said you would do for me." And he will. He's longing. He's ready. Heavenly Father, I pray that you 1:11:37 will make this a reality for us. Lord, thank you that you have given the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you ascended to the father so that you could send the Holy Spirit to be in us and with us until the work is finished. 1:11:53 You've not left us as orphans. We have your Holy Spirit within us, reminding us, disclosing to us the things of Jesus, transforming us. Oh Lord, I pray that you will open the windows of heaven even now and give us a power, Lord, that 1:12:07 we long for. I pray that you will send an anointing and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit into my heart that I need desperately and that each one of us needs here, those listening as well. Will you pour out your spirit, Lord, and 1:12:20 send a wake let this be a wakeup call for any of us that have been thinking that we've been doing something for you that's apart from you and not and has been in our own strength. So that everything we do now, Lord, from this 1:12:31 day forward will be full of your spirit, full of your power and your anointing only done by your power. Everything, even our earthly work, our raising of our children, um our meeting together for meetings like this, all of it, Lord, 1:12:48 done by your power, all. Will you send that power and give us the grace to do it, Lord? Thank you for speaking to my heart, for speaking to our heart tonight. Pray you'll do that. That these words won't be forgotten. But the thirst, 1:13:01 Lord, will continue through this evening and tonight. Wake us up in the middle of the night if needed. That we can seek you and search for you. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you. Seek for him while he may be 1:13:15 found. Whatever moment of whatever time of day that might be, seek him and he will be found. He says, "I will be found by you if you search for me with all of your heart." Lord, I pray you will shake us out of a desire for convenience and comfort. And 1:13:33 such a desperation will fill our hearts, Lord, for to be filled with your Holy Spirit that we will receive this power. I thank you. Thank you, Father. You've heard our prayer in Jesus name. Amen.
