He came to be the living word of life. He came to die so we'd be reconciled. He came to rise, 3:41 to show his power and might. That's why we praise him. That's why we sing. That's why we offer him on every day. That's why we bow down and worship this 3:58 king. Cuz he gave his everything. Because he gave his everything. He came to live 4:19 to live again in us. He came to be our conquering king and friend. He came to heal and show the lost ones his love. He came to go prepare a place for us. That's why we 4:39 praise him. That's why we sing. That's why we offer him our everything. That's why we bow down and worship this king. Cuz he gave his everything. Because he gave his everything. 5:04 Hallelujah. Sing. Halle Halleluah Hal Hallelujah. Hallel Hallelu Hallelu. 5:26 That's why we praise him. That's why we sing. That's why we offer him our everything. That's why we bow down and worship this king. The song says, "All my days I will sing the song of gladness and give my praise to the fountain of delights. For in my helplessness you heard my cry and waves of mercy pour 10:53 down on my life. And I will sing of the blood that never fails, of sins forgiven, of conscience cleansed, of death defeated, and life without end. Beautiful Savior, wonderful counselor. You're the way, the truth, the life. 11:31 All my days I will sing the song of gladness. Give my praise to the fountain of delight. 11:48 For in my helplessness, you heard my cry and waves of mercy pour down on my life. I 12:07 will trust in the cross of my redeemer. You reign over all. 13:31 I long to be where the praise is never ending. Earth to dwell. Where the glory never fless worshipers 13:53 will share one song and Christ worthy will honor the land. Just the voices sing. >> Beautiful savior, wonderful counselor, 14:14 clothed in majesty, lord of history. You're the way, the truth, the life, star of the morning, glorious in holiness. You're the risen one, heaven's champion, 14:37 and you reign. You reign over all 15:00 before the throne of God. Lord, I have a strong and a perfect plane. My name is written on his hands. My name is written on his heart. before the throne of God above. 15:23 I have a strong and perfect, a great high priest whose name is love. Whoever lives and pleads for me. My name is 15:42 on his hands. My name is written on his heart. I know that while in heaven, no tongue can lead me there in 16:02 Satan temps me to despair and tells me of the guilt within. The word I look and see there my sin 16:23 because the sinless savior died. My sinful soul is bound and free. For God the just is satisfied 16:37 to look on him and pardon me. My soul is purchase 17:14 by his blood. My life is in with Christ on with Christ my savior and my God. Oh, I once held you built my life 17:41 upon this world and was to all I thought I have counted. and lost and worthless 18:00 now compared to knowing you Jesus. Knowing you there is no gater. 18:22 You're my all. You're the best. You're my joy, my righteousness, and I love you, Lord. How my heart's desire 18:42 is to know you to be found in you and know as yours to possess by faith what I could not 19:00 awake gift of rightuousness. Knowing you, Jesus, knowing you, 19:16 there is no greater thing. You're my all. You're the best. You're my joy, my righteousness. So with you live and ever gracious knowing you 20:12 Jesus knowing you there is no gater. You're my all. You're the best. You're my joy. my rightousness 20:31 and I love you. Shall we stand, brothers and sisters? 20:56 >> You laid aside your m Majesty gave up everything for me. Suffered at the hands of those you had ced. You took all my guilt and shame when you 21:20 died and rose again. How today you reign in heaven and earth exalted. I really want to worship you my Lord. 21:37 You have my heart and I am yours forever and ever. I will love you. You are the only one who died for me. 21:55 Gave your life to set me free. So I lift my voice to you in adoration. Let's sing that one more. You laid aside your majesty, 22:18 gave up everything for me, suffered at the hands of those you had ced. You took all my guilt and strength when 22:36 you died and rose again. Now today you reign in heaven and earth exalted. I really want to worship you my Lord. 22:54 You have won my heart and I am yours forever and ever. I will love you. You are the only one who died for me. 23:13 Gave your life to set me free. So I lift my voice to you in adoration. 23:52 Let's bow our heads in prayer. It's a great privilege. We are not able to fully comprehend the privilege what we have. 24:16 Angels live in the presence of God in heaven. They realize the awesome awesomeness of God's presence. We have limited 24:35 understanding of it. May the Holy Spirit help us to open our inner hearts, eyes of our hearts so that we'll be able to see 24:57 the inheritance what God has in us and also the privileges what God has given us even to stand at his presence. Give thanks to the Lord. Let's quieten our spirits and minds 25:18 from all distractions. All the other things can wait. Let's come into God's presence in our spirits. 25:44 Ephesians 2:4 says, "But God being rich in mercy." He's the richest person, 26:07 richest in mercy. Only because of that we are able to stand today. Because of his great love with which he loved us when we were dead in our transgressions 26:27 made us alive together with Christ. By grace we have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. It's absolutely his work. It's not our 26:46 work at all. Psalm 149 says, "Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song and his praise in the congregation of the godly ones. Let his people be glad in his maker. Let the 27:04 sons of Zion rejoice in their king. Let them praise him. Praise his name with dancing. Let them sing praises to him with temporal and liar. For the Lord takes pleasure in his 27:23 people. He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation. Let the godly ones exalt in glory. Let them sing for joy. It's a great privilege to give thanks to the Lord. He 27:42 has done much more than we understand. Let's give thanks to him, brothers and sisters. Father, we praise you. Father, we thank you. Lord, we cannot comprehend fully, but Lord, you're done much more than we think and imagine. Lord Jesus, 27:58 thank you. You laid down your own life to redeem us, Lord. But beautify us with salvation, Lord. That's a great privilege, Lord. Lord, whole heaven, all angels, rejoice for the fact that we have been saved from this wretched 28:17 world. the corruption which is there in the world by lust. We have been saved, sanctified, Lord. We have been pulled out of the fire. Lord, thank you very much. We praise you. Praise you. Lord, we were in when we were dead in sin. You did this 28:35 work of salvation. Lord, you thought about us. You're rich in mercy, rich in love. You bestowed your love and mercy on us, Lord. Thank you very much. We praise you. We praise you. And thank you. Thank you. Thank you dear father for your immense 28:51 love especially gathering us this day at your presence all of us. Thank you Lord for the privilege. Lord we count it a joy and we praise you and we look up to you with great expectation that what you're going to do 29:11 in our midst. You're going to be present with us. You're going to speak to us. You're going to challenge us, comfort us, Lord. You're going to give us direction, Lord. You delight in us. That's a great thing to think about. Thank you very 29:27 much, Father, for your love and care and concern. The words you have for us to encourage, anoint your servants, and give us a word and challenging words, comforting and strengthening words to live in this evil world. 29:46 Lord, yes Lord, Lord, you will help us. Thank you very much. We want to be grateful to you. We expectantly wait. Take away all the distraction, especially unbelief and fears and anxieties. Lord, Lord, we come to your 30:03 presence with joy and with expectation, with hope. Lord, you have a great hope for us. Thank you very much. We commit ourselves, Lord. Thank you very much. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Brothers and sisters, please be seated. We look 30:19 into our memory verse. Memory verses. Last week, we had a command from the book of a letter of Colossians. Please repeat after me. Colossians chapter 3:23. 30:39 Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord rather than for men. It's really good place to come to that place. That means we just live before 30:58 God. You know, whole world is under the slavery of fear of men. That's a great great liberty when we learn to live uh before the face of the Lord in his presence just to be 31:16 accountable to him. What matters uh the utmost is what he thinks about us more than what people think about it. It's a great liberty which is our privilege through Jesus Christ. Let's uh um say the verse this week's verse. Uh 31:35 please repeat after me 1 Corinthians 15:49. Just as we have borne >> the image of the earthly >> we will also bear 31:53 >> the image of the heavenly. This is another wonderful promise that we came to this earth not by our choice. The Lord did the work and now the Lord is promising that he's 32:11 going to do evenly heavenly work also in our hearts by his strength. Let's say it again. 1 Corinthians chapter 15:49. Just as we have born 32:27 the image of the earthly. >> We will also bear >> the image of the heavenly. We are privileged to hear God's word from our dear brother, brother Polo. He has a word to share with us to challenge 32:45 and encourage. Let's uh hear with a um burden in our heart. uh to for the Lord to speak to our hearts. Sometimes we may be taken up with all 33:04 the words spoken or people but uh we should be more concerned about what the Lord speaks to our heart. Ultimately, it's not the knowledge of all the details. It's what the Lord speaks to our heart. Jesus said, "Man shall not live by the 33:23 bread alone, but every word which proceeds out of the mouth of God." That is through our conscience, through the Lord's spirit, he speaks to our spirits. Let's be attentive to that. After that, we will have a song and we'll hear from 33:38 brother Charles. Thank you. Good morning brothers and sisters. 33:57 Like we heard in the time of prayer, God has done much more than what we could think or what we could uh imagine or ask for. I was thinking of this term much more for quite some time and it 34:16 encouraged my own heart. I'd like to share a few things on that from Romans chapter 5. A quiz to start with. How many times much more is mentioned in Romans 5? Don't have time to go through that. I'll 34:37 give the answers. four times has much more and slight variation of it as all the more which is you can say much more so five times in Romans five I would say it's a chapter of uh exalting and much more exalt is repeated 34:54 at least thrice um the first one is there in verse 9 much more then when it says much more then we we have to start thinking or ask ourself self. What is it saying much more? So much more is laid out as a comparison. So he has done something 35:13 much more than and perhaps it's uh good for us to meditate on what um the spirit is saying that he has done this much more. We can start from verse six. For while we are still helpless, while we were still helpless 35:33 and that's how we were ungodly and same thing in verse 6, helpless, ungodly, but God rich in mercy, like we read in Ephesians 2:4, rich in mercy, demonstrated his own love towards us. 35:52 And many of us who are working professionals know that we have if there is a project there is a demo date. Um you know this is how it is. God demonstrated he demonstrated love to the world which he had never known love. He 36:07 said I will demo love. I will demonstrate my love towards you. While while we were yet at sinners Christ died for us. So we read a few things that were mentioned how we were in verse 6 and 7 helpless ungodly 36:27 sinners and again in verse 10 while we were enemies. I was thinking of this that this is how we were and if we go to Ephesians um 2 verse 11 and 12 it says remember how you were your previous state your formerly 36:46 state you can turn there Ephesians 2 verse 11 and 12 both says remember that formerly you were Gentiles in the flesh you were at that time separate from Christ so it's good for us those who are born again who had um rece accepted 37:06 Jesus believed in him and repented of our sins and taken baptism it's good to remember for multiple reasons and we know in Peter says in 2 Peter 1 um if you have forgotten your former purification 37:23 from your former sins you you're to the point of blindness so it's good for me to remember where God picked me up from how I were and I was meditating on a few words which talks about you know uh how we were and it's a long list from epistles and when 37:43 I was reading that it really encouraged me to see yes Lord this is how I were without you without Christ this was my condition and I'll read out quickly it's a long list I'm not going to point the reference but from the are the things that are in 38:00 Romans sinners ers ungodly enemies alienated and hostile in mind condemned not his people a wild olive that's from Romans and in Ephesians or in Galatian it says we were under 38:17 curse and Ephesians dead in trespasses and sins children of wrath separated from Christ having no hope without God far off strangers and aliens and darkness. And that's from Ephesians. And the list 38:36 goes on in Titus. Foolish. You were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to lust and pleasures and hateful and haters, had not received mercy. And in Peter, we read, "Straying like a sheep." And I believe this is a partial list. 38:53 And like we heard much more than we can think and ask. Yes, God has done much more than we could even imagine. This is how we were without Christ and what Christ did. It's good to remember how we were. And it's and like Jesus himself had said, 39:12 you know, if you have forgotten or if you remember that you are forgiven much, we are all forgiven much. I'm forgiven much. But if I realize that how much I I'm forgiven, I will love him much. Jesus said that in a parable in Luke 7. 39:29 Forgiven much, you will love him much. If you realize that I am forgiven only a little, I will love him in a little. And they sang a new song in Revelation 5. And that new song is You are slain, purchased us by your blood. We were we 39:49 were sinners, ungodly, enemies, condemned, not your people, far off, no hope. But Lord Christ, you died for me. You came down. Maybe may I never lose the wonder the wonder of the cross 40:06 knowing how I were. And perhaps it talks about formerly you were. And if some of you are here who had not committed your life to the Lord, who had not repented of your sins and would if you have not believed in Christ Jesus 40:26 and if you're not born again, this is not formerly this is your current condition. Without Christ, this is how we were. And some of you it's not where some of you this is how you are. You may be born in this church, grow up 40:43 in this church, but if you have not committed your life to the Lord, this is your condition. But God, the good news is God doesn't leave us there saying you are condemned, you are far off, you're without hope, no God, but Christ died for me. 41:02 That's what we read. God demonstrated his love towards us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And we can we can perhaps you know easily think oh Christ demonstrated his love and we can move on and pass on because that's something that we hear 41:19 often. But it wasn't easy for Jesus. Though he came down to this earth to die knowing well aware that he had to die. He had to let go of his relationship with his father. It wasn't easy for him. And one such verse we read that in Mark 41:38 14:36 the other gospel puts this verse slightly differently but in Mark it's Mark puts it slightly different 41:56 Mark 14:36 this was his prayer to the father remove this cup from me all things are possible for you. And it wasn't easy for Jesus to drink this cup, to go to the cross and to let 42:14 go of this relationship with his father that he had for eternity to drink that cup. In other gospels, it says if this cup if possible, Mark's Mark goes in contrary. He's saying all things are possible. 42:33 Jesus knew well aware, "Father, all things are possible. It is possible to remove this cup for you." It wasn't if possible. It is Lord, Father, it's possible with you. Remove this cup. It not my will but yours. 42:53 And this is what really encouraged me. And he came he came out and he found Peter kneeling and praying sincerely for Jesus. Jesus told Peter to pray and other disciples to pray and Peter was praying sincerely. I don't know some 43:10 Jesus is going through some trouble and he has asked us to pray let me pray and he saw Peter sincerely praying and he went back yes for this Peter I'll drink this cup no hope we are not sleeping it wasn't the 43:30 case Peter was sleeping and he went back and we read that in Matthew and he went back and second time he said father I will drink this cup he saw a sleeping Peter and he went back 43:49 and said I will drink this cup I need to drink this cup otherwise there's no other way it's not possible for Peter or for me I want to put myself there knowing well aware without 44:06 him drinking this up. I have no hope. I'll be in darkness. I'll be far off. Children of wrath. Christ said, I have to die. Knowing well aware even after I come to know him. I will go back into pig's food or I'll 44:29 go back to sin. I will go back into world. Did he know that? Yes, he knew that even before the foundation of the world, he didn't see me after accepting Christ, after committing my life to the Lord, after receiving Christ, he didn't 44:46 see a perfect John Paulo and said I will die for him because one day he will come to know me and after that he will live for me so I will die for him. No, that wasn't the case. He knew even after knowing my love he will go astray 45:05 and he decided to die for me and that's his love and he said I will drink this cup I want to take this personal we we've heard this in in this church many times take cross personally for you I want to take it personally and say yes 45:22 Lord may this be a new song that you died for me. And that's how we were. We were helpless, sinners, ungodly, without hope. Christ died for me. 45:39 And what did he do because of his death? And we can read that. We can go back to Romans 5. Christ died for us in verse 9 having now 45:57 been justified as by his blood and that's what he did he justified me and we have heard this in the church what it means to be justified to be justified is to be accepted by God just as if we had never sinned in our whole life and that's how God looks at 46:15 me and if you are in Christ Jesus that's how God looks at you and he had justified us and just if we were perfectly righteous in all our life we read that in Romans 1 and2 having 46:33 been justified by faith we received introduction by faith into the grace in which we stand and that's what Christ did he justified me and he reconciled Verse 10, we we were 46:52 reconciled to God. We were enemies, now we are reconciled to God. We were sinners, we are justified. And all the lists that we saw in different gospels and the Holy Spirit contrast every one of them and said this is how we were and this is how Christ 47:12 this is what Christ has done for you. Reconcile to God. No condemnation. We are not even his people but he has made us a children of the living God. Sons of the living God, the people of God while olive. Now we are crafted in 47:29 to Christ. We were under curse but redeemed from the curse. Dead in trespasses and sins but made alive together with Christ. We were children of wrath but God redeemed us from wrath and made us his sons. We were separated from Christ. Now we 47:46 belong to him. Having no hope, but we are the hope of glory. Without God, but God dwells in us through his spirit. We were far off, but we were brought near. We are very near to him. We were strangers and aliens, but now 48:06 fellow citizens in God's household. We were a darkness, but light in the world. The and the sons of light saved by his mercy. mercy, washed and renewed by his holy spirit and hers of eternal life. We were people without mercy, but we 48:24 have received mercy now. We were straying like sheep, but now returned to the shepherd. And it's encouraging to see what Christ has done for us. And I believe this is in part impartial. What Christ has done is much more than 48:41 we could even think of. And that's what he has done. And that's in itself is such a great thing. Imagine we were far off. Now brought near to God without hope. Now we have hope. And he has made us his children as sons. 48:59 And that itself is a great thing. But now the Holy Spirit is saying much more than this. Think of this. He has done such a great thing that we could even imagine and think of. He's saying I'm not. This is not it. much more than this. Let's look into that 49:17 much more in verse 9 verse 10. Much more having now been justified by his blood, we shall be saved by the wrath of God through him. And again in verse 10, much more now that we are reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. We shall be 49:37 saved by his life. Maybe thinking, what? Saved again? I thought I'm saved. And we heard in this church as salvation in three tenses in past tense we are saved from the penalty of sin. And that's in the past. 49:55 God has saved us from the penalty of the sin. And in present tense we are saved from the power of sin through his life. And that is that is what is written here. We will be saved from the power of sin through his life. And when he comes back, that's in the 50:15 future tense. When he comes back, we will be saved from the very presence of sin. It's all through him. Through his death from the penalty of sin, through his life from the power of sin, and through his appearing from the presence of sin. 50:32 And that's what we read in 1 John 3. When we when we see him, we'll be like him. There will be no presence of sin. Now the present tense we will be saved from the power of sin. Sin will not have dominion over me. It 50:50 will not master over me. It will not have power over me because I can be saved from from the power of sin by his life. And this is much more. You are brought into Christ. You are saved from the penalty of the sin. Much more you'll be saved 51:07 from the power of sin through his life. It is not a life of gritting our teeth and saying, "No, I will not sin." No, we will be saved from the power of sin through his life. It's not gritting our teeth and say, "I'll never be angry again. I will never 51:24 lust again. I will never go after money again." No, we will be saved by the power of sin through his life. You know, it's like this. A father has paid a semester fees. 51:41 Many times when I was in college, you know, I go to my dad and say, "Dad, I need to pay the semester fees." Yes, done. It's huge amount. It's fine. I will pay the semester fees. And some college, not all, some college has a um 51:54 small fee that's to be paid for examination, exam fee. And now if the son thinks that no, he paid the semester fee. Now I need to somehow work and earn and pay the uh exam fee. Father will say it's foolish. I paid the whole semester fee. Will I 52:13 not pay this exam fee for you? I paid this huge price. I paid a huge price to save you from the penalty of the sin. Will I not give you my life and save you from the power of sin? I paid this huge 52:31 sum this semester fee. How much more I'll pay this exam fee to save you or to help you write exam. And how foolish should it be on the part of the boy to somehow think that I need to go and earn perhaps in other countries they do not an issue but here 52:51 at least here parents still pay the pay the fees and I don't need to go and earn and pay that fees. And how is it possible and that is explained in other much more in that go in that same chapter. 53:08 For if by the transgression verse 15 by the transgression of one many died that's Adam by his transgression many died. Much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man Jesus 53:25 Christ abound to many. And very similar lines in verse 17. If by the transgression of one death reigned through the one, by the transgression of one man, death reigned, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of 53:44 righteousness will reign in life through one Jesus Christ. That's the calling, brothers and sisters, for us that we receive the abundance of grace and we can reign in life through Jesus Christ. Not somehow survive, somehow manage, 54:04 somehow grit my teeth and be saved, but we can reign in life. How can I receive his life? We read we saved by his life. How can I receive his life? The Holy Spirit, the grace of God imparts in us the life of Jesus. 54:22 Can I ever live this life? Can I ever overcome less? Can I ever be free from sinful thought? Can I ever overcome the love of money? Yes. If we receive the abundance of grace, we can reign in life. And this this comparison of saying much 54:41 more is trying to contrast contrast Adam and contrast Jesus. Where did I get this sinful nature in first place? Now this nature came from Adam. 54:58 The sinful nature nature of lust or love of money or whatever it is. This came from Adam. And how easy or difficult it is for me to believe that through one man's sin all of us death reigned through one man. That's what we 55:18 read in verse 17. Death reign through one. How difficult it is to believe that. It's not very difficult. We all say yes because of one man's sin I have this nature in me. And he contrasts it saying much more those who receive the abundance of 55:37 grace. And I believe if I say that I can never overcome this particular thing, it is an insult to Jesus because it puts Adam in a bigger picture and makes Jesus smaller. But the reality is it's in contrast. 55:56 Much more those who receive the abundance of grace will reign in life. I can never say I will not be able to overcome anger or lust or this evil nature because that puts Adam in a bigger plane or bigger picture saying no 56:12 Adam is powerful but our Lord Jesus Christ is much more powerful than Adam and he's saying you receive the abundance of grace and you can re in life you can re over anger you can re over your sinful thoughts 56:35 and briefly look into what are the things that God has called us to reign over because I may go back with the wrong concept of what I should reign and the word of God at least puts four or five things on what we need to reign 56:50 in it starts in Genesis right from Genesis 4:7 Seven. Sin. This is to Cain. The Lord said, 57:10 "Sin is crouching at the door. It desire is for you, but you should rule over it. You should master over it. You should reign over it. You know, you see that that's that's what I understand. The sin wants to 57:27 reign over us, but the Lord's desire is that I reign over sin. He wasn't able to do that. But we've heard in this church quite often from Romans 6:14, for sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but 57:43 under grace. When we are under grace, when we receive the abundance of grace, we can reign over sin. Every sin in my life I can rein. Not somehow grit my teeth and survive. Not somehow go to him for forgiveness 58:02 every time. But I can drain. But it when we read that verse in Genesis 4:7, but sin wants to reign us. It has desire over us. It wants to rule over us. It wants to reign over us. But Lord, I want to be receiving your abundance of grace. There is no shortage 58:20 of grace with him. It says abundance of grace. I can go to him and if I abound in humility and abound in faith, I can receive the abundance of grace and I can reign over sin. The second thing 58:37 we read that in Galatians 5 verse 16. But I say walk by the spirit again you know how we can reign wherever we read it's in connection with spirit or grace 58:55 or the holy spirit if you walk by the spirit you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. Again we read here your flesh wants to reign you. Your flesh sets its desire against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh. But if 59:17 we are under the grace through his grace we can reign the desires of the flesh and all the desires of the flesh. I don't need to let my flesh and its desires control me or reign me. If I receive the abundance of grace I can 59:37 reign over my flesh and the desires of the flesh. The third thing again in Genesis right in the beginning God said you rule over or reign over the earth and the things of the earth. We read that in two verses in 26 and 28 of 59:52 Genesis 1. And God wanted man to you know rule over the over the birds of the sky over the every living thing and that moves on the earth. And that's the desire of God from the beginning that we will rule over 1:00:11 earth and the things of the earth and not be taken up by the things of the earth. But again the things of the earth wants to rule over us, reign over us, somehow take over us. We read that in the parable of so that Jesus mentioned 1:00:27 in Mark 4, the deceitfulness of riches and the desire for earthly things. They try to choke. They try to rain. They try to somehow take over. And I need to fight against it and receive the abundance of grace and say, "No, I won't be reign over. I won't be 1:00:47 taken over by the deceitfulness of riches or the things of this earth constantly trying to see for um more money, more promotion, and the things of the earth. and they somehow have a way to take over, reign us. But Lord, I need to be 1:01:06 reigning the earth and the things of the earth. I was thinking in my in my uh recently was think uh in my office situation they said uh some time back they said hey you will receive your bonus in 2 weeks. 1:01:26 They didn't say how much it is and exact date of when it's going to be given. So they said in 2 weeks. The very next morning they operate in US. So I went to my phone. Moment I got up and pulling down my email to see if 1:01:41 there is a email about what how much is the money and if it has come and first day I didn't feel anything and went on doing my things. The second day when I pulled my email the Holy Spirit convicted this is the love of money. 1:01:59 This is deceitfulness. I was trying to fight it out saying no no no they are supposed to give and they said they will give. How is that love of money is thing that I should get. I just want to know how much it's going to be. 1:02:11 I was fighting it out and said no it's not love of money. And third day when I pulled the conviction grew stronger saying it's love of money. And fourth day now I'm trying to fight somehow saying no first thing I shouldn't go 1:02:25 back to my phone. Maybe I should pray. I should do this, do that, not be taken up by that. Holy Spirit wrote faith in my heart. If you receive the abundance of grace, you can re over earthly things. 1:02:45 You can re over earthly things. It's not gritting my teeth and say, "No, this versus this. No, I shouldn't go here. I should go here." No, no, it's not fighting it out like this. But to say Lord yes acknowledge this is love of 1:02:58 money. This is the deceitfulness of sin, deceitfulness of riches. It's trying to take over. It's trying to reign me. I come to you and I humble myself. Lord, I need the abundance of grace. And that's what is promised in your word. Right 1:03:14 faith in my heart. And it's not just abundance of grace. I want to point out that verse. those who received the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. Abraham believed and it was counted as righteousness for him. The gift of 1:03:30 righteousness and I need to believe and say yes Lord it is possible that I can reign over this. I don't need to fight it out every morning till I get my bonus. No, that's not the life. I want to reign over this. Lord, give me the 1:03:44 abundance of grace and write faith in my heart. God can do that and God has done that and he will do that. I can reign over things of the earth and not let it take over and reign me. And the fourth thing we read in the word 1:04:02 of God of what we are supposed to reign 2 Corinthians 10:5 it says taking every thoughts captive under the obedience of Christ. Reign over my thoughts not letting my thoughts reign over me. Can be many thoughts. thoughts about oh 1:04:18 the air is increasingly going in a high speed what is the impact of it going to be in my job worries perhaps job situation or young people marriage about tomorrow about my children's studies their future what are they going to study what is the future 1:04:37 going to be lot of thoughts thoughts of worry or perhaps the high thoughts we read that about in Romans 12:3 high thoughts thinking too much about myself. Now thoughts seek to reign over us, seek to control us, seek to take us in its 1:04:51 own direction. But the word of God is take the thought captive under the obedience of Christ that I reign over my thoughts and not let my thoughts reign over me. And I like that taking captive in other words saying thoughts you are under 1:05:10 arrest. You are under imprisonment. your you know your zone is only this this is the four wall or this is your boundary your boundaries are defined the word of God defines the boundary whatever is true whatever is good and dwell on those 1:05:26 things and that's your boundary I take the thoughts under obedience of Christ I not let my thought run free but taking it captive and say I will reign over my thoughts through the abundance of grace 1:05:43 And finally over Satan and we read that in James 4:7 again that the cont context there is those who grace and it says greater grace we'll read there James 4 1:06:06 submit therefore to God and resist the devil and he will flee from you And in previous verses we read about he gives greater grace. Verse six and talks about he gives grace to the humble. If I go the way of humility, if 1:06:21 I abound in humility and ask God and to put that faith and write that faith in my heart, I can receive the abundance of grace. I can receive the greater grace and I can resist him. I can rule over. And it says and Jesus said in his 1:06:40 prayer, behold the ruler of the world is come coming. He has nothing in me and that's how I need to reign over him. He nothing of his things, nothing of his stuff is in me. If I have anger, if I have unforgiving attitude, if I have not forgiven, 1:07:00 I give devil an opportunity and he takes over. He controls me. It's not that I reign him. We read that in Ephesians. No, don't let the sun go down on your anger. Especially in husband and wife at home. Lord, I want to protect the unity. 1:07:16 I don't want to be angry and I want to set it right soon because I give devil an opportunity for him to come in and I can't reign over him if there is something of him in me. And that's that's the hope that God 1:07:36 gives us. Those who receive the abundance of grace can reign in life. The last much more in that chapter is in verse 20. Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. Grace abounds all the more. Young people in the place of work 1:07:54 in the hostel that you stay wherever it is where you see increasingly the the sin is increasing more and more. Take this promise say Lord let your grace abound in my life all the more so that I can reign in life and reign over sin. 1:08:13 Reign over flesh and its desires. Reign over earth. reign over my thoughts and ultimately reign over Satan. And one last in closing, I just want to read this verse. 1:08:29 The other much more in Luke 11 13 again that much more is in the connection with Holy Spirit. If you then being evil know how to give 1:08:48 good gifts to your children. It talks about fish. Perhaps some parents may not be able to afford fish every time or egg at least egg that also it's too difficult to afford. It talks about bread which every parent can afford. You 1:09:04 know evil parents will at least give bread. How much more heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who ask him. It is how much more he will give the Holy Spirit and he is in work in us. He is the one who began this work 1:09:23 and we will I want to work out my salvation with fear and trembling. He's the one who began. He is the one who will fulfill it. And it says yes I will do all that but you work out. It's in the same verses 22 Philippians and 1:09:37 Philippians 2:13. is the one who began the good work. And it says, "You work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Lord, you started this work in me. I want to believe in you. I want to go the way of humility. I want to be 1:09:50 faithful to come to you to receive the abundance of grace so that I can reign over the things that we saw in this morning and how we were and Christ died and redeemed me from how I was. Now he says, "I will do much more. I 1:10:08 want to believe that in Ephesians 3:20. Now to him who is able to do much more far more abundantly 1:10:26 beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us. To him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. to all generation forever and ever. Amen. 1:11:23 What a wonderful liberating word we've heard. And it's really good for us to say amen. As many as are the promises of God in him they are yes and amen. That's what 1:11:42 Abraham who was the father of faith said. He said amen to the Lord. So let's let's do that to the blessed word that we heard. Let's sing this song. It's a prayer for Jesus to grow and to 1:12:00 give us much more to be much more. to grow in our thoughts to give us abundant grace. Oh Jesus Christ, grow thou in me and all 1:12:22 things receive. My heart be daily from sin be daily free 1:12:40 each day. Let thy supporting mind. My weakness still embrace. My darkness vanish 1:12:55 in thy light, thy life, my death that f in thy bright beams which on me for everyone 1:13:17 that I am nothing thou My all I will be daily. Each day let thy support in my my weakness 1:13:37 still embra my darkness in thy light. My life, my tender f more of thy glory. 1:13:57 Let me see thou holy, wise and true. I would die 1:14:09 in thee in joy and sorrow, too. He still th my weakness still embrace 1:14:30 my darkness in thy light. Thy life my death. Fill me with gladness from above 1:14:48 me by strength diving. Lord, let the glor of thy great love through all my nation. Each day let thy supporting 1:15:11 night. My weakness still embrace my darkness in thy life. Thy light my death. 1:15:31 Take this poor self grow less and less be thou my life and >> oh make me daily 1:15:47 through thy grace for me to bear thy name each day. Let thy support in mine. My weakness 1:16:05 still embrace my darkness in thy light, thy light, my death. Amen. 1:16:53 We read in Isaiah chapter 59 verse1 Isaiah 59:E1 it says why our prayers are not answered very often the reason is given here behold the hand 1:17:11 of the Lord is not so short that it cannot save neither is his ear so dull that it cannot hear but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God and your sins 1:17:27 have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. See this is the reason why many of our prayers are not answered because we harbor sin in our life in our thought 1:17:46 and the Lord not only sees our deeds and actions and words but he sees deep down the Lord doesn't look at man uh like we do 1:18:05 external things but he looks at the heart. He said to Samuel when he went to anoint uh the future king of Israel in place of Saul. So the Lord looks at our heart and our motives, our thoughts 1:18:24 why and why we are thinking that why we are dwelling upon that. That is the that is what you know blocks our relationship or our connection with the Lord. 1:18:43 And we read from the beginning of history. God created man in his own image but he messed it up. By the time we come to chapter six, the whole earth was so corrupt that every thought and intent of man was only evil. And God 1:19:02 felt sorry for having made man. It says that God decided to wipe out the whole humanity. And he did that in the days of Noah. And we are Noah's offspring as it were now because the second 1:19:21 um life or generation started from the family of Noah and then even then they didn't learn and they continue to sin continue to um grieve the heart of God. So much so when 1:19:41 we come to the end of the Old Testament, in the last chapter of the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi chapter 4, the Lord says, "I have had enough of you." And he says the last 1:20:02 two verses in Malachi chapter 4, the Lord says, "Behold, I'm going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. And he will restore the hearts of the father to their children and the hearts 1:20:21 of the children to their father. And in between the testaments there were 400 years of silence. Just imagine if your prayers are not answered 1:20:39 overnight or maybe even in a week. You get so bothered what happened? Why God is not answering my prayer? But here these people were quite content for 400 years. Can you just imagine that? 1:20:56 For 400 years, heaven was shut as it were. The Lord never sent a prophet, never sent a word, never dealt with them in any way. But he said, 1:21:13 "I will send my messenger." And the messenger came. We read about that in the New Testament. In the first book of the New Testament, Matthew chapter 3 verse 1, it says, "Now in those days John the Baptist came 1:21:31 preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And he was the forerunner of Jesus Christ. And he was preparing the way for the Lord. And the first message he 1:21:50 preaches is telling the Israelites, repent of your sins. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. That means coming. It's here. And then different types of people come to him 1:22:10 confessing their sins and getting baptized. And then Jesus comes in chapter 4 and verse 17. And when he starts his public ministry, 1:22:28 he says exactly the same words what John said. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. You see the New Testament begins with the word repent, not so much faith or believe. I was looking at the 1:22:47 concordance yesterday. The word repent comes first. Repent. Repentance comes first and then comes faith and believe and those things. So what Christianity has done today is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you 1:23:06 shall be saved. That is also scripture. No doubt. But before that comes repentance. We need to see the order in which the gospel is presented today. The gospel is first of all exorting us to repent. What 1:23:23 is repentance? Repentance is turning around 180 degree. It's going this way. The Lord meets with me and convicts me of my sins. And I am broken and contrite and I turn my back to the 1:23:42 former ways, the world, and I turn towards the Lord. That is repentance. It's a deep sorrow for what I have done in the past. combined with a sincere commitment 1:23:59 not to do those things again but to be better pleasing to the Lord. That is repentance. And the whole humanity as far as God is concerned God has put them under one category 1:24:16 that we read in Romans chapter 3. Romans chapter 3. None of us can escape and say I am better. It's not so. The Lord has put all mankind under one 1:24:34 category. Verse 9, it says both Jews and Greeks are all under sin. Verse 9, last part of it means those who knew the ways of God, Israelites and the pagans 1:24:54 that is Greeks and all the rest of um non-Jewish people they were called pagans and it says both in this world 1:25:12 And he says, "There is none righteous, not even one, and there is none who understands and none who seeks for God. All have turned aside together and have become useless. There is no one who does good. 1:25:31 There is not even one." This is the verdict that God gives to mankind. And he says their throat is an open grave. Their tongue they deceive with that and the poison of 1:25:51 asps is under their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet run swift to do evil and to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their paths 1:26:07 and the path of peace they have not known. There's no fear of God between before their eyes. Such is the condition. The Lord explains it very clearly. 1:26:26 And the Lord like we heard who is rich in mercy when we were dead in sins and trespasses he quickened us as we read in Ephesians 1:26:44 2 1 2 we were dead in sins and trespasses and when you speak to a dead man what response you get you don't get any response. He's dead as far as God is concerned, 1:27:03 but he's alive unto the world and unto sin. But God who is rich in mercy, he quickened us. It says means he sort of gave us life. He resurrected us as if 1:27:21 as it were from the death of sin into the life of God. He raised us up and made us sit together with Christ in God. It says, "And then comes faith." We read about 1:27:40 that in Mark 1:15. go and preach repentance and faith. You see this is very important in the Christian life because without repentance we cannot come to faith and 1:27:58 without faith we cannot sustain in it. So they go together. They are like two sides of a coin. And what God has joined together let no man separate. It says repentance and faith go together 1:28:17 and repentance precedes my salvation and follows my salvation. I initially repent of my sins when the Holy Spirit convicts me and the word of God convicts me that I am a sinner. I have lost the 1:28:36 way. I am without God, without hope in this world, I'm heading towards eternal damnation. And when God has mercy on me and quickens me and repent like the thief on the cross, 1:28:56 there were two thieves on the cross. You know that both were hurling abuse and mocking Jesus. But one of them later on after seeing the attitude of Jesus on the cross, he recognized something. There is something different about this man in the middle 1:29:16 cross. And then he told the other thief, "Don't you fear God even in this condition?" He says we are receiving what we deserve. But whereas this man has done nothing wrong. 1:29:35 He confessed his sin, acknowledged that he was receiving his punishment and that was he was worthy of it. But he said, "Whereas this man has done nothing wrong." 1:29:51 And when he says that and tells the Lord Jesus, he recognized that he is not of this world. His kingdom is not of this world. And then he looked at Jesus and said, "Lord, remember me when you 1:30:11 come back into your kingdom." That's all he said. Just remember me. He didn't ask for a seat in heaven. said, "Just remember me, Lord, when you come back into your kingdom and look at the heart of God." 1:30:29 Jesus said, "Today, you will be with me in paradise." What a change. One person acknowledged and his direction was changed. Another person continued to mock and he went 1:30:48 where he was supposed to go. Brothers and sisters, that passage that we just read in Ephesians 2, it says, "We were formerly walked according to the course of this this world, according to the prince of 1:31:08 the power of the air, that is the devil, and the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Even now, if some of you are sitting here as sons of disobedience and you're still harboring in your heart 1:31:25 evil thoughts, judgmental thoughts and corruption, you will reap corruption 100 times or more than that because what you sow is what you get and not just one 1:31:45 seed. If you sow, you'll get one seed, but you'll get in hundreds. And your your harvesting will be manifold. But God being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, 1:32:03 he even even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive. It says, "Together with Christ, by grace you have been saved." 1:32:24 And we have a few examples in the Bible about false repentance. There is genuine repentance and there is false repentance. Genuine repentance is one where 1:32:43 I recognize what I am and go to God in contrition, in brokenness, with tears and plead for his mercy. And anybody who comes to God with that plea, he will never turn them out. 1:33:03 He He's rich in mercy as we read. And uh we know that these two people he sinned very badly. King David but he 1:33:22 repented so thoroughly that he didn't cover his sins like King Saul. He said I have sinned true but please come with me and honor me before people. He says to Samuel, Samuel said, "Nothing doing I am not coming with you." And 1:33:40 then he grabs him by his robe and the robe tears and Samuel says, "Just as you torn my robe, God has torn your kingdom and has chosen somebody better than you." And then King Ahab 1:33:59 also repented and said, "I have sinned." But it was only a superficial. And then we read about Judas also. Judas also um went and confessed. You read that in Matthew 27. He went to the wrong people to confess his sins. He went to the 1:34:19 priests. How many of you gone to the priests in your unconverted days in the Catholic system and confessed your sins? You think your sins were forgiven then? No, only Jesus can forgive your sins 1:34:35 because he died for your sins. Not your preacher, not your pastor, not your father. These are examples of false repentance. But genuine repentance is David. When he sinned, he fell before 1:34:55 God and he said, "Lord, I have sinned against you and against you only have I sinned. Please blot out my iniquity. Restore unto me the joy of salvation." And he cried out to God with such 1:35:14 brokenness and contrition that the Lord heard his prayer. And this man, he he didn't hide anything. He wrote a big psalm, Psalm 51, confessing all his sins, which 1:35:32 Christianity knows for the last 3,000 years. That David sinned, but he was restored. restored to such an extent that Jesus is not ashamed to call himself as 1:35:50 son of David and Peter also in fact he denied Jesus three times I don't know this man but when Jesus told him the will 1:36:09 not crow this morning until you have denied me three times. And when the third time when he denied and the crew and Jesus eyes and Peter's eyes met, 1:36:28 but that was not a look of condemnation. I believe there was grace and there was mercy in Jesus's eyes when he looked at Peter. And Peter, it says he went out and wept bitterly, his heart out. 1:36:45 Then he repented. Jesus restored him back. Made him the leader of the apostles. There is false repentance and there is true 1:37:01 repentance. False repentance we saw in Saul, Ahab and Judas. True repentance we see in Zakius. That's in Luke 19 verse 9. When the Lord Jesus saw 1:37:20 Zakius sitting on a tree, he went down there and he looked at him and he said, "Zakius, come down. I want to come to your house today." And they they were going together to Zakius's house. And before Zakius took Jesus inside his 1:37:40 house, he stood outside and said, "Lord, he knew that Jesus knew his heart and he knew all his financial dealings. He knew that this fellow was a crook. But Jesus said, "I have not come to call 1:37:59 the righteous. I have come to call sinners to repentance." And he Zakius confesses to Jesus before let's settle it here Lord before we enter into the house. This house what you see this beautiful mansion 1:38:19 I have not built it with my salary. I have cheated people. I have defrauded the poor. And this is unrighteous money with which I have built this house. 1:38:38 Lord, I will give back half of my possession. And I will restore four-fold to those whom I have defrauded. And where there is willingness, God takes it as if it is done. 1:38:55 And Jesus believed in Zakius and he said today salvation has come to this house. He's also a son of Abraham. See God is so rich in mercy as we heard 1:39:12 a little prayer genuine prayer. I'm talking about not uh just like that verse says in Isaiah these people draw to me with their lips but their hearts are far away from me. Prayer is something that comes from deep 1:39:32 within our heart and it involves making amends making restitution. If I have cheated somebody like Zakius did, if I have hurt 1:39:48 somebody with my words or grieved or done anything uncristlike, then I seek to rest rectify that and restitute, make restitution 1:40:05 and there will be a change in me if I am uh really repented and born Again there will be change in my thought in my behavior and I will know that first of all in my 1:40:24 spirit that I am a new creation. Old things passed away. Behold all things have become new. My outlook in life changes and my immediate neighbors that is at home. My parents, my siblings 1:40:44 will immediately recognize that something has happened to my son or daughter. He is not behaving like he used to behave. stubborn, disobedient and sinful, having his own way, not 1:41:02 listening, disobedient. There will be a change which others also will notice and then your classmates or your colleagues in the office, they will also see the change in you. 1:41:20 And that is the testimony that something has happened. Like we sing in the song, he touched me. Oh, he touched me. Old things passed away and behold all 1:41:38 things have become new. This is a mark of a truly repented person. Old things are gone. Now I'm a new creation. I am a child of God. That spirit of God comes into my heart and then cries out 1:41:56 aba and father. God is not a distant entity now. He is not someone who is sitting there up on the throne in heaven like a policeman watching looking at me where I sleep where I can spank him. God 1:42:13 is not like that. God is our father. Go home and read chapter 6 of Matthew. The Lord teaches the Lord's prayer. What we call the Lord's prayer. It is actually our prayer. And then he says your heavenly father knows that you need all 1:42:32 these things. So many times he says to emphasize that so that it can be registered in our heart. God is not just almighty God in heaven sitting on the throne. He says your father, your father, your father knows about it. Even before 1:42:52 you pray, he knows and then he will give you. So that is one mark of having been born again. The second the further changes that we see in a born-again believer is that 1:43:11 the Lord taught that prayer as to how to pray. And in that he added one sentence, Lord forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And uh if I pray that prayer, some of us may be 1:43:30 in the habit of praying that prayer every day. And uh God will take you by your word. And when you come before the throne of Christ, what do you think God will do to you if you have not forgiven those who have 1:43:49 sinned against you? This is what you have been praying all along right in your lifetime. Forgive me Lord as I forgive those who have sinned against me and I hold my hand on somebody's throat and I 1:44:08 never release him and never forgive him because of the harm some very grave serious harm he may have done to you to you and I decide this man I will never in my life forgive or that woman 1:44:26 if We behave like that. The Lord will also say after the Lord finished that prayer, he says in chap chapter 6 verse1 15, if you don't forgive those who sin against you, neither will your heavenly father 1:44:45 forgive your sins. Dear brothers and sisters, this is very very important for a Christian who claims to be born again. If you are keeping some grudge, some unforgiveness in your heart against somebody, 1:45:02 no matter how grievous and how serious that sin was, you none of us have been crucified, right? Even on the cross, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them." And we have not gone to that extent. And what prevents us from forgiving us 1:45:21 forgiving others sins? If you don't forgive, you will not be forgiven. And there won't be any unforgiven person in heaven. Remember that. And then also Jesus said, if you don't forgive from your heart, 1:45:40 neither will your heavenly father forgive, not just with your lips, from the heart. And if you forgive somebody from your heart, you look at that person with a different look, 1:46:00 with a clean heart as though he has never committed that sin against you. And another thing, one last thing that after a person is born again that there will be 1:46:23 you know outward action. Not only inward change, there will be outward action. That is like if you were a slave to pornography or black magic or witchcraft or things 1:46:42 like that which had link with Satan then you will not throw them away. you will like these people in um like we read in Acts 19:19 1:47:00 they brought their books of witchcraft they burnt them in fire they didn't uh sell it in the secondhand book market or pass it on to somebody else who was 1:47:18 practicing that they burnt them up. Do that. Burn up those things in which you were indulging and incurring the wrath of God. Be done with them and send nothing to 1:47:37 nothing uh to do with them and then come to the Lord. Submit to him like we heard in that words. First of all, submit to God and then you will be able 1:47:57 to resist the devil. You cannot resist the devil like the those sons ofKea tried to cast out demons from demon-possessed people. They said, "I cast you out in the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches." 1:48:14 said, "But those demons knew who they were and who who the Apostle Paul was. Those demons jumped on them and overpowered them and tore them and they ran away for their life because they didn't have Jesus living in their heart. 1:48:33 They said, "Jesus, I know Paul I know, but who are you?" So those of you who are taking baptism today, dear brothers and sisters, your attitude towards Satan should be changed. Once upon a time, he was sitting on your head and now you're going to crush him 1:48:52 under your feet. That's what Romans 16:20 says. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. Claim that. And like we heard, we will be more than conquerors 1:49:09 through him who loved us if and if only we keep in continual fellowship with the Lord and live in obedience and faith. Not that once upon a time I made a decision to follow Christ. I 1:49:26 signed a decision card. I am saved. You may have been saved at that time. You may be lost today. We don't believe in that gospel. I mean that doctrine once saved always saved. We don't believe that for for your information. 1:49:45 If you happen to believe that please find some other church. There were people sitting here for number of years believing that gospel. Finally they got fed up and went away. So don't waste your time sitting here if you believe that gospel. 1:50:01 If you don't walk in the light as he is in the light every day of your life, you will be walking in darkness and you will go to darkness. May the Lord speak to us. Convict us. And if you not given your life to Jesus, 1:50:19 repent of your sins today and ask the Lord to cleanse you and to give you a new heart and a new mind and make you a new creation. If any man is in Christ, Jesus is a new creation. Old things passed away. Behold, all things have 1:50:34 become new. It says, shall we ask the Lord to do that? Let's pray. Our heavenly father, we thank you for this day and thank you for your word. Your word is quick 1:50:51 and it is alive. You said your word is spirit and your word is life. Lord Jesus, you have quickened most of us sitting here by your word and by your spirit and given us a new life so that we can live for you the rest of our life in 1:51:11 obedience and faithfulness. Dear father, we pray that even these dear brothers and sisters who are serving notice to the devil and the kingdom of darkness that they don't belong to them anymore that they belong to Jesus. Lord, help 1:51:29 them. Fill them with the Holy Spirit even as they obey you in the waters of baptism. We pray that you will help them Lord Jesus to love you wholeheartedly and to live for you and guide them. We 1:51:48 pray Lord Jesus in your precious name we ask. Amen. Amen. 1:52:31 Put pause.
