And uh for the benefit of the newcomers who do not know brother Santosh he is the second son of brother Zack Poonen. He is the 20:20 uh one of the elders there in RLCF church in Colorado. And uh he has been uh often coming and blessing us now and then whenever opportunity arises, he takes the time to not only come 20:39 he comes with his family also. He brings his family to uh familiarize with the Indian culture the children so that they will mingle with our children. And they're very happy to do that. They always enjoy being 20:58 in India and uh more so in Bangalore to meet their friends once in a while. And we are thankful to you brother Santosh for joining us this morning. And uh I see some other brothers there as well, the 23:27 other elders, and uh Um praise God for the opportunity you have to meet like this during this weekend. I pray that it's been a blessed time, and it's wonderful that we have some sessions for the brothers as well. 23:45 Seems like only yesterday that I was just there in that in that building. To all of you after a really blessed time in India. Uh I know you all tell me that you feel blessed, but I think we get the greater blessing, and I really mean that. 24:03 Um it has always been my burden for my family, my children, uh my wife and my children, but especially my children, to see the work that God is doing in Bangalore. Uh and even though the building is different from where it started, I believe the 24:23 spirit is the same. And the burden that the Lord laid on my dad and Brother Ian 50 years ago, 51 years ago almost now, has continued on to this day. And that's because God bore witness 24:42 to the way they sought to go, not copying the ways of the world. There are many other churches that have risen and fallen. Kingdoms, you can say that have risen and fallen. But the church of Jesus Christ will 24:59 remain. And that's not CFC or any other name. It is people who are committed to being a part of Christ's church that he is building. But I also see that it's because God was able to find men. 25:18 God needs men. God has always chosen men to be his leaders. Now, women have a very important role in the church as well. And in the home. But when it comes to taking the lead in the home and in the church, he has he needs 25:36 men. And he chose when he was here on this earth 12 young men in their 20s. When I think about that I think about my own age and I think about the age of just guessing by your faces. 25:55 Uh I don't want to guess wrong, but I think most of you are over are older. Most of us are older than the disciples were on the day of Pentecost. Most of us. There are probably some of us who are younger, some of you who are 26:11 younger. But most of us are older. And very often I know we can feel like, "Lord, how can you use me? I have so many failures. I I'm not good enough. I haven't come to full victory in this area or 26:29 I I so many things still need to happen." I'm sure the disciples could have felt like that, too. They were imperfect people. And even after the day of Pentecost they fell in different areas. Peter experienced some form of hypocrisy with the 26:48 when the Gentiles came in and Paul made blunders as well. So, we don't wait to reach some level of perfection before God can use us. God wants to use us right now. I believe right now at this very moment 27:07 there's nothing preventing every one of us from being useful in God's kingdom, in the church. It may not be preaching or some public ministry, but right now, at this very moment, there's nothing that should prevent us, 27:26 every one of us, from the youngest to the oldest, from being useful in the church. There's a godly man who lived in America many years ago. His name is D.L. Moody. You've probably heard of him. A wonderful evangelist and 27:42 used by God mightily. There was a quote he said, there's something he said that I I think about often. He said, "Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding in something that will not really matter." 27:59 Let me say that again. Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but our fear should be that we will succeed at something that will not really matter. I think about that often, dear brothers, because I do a lot of things. I I I work a job. 28:18 I I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm an elder in the church. I speak in when people ask, if if the Lord opens the door, I'm available. But my fear is that I will get to the end of my life and realize that I succeeded in something, 28:36 whatever that might be, whether it was an earthly endeavor or some ministry in the church, that I succeeded in something, but it didn't really matter. One of the books that has influenced my life the most in the last recent number of years I 28:52 would say, maybe the last 10 years, is a book that my dad wrote called God's work done God's way. Uh it's there in CFC. If you haven't read it, I want to encourage all of you, dear brothers, to read that book. And if it's been a 29:06 while since you read it, read it again. Because that passage in 1 Corinthians 3, where we're [clears throat] told that there will be those whose foundation was on Jesus Christ, but whose entire life's work will be burned up. 29:24 And I I fear that. That is a bigger fear for me than going to hell. I'm not afraid of going to hell at all. I have an assurance that Christ has saved me. I don't fear hell at all. I fear that I will have a foundation on 29:40 Christ, but I'll reach the end of my life and some part of my life's work will be burned up. In some cases, it'll be all of it. And I don't even want a little bit of my life to be burned up. Burned up means 30:00 God says, "No, that was of no value." You thought it was valuable. Other people around you told you, "Oh, what a good brother, holy brother, godly brother." And all that. You They told you you were successful, but it's of no value in eternity. 30:17 That would be quite a tragedy. And you can meditate on that passage in 1 Corinthians 3 sometime. Well, I wasn't planning to speak on that. So, you can read it, but read that book also. Talks about building with gold, silver, 30:31 and precious stones for the glory of God, or building with wood, hay, and straw. And the gold, silver, and precious stones my dad speaks in that book is that which is from God, through God, and to God. That's the last verse of Romans 30:48 chapter 11. Maybe we can turn to Romans chapter 11. And begin there. Romans chapter 11. This is the only thing that will last in eternity. Romans chapter 11, verse 36, for from him and through him 31:08 and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen. Therefore, I urge you now, brethren. That's the same sentence he's talking about. If we really want to do the work that will remain, the gold, 31:26 silver, and precious stones, the work that is from God, through God, and to God, then he says, here's what you must do. Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 31:43 So, what we see here is that the gold, silver, and precious stones can only come through those who have presented their bodies as a living sacrifice. And recently, um I'm going through a reading Bible reading plan with our church here that 32:01 took us through the book of Leviticus, and now we're into Numbers and Deuteronomy. But when we were going through Leviticus, we read again the great detail with which God spoke about the sacrifices. And um 32:17 uh and sacrifices it body. 32:40 Every one of us, that's why I said there's nothing right now at this very moment preventing us from being useful in God's kingdom. The one who is useful in God's kingdom is the one who has presented his body as a living sacrifice. 32:59 You don't have to have a gift of preaching, you don't have to have a gift of singing, you don't have to know the scriptures very well. It's good to know the scriptures, but we all have a body. And today, if I give my body as a living 33:15 sacrifice to God, then he says this will be something that will be useful. And the reason this is on my mind is because I see many churches coming up around the world. Every so often, I hear about another church that has 33:33 come up right our town that I live in. The same as before. In fact, when I was there, I I drive the church there and there's another church there, some big ones, and others little 33:51 small churches as well. So, churches are all over the world, many many many churches. And I wonder what will come up these these works. So, will they remain? 34:14 That's that the the the fire will tell. But, we've been given a body, and the reason the scriptures say our bodies as a living sacrifice is because when our bodies are given as a living sacrifice, then and only then can 34:32 he put the life of Christ in us. God cannot pour the life of Christ, the divine nature, into a body that has not been offered as a sacrifice. And this is what you won't hear in almost any other church. I really mean 34:51 that. I've after leaving Bangalore many years ago at the age of 18, uh there were no CFC like-minded churches in this country. And I went to different churches. In fact, I I I wanted to hear something else besides what I had heard. I thought there's got 35:08 to be other other truths. And I heard a lot of preaching, but I never heard this that you must offer your body as a living sacrifice in order for Christ to put his life in you. They were speaking about taking 35:27 people to heaven. And s- confess your sins, yes, that's good. Jesus Christ loves you. He's He will forgive your sins. He'll take care of your mess. If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, he'll set you free from that. Uh and and good things even, 35:43 even freedom, you know, speaking about uh not being sinful sexually and things like that. But I was never told your whole body ev- everything about you your plans, your comforts, your conveniences, 36:02 all of that must be offered as a living sacrifice to God. And if that's not done, then God [clears throat] cannot put his liv- his life in us. And we're thinking in this conference about manifesting the life of Christ. 36:19 And I think many people, as I even tried many years ago, thought that manifesting the life of Christ came through my trying to be like Christ. Oh, Christ did this. Okay, so let me try to do that. Oh, Christ did that other thing. And he 36:36 acted like this. Let me try to be like that. And it could be sincere. Could be well-intentioned. Could be sincere. But the only way we can truly manifest the life of Christ is if our life has been offered up as a living 36:52 sacrifice. If it's been crucified, if it's been eliminated, if it's burnt up. See, what actually happens when you put something as a sacrifice? If you put the offering on the sac- on the altar as a sacrifice, 37:10 and you come back a day later, and you still see that bull still sitting there, you would say, "That wasn't a sacrifice. That's some pretense. I said I was putting it, but I didn't actually put it." If I really put the bull on the altar, 37:26 and it was lit on fire, when I come back the next day, there will be nothing left, just ashes. And if I say today, Lord, I have offered my body as a living sacrifice, the proof of that should be that at some point down the road, maybe tomorrow or 37:44 next week, there should be less of me. I should be thinking less about my own comforts and what my own reputation and my own goals and ambitions and desires and pleasures. And yet, that's not what you see in Christianity. And it's no wonder that 38:03 there's a lot of work going on in the name of Jesus Christ, but I wonder, I doubt that much of that is really the church that Jesus Christ is building. The church that Jesus Christ is building is consists of people who have his life in him. Because the 38:19 life the the church is called the body of Christ. And picture it exactly like our body. It's a It's a accurate analogy, accurate comparison. Jesus Christ is the head, and he has his life in him. And his body, the church, also has the 38:38 same life in him. There's not two lives here. It's not one life in the head and a different life in the body. In my body, I have the same life consistently through the head and the body. And it's the same as the true same as 38:54 true with the spiritual body of Christ as well. That the same life that Jesus had, the head, once he's connected to the body, the body has the same life as well. And as I said earlier, the only way we can have that life is if 39:10 our bodies have been offered as a living sacrifice. This is what it means to build the church. In John chapter 1, if you turn there with me, please. John chapter 1, we read in verse 4, John 1, verse 4, "In him was life, 39:34 and the life was the light of men." Um and it goes on to say again that um we beheld his glory, verse 17. Um um No, sorry, verse 14. This life was a glorious life, full of 39:51 grace and truth. And so this life was the light of men. And Jesus said when when he was in the world, "I am the light of the world." And then he said in Matthew chapter 5, "You are the light of the world." In another place he said, "While I am in 40:10 the world, I am the light of the world." And so we are now the light of the world, I hope. And you've heard it from my dad before that if anybody asks at least a CFC member who is the light of the world, the answer should be, I am. 40:26 And we should be able to answer that honestly. Uh most almost every church, you go to them and ask them who's the light of the world, they say Jesus is. is teaching some things. 40:46 They wanted to see, what is this new teaching? They said they came to Philip in verse 21 and said, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." And Philip told Andrew and Andrew came and told Jesus. What would you thought if, you know, 41:01 imagine that some of the great scholars came from Oxford or Cambridge and Harvard and all that came to CFC Bangalore and said, "Hey, we hear you're teaching some new things." What would we say? Some new philosophy. How would we feel? 41:18 And Jesus said, "Here's what Here's my philosophy, you can say. Verse 24, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. 41:36 This is manifesting the life of Jesus through dying, through becoming nothing. Now, I am I think personally that you don't hear about the Greeks after this. I think they left and they they went back to their whoever sent 41:52 them and said, "Uh this Jesus uh no, it's not, you know, not like Socrates. Nothing impressive. We asked him about him about what his teaching is and he said, 'Oh, it just means to die. Die to yourself.' And I pray that 42:08 when people come into our midst, if the message of the way of the cross and death to self and decreasing so that Christ can increase is not interesting to them that they will turn away and say, "No, yeah, this is not anything." 42:24 Go to that other church. Oh, they've got some They explain it really well and they do exegetical and um apologetics and they explain they use good words and very well organized sermons. What we must glory in is that we are a 42:41 church that is dying, a church that has gone into the ground and dying. And that's a small work, you know, think Jesus picked a grain of wheat, which is a very small thing. And that grain of wheat Think about it. If you feel like you're 42:56 a small member of the body of Christ, insignificant. You're not as insignificant as a grain of wheat. That's even smaller. It's just a grain of wheat. And then that grain of wheat that already feels insignificant is then called to 43:12 fall into the ground and get mixed up with the dirt and hidden. It was a small enough as it is. Then God's purpose for that wheat, that's you and I, who want to manifest the life of Christ, He says, "You're just a grain of wheat. Don't think 43:29 you're so important or big or gifted or anything like that. You're just a grain of wheat. But have faith that through this grain of wheat I am going to manifest the glorious life of Christ." But this grain of wheat in order for that life of Christ to be 43:43 manifest must go into the ground and get mixed up with the dirt Okay, can't see it now. I was small, now I'm hidden. Disappeared. It's not over. That grain of wheat must fall into the ground and must die. Decrease. 44:05 And if you thought that that you humble yourself enough, the message of today for us is no, let's let's go further. You haven't humbled yourself to the point of death like Jesus did. And that's our destination. We want to 44:21 humble ourselves to the point of death, but in that death God is able to bring life out of it. There's a beautiful picture we read in the book of Zechariah of a vision that Zechariah received. Zechariah chapter 4. 44:57 In Zechariah 4 um we let's begin reading in verse 1. The The angel who was speaking with me returned and roused me as a man who is awakened from his sleep. He said to me, "What do you see?" And he I said, "I see and behold a 45:16 lampstand." Now, a lampstand is actually very small. It's a very small thing. I could hold it in my hand. A lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it. And you see the same picture of the lampstand. This is a picture of the 45:31 church. You see that also in Revelation chapter 1 that Jesus is holding the lampstand. So, here's a picture of the church, a little thing, a little lampstand with a bowl on top of it. And and it's seven lamps on it with 45:43 seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it. Also, two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other on its left side. Then I said to the angel who was speaking to me saying, "What are 45:59 these, my lord?" Uh maybe we can skip down in six. Then I said, um then he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit,' says the Lord of hosts." 46:19 So, let's pause there for a moment. Here's this little lampstand and olive trees that are feeding this lamp with olive oil to keep the lamp burning. A very small thing, the lampstand. Why does he say then, "Not by might, not 46:33 by power, but by my spirit," says the Lord? Because right behind this, right in front of this lampstand, was a great mountain. Cuz then he says in verse seven, "What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain, and 46:49 he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of grace, grace to it." So, here you see that God was showing that the what that the that this great mountain wouldn't be taken down by some other big force. It was a little 47:06 lampstand, a little lampstand held in in Jesus' hand, a picture again of the life of Christ. And there we see that answer again, dear brothers, that the secret to overcoming whatever it is in our life, whether it's temptations we face, 47:24 uh situations in our marriages and our homes, the attack of Satan against the church, the only way to triumph over that, whatever that great mountain that's in your way, whatever it might be, even if it is a habitual sin, 47:38 even if it is something that's been defeating you and and uh ensnared you for many years. Think of that like a great mountain, a mountain of lust maybe, or a mountain of not being able to control your tongue, a mountain of uh 47:51 worry and anxiety about your future, mountain about um concerns with your children perhaps if they're not following the Lord. Whatever that mountain is, the way that God is going to take out that mountain is through a something small. 48:07 Small in the eyes of the world. That's why the work that God has always done on this earth has been small. Begins that way. Paul speaks on this much. If we turn to 2 Corinthians chapter 3. 2 Corinthians chapter 3. 48:36 I I really am blessed and in challenged by Paul when he wrote even to carnal churches like the church in Corinth. He didn't try to impress them with how um, expert he was, how much of an expert he 48:54 was in speaking, or how gifted he was, and he was unashamed over the fact that he was an apostle, but he said it with humility. And he said, "Yeah, I I'm an apostle not because I want to be, but God chose me." But then he says, "I'm 49:07 the least of the apostles." Paul was always diminishing himself. And when he would correct when he wanted to correct the church in Corinth, he didn't come as if he's some big expert or anything like that. He said, "I'm weak." 49:23 And in that weakness he corrected the church in Corinth. And here he writes another letter to them, and just disciplined them. Now they've fixed the issue, and he's writing to them as an apostle. But look at this, he says, 2 49:36 Corinthians 3:4, "Such confidence we have through Christ toward God, not that we are adequate in ourselves." I don't know exactly when Paul wrote 2 Corinthians, but he'd been an apostle for some time. He had been blameless according to the 49:53 law, we read in Philippians 3. That was even before he met Christ. And then he met Christ and radically converted, where within 3 years he was ready to be the mightiest apostle of God. After being the greatest terrorist 50:09 against the church, within 3 years he was the greatest apostle. And yet he says that we are not that we are adequate within ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves. Look at Paul, he's saying, "If God is using 50:28 me in any way, nothing of that is coming from me. That is a grain of wheat that has fallen into the ground and truly died. Become nothing. Nothing is coming from myself. I covet this testimony. Paul was in line cuz the Holy Spirit bore witness to it. 50:46 And I say, "Lord, I want you to make it so that when people see me and they they experience the life of Christ in me, it will be that nothing came from me." If if if my wife appreciates me as my husband, I'll say, "It didn't come from 51:03 me. I'm not a good husband. Whatever being a good husband came from me was Christ." Or my children say, "You're a good father." It won't be Santosh being a good father, but Christ. What a wonderful goal to set for ourselves. 51:18 Nothing coming from ourselves. The middle of verse 5. Okay, we'll continue reading. But our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the spirit, for this letter kills, but the spirit gives 51:37 life. Very powerful testimony. Similar words. Let's go to 1 Corinthians chapter 1. And again, like I said, this is Paul about to discipline the church in Corinth in the first letter for some serious sins. I mean, they were greedy when they came to the 51:55 breaking of bread. That one man was living in sin with his father's wife, sexual sin. All kinds of evil sinful practices going on in the church in Corinth. And here he is, right? The purpose of writing this letter is to strongly 52:11 rebuke them. And look at what he says. 1 Corinthians 1 verse 18. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God. Uh for it is written, I will destroy the 52:31 wisdom of the wise and the cleverness of the clever I will set aside. Um Let's skip down a few verses. Uh um Verse 22. For indeed, Jews ask for signs, 52:48 and Greeks search for wisdom. And today you could add uh people search for something else, technology or ability or good uh speaking and a nice church buildings and good music and all the the world is looking for all of this, but we preach 53:06 Christ crucified. This death that we are we were just talking about. That's what we preach. And the result is that to the world, it becomes a stumbling block. To the Jews, it's a stumbling block. And to the Gentiles, it's foolishness. 53:23 And that's the reality even today that the true preaching, if all we preach is this message of Christ crucified and our I being crucified with Christ, like Paul says in another place, Galatians 2:20, if we preach that, they'll say, "Ah, 53:39 let's find some other church." To the Jews, it's a stumbling block, to the Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness 53:54 of God, and this is I love this verse, it's almost humorous, well, the way the Holy Spirit writes it through Paul, the foolishness of God is wiser than men. And the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brethren, 54:10 that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble. This is the church that Jesus is building. God has hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent, we read in Matthew 11:25. Similar words here, that God hides these 54:27 things. If we come to God with some ability, some capability, some confidence in I can contribute this to the church, then God says, "No, you're not going to see it." But the ones who come and say, "Lord, uh whatever I am, I give myself fully to 54:42 you, and I'm willing for you to crush me, I'm willing to fall into the ground and die." God says, "Okay, I'm going to use you." And the world will think of you as um not wise, not mighty, not noble. But God is, verse 27, chosen the foolish 55:01 things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world, and the despised God has chosen, the things Look at this progression. 55:18 Uh foolish, verse 27. Uh weak. Okay, I think that's a little bit lower, weak. Then uh base. Base means like good-for-nothing. Verse 28. And the things that are not, zero. 55:38 It just keeps getting lower and lower and lower. You see that progression in 27? Foolish, weak, good-for-nothing, zero. This is the journey we're headed on. And for us men who are taught in the world and who are trained in the world to be powerful and 55:54 strong and oh, you know, I can handle it on my own. I got this and macho and going to the gym and all that. This is foolishness. The strength of Christ is our weakness. So that And why does God do that? So that he may nullify the things that are. 56:14 Verse 21, so that no man may boast before God. But by his doing you are in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. So that just as it is written, let him who boasts 56:30 boast in the Lord. And when I came to you, listen, Paul says that's how I lived. When he came to the church in Corinth, he didn't think about coming to them and impressing them with his speech. He didn't plan He didn't think about how 56:44 can I word my sermons in such a way? I remember one of the first exhortations my dad gave me many years ago when I was starting to have a a ministry. He said, "Santosh, you have a choice. You could impress people with your 56:57 preaching or you could bless them. You can't do both." And here's Paul saying, "I didn't come trying to impress you. And when I came to you, brethren, chapter 2 verse 1, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom 57:12 proclaiming to you the testimony of God. Because I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. And my message and my preaching were not 57:27 in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. These are very serious words, and I believe and I've seen this in my own life, and 57:43 I'll confess that, that there were times when I tried to speak in a way that was impressive and connect all the points together. And I was young, immature. God has taught me much through the example of godly preachers who I see speak in 57:58 simplicity, not trying to impress people. But I believe that there's a lot of preaching going on in in the world today that is the wisdom of men. It is a wisdom. It but it's the wisdom of men, and that is the work that will not remain. That 58:16 is wood, hay, and straw. If the church that we build, if the families that we raise, if the wives that we lead, if we do that out of the wisdom of men, then I I might stay married to my wife. I might have a a family that looks good to others, but 58:36 it will not last in the fire. It is only the power of God. And I I am seek to constantly examine my life to see, Lord, in whatever I'm doing, whether it's dealing with my children, uh in interacting with my wife, or with my 58:53 brothers and sisters in the church, or in the workplace, or when I preach, whatever it might be, is it the wisdom of men? Then this entire thing that I did is going to come to waste. Think about it. If my children, what they heard from me in the years 59:09 that they were in my home, if what they heard from me was the wisdom of men, that it's just going to be a waste. It's going to burn up. And it's like that first quote I I mentioned from D.L. Moody, our greatest fear should not be of failure, 59:25 but of succeeding in something that will not matter. Let me paraphrase that. I fear that not that my children will fail in something, but that they will succeed in something that won't matter. Think about it, you're fathers. Are we 59:40 raising our children to be successful in something that won't matter? I would rather them fail and make mistakes, but through that failure that they come to know Jesus and the power of God. Are we Are we We should fear that our marriages 59:59 are are not that are are successful in the eyes of the world, but are meaningless and don't matter if they are not come from the power of God. So, very strong reminder. Let's turn a few pages later to 1 Corinthians chapter 15. 1:00:22 1 Corinthians 15 verse 35. We heard about the grain of wheat that falls into the ground and dies. The small insignificant grain of wheat disappears into the ground and then dies. This This is the journey. We saw that even in what 1:00:40 Paul was saying is that journey, continual journey downwards. The only way to grow in the Christian life I've come to see from hearing godly teaching and from seeing from making mistakes in my own life, the only way to grow There's only one way to grow 1:00:55 in the Christian life, and that is this is this constant way of decreasing. The constant path downward. Let's make it practical. Let's make it real, brothers. In the last week, have have I really decreased in my own opinion of myself? 1:01:13 Have I actually decreased in my opinion of myself, you know, what my own thoughts about myself? If not, I haven't grown. Or let's say in the last 6 months, have I decreased in how I think about myself, in my confidence in my own capability? 1:01:30 If that hasn't If I haven't decreased, then I'm I'm not I haven't grown spiritually. And I could have a ministry, I could be preaching, I could be leading the singing, I could be serving in the church in many ways, I could be sitting 1:01:42 in church in the church for a period of time that's increasing, but my Christ-likeness is not increasing because I am not decreasing. And so, uh here Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:35, "Someone will say, 'How are the dead raised? You're telling me that this 1:02:00 grain of wheat, which was something, must become hidden and then die?' How is that God's way? That I would think it's supposed to get bigger. How is going down going to rely result in growth? How are the dead raised? And with what 1:02:19 kind of body do they come?" Look at what the Holy Spirit says, "You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies." And I remember some years ago, this I felt like the Holy Spirit was telling this to me, "Santosh, you fool! 1:02:39 You've been trying to accomplish the work of God, you've been trying to overcome sin, you've been trying to do this and trying to do that without dying. It's impossible. You're a fool!" And that's the word the Holy Spirit is 1:02:53 saying to us as well today. If I try to live this Christian life or do something in the kingdom of God without dying, I'm a fool. And better do I realize it now and do something about it rather than get to the end of my life 1:03:13 and God say, "You fool!" Remember Jesus told a parable once about a man who he didn't do anything necessarily bad, but he just when he's when some things got went well, he planned, "How can I make it bigger? How can I build a bigger barn?" 1:03:29 And that we could easily bring that mindset into the church. How can I make it How can I expand my ministry? How can I do a little bit more of this? Jesus says, "You fool. This night your life will be required of you. You fool. The only way to grow is 1:03:45 through death. You fool. That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And that which you sow, you do not sow the body which it which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something, but God gives it a body 1:04:05 just as he wished and to each of the seeds a body of its own. Here's how I understand this. That and you can meditate on it sometime and ask the Lord to make it real and give you revelation on it. But how I understand it is that God 1:04:18 wants to give me a spiritual body, which is the life of Christ. But he cannot give me that body if my body is still alive. I can't have two bodies in one. And so, that's why he says, "This body, Santosh, this body I've given you, you 1:04:31 must die. I want to bless you with Christ's life, the body of Christ's life in you, this new body. But like he says here, God gives it a body. The only thing that will remain in eternity, thinking about the fruit that 1:04:50 will remain, thinking about uh uh uh not succeeding in that which won't remain. I want only that which will remain, Lord. And the only thing that will remain is that body which God has given. And God will only give that body to the 1:05:07 grain of wheat that has died. God gives it a body just as he wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. This is what I covet. I pray that CFC Bangalore [clears throat] and the church here, RLCF, will be grains this 1:05:23 this as it's described here in verse 38. Seeds Each seed has been given a new body by Christ, the life by God, the life of Christ. That's the testimony of our church. Let's continue reading and skip down to verse 42. So also is the resurrection of 1:05:42 the dead. It is sown a perishable body. What I am giving to God is a perishable body. I might as well give it to him when he asks me to give my body as a living sacrifice. I might as well give it to him because it's a dying body. 1:05:55 Whatever abilities I have, whatever ambitions I have, it's perishing. So So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body. It is raised an imperishable body. It is sown in dishonor. Please listen carefully, dear brothers. 1:06:13 This is the way I long to go and I disbelieve the way that we should go as a church. It is sown in dishonor. Think about it. CFC is sown in dishonor. It was. They were kicked out. Those two brothers, my dad and brother Ian, were 1:06:27 kicked out of that church dishonorably discharged. You're not good enough to be here. Sown in dishonor. It is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness. It is raised in power. It is sown a natural body. God's given you a natural 1:06:46 body. Isn't it a marvelous mystery that when I give my natural body as it is, God gives me a spiritual body. It's like magic. I I I hate to even use that word, but it's it's a miracle. It's It's It's a real miracle that I can give my earthly 1:07:03 body which is good for nothing, which is getting older by the minute, which is getting weaker by the minute. And God says, "You give me that weak body and I will give you transform it into a spiritual body that will last forever." 1:07:16 It is sown it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. Wonderful verse here, wonderful passage that challenges us. I remember some years ago um 1:07:36 few years ago, we'd gone through a very difficult time as a church and we shrunk to very small number. We were bigger number and then there was some turmoil and many many left and and then we were left with just a handful of people. 1:07:50 And we still had this big building that we were in. And we were we usually meet for prayer before the meeting. And that prayer room used to be packed with people praying. And within a few few Sundays later, it was just a handful of people. 1:08:07 And as I was kneeling down to pray I looked around and I saw more empty spaces than than bodies, more empty chairs than than people. Then then and I thought, "Lord, what is this? Are you are you really here? Are we wasting 1:08:23 our time? This this seems so empty." And the words of Paul from 2 Corinthians chapter 12 came to my mind immediately. I It's like the Lord was speaking to me saying, "Santosh, I'm trying to bring you to the place where you will glory in 1:08:40 your weakness." Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12 if you turn there with me, 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9 "Most gladly" in the middle of that verse he says, "Most gladly therefore I will boast I will rather boast about my 1:08:58 weaknesses." And I thought about as I was kneeling down there and praying and I was meditating on that. I thought, "Lord, if if somebody asks, why should I come to that church? They have some some reason why that's a good church to 1:09:11 go to or that other church, they've got some good music or that other church, they've got a lot of money or this church has some good youth program and this church all the politicians like to go there and this is the popular church 1:09:23 and this church is doing a lot of missions. What do we have? We're weak. We're nothing." And Paul, Paul wasn't quoting anything. For him, he was speaking from his heart. He was speaking the truth. He was saying, "Believers in Corinth, I want you to 1:09:40 know, when I look at my weaknesses, I glory in that. That's what I boast about. I am excited. I want to tell you about my weaknesses because I have seen this marvelous truth that God brings his glory into weakness." And I've never forgotten that moment and 1:09:59 I said, "Lord, and even though our church now was grown and we filled up the building again." I said, "Lord, keep us as a weak church. Keep us weak, Lord. Let it be that every one of us can say what I glory in about myself and about this church is our 1:10:13 weakness." Let's read the whole verse now. Second Corinthians 12:9. He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you. My grace is sufficient for you." That means, "My grace is all you need. You don't need to bring any ability. You 1:10:28 just need my grace. And in order for you to bring for you to have my grace, you must be weak and you must be broken and you must be um uh good-for-nothing and you must be dead. My grace is enough for you. You don't need anything else. You don't need 1:10:45 money. You don't even need a building. You My grace is sufficient for you for power is perfected in weakness." Or as one translation translation says, "My power shows up best in weak people. Do you want to be the best member in 1:11:00 RLCF in in CFC? I want to be the best member at RLCF, but not best in terms of the world's I want to be the best in terms of God's opinion. Yes, that's my useful servant. He says, "You want to be the best? You have to be the weakest." 1:11:18 The most valuable person in the church right now is the weakest one. The one who sees their weakness. They could have abilities. They could have gifts. Yes, God gives gifts, but they see their weakness and they value their weakness 1:11:34 because their weakness, their emptiness, their nothingness allows Christ to fill more. And I pray that that will be the testimony of our lives. I'll close with one more passage in Ezekiel chapter 37. You probably know this story 1:11:56 of uh the valley of dry bones. See, this weakness I I I want to before I'm going into this story, I want to make a point here and that is weakness doesn't mean 1:12:14 um unbelief. Weakness doesn't mean saying, "Oh, I'm good for nothing, Lord. You can never use me." That's not weakness. Weakness is real power. You look at the confidence Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12. He's saying weakness and he's as if he's 1:12:30 saying he's excited about it and he's bold. He's not sitting there timid. Weakness is not timidity. Weakness is not unbelief or discouragement or saying, "Oh, I'm I'm helpless. I cannot do anything." Weakness is power. You know that you really seen your 1:12:48 weakness if you have greater power. Think about what I just said. You will know that you have really seen your weakness if the result is that there's more power in your life, the power of God, more boldness, more prophetic words on your tongue because 1:13:08 you've seen your weakness. Weakness, true weakness, will always result in the power of God being manifest. If I say I am weak, but I'm still timid and shy and sitting lazily in the church, not being useful to the Lord, then that's not real weakness. That is 1:13:24 an earthly weakness, a false weakness. The true weakness, when God sees it, he pours his power into that weak vessel, and that vessel becomes bold and useful to the Lord. So, say, "Lord, I've I've forgive me for fooling myself that I 1:13:40 thought I was weak and good for nothing by sitting lazily in the church. Lord, show me how weak I really am. Help me to really die so that you can give me your life so that your power can be manifest in me." That's real weakness. 1:13:56 Real weakness will result in real power. I pray that that I long for that, brothers, in my own life, that I don't want to fool myself. I know I used to fool myself saying, "Oh, I'm I'm so weak. I'm so weak." And I would say, 1:14:08 "No, Santosh, you're not weak. If you were really weak, you would have my power. And you would overcome sin. So, truly become weak now. Allow the Lord to break you The Lord has said, "Allow me to break you." And as I'm allowing him to do that, I'm 1:14:24 finding power in that weakness. Ezekiel 37, uh I won't read the whole story in the interest of time, but there's this valley of uh full of bones in verse one you read. And Ezekiel is taken through that around and about verse two. There were very 1:14:41 many on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry. And he said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" And as you think about the dry bones in your life, maybe there's an area of dryness in your life. You think of And the Lord's asking you 1:14:58 today, let's say, "Can these dry bones live?" If I'm proud, I'll say, "Yeah, yes, Lord. I can live. We We can do it. I can do it." Um and if I'm if I am unbelieving, I'll say, "No, Lord, there's no hope. There's 1:15:17 I'm discouraged." But look at what Ezekiel's answer is. He's not presumptuous. Presumptuous means, "Yeah, sure, Lord. I We can do it." He said to me, "This is weakness." Weakness is not discouragement. Weakness is not saying no. 1:15:32 "Can these dry bones live?" If the answer was no, that's unbelief. If the answer was, "Yes, Lord, they can," that's pride. Look at his answer. He says, "This is a mark of weakness." "Oh, Lord, you know." "You tell me, Lord. 1:15:49 What is it that you want to do? Do you want these dry bones to live? Then they will live, Lord. Lord, this area in my life, do you Do you want to bring that to to victory in that area? Do you want to Do you want to use me in this particular 1:16:02 way or you that particular way? I have I'm so weak, I don't have an opinion, Lord. I want it to be done your way, not my way. See, my way could be yes or no. God's way is, "Lord, I don't know. You know." I love that answer that 1:16:20 Ezekiel gives. "Oh, Lord, you know." And And God says, "Okay. You're willing to trust me? I will do it." And he'll breathe, and breath came in. You read the rest of that story. "Lord, you know." That "Lord, you know." opened the floodgates for the Holy 1:16:38 Spirit to come in and raise up a mighty army there. That's the prayer of my own heart, dear brothers, for myself, for my marriage, for my home, my children, the church that God has given me the responsibility for, and for you all as well. I I pray 1:16:53 that today our response will be, Lord, you know, I I I I quit fighting. I quit striving. I just want to be still and let you take over, Lord. Let you fill me with your Holy Spirit in that stillness, in that weakness, in that 1:17:07 emptiness. I'm simply opening the gate to you, Lord, today and saying, Lord, you know, come and fill my heart, and I believe you will breathe life into this army. Another man that challenged me is George Müller. Not because 1:17:23 he did miracles. You'll read about his stories that he uh you know, how he would sit down to pray uh with the orphans, and the orphans would say, "Well, what are we praying for? There's no food." They said, "Yep, but God's going to 1:17:36 provide." And as he was praying, the doorbell would ring, and somebody would bring bread. And another time it was milk, and miracles that God did. That's not what impressed me about George Müller. What has impressed me the most about 1:17:47 this man of faith was Well, two things. One is that he prayed for I believe three or four very specific people, and he didn't stop praying for them. That was his one I think his greatest act of faith, that he prayed for them, and all of them 1:18:03 were converted. Two of them after he died. Such faith that his prayers outlived him. Prayers lived on after he died because they were faith in a living God. But what I was going to mention here was there's a quote of his that when he was 1:18:21 92 years old or so, somebody asked him, "George Müller, what's the secret of your success? How did you have such a successful ministry? How were you useful to the Lord all these years?" And he gave a very honest answer. He 1:18:34 said, "There was a the when George Müller died. He's talking about in the past at the age of 92. He says, "There was a day when George Müller died. Utterly died. Died to himself, his opinions, his preferences, his tastes, and his will. 1:18:53 Died to the world, its approval or censure." Censure means criticism. Died to the approval or blame even of my brethren and friends. I stopped caring even about what my brethren and friends would say about me, whether they approved of me or blamed 1:19:13 me. And since then, I only show myself approved to God. And some years ago, 2018, I wrote this down in a book. So, there was a day when Santosh died. I said, "Lord, I want that to be true. I want this to be that day that I died." 1:19:32 There's a day when RLCF died. Utterly died. Died to ourselves, our opinions, our preferences, our tastes, and will. Died to the world, its approval or criticism. Cuz around that time, we were facing a lot of criticism. People were 1:19:47 speaking a lot of evil of us and still do. Died to the approval or blame even of our brethren and friends. We experienced that, too. And since then, we only show ourselves approved to God. I go back and read that quote often. I say, "Lord, is that still true? 1:20:03 Is that still really true? Have I having died all those years ago, am I still dead? I pray that you will preserve me that way." And this is the way, brothers, I believe. I really see it. I believe it with all of my heart. I see 1:20:17 it in God's word. I see it in the examples of godly people who have gone ahead of us. And I believe this is how God will build his church through those who have died. You remember that church in Sardis? You have a name that you are 1:20:30 alive, but you are dead. I thought about the opposite of that. The true church of Jesus Christ, let it be said about CFC, you have a name that you are dead, but you are alive. This is what God we want God's approval. Everybody thinks you're a dead church. 1:20:44 They come in. In fact, we had one person come to our church some years ago and say, "Oh, you're a dead church." Because we weren't there weren't uh we weren't um there weren't enough amens during the sermon or something like that, he said. 1:20:57 So, we have a name that you are dead. No, um but whether people think we're dead or not doesn't matter, but God to attest you are alive. No matter what people think of us. So, let's pray. Heavenly Father, I pray that all of us, Lord, will will find 1:21:15 what this truth means for us practically, that it won't just be some theory, but each of us will know in front of us, what is that situation where you want me like that grain of wheat to fall into the ground. Where is it that you're calling me to fall into 1:21:29 the ground? And where is it that you're calling me to die? It's very practical, Lord. I believe it. Show me. Is it Is it with Is it with our wives? Is it with our children? Is it with the rest of our day that we'll spend together in this conference? 1:21:42 Wherever it might be, Lord, show us specifically through your Holy Spirit where it is you want us to fall into the ground and die. We do want to go that way. We offer our bodies as a living sacrifice and believe that that's the 1:21:54 spiritual service of worship that will be acceptable and pleasing to you. Thank you, Lord. You will do it. In Jesus' name we ask. Amen. Thank you, brother Santosh. 1:22:17 So refreshing to hear you. >> [clears throat] >> Um as our theme is manage manifesting the life of Christ. I was thinking about this verse uh which came so powerfully to me. Uh John 3 30. So, NASB says 1:22:36 uh he must increase uh uh and but I must decrease. So, what brother Santosh was emphasizing was don't keep the seed in your showcase and don't polish it and go and bury it. 1:22:54 Let it die so that it can produce life. Um a message Bible says like this. This is the assigned moment for him to move into the center while I slip off to the sidelines. That means what John the Baptist was saying uh I must 1:23:12 decrease so that Christ will increase. That's how the life of uh Christ is manifested in us, produced through us, in us. Praise the Lord uh for the examples uh um like what brother was emphasizing, what he has tasted. Wherever the death has 1:23:31 worked, the life has come forth.
