And if a man of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. If not, that peace will return to you. 1:27 So, we read that Jesus told his disciples to look for a house where there is peace. And he told his disciples, verse 7, stay in that house. 1:50 And don't go away from that house. Supposing the disciples of Jesus came to your house. Would he find your house to be a house of peace? 2:13 He didn't tell them to look for a house that is rich. Of course, if they stay in a rich person's house, it is more comfortable. But he said, don't look for that. He did not tell them to look for whoever is the most influential person in that village. 2:43 He said, look for a house where you sense in your spirit there is peace in this house. Now, what does it mean to have a house in which there is peace? 3:04 Peace means there is no quarrelling, there is no fighting. He didn't tell them, look for a house where they never make any mistakes. There is no such house. 3:27 In every house, we make mistakes. Sometimes, we may say a word in anger. Even to each other. But, if you immediately apologize. 3:51 The house will be a house of peace. See, if your house is leaking in the rainy season. You will do something just to stop that. You don't have to change the whole roof, but just that small piece that is leaking. 4:19 Now, if you don't fix it, it is going to keep on dripping, dripping, dripping. You must immediately stop it. Otherwise, the whole house will be flooded. And we don't like to sleep with the rain falling like that. 4:42 So, sin is like that. We can stop it immediately if we confess it. And so that the leak is stopped. But, if you don't confess it immediately. 5:04 Then it remains open and it is always leaking. So, here is a very simple solution. That we look at sin like a thorn getting into our foot. 5:33 You won't wait to take it out. Now, yesterday I was saying that we must look at sin as more serious than any sickness. And if you look at sin like a thorn getting into your foot. 6:01 In other words, something hurting your body is not as serious as something hurting your soul. So, if we look at it like that, then as soon as something hurts our body, we'll immediately remove the source of that hurt. 6:27 So, in the same way, we must immediately take away anything that hurts our soul. Then your house can be a house of peace. 6:49 And that's what Jesus is looking for. And if you are quick to settle matters with one another. Gradually, a time can come when you do not have any rude words to speak to one another. 7:15 Then your house will be a little bit like heaven. There are very few houses in the world like that. But you must strive to make your home like that so that your children can grow up in a home which is like heaven. 7:42 Don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen in one or two years. Every married couple goes through a period of struggle in the beginning. Even newly married couples who love the Lord with all their heart. 8:10 They will still have little struggle and all to come to a peace. The reason is, both of them are imperfect. If two perfect people get married, then of course they'll never have any difficulty. 8:35 But there is nobody perfect. All of us are sinners saved by grace. And so all of us are imperfect. And so two imperfect people get married. 8:58 However good they may be. And however they may love Jesus Christ. Because they are imperfect. There are going to be some problems between them. They cannot avoid it. 9:19 So you should not be surprised when that happens. You should not get discouraged. You should not think, oh I thought we'll have a perfect marriage from the day we get married. Yeah. 9:39 Your marriage can still become perfect. Your mistake was thinking that it'll be perfect from the first day. Nobody in the world has had a perfect marriage from the first day. We press on to perfection. 10:01 So the first thing I want to say is, don't get discouraged if you have little disagreements with each other. Don't get discouraged if even though you really want to have a peaceful home, something happened that disrupted the peace. 10:33 You lost your temper. Maybe you were so much under pressure one day, so many things going wrong in the house that you got upset. And when you have children, the children can irritate you so much that you can become very tense very easily. 11:01 That can happen to everybody. What I say is, as soon as the thorn gets into your foot, take it out. If you spoke a rude word or an angry word, at the first opportunity, 11:21 say, Lord, please forgive me. And go to your husband or wife. I'm sorry. This is very, very, very important. Because if you do this, I can promise you that you will have a very good home in a few years. 11:43 I'm not saying you'll have it in a few days. But I can say you'll have it in a few years. It takes time. Just like a child takes time to learn to walk. 12:05 Every new stage in life is like becoming a child again. When we are born again. That is like being a child again. 12:26 And then we have to learn over a period of time. And learn how to live in victory. And then you get married. That is a new stage again. Again, we become like a child. That means you have to learn how to walk now. 12:52 And a child may fall thousand times and get up. No child falls only two or three times and learns to walk. And the same way in marriage. When you fall, you'll get up. 13:12 All I say is when you fall, don't lie down there. Get up immediately. There's a brother who used to say. That you should not get up. You must like a ball bounce up. Supposing you fell into sin. 13:37 How quickly should you confess it? If you throw a ball to the ground. How long does it stay in the ground? Are you awake? It comes up immediately. So, as soon as you fall into sin. 13:59 Confess it immediately. As soon as you are aware of it. You may think this is a very simple advice I am giving you. But I tell you, after having seen married couples for many, many years. 14:22 I am telling you, the most important thing is to learn to get up immediately. That means, confess your sin to God. And ask forgiveness from one another. 14:42 Husband has to ask forgiveness from the wife. And the wife must ask forgiveness from the husband. And you may have to do this for many, many years. But if you keep doing it, it will become less and less and less and less. 15:02 You see how your child is not falling so frequently as it grows up. And then one day you are excited, it is walking without falling. But, it can still fall. You can fall even when you are 60 years old. 15:24 But, it is very rare. So, that is how the married life is. That, we grow just like a child grows. So, our aim must be to have a house of peace. The other thing you must remember that, is that Jesus must always be between you. 15:56 They did not have this privilege in Old Testament marriages. But, you know the promise in Matthew 18, verse 20. Where two are gathered together, there I am in the midst. So, you and your wife, or you and your husband are come together. 16:22 And if you have Jesus in the midst. You will be held together. I saw an advertisement for this Fevicol once. These carpenters use Fevicol to stick wood together. 16:48 And the advertisement was like this. These two pieces of wood stuck with Fevicol. And one elephant is pulling on each side. And can't separate it. They were saying Fevicol is so strong. 17:11 And I thought, what a wonderful picture of Jesus is in the middle. And one mother-in-law is pulling this side. One father-in-law is pulling that side. And they can be stronger than elephants sometimes. I will tell you. 17:34 But they cannot separate you. Because Jesus is in the midst. Don't let your mother-in-law come in the midst. Or mother or father. Oh, then you will just separate. 17:57 When you get married. You must love Jesus more than your mother and father. And you must love your marriage partner more than you love your mother and father. 18:18 Now you will hear that. But if you don't do it, you are going to have problems. I will tell you that. The number one problem in India's marriages in India. Christian marriages. 18:38 Is between husband and wife. It's not Jesus Christ. But father or mother. Either the husband's parents or the wife's parents. And then there will be separation. 19:02 I am not saying you should not love them or care for them. I mean, if they need money, you can help them. If you have to care for them physically, you can care for them. But that's all okay. 19:23 When Jesus cared for his mother when he was hanging on the cross. But when his mother tried to interfere in the marriage in Cana, he said, "Woman, what have I got to do with you?" 19:43 See, as long as he was living in the home, he listened to Mary. You know, Joseph had probably died many years earlier. But Jesus was submitting to Mary. But one day he left his home. 20:04 And that's just like you do when you get married. And then, after that, Jesus told his mother, "I've got nothing more to do with you." Now I'm in another ministry. So, when you get married, God wants you to have another home different from your old home. 20:27 See, even if you're poor and you have to stay with your parents. But then... But even then, be united with your wife or husband. Don't let your parents come between both of you. 20:49 The first command in the Bible. Do you know the first command in the Bible? I've often spoken about this. It's in Genesis chapter 2. 21:09 And... It says in verse... 24. "A man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife." And they shall become one. So, it's very important that we do that. 21:32 What that means is... That now when you take a decision... You can consult your parents. They've got a lot of wisdom. But you and your wife must take the decision together. 21:53 I want to ask you husbands... How many of you like to be like a king in your house? Yeah, that's good. God wants you to be the king. Are you happy to hear that? Now, I will tell you the best way to become the king in your house. 22:20 You want to hear it? Treat your wife like a queen. Uh-huh. You understood that? You treat your wife like a queen, you'll be the king. Don't let her be the boss in your house. 22:40 The man must be the leader. Do you know the biggest, the first mistake that man made? Adam. When he saw his wife talking to the devil... 23:02 He kept quiet. Why did he keep quiet? Why did he keep quiet? He should have pulled his wife and said, "Get away from here. Don't talk to this devil." The story in Genesis 3 may have been different. 23:27 So, I want to say that God wants you as the husband to be the head of your home. He doesn't want you to be like the tail following your wife wherever she goes. No, he wants you to be the head. He wants you to take the decision in your home. 23:50 And do you know that he wants you to bring up the children, not your wife? Let me ask you a question. What does it say in the Bible? Who should bring up their children in the fear of the Lord? 24:11 Is it father and mother? No. It says in Ephesians 6. Ephesians 6. Verse 4. Fathers. Don't provoke your children to anger. Bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. 24:35 It is the responsibility of the father to make sure the children understand the word of God. Now, if sisters, if your husband is a useless person, then you have to do it. You know, just like if your husband is paralyzed, then you have to go to work and earn for the family. 25:01 So, if your husband is spiritually paralyzed and he doesn't take care of the children, He doesn't take responsibility to bring up the children in the fear of God. Then you must do it. 25:23 But if you are the father, you must, it is your responsibility, fathers, to bring up your children in the fear of God. And all of you fathers, if you don't bring up your children in the fear of God. 25:45 Then you must not say that you are the head of the house. How can you be the head of your house if you don't bring up your children in the fear of God? You know why all these sisters are covering their heads? You know what they mean by covering their heads? 26:07 They are saying, My husband is my head. This is the meaning of covering the head. My husband is the head of my home. He guides the home. He is the one who brings up the children in the fear of God. 26:29 But if you are a father, and you don't bring up your children in the fear of God, you don't take responsibility for things in the house, then I have a recommendation for you brothers. 26:50 You brothers must put a cloth over your head and come to the meeting. Come to the meeting and put the scarf on your head and say, I am not taking responsibility in my house for my children. 27:13 Tell your wife to remove that from her head. Because you are the head now of the house. Do you want to do that? You must be the head in your house. You must take responsibility. You must be an example. 27:37 See, the Bible says that the husband is the head of the wife, like Christ is the head of the church. In Ephesians chapter 5, verse 23, like Christ is the head of the church, 27:59 so the husband is the head of the wife. Now how is Christ the head of the church? He doesn't take a whip and chase me, saying I am the head. No. 28:19 He loves me and leads me like a shepherd. Christ doesn't walk behind me, he walks in front of me. To be an example. 28:42 That is how you must be towards your wife. You must be an example. That is how you can be the head. Look at my life. Follow me. If you see something wrong in your wife, 29:03 you must see whether you yourself have got that problem. Then you must overcome first. Otherwise you cannot tell her to follow your example. Jesus did not live a defeated life and say follow my example. So the primary responsibility for leadership is with the man. 29:29 That is the meaning of you brothers not covering your head. That means I am the leader. What does leader mean? Does a leader go behind or in front? Leader is one who goes in front. 29:50 And says follow my example. So you must pray that God will give you the power of the spirit. To be an example in your home. That is the way God wants every Christian home to be. And the bible says that a woman must submit to the husband like the church submits to Christ. 30:15 Just like the body submits to the head. This body for my hands for example. They are not ashamed to submit to the head. 30:35 But the head has got a concern for the hand. See a husband must not be a head like some head of the government like chief minister or prime minister or something. Because sometimes a leader of a country can be like a dictator. 30:57 He can order people do this, do that. But that is not the way we do it in the church. We lead like Jesus leads us. 31:18 Now I don't know what you speak in the Tamil language. But when I was in Kerala. I found most of the husbands will call their wives Eddie. I don't know. 31:40 Do you do that in Tamil Nadu also? Yes? I hope not in our church. So I had to teach the people in Kerala in our churches. I said you must never say podi, vadi, edi not to your wife. 32:05 So one brother came to me. And said brother it is out of love that I say that. Edi, vadi, it's love. So I said why don't you allow her also to love you and call you Ada, Poda, Vada. 32:29 She also loves you. Oh, no, no, no, no, I don't want her. That proves it is not love. That is not the way to do it. 32:49 Have you ever heard Jesus say to you, Vada? He never talks to me like that. Zach, Vada! He never tells me like that. Do you ever hear Jesus speaking to you like that? 33:11 If Almighty God doesn't speak like that, how can you speak like that to your wives? Not only that. I said even to the children, you don't say Vada, Poda, Edi, Vadi. I changed it completely. 33:32 And so many brothers and families have completely got rid of that habit in that house. One brother wrote in this house also, in this house nobody says Ada, Vada, Poda to anybody. Or Eddie, Poda or anything. 33:55 Even to children. They say in Malayalam, they say Mone, Mole, with these enduring names. You know, we must speak to our children in love. Not like some dictator. Or some military man. 34:15 No, it's not the way. We are not running a military in our house. You know, in these words, sometimes you show your spirit. Now, if you have used Edi, Vadi, Poda for the last so many years, you are not going to get rid of it tomorrow. 34:39 But you try. Like a child learning to walk. And if, by mistake, you tomorrow tell your wife, Vadi, already. You must allow your wife to say, 35:00 What is the endearing way in which you speak to your husband? Is there a word in Tamil for darling or honey or sweetheart or anything like that? Say that. Say that. Tanne, Manie. Whatever you call each other. 35:23 Isn't that better than Eddie and Vadi? Then the wife must say, What is it? What is the right word? Tanne, Tanne, Manie. Remember what Brother Zach said. We should try and get rid of those words in our house. 35:45 And if you allow your wife to remind you, I tell you by next year's conference, you would have got rid of that habit. If you allow your wife to do it, I can prophesy. By next year, you would have changed your habit. 36:09 And you know, our words have got a power. It says in the Proverbs, the tongue can be like a tree of life. Imagine having a tree of life in the middle of your house. What a wonderful thing your house can be. 36:34 Make your house like that. I have a great desire that my home must have the atmosphere of heaven. Victory and love and joy and peace. Even if people come to my house and they start quarreling, 36:55 I keep quiet. See, I don't want to talk about this subject. It leads to a quarrel. Let's talk about something else. We must not get into a quarrel in our house. I want my house to be a house where Jesus can always live. 37:17 And if Jesus is always to live in our house, it must be a house of peace. Then I want to say about bringing up children. Father and mother must be united that our children must be godly children. 37:37 And right from the time your children are small, you must pray for them. Pray for all your children. Every day. Pray that God will bring them up. Lord, we want our children to follow Jesus. 38:00 And be witnesses for you in their generation. That's the first thing you must do. Pray for your children. And teach your children to honor their father and mother. And to always speak respectfully to older people in the church. 38:23 See, even the non-Christian people teach their children to be respectful. We must not allow our children to speak disrespectfully to anybody older. See, I go to many churches. 38:52 You can go to any church. Ask any of the children. Have Brother Zach ever spoken to you rudely? Every child will say that I speak to them respectfully. 39:14 I am old enough to be their grandfather. But I speak to them respectfully because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. Because Jesus always spoke nicely to children. 39:34 If you want to be like Jesus, learn to speak nicely to little children. To your children and other people's children. See, our churches, we must be different from all the other people in the world. The way we speak to our wives. 39:56 The way we speak to our children. Everything must change completely. See, we want to speak respectfully to one another. And we must bring up our children to teach them to speak respectfully to older people. 40:19 You cannot expect your children to become perfect overnight. It takes time for them. And so, if they argue and quarrel and all that, that will happen when they are small. Yeah, my children were also like that. 40:39 The only thing, I did not allow them to hit each other. They say, with words and all you can argue, don't use bad words. And you must not use bad words to each other. And gradually, as they see the peace in the father and mother, they will also come to that life one day. 41:04 You may not have much money to give to your children when they grow up and leave your home. But do you know the greatest inheritance that you can give to your children? It is peace. If your children can grow up in a home where there is peace. 41:30 That is the greatest inheritance you can give to your children, even if you can't give them money. Don't think that if you don't do anything, your house, your home will become a good home. See, if you go by two houses, 41:52 in one house you see a beautiful garden. In the other house you see all like weeds and even the grass is all dead dead. 42:14 This is just next door to each other. What is the difference? Was God partial to that man that he gave him a beautiful garden? And give this man a useless garden? No. 42:34 You can be sure that that man spent many, man and woman spent many hours to make that garden a beautiful garden. These are pictures of two marriages. 42:54 You see one marriage which is like a beautiful garden. There were many weeds there. But they pulled it out. Every time the weed came, they pulled it out. That means they were quick to ask forgiveness. And when your partner comes and asks you for forgiveness, 43:16 You must forgive also immediately. You must not act like a big Maharaja or Maharani and say, "Yeah, I will see about that." Sometimes that happens. You know, one person realizes they said something wrongly and say, "I am sorry." 43:41 And then you can act like a big person. You must immediately say, "Okay, it's forgiven." Let's not talk about it anymore. Do you know this wonderful promise? 44:08 In Hebrews 8:12, it's a promise that God has given us. He says, "Your sins and iniquities I will remember no more." It's a wonderful promise. 44:32 Think if God reminded us of all the sins we committed in our past life. How terrible it will be. Do you remind your husband or wife about mistakes that they did in the past? 44:53 Are you all paying attention? Do you remind your husband or wife of mistakes they did in the past? A lot of people do that. 45:20 Some quarrel comes up. And then they start. What you did 10 years ago, what you did 5 years ago. What your mother did, what your father did. You know, that is like going to the garbage bin outside where you dumped all the garbage and bringing it all back inside the house. 45:43 Once you have thrown the garbage outside the house, don't bring it back inside the house. Once you have forgiven somebody, say like God, I will not remember that anymore. 46:08 Can you say that to each other? That once they have asked forgiveness, I will not talk about this again for the rest of my life. That is thrown outside in the garbage bin. 46:28 And I am never going to go to that garbage bin and bring something back inside the house. Have you done it? Have you done it in your marriage that things you throw in the garbage bin you bring back inside the house? Okay, don't do it anymore. 46:47 Okay, don't do it anymore. Your marriage is the most precious thing God has given you. Be very faithful to your wife. There is a lot of temptation in the world today. And many of you men go out to work in offices, factories, there are so many women there. 47:18 The devil is very quick to try and ruin you. Be faithful to your wife. Okay, now I will ask her to say something. The first miracle that Jesus did was at a wedding. 47:44 There was a lack there. And Jesus met that lack. And in the same way, in our marriage, many times we see a lack. We see many lacks. 48:06 But we can come to Jesus and say, Lord, there are many things still not right in our life. But just like you did in Cana, do the same in my life also. 48:26 And some years later, our children can look back at our home. And they can say that our home was a very good home. They should not think, oh, in my home, my mother was always worried. 48:52 Always scolding. Or finding fault. We can say, Lord, change me now itself. So my children can look back and say, My mother was a godly woman. 49:14 In closing, I want to just read one verse which we heard this morning. Proverbs 31, verse 26. She opens her mouth in wisdom. It says about the virtuous woman. 49:38 And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. That is my prayer too. Lord, let me have always kind words from my... Okay, now... 49:59 A question... For... All those who are awake. Do you know which book and chapter of the Bible, which book and chapter of the Bible you read about putting on the whole armor of God to fight against the devil? 50:26 Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? 50:32 Which book and chapter of the Bible? Which book and chapter of the Bible? Aha! This Tamil Nadu is full of Bible scholars. Tamil Nadu is full of Bible scholars. That's right. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10 onwards. Okay, now another question. 50:53 What does the Bible speak in the 20 verses before that? No, the previous 20 verses. 51:16 You don't know? Before he speaks about the devil attacking, fighting, fighting, fighting, is the devil. He has written 20 verses on one subject. After writing that only, he says the devil will attack. What is it about? 51:38 Home. The Christian home. See, so he writes about the Christian home. And then says, Be careful, the devil will attack. So you must remember. 51:58 The Christian home is the one the devil seeks to attack more than anything else. That is why that section comes immediately after the section on the home. And it says at the end of the home, finally be strong in the Lord, so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. 52:28 And he has got so many schemes to destroy the home. Okay. Okay. Sorry. Next question. Next question. What important commandment is given just before the section on the home? 52:56 You know, Ephesians 5:22 onwards is all about the home. What is the very important commandment written in the two, three verses before that? 53:17 Don't know. Don't know. That is the secret of having a happy home. I'll tell you. Anybody knows? Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians 5:18. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. 53:38 It is only one place in all the letters Paul it is written. Only one place. Be filled with the Spirit. And then, Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. 54:01 Making melody in your heart unto the Lord. And then 20 verses about the home. So how shall the husband be the head of his wife? Be filled with the Spirit. And instead of saying, "Ada, adi, podi, vadi," and all speak in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. 54:30 And how shall the wife be subject to her husband? Be filled with the Holy Spirit. And don't say, "What do you know?" Speak in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. So see, the section on the Christian home. 54:50 Begins with, "Be filled with the Holy Spirit." And ends with, "Stand against the schemes of the devil." God bless you. Let's pray. Let's pray. Heavenly Father. 55:12 We pray that you will bless these dear families here. And please, build godly homes all across Tamil Nadu. We pray in Jesus' name. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. 55:32 God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. 55:52 God bless you. God bless you. God bless you.
