0:00 Well, I've heard that CFC Bangalore, they they have a two-minute timer and they hold the two-minute timer up and they tell people when it's been two minutes. We don't do that here, but let's go for like a two-minute drill so 0:10 that we can hear from as many people as possible. We haven't had church in two weeks or we haven't met together in two weeks. So, hopefully there there's some meditations from our study of of Philippians as well as from our reading 0:21 of uh Proverbs. So, can I get a quick show of hands if who has something they'd like to share? Okay. Okay. We'll go in this way. Keep your hands up for one second. So, Bobby, then Michelle, then Beth, then Paul, then Renshu. 0:36 Okay. Bobby, Michelle, Beth, Paul, Renu. Anybody else? Okay, perfect. Bobby, you want to start? Morning. 0:56 Recently, God has been speaking to me something. Um, the general way I would sum it up is um, don't make decisions based on fear, but uh, trust in the Lord. Don't make decisions based on fear. And so, I had a couple of, uh, 1:12 passages associated with that. The one is in John 8 and the other is in Proverbs 22. So, I'll just go to John 8. Um uh there are um there are two kinds of extremes I realize that I can find 1:30 myself in sometimes. One extreme is um being so fearful of something uh that I refuse to take any action and the other extreme is being so confident in something that I go forward foolishly. And I I see that those are two wrong 1:46 extremes because they're both void of trust in God. On the one hand, I'm saying uh this is never going to work out. Um and I give into my fear and that's not trusting in the Lord. And on the other hand, I say this, of course, 1:58 this is going to work out. And I realize that's not trusting in the Lord. That's trusting in my own knowledge of the circumstances. So I realized that um falling into both extremes is wrong. Uh too too confident but also too fearful. 2:11 But Jesus uh right here in verse of John 8 verse 59 it said therefore they picked up stones to throw at him but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple. So I see that uh Jesus he wasn't a slave to fear because he went to the temple in 2:28 the first place and was willing to preach very strong message to the Pharisees um and people who wanted to stone him. But at the same time, he wasn't um so confident uh presuming that the the father was going to do certain 2:43 things that he took action and he went and hid himself. He didn't just stand there and say, "Well, the father is going to deflect all the stones and all this." Uh he um he didn't presume I I believe that um presumption is a sin. 2:55 presum presuming that I know anything that's going to happen that um but I have to kind of um trust that things are in God's hands and um not presume that he's going to do anything in the future but um just trust him. And then the 3:09 other one is in Proverbs 22 verse 13. It says the slugard says there is a lion outside I will be killed in the streets. Um I think that uh I would for me I would translate that verse the fear fe fearful man says there's a lion 3:23 outside I will be killed in the streets. So um I've realized that a lot of times I can kind of let my fear dominate um decisions and saying I can't do this. It's it's never going to work out. This is going to uh it's never um some 3:36 tragedy is bound to happen if um I go down this route. But uh that's really listening to my flesh and not God's leading. So I've um I realized that I've got to avoid both extremes and go down God's leading. be wise but at the same 3:48 time um uh be don't be foolish. Um and uh that's what God is speaking to me. morning church. 4:24 Um, so something I felt like God was um leading me to share. We had some travel last week that ended up being really difficult um for many reasons. And I told Jeremy it was probably the most trying week of my life. um between little sleep, disobedient 4:43 kids, challenging family dynamics, etc. And I was feeling really overwhelmed and discouraged and depleted. Um and I met with a couple sisters this past week and shared what I was going through and frankly not really seeing the good or 4:59 God's purpose in the trial. Um and the sister just simply said, "Has there been any verses that been an encouragement to you this in this time?" And like this light went on like, "Oh yeah, that's where I'm supposed to be turning for 5:12 encouragement." That simple question was so encouraging and eye opening at the same time. It reminded me that God's word, his promises, and he himself are going to lift my burdens. Um, I was reminded of Matthew 11:28, which says, 5:29 "Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." And that's such a common verse that we've heard a lot. Um but it really it really gave me rest this week of am I actually coming to him in those trials. Um I 5:45 asked this sister who is also going through a challenging time but she's having a much better attitude about it all than I was um if she would share some verses with me that have been an encouragement to her. And one that stood 5:58 out to me was Proverbs 35 and 6. Um, trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight. And I realized I wasn't trusting in the Lord with all my heart 6:13 and that I was leaning on my own understanding of the trial and of the circumstance instead of God's. Um, she showed me several other verses and I was so thankful that this sister was able to share verses from her heart that were 6:27 not only timely ones that spoke to my situation. Um, but it also reminded me how important it is to memorize scripture and have those in our hearts so that when someone is going through a hard time, we can give them a word of 6:42 encouragement. Um, so there have been seasons in my life where spending time memorizing scripture may be easier. Um, and so I I was encouraged to make the most of those seasons so that when I come up against a trial or a hard time, 6:57 um, the Holy Spirit will have many verses he can call to mind to encourage me because in those trying weeks, I'm not usually sitting memorizing scripture. Um, but if I have done that ahead of time, then they will be an encouragement to me. So that was a 7:11 really good reminder and not only will I be better equipped to face a trial and not fall into sin through my own in my own life but I can also be be an encouragement and blessing to others who are walking through something hard. So 7:26 thank you father for your body for your promises in scripture and for Jesus himself. Amen. Good morning, family. 7:43 Um, we um just got back from going farther north from the wedding um to Canada and went to a garden that we I had struggled about going to for I don't know three or four years now. And every time we came up, the Lord said, "Oh, no, 8:00 you're not going there. You're going here." And so, and so I was like, "How about this time?" you know, and he was like, "Yes, you can go this time." And so we had planned that and it's um a very beautiful garden. It's called the 8:12 Bart Garden and um it's on the Victoria Island. So it's it is a struggle to get there 1100 miles and a ferry and you know uh lots of things. So um but God um in his mercy opened up um when I got home or which was a a hotel room to 8:30 Isaiah 40 where it says all flesh are like grass and he's so he's so faithful to remind me and the whole trip really um was a very big humbling um and I thank him for that. It says, "All flesh is like grass in um chapter 40:6. 8:48 And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the breath of the Lord blows upon it because the breath of the Lord blows upon it. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but 9:04 the word of our God stands forever." We even have a kids club song with actions that Roger and I do and he's pawato with this one. But it's it's amazing the how true that is that you can see and witness the loveliness of the creation 9:19 and the how God magnifies himself and how impossible evolution is if you if you see if you view it um with a heart with a broken heart. So, I I really got humbled um the whole trip. And that brings me to our memory verse um in 9:37 Philippians 3 because um I realized in memorizing that on the way down um that I haven't counted all things as loss at all. And um that this attitude um I want this attitude that Paul had that more than that I count all things for the 9:53 surpassing um greatness and view of of knowing Jesus Christ. I mean knowing that's one of my favorite hymns that we do here is knowing Jesus and I want that. I want that but I want it more in the practical in the in the everyday. And so I 10:10 realized that unless the revelation I got on it as memorizing it was that it that is the requirement for the new covenant disciplehip. If you don't count everything as loss, then you will turn. Something will make you turn and you 10:24 will you will not make it to the end. So everything has to be counted as loss for the gain of knowing Christ. And um it's doing a work like like uh our brother said, I'm in process big time, but um I thank him for that. I thank him for the 10:41 humbling that we got on the trip. We had some trials and dangers and things we faced, but um his word is what's going to see us all through. And knowing I just can't get this thing to work 11:15 properly. It's like this black serpent up here trying to avoid it. name of Jesus here. Being taller sometime isn't a good thing. Um I just want to share two things basically that have been very 11:34 practical over the last uh actually since the conference. um one during the conference there's so many things to share right I mean you're overloaded um everything uh every week here uh I find myself you know needing to mature in 11:50 some type of area in my life just needing to mature in general in my faith and that's not a negative thing at all I hope that I can come every week to my church and say you need to grow up some more and and uh being a little less 12:01 selfish being a little little less pride in your life and so forth um so going the conference was like back to kindergarten. You know, there were some things that um uh I was just really really challenged obviously like many of you were if not 12:17 everybody was. And uh uh just one thing I want to share out of that um that's kind of stuck with me is God being the blessed controller out of uh 1 Timothy uh I think it's 6:15. Uh but before I talk about that, uh Zach was also here a couple weeks ago 12:34 and he shared with us about fellowship with God. And I just said, "Man, that was so refreshing um with a life of of battle that we're in every day with thoughts and temptations and situ uh situations, circumstances that we feel 12:48 um overwhelmed with like Michelle was sharing um Hebrews 10 uh 19 through 20 um what Jesus did for us." And this is the second veil. Isn't the 13:07 first veil to go in the holy place. It's the second veil to get into the holy of holies where the presence of God was where the priest could only go. And this is Jesus what he did for us. This is what this is. So uh 19 uh and 20 says 13:23 since therefore brethren we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus by new and living way which he inaugurated for us through the veil that is uh his flesh. And there's um I talked about the holy place, but uh 13:38 Zach was talking about going to the Holy of Holies and uh the presence of God and um why I think that stuck with me through the week and why it was so practical. That's the first time something like this has actually been 13:51 practical so heavenly um heavily filled with doctrine, right? hard to understand the book of Hebrews and the the um the new covenant and the uh the tabernacle itself and how it's orchestrated. You kind of get lost in the details and say 14:07 what does it all mean? Uh but this kind of was just very simple for me. The way he brought the cookies on a lower shelf and that was um the veil was his flesh and that is in verse 20, right? uh for us through the veil that is his 14:24 flesh and the flesh being doing God's will not his own like in the garden when he said father not thy will not my will but your will be done and he did that for 33 and 1/2 years saying no 14:41 to sin and with the angry mobs and um ultimately in the cross and just any time he was tempted to sin Uh Hebrews 4 says uh right we don't have a high priest that can't sympathize with our 14:58 weaknesses our temptations. Hebrews 4:15-16. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathi sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne 15:18 of grace. uh so we can come into the throne of grace with confidence. But I think for me a lot of times every day thinking about what are the sins I'm facing and Lord am I right with you and praying and asking God to help me with 15:31 his holy spirit. Nothing wrong with that. That's part of the process. But the thing that was so beautiful that Zach had mentioned was he went to the holy holies to have fellowship with his father. And so that that gave me a good motive 15:45 when I'm finding uh temptation through the day whether I'm at work. And one example recently I think um just being overwhelmed with a lot of things to do at work and uh being in kind of a a newer position and um your boss kind of 16:02 coming over and saying you're going to be the guy that also covers the guy on vacation and you're also going to train this dude at the same time. and you're going, how am I going to do this with the current projects that are going on? 16:14 So, it's really tempting to have an attitude, you know, and one of the things to fight that attitude was, Lord, it doesn't matter if it all gets done to you ultimately. To my boss, it sure it does. Sure. Absolutely. But first, let 16:28 me be resting in your arms and and desiring. I want to die to this worry about getting this project done or making sure this guy gets trained correctly. And Lord, I I want to have fellowship with you. I don't want anything I don't want this sin to get 16:46 irritated at this situation at my boss or grumble and complain over the over the work. Lord, let that not get in between you and I. Right? Fellowship in 1 John 1, right, is walking in the light. So there can't be any darkness in 17:00 there. There can't be any grumbling and complaining and whatever the sin is, dirty thoughts. That has to go. And once that's out, me and my father can have wonderful fellowship. But it's not like, okay, got rid of that. Cuz I thought 17:15 about it, you know, many times, many, many, many times I've been the elder brother. The elder brother was obedient, right? You did everything the father. How could you treat me like this? How can you throw a party for the younger 17:25 son? I've obeyed you all these years. So, and that wasn't the issue. It was, "Do I want to have fellowship?" Yeah, I want to be obedient, too. Certainly, sure. But do I want to have fellowship with my father? And do I have it down? 17:40 Absolutely not. Um, I'm just I'm finding there's a lack there that why do I really want to have victory over sin? Why do I really, Lord, want to obey you? Is it because I want to please you? It's because I really am grieved over this 17:56 that this displeases you, Father, that whatever this sin or temptation I'm having is breaking you. Do I long to really be with you? Do I long to obey you because you've been so wonderful to me because you died for me? Because you're with me day after day 18:12 because I don't deserve another solitary single thing because what I really deserve is hell, Lord? And and so those conversations and those times of prayer haven't been oh give up forget it down in the dumps depressed. No, it's made me rejoice that he is so 18:31 good and that he is so wonderful and that he keeps saying just keep coming just keep taking a step. I know you're in the kindergarten, first grade, whatever, 8th grade, you know, and you're still dealing with this thing, 18:42 but I'm with you and I love you and I want you to do this process every day. um not just once. And so that kind of goes into I wanted to share that first even though the blessed controller was first because I wanted to to set my heart straight 18:59 first. What was the number one priority? And that was having fellowship with God. Jesus and the Holy Spirit were before the foundation of the world. They had wonderful fellowship. There was love there. God is love. There was a love of 19:10 God happening in between them. And man, we can tap into that. That's a wonderful thing. you know, we can experience the love of God. And the moment my heart gets that out of priority, the love, his love, and him wanting to share that love 19:23 with me and share with others and building the body of Christ and so forth, I'm missing it, man. You know, so and the reason why he goes into the blessed controller is because now that I see, Lord, I want to make sure that I'm 19:37 having fellowship with you and getting rid of this sin, walking in the light. Um, and to say, you know what, if you want to give me 10 guys to train and three other positions to fulfill, you're controlling it. You are controlling it. 19:53 You're in control, right? He he moved the heart of the king, right? Surely he can my little situation. That's not about me, but about him. So, these are just some things that I'm I'm scratching the surface of. I tell you in 20:09 Jesus' name. It's so easy to get up here and talk about it, you know. It really, really is. And I've done it several times coming up. You know, I think of uh many times just being a babe in Christ. Babies, what do they do? You know, when 20:26 they start growing, they start mimicking you. They start saying things that you didn't know that they heard. Sometimes you're quite shocked. And so, they mimic mom and dad. And you know what? That's okay. That's all right. And and God said, "Hey, you know, 20:42 that's where you begin. You start praying. You start copying me. You don't fully understand all this stuff, you know, but you're following me and cop and sooner or later I'll help you get it. But just keep trusting me, you know, 20:55 and it's okay to be a babe, you know. Don't stay there. That's the problem I've had for years. Praise God. Uh just I'll take a quick 21:16 few seconds to explain how the mics work. Uh since it's pretty confusing. We've got two mics. This mic is mainly for the people in this room. So, and this one is for our streaming and the sisters in the back. This is pretty 21:27 sensitive, so it doesn't have to be super close to you. So, for people who share, I guess that might help. If you can stand closer to this, it's louder in this in this room. Okay. Uh, so it's not the best system, but we're working on it. Uh, so I' I'd 21:39 like to share something that happened to me yesterday. Um, I got a chance to go uh hiking, and it's I don't usually hike, so it's like the third time in my life probably that I've gone hiking. Uh, but the reason I wanted to go for this 21:50 hike was cuz, uh, once you get to the end of this hike, you're at 3,200 ft above where you started. And so, you get a pretty good view of what's around you. Uh, but I didn't know how steep the climb would be. So, I was all, you know, 22:01 pumped up to start. But once 5 minutes into it, I'm you know, my heart's beating so hard. I can I feel it's going to pop out of my chest. But uh and I'm taking breaks every 5 minutes. But it was a popular trail. So there was a 22:11 couple of people on the trail coming going up and coming down. And like after half an hour, if I met anyone coming down, I'd be like, "How much more? How, you know, it's like how much more do I need to keep going?" Uh and then like 22:23 like an hour and a half or 2 hours into it, uh I I saw this couple coming down and I asked her, "So how much more?" And uh she was like, "Do you really want to know?" I'm like, "Yeah." And she was like, "Okay, there's 45 minutes to to an 22:34 hour left. Um, if you're going up, but the way down is much better. But when you when you're going up, there's this patch of land where you see some brown dirt." So, it was mostly a rocky area. So, you'll see some brown dirt and from 22:45 then on it's not so steep. It's more plain land. And then it gets easier. Uh, and so as I kept going, that was, you know, kind of on my head like for 45 minutes and then it's, you know, not so steep from then on. Uh and um when I hit 22:58 this p you know patch of brown brown sand and it was it was steep and I kind of jokingly exclaimed, "Oh my god, a prophecy is true." Uh but it was it was a good for me at that point of time I was remembering it was cuz the previous 23:10 week as well I was struggling with some things in my life. Um I had fallen in things that I shouldn't have. Uh and I I was thinking back to the promises we have in the Bible. Like at times our our Christian walk might seem hard. It might 23:22 seem, oh god, this, you know, this sin just seems like like it's so big. It's impossible for me to overcome. Uh it seems as though this it's worse than this hike that I'm taking. You know, my my legs are aching. My uh I'm I'm giving 23:35 it the all everything I have, but I still can't can't overcome it or, you know, with all those things. But there's so many promises that we have with in God's word, which I feel should be an encourage encouragement to me. like you 23:46 know we have we read about the cloud of witnesses who've already been on this hike who you know walked this path and have overcome these sins and we're blessed to have I'm I'm blessed to have older people around me who who've you 23:57 know been down this path before me and I've overcome these sins and I can talk to her about it so like promises like sin shall not have dominion over you that's kind of my patch of brown sand which I need to get to like that I know 24:09 it's there I know it's down the road I know God has promised it to me but I don't see it right now it might seem so hard to get there but if If I truly hold on to that or that he who started the good work in me, he is faithful enough 24:20 to complete it. Uh or you know when you like eventually when you see him you will be like him when he talks about Jesus. But like things of that sort like it it might seem so hard. It might seem that oh my god I'm never going to get to 24:31 the top of this hike. What was I thinking starting you know starting to get on this trail? But if you truly know and you truly believe that you know God has given me these promises and these are things that I can hold on to. These 24:42 are things that I can I can claim and I know that someday I will with his strength reach that you know patch of brown sand from where on it won't be so very difficult uh to move on. Sorry I felt inspired to share just one 25:07 thing uh after I listen to all of you. Actually before the sharing time began I was praying to God that God you have to speak to me today and God truly spoke through all of you. Uh it uh so so encouraged me. So uh I I'm also 25:21 encouraged to share something even though it is very small but uh I hope it would uh bless you also. So one of the subtle uh deception or lies of the devil that I observed is uh when we go through any circumstance or trial or uh 25:36 difficult situation trying to make the problem uh bigger than our God. So your problem you're so close to the problem that problem looks so big and God it tries to make he tries to make God smaller. So one verse uh recently that 25:51 uh helped me is in uh Jeremiah 32:27 uh behold I am the Lord the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? So when uh as Bobby was sharing like you know when we go through any fear the 26:11 fear basically comes because yeah this problem is too big and even God cannot handle may not handle. So these words quieten quietened my heart. I mean I knew this words but it came again as a remembrance. So God kind of asked me 26:25 like so you're afraid about something. So do you think that I cannot handle this problem? Is that what you think? That's why you're afraid. So it's like a pointed question to me and through these words God spoke to me and lifted me up. 26:39 And there are many other verses like he's almighty. We we praise him like that. Almighty. Almighty means everything is possible. everything must be possible but all he's the lord of heaven and earth he's the maker of heaven and earth so all this promise as 26:52 Michel was sharing also like these promises lift us up and keep us going and we need to cling on to him even as you shared that even the promise is not true today yes the shall not have any to me I'm going to believe and cling on to 27:07 it and it will be true in my life so that is our faith so when faith comes the fear has to go away so so faith and fear are opposite So praise the Lord. Praise the Lord for we serve a great God for whom nothing is impossible. Amen. 27:28 That reminds me that uh perfect love casts out fear. There's no fear in love. Right? As it says in first John, the one who fears has not been perfected in love. Um, so the thing that I want to share, I'll share very briefly. Um, is 27:43 I've been in a couple situations. As some of you know, I was uh involved with Luke and Katie's wedding. Um, and you know, I was preparing for it and we were going on on this trip and one of the things that I really like to do when we 27:57 go on family vacations is read a book. I don't get to read a lot and so I think anytime I have go on a vacation, I'll try to read a book. And um but because I knew we wouldn't have a lot of free time and I knew that I needed to be prepared 28:09 for the wedding, I decided I'm gonna make a big sacrifice and I'm not only am I not going to bring a book, which felt like a big sacrifice, but it's not. But I'm not going to bring any magazines either cuz so you know on the airplane 28:21 I'll like look at a magazine, maybe try to snatch a couple minutes between crying children. Um but I didn't bring any magazines. I didn't bring any books and it's all well and good. That doesn't matter. But, you know, small sacrifices. 28:34 And um anyway, I um I I was reminded of a uh of a verse. It comes in uh Isaiah 22. I'll read it quickly. It's a little bit of a passage, but 28:51 the let's see starting in verse 9 says, "You saw that the breaches in the wall of the city of David were many, and you collected the waters of the lower pool." This is so here's a big sacrifice. Verse 10, "You counted the 29:06 houses of Jerusalem and tore down the houses to fortify the wall." What a sacrifice. And you made a reservoir between the two walls for the pools of the for the waters of the old pool. But you did not depend on him who made it, 29:19 nor did you take into consideration him who planned it long ago. And then in verse 14, he says, "Surely this iniquity will not be forgiven you until you die, says the Lord." And the thing that made me think is that um great personal 29:31 sacrifice without depending on God is not pleasing to God. And it's easy, if we're not careful, to mistake sacrifice for dependence. We think in making sacrifices, oh, I'm I'm depending on God. That's not necessarily true. And 29:47 the same, you know, in in my life in this uh particular situation, it's one thing to make sacrifices and that's good to be prepared, but then even in the light of sacrifices, I need to say, God, I have to have you speak to me. If you 30:01 don't speak to me, no amount of sacrifice is going to produce um any kind of um blessing, any kind of uh fruitfulness. Sacrifice isn't what yields fruit. Dependence is what yields fruit. and being the connectedness to the vine is what yields fruit and that 30:17 may require sacrifice at times but don't don't think sacrifice is the only thing that's necessary because it's not um I had another situation last Monday I I had some young guys invite me to uh to talk with them about some uh Bible verse 30:33 and it was late at night and I thought oh you know I guess I will I'll be away from the family for a night but I you know I prayed about it I thought it was the right thing to do but God even laid it on my heart Then it's it's not enough 30:44 that you're making a sacrifice to be here before you speak. Are you asking me what I want you to say? You know, it's again it's this idea that we have to depend all the time. Don't mistake making a sacrifice for depending on God 30:59 because even when we're making sacrifices, we still have to say, "Lord, you have to speak or the sacrifice isn't worth anything." And so, it's great to sacrifice, but we must be depending on God as we sac in the midst of our 31:10 sacrificing. Sandy, do do you have anything you'd like to share before we switch gears? We're we're uh we're just about to switch. Sorry. At 11, do you want to you want to switch? Okay. All right. So, I 31:29 know there are multiple people who have something they want to share, but we do want to honor the time that the sisters have with Sister Annie. Um so, we're going to switch gears now. Um, so if you had something to share, save it for next 31:40 week. Please, please share it. Um, but here's what's going to happen. The sisters are going to come out from uh the back and uh brothers will go back and be with the kids and then um we've asked that sisters prepare a few 31:53 questions if uh if you have any questions for Annie. We want to make sure that this is a blessed time. Let's pray real quick before we do. Father in heaven, we're so thankful for the chance that you've given us to be together 32:04 today.
