0:08 If the Lord has given you a commandment, he's also given you the Holy Spirit to help you keep that commandment. Which commandment is there which the 0:24 Holy Spirit will not help you to keep? He says, "I'll give you a The world cannot receive him, but you have received him. And he says without the Holy Spirit, verse 18, you'll be like orphans. You know that without the Holy Spirit, a 0:44 person's an orphan. It's like if my son was an orphan and he wanted to lift that heavy box or table, he can't do it. He doesn't have a dad to help him. He tries, tries, and he gives up. 1:02 But because he had a dad, he's not an orphan. I said, "No, my son, you put your finger there, I lift it, and I carry 99.99% of the weight." And he puts his finger there and says, "Dad and I lifted the table." Yeah, we work together at it. Even if his 1:19 contribution was only 01%. That is how the Holy Spirit helps us. and he doesn't um make a big fuss about it trying to get any credit or glory for it. He's glad to help us just like I'm glad to help my dad my son do something. 1:39 For example, a child comes back from school saying dad I can't understand this math problem. So I sit with him and explain that problem to him and he understands it and he goes back to school and he gets 100%. In the examination because he learned from me 1:52 how to do it. That's how the Holy Spirit will help you to get 100%. If a human being can help you in some earthly thing, the Holy Spirit can help you in all these temptations. So remember this. If you love me, you'll keep my commandments. And I will give 2:08 you a helper. Always read those verses together. What is that helper for? Well, see the previous verse. That's why he's a helper to keep you, help you keep the commandments. Many people know that the Holy Spirit is a helper, but they don't 2:23 know what he's a helper for. He didn't come to help you to pass your school examinations. No, he will help you there also, but primarily to keep the commandments. Read verse 15 and 16 together. If you love me, keep my commandments and I will give you a 2:39 helper to keep my commandments. And if you don't have him, you'll be like an orphan. Verse 18, but you won't remain as an orphan because the Holy Spirit will make come and tell you, you got a dad in heaven. You're not an 2:53 orphan. He will never leave you helpless. The wonderful thing is my dear brothers and sisters when Jesus Christ comes into us, the Holy Spirit comes in. But we need to ask the Holy Spirit to fill us completely. There's a difference between receiving 3:11 the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit. As soon you see Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are one. You cannot receive Jesus into your heart and keep the Holy Spirit outside or receive the Holy Spirit inside and 3:24 keep Jesus outside. No, he comes in. You say, "Lord Jesus, come into my heart." The Holy Jesus himself is in heaven. The Holy Spirit is on earth. When you ask Christ to come into your heart, the Holy Spirit comes in. He has already 3:39 come in. You may not have felt it. I didn't feel anything, but I know I believe in my heart. Over a period of time, it becomes real. But he may not have filled you. Supposing you see a house at a distance and it's got 10 rooms in it 3:55 and there's light in one room and I ask you a question. Is there light in that house? Yes or no? What will you say? Yes, there is light in one room. Is there light in that house? Yes. Is 4:15 the house filled with light? No. Nine rooms are dark. They haven't turned on the light in nine rooms. So I can have the Holy Spirit in and not be filled with the Holy Spirit. Because why? It's not because the Holy Spirit 4:31 doesn't want to fill me, but the Holy Spirit will not enter a room until you open the door for him. You know Jesus said, "I come and knock at the door." Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man opens the door, I will come in. The 4:47 Holy Spirit is like that. He knocks. Can I enter this room in your life? Can I enter the room where you the books you read? Will you allow me to control the books you read that if I tell you that's not a 5:06 book for you to read? That's not a site that you should go to on your phone or your computer. The Holy Spirit says don't go to that site or that dirty picture that's come up on your phone or your screen. Turn it off. 5:26 Change the site immediately. Do you listen? If you don't listen, that room will be dark in your life. If you refuse to listen when the Holy Spirit says don't do this or do this, 5:43 that room will remain dark in your life. So then you can say, "Lord, I want to obey you, but I don't have the strength." Oh, the Holy Spirit says, "That's it. Then I'll give you the strength." Sure, but you have to be willing. See, there's one thing God will 5:58 not do. He will not force us. Do you know that God doesn't even force us to go to heaven? He does not force How do people go to hell? Because God does not force anybody to go to heaven. You got to choose. You got to choose to accept Christ. You got 6:13 to choose to go to heaven. You got to choose to listen to the Holy Spirit when he says, "Don't look at that. Turn your eyes away from that dirty thing." And you're tempted to say an angry word to somebody who's come and being very rude to you 6:29 and the Holy Spirit stops you and says, "Don't say that word. Don't say that. Don't respond to him in the angry way he is speaking to you. Keep quiet. And if you can't say a kind word, don't say anything. And you listen to the Holy 6:44 Spirit. I tell you, you keep listening to that, you'll become a spiritual man one day. Do you know how really godly men became godly? Listen to me. They kept on listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit over many, many, many years. 7:01 and the Holy Spirit note. And it's easy to say to no to something I hate. If somebody says, "Don't put your hand in the toilet bowl." H you don't have to tell me that. I'm not going to put my hand in the toilet bowl. It's filthy. 7:16 But when the Holy Spirit says, "Don't look at that dirty picture on the in that billboard over there or on your phone or in the computer. Turn away from that." Or you sign a statement and the it's a false statement. And the Holy Spirit 7:30 says, "Don't sign that statement. It's false." Maybe you're going to get admission somewhere by giving a false statement. And the Holy Spirit says, "No, I don't want you to get admission in a college by giving a false statement. 7:44 Speak the truth. And never mind if you don't can't get into that good college. I'll take you to the college where you should study." But don't ever tell a lie. Listen to the Holy Spirit. And if you keep listening, it's like 7:58 going to the gym every day. Imagine if you went to the gym every day and you spend time exercising yourself with all the equipment there. In 10 years, you'll be such a muscular person and people wonder how did you get all those 8:12 muscles? Can you teach me the secret in one day to get it? I say you can't get it in one day, but if you quit going to the gym for 10 years, you'll get it. And you see a really spiritual man who knows God so well, who's so anointed, 8:26 who's a blessing to so many people, and you say, "Can I be like that?" Sure, you can be like that. But you got to go to the gym regularly. Spiritual gym, I mean. And the Holy Spirit will help you. There are different rooms in our heart 8:42 book room, the books you read the way and what you see in your computer in various areas. the way you handle money, being faithful with money and being controlled in even your eating habits. 8:59 I'll tell you all of us when you grow up, we become slaves to good food. We all love to eat good food. And what h what can happen gradually is you become a slave to it. You can become a slave to sleeping where you sleep and sleep and sleep and so 9:18 much that you don't wake up in time to do your jobs. Well, I know I was also tempted with good food. And I found when I was a young person, when I was 20 years old, I I said, Lord, I read in your Bible that we got to fast and not tell anybody 9:33 that you're fasting. So now, since it happened long ago, I can tell you, but when I was fasting, I didn't tell anybody. Well, that was I would sometimes skip meals for a whole day. I was working on a ship and I just drink a 9:48 glass of milk or some water and skip breakfast, lunch and dinner just to say, "Lord, I want to overcome this lust for food that is in my body, the lust for good food." And what if I skip a meal? Maybe one day there's a grand meal being offered and I 10:06 say, "I'm not going to eat it. I've conquered. I've told that food, you cannot be the master over me. I'm the master over you. Sexual lust is another thing you got to be able to say to sexual temptation. You're not going to rule over me. Sexual 10:22 temptation, I'm going to rule over you. Some pretty girl there, you see, and you want to keep staring at her. And you say, no, you're not going to rule over me. I'm going to rule over you. Be a conqueror. Be a conqueror. 10:38 That's the Holy Spirit has come to help you to be a conqueror. So [clears throat] that type of fasting is good once in a while. If you can't fast for a whole day, fast for a meal. Pass for a meal that you really like to 10:51 eat and say, "I'm not going to do it. I'm going to discipline myself [clears throat] so that I don't become a slave to food." Same way with sleeping. We all need a certain amount of sleep. People say you need about 8 hours of 11:04 sleep. Well, you don't need more than that. If you got your eight hours of sleep, get up, go and do something. Don't sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. Say, "Lord, I want to conquer my sleep." And there are times where you 11:16 may have less sleep and say, "Well, I'm not going to laz around in bed. I'm going to get up and do something." There are passions in our body which we must conquer for sex and our tongue especially. You can be tempted to speak 11:31 back to someone who speaks rudely to you. You need strength there. The Holy Spirit has come.
