The command to examine ourselvesDrawing from 1 Corinthians 11, the speaker notes that we are commanded to examine ourselves before breaking bread.
Self-judgment as a daily lifestyleThe early church broke bread daily, meaning they judged themselves every day, making self-examination a continuous way of life.
The high standard of holiness in the early churchWhile the early church experienced great miracles, it was also marked by a very high standard of holiness and divine judgment.
The sin of pretending to give everythingIn the early church, people gave everything voluntarily, but Ananias and Sapphacia kept some money for themselves while pretending to give the full amount.
The sin of seeking a spiritual reputationThe true sin is not keeping money, but trying to create an impression of being more spiritual than we actually are to impress others.
Erasing sins through confession and repentanceBy judging ourselves and confessing our sins, we can ensure that our record is wiped clean so that nothing appears on the 'video screen' of our lives when we stand before God.
Teaching children to apologize rather than judgeUsing a story about his son, the speaker explains that we should teach children to take responsibility for their actions and apologize, rather than focusing on the wrongs of others.
The promise of not being condemnedIf we diligently examine and condemn our own faults in truth, we will not be condemned by God.
Walking the new and living way through self-examinationThe speaker reflects on a poem about seeking God's light to examine specific areas of life, such as whether we hold onto possessions or if our lives are centered solely on ourselves.
Judging my own lifeThe speaker shares that he does not preach on things he has not first personally examined and sought to cleanse within himself.
The two types of sinSin includes both the wrong things we do and the good things we fail to do, such as neglecting opportunities to share the Gospel.
Standing before the judgment seat of ChristBelievers will stand before Christ to receive rewards based on their actions and motives, with the ultimate goal of living a life that is pleasing to Him.
