The first person He created in the universe to reflect His image was man. 2:02 Very soon, He obeyed the devil and stopped reflecting God's image. And that must have made a heart of God very sad. Just like you will be sad if your child goes, not only leaves your home and goes away, but turns and becomes your enemy. 2:28 I mean, even if your children go astray, you'll feel sad. If they turn again and become your enemy, think how you will feel. 2:48 Then you know how God felt when Adam fell away. And for 4,000 years, He never found a man who would completely reflect His image. Till Jesus came to the earth. And as a man, obeyed the Father completely. 3:15 If you don't believe that He came like us, you will not have the faith to walk like Him. One of the greatest things that I have sought to proclaim in India for 35 years. 3:35 Two things in the book of Hebrews. One, chapter 2, verse 17. Jesus was made like us, His brothers, in all things. We are His brothers. 3:57 And He was made like us in all things. Because that is the only way it says that He could be a merciful and a faithful high priest for us. And, verse 18. 4:18 When He was tempted, He was, He suffered. Therefore, He is able to help us when we are tempted. I want to encourage all of you to meditate on Hebrews 2, verse 17 and 18. If you want to have faith for a victorious life. 4:46 And be gripped by it. Jesus was made like me in everything. You ask yourself, do you hear anybody preaching that nowadays? In all my life, I never heard it in India. 5:10 That Jesus was made like me in everything. And Hebrews 4, verse 15. He was tempted like me in everything. And because He was tempted like me in everything. You say, therefore, what? Therefore, verse 16. 5:31 I can also go to the throne of grace and get the same grace that He got to help me in my time of temptation. What is our biggest problem? Our biggest problem is that we fall in the time of temptation. We fall in our thought life, we fall in our speech, we fall in so many ways. 6:01 Because temptation is so strong. Temptation is like the giants of Canaan, too big for us. We are like David and temptation is like Goliath. And all of Israel trembled before Goliath. 6:24 Except one young man called David who said, in the name of God, I'm going to bring you down. Can you be like David? Look at the big temptation in your life and say, in the name of Jesus, I'm going to bring you down. We have faith for that by looking at Jesus. 6:48 Most of the Christian world does not believe this. Even though it is written in the Bible here. I was talking to an elder of a believer's church. One of the good assemblies in this country. 7:11 They call themselves New Testament pattern. I said, doesn't it say here in the book of Hebrews like this? You know what he said? Book of Hebrews is not for us believers. That is written to the Hebrews. Oh, I see. 7:33 Then Philippians is not for me because that is written for the Philippians. I don't see any book written for Zach Poonin. Then which book is for me? You know, there are so many clever ways when they find something inconvenient in a book. 7:53 They say, oh, that's not for me. That's for the Jewish people. Hebrews means the Jewish people. It's not us. There is no book written by Paul to the Christians in Tamil Nadu. 8:13 No. What shall we read? There is all deception going on in Christianity. Dear brothers and sisters. If you want to live a holy life. I can tell you in Jesus name. You will never be able to live it till you see Jesus came just like you. 8:39 Otherwise, you may be a holy man like Job, but God's standard is higher. See, even if you come to Job's level is pretty good. But even though Job could control his eyes that he didn't look at a woman. You read his book, you see he could not control his tongue. 9:06 Just like Adam, he blamed God also. But in the New Testament, one of the wonderful things is we can control our tongue. If people ask me, what is one of the main results of being filled with the Holy Spirit? 9:30 I say, you remember on the day of the day of Pentecost, there were tongues of fire on top of their heads. That is what I believe. Many Pentecostals speak about speaking in tongues. I thank God for that gift. But this is not just babbling some syllables that is speaking in tongues. 10:00 Some babbling babblings, two, three, like little babies. 90% of the tongues I heard in public is like that. Oh, it's all fake. Don't believe it. Let me tell you. Genuine speaking in tongues is like a language. 10:24 See, you may not understand a language. But if a man is speaking in Chinese here, you will at least recognize it's a language. But when I see some people speaking in tongues in some assemblies, that is not any language. 10:41 That is even the babies can speak better than that. Don't be deceived by that. When God gives you the gift of tongues, it may begin with a few syllables just like baby is speaking. 11:02 But just like that baby develops into speaking a language. Tongues will become a full language. Otherwise, God has not given it to you. Don't worry, it is not a gift God gives to everybody. But something God wants all of us to have 11:22 is this tongue of fire. That means a tongue which is totally pure. That never gets angry. That never speaks evil of others. That never says something to humiliate others. 11:44 That never stands up in the pulpit to shame other people sitting in front. That never tells lies. That will always speak in love. I like this beautiful phrase in the book of Proverbs chapter 31. 12:08 This is how our tongue should be. Proverbs in chapter 31. It is speaking here about a godly woman. But it is a good example for a man also. 12:30 One verse. Verse 26. 31, she opens her mouth in wisdom. And the law, the law, the law of kindness is on her tongue. 12:55 Brothers, if you've got a wife like that, you're a lucky man. 13:15 There are not many women like that. There are not many men like that. If you've got a husband like that. Who never speaks an unkind word. You're a lucky woman. This is what God wants our tongue to be like. 13:37 There's a law. The law of kindness. That means never speak a word that will shame others or hurt others. It is a sharp sword against sin. 13:58 But full of kindness towards sinners. Kindness towards sinners, but a sword against sin. Jesus was like that. God wants us to be filled with the Holy Spirit like that. 14:20 And God sent Jesus exactly like us so that he can be an example for us. So when we think of holiness. What is it? It is the image of Jesus Christ. I searched through the Bible to find out what is the best definition of sin. 14:47 Here are some verses I saw. I knew that in the Old Testament they did not have such an understanding of sin like in the New Testament. The New Testament understanding of sin is perfect. 15:08 The Old Testament understanding of sin was only the external line. So here is one definition of sin. In the New Testament. 1 John chapter 3. And verse 4. There it says. 15:28 Sin is transgression of the law. 1 John 3.4. Last part. Sin is transgression of the law. That means you go against God's law. You do something which God told you not to do. 15:54 Another definition of sin. James 4 and verse 17. This is the opposite. You know the right thing to do but you don't do it. There are two types of sins. 16:15 One is. You are told not to do it but you do it. And the other is. You are supposed to do it but you don't do it. For example. Don't commit adultery. You do it. That's a sin. 16:36 Another is. Honor your father and mother. But you don't do it. That's a sin. So these are two definitions of sins. Things that you should not do that you do. Things that you should do which you don't do. 16:59 Now most of these type of sins we don't even confess. There are many things we should do which we don't do. But we never confess it. Because we don't get convicted about those things. Because we are so far away from God. 17:20 For example. Do you know there is a verse in the Bible which says. Encourage one another every day. Hebrews 3.13. Hebrews 3.13. Is that in your Bible? 17:41 Encourage one another every day. See. That word buddhi solangal means the best buddhi we can give to other and a person is to encourage them. 18:01 Encourage one another every day. Now tell me. Whom do you see every day? Not your brothers and sisters in the church. Even the work. People at work you don't see on Sundays. 18:25 But who do you see every day? The people in your home. Your husband. Your wife. Your children. What should you do to them? What should you do to them? 18:47 Encourage them. How often? Every day. Now you ask yourself. Even though you have read that in the Bible. It's possible that the whole of last year you never did it once. 19:10 Now did you know that you were sinning every day of that year? No. We don't confess the sins that we don't do. We don't confess that as sin. When was the last time you said. 19:31 Oh Lord. I should have encouraged my wife yesterday. I didn't do it. Lord. I should have encouraged my husband yesterday. I didn't do it. Not only I didn't do it. I criticized him. 19:51 Now I'm not asking you to give a big five minute message. I'm asking you to have a spirit of encouraging others. We must learn that brothers and sisters. 20:13 Learn to encourage others. So there are two types of sins. One is things we should not do which we do. And the other is things we should do which we don't do. So now we must learn a little more about the sins which we should do which we don't do. 20:35 About the things we should do. But the highest definition of sin. Is in Romans chapter 3. Romans chapter 3. And verse 23. 20:57 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. All have sinned and they come short of the glory of God. 21:18 So this is the highest definition of sin. To come short of the glory of God. What is the glory of God? This is the best definition of sin in the whole Bible. 21:38 We saw two other definitions in 1 John and James. But this is the highest. To sin is to come short of God's glory. What is God's glory? See John chapter 1. 22:00 John chapter 1. Verse 14. John chapter 1 verse 14. It says here. So the glory of God is seen in Jesus Christ. 22:33 So anything that comes short of the life of the life of the life of Jesus Christ is sin. So anything that comes short of the life of Jesus Christ is sin. We need to understand this. The highest definition of sin is this. 22:52 To come short of the glory of the glory of the glory of God. The glory of God was seen in Jesus Christ. So anything that comes less than the life of Jesus Christ is sin. The word became flesh and we saw his glory. 23:17 And that glory is full of grace and truth. So anything less than the glory of God is sin. And we need to see that. When we see that we will see the highest definition of sin. 23:40 We will become convicted of sin every day. Every day there is something un-Christlike in my life. And what will happen is. Every day my life will be one of repentance. 24:00 And I will have no time to look at the faults of other people. Why do you have so much time to find fault with other people? I think even many of you elders are guilty of that. It's because you are not seeing the glory of God. 24:20 The Holy Spirit has come to show us the glory of Jesus Christ. And when we see that we will feel convicted of our sin. We will be convicted of our sin. And we will repent. The truly godly man is one whose life is one of repentance every day. 24:50 Please remember that. And if you are not like that. You are not a godly man or a woman. So many things God will convict you. One word that you spoke. One word that was not Christlike. A thought that you had. A thought that is not Christlike. 25:13 Or some handling of money. That was not Christlike. Do you find the Holy Spirit telling you that? If you don't hear it. You need to pray that God will fill you with the Holy Spirit. That will be the tongue of fire. Where your tongue is under the control of the Holy Spirit. 25:39 Don't be satisfied with anything less than that. Don't just be satisfied. I spoke in tongues and babble something. Therefore I am filled with the Holy Spirit. No. Make sure you got a tongue of fire. That never gets angry. 25:59 That always speaks with the law of kindness. That's got a heart full of love for people. Otherwise you are not filled with the Holy Spirit. No matter what tongue you speak in. You are living in a deception. Don't be fooled by all this false teaching. 26:23 The Holy Spirit has come to make us holy. The Holy Spirit has come to give us supernatural gifts. to spread the gospel throughout the world. And to lead that to building the church. That's what we need to seek God for. 26:45 I want to show you Psalm 29. Psalm 29. See this verse. Psalm 29 and verse 2. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name. 27:08 And worship the Lord in holy dress. The word here is holy dress. That means when you come to worship the Lord. 27:29 If you don't have holiness. You are naked. Did you understand that? We all say we come to worship the Lord on Sunday. How do you come on Sunday to the church? We are so careful about our external clothes. 28:00 You look into the mirror and comb your hair. You take care of your external dress. That's good. That's good. But here is an inner dress. It's called the dress of holiness. 28:22 If you don't have this holiness. We are naked before God. Did you know that? Any time in your life. Any time in your life. It's not only when we come to the meeting. Because we should be worshiping God all the time. 28:46 Any time in your life when there is no holiness in your heart. You are naked. Keep this before you. The only dress God wants in my heart is the dress of holiness. Sin makes me naked. 29:09 We know that as soon as Adam and Eve sinned. Immediately they felt we are naked. Do you have that sense? As soon as you commit one sin. One word. One wrong look. Oh God I am naked. 29:30 My clothes are gone. We must have that sense of alertness to holiness from now on. There is only one dress which God accepts. It's holiness. And one sin will make me naked. 29:53 That is why as soon as I am aware of sin. I must confess it to the Lord. And if I have hurt somebody else. I must immediately go to that person. And ask that person's forgiveness. And put my dress on again. 30:15 Think if from now on. You say Lord I never want to be naked. In a single moment of any day. I always want to be holy. I always want to have a dress in my spirit. I believe your life will be fantastically effective for God. 30:42 And the name of the Lord will be honored through you. And God will be pleased with you like he was with Jesus. You don't have to be a preacher. You don't have to heal the sick. Keep your heart pure. 31:03 That is the most important thing. And that is how you keep yourself ready for the coming of the Lord. See 1 John chapter 3. 1 John and chapter 3. And let's read verse 2 and 3. 31:23 1 John chapter 3 verse 2 and 3. Here it speaks about the coming of the Lord. We know that when Jesus appears. We shall be like him. What's going to happen when Christ comes again. We shall be like him. 31:47 And if you have this hope. Then you will be like him. You will purify yourself as he is pure. How do you know you have the hope of Christ's coming? According to this verse. 32:07 You purify yourself till you reach this standard of purity. Not Job's standard of purity. Not Elijah's. Not John the Baptist's. None of them are my standard. 32:28 Elijah and John the Baptist are million times better than most believers. But even they are not my standard. My standard is Jesus Christ. Purify yourself as he is pure. 32:49 You know one of the accusations I have heard people make against us. Is this. Ah. You people are always purifying yourself. That is like saying. Ah. You people are always obeying 1 John chapter 3 verse 3. Is that a big sin to obey 1 John chapter 3 verse 3? 33:20 You are actually giving us a certificate when you say that. Because it says everyone. If you have the hope of the second coming of Christ. You will purify yourself. 33:41 And when will you stop purifying yourself? When you become as pure as Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. So then people say. So that means you don't do anything. You don't serve God at all. Now what are we doing right now? Now what are we doing right now? 34:05 We are serving the Lord. Why do we spend so many lakhs of rupees? Without taking any offering from anybody. Have you ever seen a meeting where we don't take an offering? That's what we have done in all our meetings for 35 years. 34:28 Whether we have 2,000 people or 20 people. We never take an offering. I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why it's completely wrong to take a bag in front of people to take an offering. I'll tell you why it's completely wrong to keep a box here. 34:49 And make everybody come one by one by one and put it in front of me. Because Jesus said. In Matthew 6. When you give money. Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. I remember when somebody said that to someone. 35:13 To a pastor. He said. Pastors are very clever. He said. Jesus said. That is only when you give to the poor. When you give to God. Everybody must see how much you are giving. How clever the devil is to put such ideas in people's heads. 35:36 That means the poor are greater than God. That when the poor you give. You shouldn't let anybody know. When you give to God. Let everybody see. Everybody see how much I'm giving. 35:57 What a deception. It's a principle. Whenever you do something good. Don't let anybody know it. That's the reason why we don't take an offering. We don't pass a bag around. We don't pass a plate around. 36:18 We don't make people come row by row and put their money in front. We don't judge any other church that does that because we are not anybody's judge. God is their judge whether they obey His word or not. 36:42 Our beauty is to see that we obey God ourselves. And the second reason is. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians chapter 9. In verse 7. That God loves a cheerful giver. If you put a bag in front of someone. 37:04 You may look this side and that side. He has to give something. He's not very cheerful about it. At least he has to put some five paisa inside. So that he gets some water. He's not doing it cheerfully. 37:28 If you make them come in line in front and drop the money in front of you. When the people are moving in line. You can't say no I'm not going. Again you're caught. So for the sake of honor. You'll go and put another five paisa inside. 37:49 So the people don't see the five paisa. You put your hand like this. So nobody can see it. Is this the church of Jesus Christ? Or some type of deception the devil has led church in? So what do we do then? We keep a box. 38:10 You don't know who puts it. When they put it. How much they put. Or nobody puts. Doesn't matter. God sees. It is enough if he sees. Does Jesus see. See Mark's gospel. 38:34 And chapter 12. Verse 41. Jesus sat down. Where did he sit down? He sat down opposite the offering box. Does Jesus sit opposite the offering box? 39:02 He doesn't take a bag around. He doesn't make people come in the front. But he sits opposite the offering box. And what is he watching? Read carefully. He is not observing how much they put inside. 39:23 He is observing how they put inside. What a difference. The pastor is watching. How much is he putting inside. But Jesus is watching. How is he putting? Is it secretly? 39:46 Is it joyfully? Is it only two paisa? Wonderful. Here is a woman who had only two paisa. She put it in. Verse 42. Jesus called his disciples. I want to tell you something wonderful I saw just now. 40:10 One widow. She had only two paisa. She put it there. I tell you. All the money in that box cannot equal this two paisa. 40:31 Verse 43. Have you ever heard a pastor speak like that in the world? That is how we believe offering should be given. Secretly. Only for Jesus to see. Cheerfully. If it's little, little. 40:54 There are many people to whom I have said like this. Brother, don't send any money to our church. You have a lot of needs for your own children. You're a poor man. Take care of your children. Provide for them. For their food, education. 41:17 God has got enough. He has got enough. He's the owner of all the gold and silver in the world. There are many rich people who are his children. And they will take care of all those needs. We operate differently in the area of money from all the other churches because of this reason. 41:46 Because we believe Jesus sits opposite the offering box to see how they put, not how much they put. He's interested in holiness in every area. 42:07 We must purify ourselves. Whenever we seek honor in something we do. Supposing you did a good thing. And you sought honor for it from people. Supposing you're praying in public. 42:27 In the meeting. And as you are praying. Your mind is going. What are these people thinking of my prayer? You have immediately become naked. Suddenly your clothes dropped off. 42:49 Dear brother, stop your prayer. Put on your clothes again before you continue your prayer. How many of you recognize this? That as soon as sin comes into your life, you're naked. Imagine if your physical clothes dropped off while you were praying here. 43:14 Brother, supposing your pants drops while you're praying. What will you do? Will you stop praying or not? Supposing your sari falls off, sisters, while you're praying. Will you stop praying or not? Of course you will stop. 43:36 Look at sin like that. Oh God. I was praying. I was seeking honor from you. I'm in. Why? I want to put on my clothes again. Lord, forgive me. Next time I pray, I'll be more careful to keep my clothes before I pray. 44:01 Just like you tie your sari tight and put some pin and all that and tie a belt so that your clothes don't fall off. Keep your heart holy like that. You become naked as soon as you sin. 44:23 There's something else I want to show you from the Old Testament. God wanted his people to know how serious sin was. I think Leviticus. I think Leviticus is a book which very few believers read. 44:51 But there's a lot. The main subject of Leviticus is holiness unto the Lord. If you can understand the spiritual meaning behind Leviticus. If you can understand the spiritual meaning behind Leviticus, you will see there's one emphasis in Leviticus. 45:13 Holiness unto the Lord. I don't have time to show you the whole book. But if you understand English. We have a CD called Through the Bible in 70 hours. And there is a whole one hour I've spoken on Leviticus. 45:38 You can listen to it. In a little while we will be publishing it in Tamil also. Actually, we've already got it I think in Tamil. I don't know whether it's been released yet. In Leviticus chapter 4. Listen to this. 45:59 And read it slowly. It's not a difficult thing to understand. You take some time to read Leviticus 4. 27 onwards. And you must read very slowly. It's talking about the common people committing a sin. 46:22 And we are all common people. And anyone. Any of the common people commit a sin. And it's not a deliberate sin. It's an unintentional sin. 46:43 Accidentally. Any of the common people committed a sin accidentally. In doing anything which the Lord said should not be done. He becomes guilty immediately. 47:26 But he doesn't know he's guilty. But verse 28. When he becomes aware of it. That will take some time. He's guilty from the time he did it. But he may be aware of it only after 24 hours or 2 days later. 47:46 Or 1 week later. God says you don't have to do anything until you are aware of it. But as soon as you are aware. Oh. I spoke in a rude way to my wife. 48:06 That thing I signed and got some money in the office was a false statement. That thing I did in the church was wrong. That time I preached or prayed. It was for my honor. I didn't know it when I was preaching or praying. 48:30 Later on it becomes aware. But I was guilty from the time I did it. But God holds me responsible only after I know it. How merciful God is. Even though you are guilty he doesn't hold you responsible until you know it. 48:53 But when you come to know it. If you are living in the Old Testament. What should you do? Get a goat. Say Lord I am a farmer. I don't have any goats. Go to the market and buy a goat. 49:15 What is the price of goat meat nowadays in Tamil Nadu? 250 rupees a kilo. Okay. Tell me what is the price of one goat. 49:36 4,000 rupees for committing one sin. Oh. I will stop sinning very quickly. And tomorrow another sin. Another goat. Do you see how the Lord was trying to tell people. 49:58 Sin is a very expensive thing. We have not understood it. You say brother I am trying not to sin. But I sin. I try to speak kindly. But I speak really good to my brother. 50:20 But I tell you if you have to buy a 4,000 rupee goat every time you speak rudely to your wife. You will speak very kindly to your wife from tomorrow onwards. When one day you will stop sinning. 50:41 What do we say? I don't have to pay goat. I don't have to pay goat. Blood of Jesus. What is that worth? 2 paisa. Goat means 4,000 rupees. Blood of Jesus. Blood of Jesus. That's like tap water. 51:04 You see how you treat the blood of Jesus as less than the price of a goat. That is why you never overcome sin. You understood now? Why these Old Testament people took sin more seriously than today's Christians? 51:31 One last verse. Hebrews 10. Verse 29. How much greater punishment do you think he will deserve? Who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and treated the blood of Jesus like a very cheap common thing 51:52 and insulted the spirit of grace? That word unclean means like a common thing like tap water. 52:18 The real word in Greek is common thing. That means you're treated the blood of Christ like something cheap. If you were in the Old Covenant you bring a goat for your sin. 52:42 And it is so expensive that you stop sinning. But now because it's the blood of Jesus you treat it like some common tap water that your hand got dirty you can just wash it. It says you have insulted the Holy Spirit 53:04 you deserve a greater punishment than all those Old Testament people. but our message is not a message of condemnation. There is forgiveness with God. 53:25 Let us repent. Forgive me Lord for taking sin so lightly. Help me to take sin more seriously. Value the blood of Jesus more. That's great. Heavenly Father 53:45 help us to take sin more seriously in our life. Pray in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. 54:26 Amen. Amen.
