So, a disciple's life has got a very important part 13:34 that is the inner life. In the Old Testament, that was not possible. But in the New Testament through the new covenant through the work of our Lord 13:54 and savior Jesus Christ by his shedding his precious blood and by sending the Holy Spirit, it is possible. We read a verse in Matthew chapter 13. Matthew 14:20 chapter 13 and verse 17. Matthew chapter 13 and verse 17. For truly I say to you 14:39 that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see and did not see it and to hear what you hear and did not hear it. So, Jesus is telling his disciples 14:56 that many of the prophets and righteous men they wanted to see but they could not see. They wanted to hear what you hear and they did not hear. Same thing Jesus is telling us also. 15:17 The old covenant time many people they could not see what we see and they could not hear what we hear because the inner component was missing. The inner heart was not 15:37 yet washed by the blood of Jesus Christ for them. The Holy Spirit was not given inside of them. The word of God was not the word the law was not engrafted in their hearts. 15:54 It's only in the new covenant it is possible. Jesus has said it. I'm writing my laws in your heart. I'm putting my laws in your mind. That is inside. In 16:12 13th chapter we read that Jesus was in a beach seaside and large crowds gathered to him. So, Jesus thought it's the right time to teach them. So, he sat 16:31 he got into a boat and sat down and the whole crowd was standing on the beach. And he spoke many things to them in parables. And ninth verse 16:49 the parable is over. And he says he who has ears, let him hear. And 10th verse, disciples are asking. They said to him, "Why do you speak to 17:07 them in parables? Why do you tell them only the stories? You are not explaining the meaning." For that Jesus says "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven but to them it has not been granted." 17:26 And he only talks to the disciples. He explains the meaning of the parable only to the disciples. I don't know, probably the many people who came and listened to Jesus, they left. Maybe Jesus would have passed for them some time. 17:43 And they all left. Maybe those people they are going back to their home, their grandparents or parents or relatives asked those people, "Where did you go?" We went to the beach and there Jesus was speaking. What was he speaking? 18:01 Yeah, he was speaking on some agricultural program. When you turn to our FM radio, we receive a lot of uh teachings on how to sow seeds and what type of manure you have to put, how to spray pesticides, what's the proportion you have to mix. 18:18 So many uh instructions for the farmers. So, these people would have told their relatives, "Yeah, Jesus was talking on some agricultural program and how to sow seeds and that we all know. So, we came back." That's what they would have told. 18:35 Because they did not know the meaning of the parable. Jesus never told them. Because Jesus knew what was in their heart. Even if Jesus tells, they will not understand. They will not have an insight. See this word, beautiful word, insight. 18:54 We all have outside. Eyes external eyes but are we have the sight in? That is called insight. Jesus tells them they don't have the understanding 19:12 they don't have the inner ears to hear. They don't have the inner eyes to see. That's the burden Jesus had when you read this 13th chapter. So, two groups of people 19:29 one group Jesus taught them parables and the mysteries were not revealed to them. The mysteries were not granted to them. And why it was not granted? Jesus says in this chapter. Jesus says "To you it has been granted." 11th 19:50 verse. "But to them it has not been granted. For whoever has to him more shall be given. Whoever has this inner ear and inner eyes the understanding, the insight 20:07 the spiritual heart which is sensitive he whoever has he will have an abundance, but whoever does not have even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore, I speak them in parables. Because while seeing they do not see 20:27 and while hearing they do not hear nor do they nor do they understand. Then he quotes a prophecy from the book of Isaiah. You will keep on hearing, but it will not understand. You'll keep on seeing, but will not perceive. 20:46 So in many places he says Jesus says, he who has an ear let him hear. What Lord, all of us are having ears? There are no deaf people here. Even one or two were there, but you healed them. All are able to hear. Why you are 21:02 saying? But Jesus repeatedly mentioned in many places, he who has an ear let him hear. Not only in the beach where people who are not regenerated are not interested in real spiritual life were there. But when you come to the book of 21:22 Revelation chapter 2 and 3 Jesus says the same similar thing. He who has an ear let him hear. For example, chapter 3 and verse 6 chapter 3 and verse 13 21:39 chapter 3 and verse 22 and even in second chapter he says verse 29 So these things are told to the church. The Gospels he was addressing to the common people. 21:59 But the last message of Jesus Christ was to the churches in Revelation chapter 2 and verse 3 2 and 3 both chapters addressing the seven churches. Out of which five churches they were to repent. 22:17 Jesus says, he who has an ear let him hear. That means in Matthew chapter 13 there were two groups of people. A group of people who don't have insight on spiritual matters don't understand what Jesus is telling 22:35 because of their heart condition. And coming to the church the church also there are two groups of people. One group of people who hear only with these ears and see only with external eyes 22:54 and they don't have any insight. They don't have any conviction. They don't have any repentance. And to them he says, if you have heard you'll hear and you will repent. 23:14 And in this chapter he says in Matthew chapter 23 alone in 10 places Jesus is mentioning about the inner ear or the inner eyes. Eighth verse 23:37 Jesus says about listening or hearing. Ninth verse He who has an ears he who has ears let him hear. 13th verse Because while seeing they do not see 23:56 and while hearing they do not hear nor do they understand. See hearing seeing the third step is understanding. Understanding in the heart. Again in the 14th verse he says you will keep on seeing, but will not 24:15 perceive. You will keep on hearing, but will not understand. Perception spiritual perception. See we have five senses and through these senses we perceive. This summer time I think Bangalore is uh 24:35 better but Vellore has recorded highest temperature in all of Tamil Nadu at least. Our skins are able to perceive the temperature, dryness. Eyes are able to perceive something. We see something and we come to a conclusion. 24:54 We hear something and come to a conclusion. Like that are we having the spiritual senses? In 1 Corinthians chapter 2 1 Corinthians chapter 2 Paul is telling things which ninth verse things which I 25:25 has not seen and ear has not heard and which have not entered the heart of man all that God has prepared for those who love him. He has revealed them through the spirit. For the spirit searches all things even the depths of God. 25:43 So there's a wisdom which the spirit only can understand. That spirit was not there for the Old Testament people and in the New Testament when Jesus was preaching those who only listen to the parables they didn't have the spirit. 25:57 And Jesus records in the Old Testament righteous people were there prophets were there they didn't have the spirit to enlighten the mysteries of God. So we come back to Matthew chapter 13 14th verse I just now mentioned about 26:12 perception perceiving things. 15th verse again he talks that they have ears Yeah, 15th verse the heart of these people has become dull. 26:30 The sensitive heart has become dull. See this mic is very sensitive. Every small sound it's able to pick up. Suppose it is not maintained properly so much of dust are deposited and cobwebs and 26:50 it is exposed to dirt and moisture and something is covering it up then it loses its In the same way heart loses its sensitivity when there is a lot of fat deposit. Jesus talks about it. Their hearts were 27:09 filled with fat. So here the hearts have has become dull and their ears they scarcely hear they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they would see with their eyes. They don't understand with their heart and repent. 27:27 And I would heal them. So 15th verse one more step he says hearing that leads to conviction that conviction leads to repentance and repentance produces healing spiritual healing. Most of us are spiritually sick. 27:47 So many things are to be healed. It's only the truth that shall set you free from all the spiritual sickness. That means the sin which I have to be free from. I have to cleanse myself from. And in 16th verse 28:06 blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear. Disciples were able to understand the mysteries of the kingdom. It is granted to you because they had a heart which is sensitive which is able to understand. 28:22 And 17th verse he says truly I say to you this I already mentioned the righteous people prophets they could not hear. And 19th verse if there is no insight 28:40 the devil comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. Anyone any anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it. So we are hearing the word of God we are reading the word of God we are reading 28:55 the spiritual books daily devotion we hear with these ears and these eyes see. But according to this verse if I go and don't go to the next step understanding what God is telling to me 29:13 understanding means personalizing the word of God applying the word of God to my own life situation my family situation my personal life my business life work life my church life what is it God is trying to convey to me 29:27 to my spirit. If you don't do that what or word I heard I have I have heard the devil snatches. He takes away the word of God total loss. All the seeds sown are completely removed. Just imagine you have a field 29:46 and you bought very good uh seeds. I went to a farm one day and the person told me, "This is a mango tree. This mango 1 kg 2 lakh rupees." Imagine. Very difficult to get the seeds. Spend so much money and get the seeds and they 30:05 So, somebody takes it away. But they they will be thinking, "Yeah, I have put the seed. Sometime the plant will grow grow grow, but nothing is growing." Same way we think we have heard the word of God, the seed is sown. 30:19 But already the devil has snatched, but we are still waiting something will come up. Some change would occur. We'll be disappointed. And yeah, devil snatches away. It's open for Satan, this heart. No protection. No 30:38 fence around it. 20th verse Yeah, receives with joy, but they're tempted. But 23rd verse, one who hears, understands, convicted, 30:57 really the fruit will come. Fruit will come. That's what Jesus is telling. So, and sees in the parable, Jesus is telling it's one thing that whatever is sown is 31:15 taken away. But further when you read, devil not only takes away, but he sows bad seeds, tares in our hearts. You have to be very careful that the tares, unwanted seeds, should not be 31:35 sown. Suspicion and things like that. So, mysteries Paul talks about the mystery, the body of Christ, oneness, fellowship. And he also talks about the mystery of godliness. 31:53 This we can understand only when we are having a sensitive heart. That's why psalmist says in uh praise in Psalm 119, "Open thou my eyes, Lord, that I may see the wonderful things in your word." Wonderful things in your word. God has 32:11 to open the eyes of our understanding, eyes of our heart. With this eyes and with the intellectual thing we can't understand. We will miss. We think that we are reading reading reading God's word. We are hearing the word of God, but we really miss. There's 32:24 no change in our lives. There's no growth in our lives. We are not able to hate sin. Our life has become stagnant. And when we read this parable, 32:42 he talks about the different kinds of land or soil. So, he talks about the meaning of this parable. He says, 33:00 "Some fell like on the hard rock, rocky soil. And there's no firm root in himself. It is only temporary. When affliction or persecution arises because of the word, they immediately fall away." 33:20 So, first he talks about the trials. When we are committed to God, when we have accepted Jesus Christ in our hearts, next thing comes to our life is the trials. Even James tells about it. He talks about it in James chapter 1. 33:38 When you undergo various trials, trials are because of the word of God. We want to live by God's word. Anybody who wants to live by God's word, trials will come. James chapter 1 and I'll read verses 2 and 3. "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you 33:57 encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And endurance have its perfect result that you may be perfect, complete, lacking in nothing." That is God's purpose for every one of us. 34:13 So, trials come. The purpose is to make us perfect. Purpose is to make us grow strong. I had a friend when he was studying. I went to the college and I I joined the hostel. I was so desperate to find some 34:31 fellowship in the hostel. So, I walked around the corridor the evening and in one room I heard a guitar uh noise. I thought he must be a Christian. I knocked at the room and I called him and asked him, "Are you a Christian?" He said, "Yes." 34:48 But he was not born again. He was a CSA Christian, namesake, and But then later on he committed his life. We both decided to have the same room and I shared about water baptism, anointing of the Holy Spirit. Whatever little light I had those days, started 35:07 sharing. And he's a bass guitarist. In the entire first year, he was mostly wanted for by the college choir because they go to different places, they give performance. And he decided to take baptism. Already he was baptized according to 35:24 their norms when he was a child. And there were many friends in the senior classes, fifth year, fourth year, and all. When they heard that he's going to take baptism, they all turned against and started uh giving pressure that he should not 35:39 take baptism. "What will happen to our tradition? We have all taken baptism. Do you think that it's all false? So much." And he too had to take a strong decision that I will not play singing songs. I will not come to orchestra for any 35:55 performance. That's another decision he had to take. So much of trouble he had to face. And there's two aspects because he wanted to live for the Lord. Because he wanted to obey the waters of baptism. And he was very firm. He faced 36:15 and we were all supporting him in prayer, encouraging him. And they tried and tried and tried and then said, "We can't change him." And they troubled me also telling that I am the cause for these things. It's okay. Last 36:34 Sunday in one church there was a baptism service. One of our students where I teach, she's doing a research. She also has given the name. And on that day her sister had come from her place. She said, "I'm going to take baptism." 36:52 That's all. She became so violent and informed the home and they all started telling she should not take baptism. It's a wrong thing. They are all Christians. And they locked the door from outside and she was not allowed to come to the 37:07 church. She couldn't take baptism. Every truth when we stand, we may have to face some trials, but we should not get discouraged. Here this group of people when they faced trials, they 37:26 fell away. Fell away first stage. For years, thousands of years people believed 1,500 years at least, people believed infant baptism. And then baptism by sprinkling. These are all deviations from the truth that 37:44 has become the tradition of the church, Catholic system. There arose some people who got light. They studied the word of God. Mysteries were granted unto them. They got the revelation. And one person, his name is Felix, 38:02 and he decided that only a believer should take baptism. And there's definitely salvation experience after being born again, one has to take baptism. And the church refused to believe that. So, they had to come out of that system. 38:18 They formed the first reformist churches. And he also had to fight along with Martin Luther. He's from Zurich where one of our brothers is there in Switzerland. And he was very firm. So much of threatening. He was invited 38:36 to the district council, inquired, and threatened and threatened. He said, "I will stand for truth. I will not compromise." If he had compromised, easy life, but he stood for the truth. And in 1,527, 38:58 the year 5th January, 3:00, they condemned him to death. Took him in the boat. Cuff was there and chains, his legs were chained. They took him to the middle of the river 39:18 and tied heavy poles and they killed him by immersing him. You believe immersion baptism? No, you die with immersion. At the time his age was 28 years. For many truths, people had to pay a price. Trials will come. 39:37 But are we standing for the trials, or are we going to choose the way of compromise? We choose the way of compromise, we fall away. But when we stand the time of trials There was a professor and under him might be a botany professor 39:57 and he many students were there. And one student he was teaching him. And the professor gave him a small sapling and he told him, "Okay, you plant it in your place. At the same time I will also plant it in my place. We'll see how it grows." 40:15 So, he was very He took it as a challenge and he went and he collected good soil and put it in a pot and after that he planted that and the sapling grew, planted in the ground. He'll be very prompt. Morning and evening he will water. 40:35 Measure and give the water. Whatever manure it needs he will supply. Took much care. And the result plant started growing with beautiful leaves. And he was taking so much of care. The professor he didn't have much time 40:53 to take care. He just uh planted it in some place and left it. Weekly once or twice he'll remember he'll pour water. It was not cared much. After some time uh trees it it became big. 41:11 And there was a heavy wind. And this boy's plant got uprooted. The other plant did not have much leaves and all, but it stood. He was really confused. I used to take so much care. Why it happened to my plant like this? In fact, more manure 41:28 and this care everything I gave. The professor was telling you started giving everything it wanted. So, the roots need not go in search of the manure minerals. There was no need to go deeper. It's all on the surface because 41:47 you've taken care. You fed everything. But outside growth flourishing. But the root did not go deep. But this plant on the other hand did not get sufficient water. So, it has to search go deep deep deep and search for water 42:05 minerals in the process the roots became very strong. Outside it is not very appealing, but root became very strong. I have fear about how we bring up our children. Are we too much protecting them? Giving everything they want. 42:24 They may not have roots deep. Yeah, they should face trials and difficulties in their lives. They should know what is the effect for some wrong things they do. Let them face the sequence consequences and learn. 42:43 Then only they they will have the roots deep and deep and deep and deep. So Jesus told about the trials. And next verse 22nd verse Yeah. You have stood in the trials. You are deep Your roots are deep. You 43:03 have grown. The external life for the boy who planted No, the external life was very flourishing. Lot of leaves and very attractive. People would have thought that is a very healthy tree healthy plant. They would have praised him. And this plant plant 43:20 very few leaves and all. But there's a disciple. The inner life. How is our inner life? Inner life we have to have the root deep inside. Be reading the word of God. Praying. Coming for the fellowship. 43:39 The spiritual efforts we take it's not a habit. It should become a relational thing. I love him. That's why I do him I do it. When I read the word of God mechanically if I read because I have to complete one chapter. Lord, what do you want me to do? 43:56 What do you want me to understand? Reveal to me Lord. Speak to me Lord. The mysteries. The revelation. Lord, give me a sensitive heart of Father. I don't want to have a heart filled with fat. So, 22nd verse Here 44:15 the seeds were sown among thorns. Thorns are something which is always near trying to prick us and come down. What are those thorns? Deceitfulness of wealth worry of the world and same passage you read other gospels Luke chapter 8 also 44:32 you read. Pleasures. The pleasures it comes the lust of the eyes lust of the flesh and pride of life. These things and in James chapter 1 we read they are the temptations. 44:49 James chapter 1 First we read about the trials second and third verses. And then we read 12th verse Blessed is the man who yeah pursues uh trial, but then 13th verse Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am 45:08 being tempted by God." For God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. And the lust has conceived it gives birth to sin and when sin is 45:21 accomplished it brings forth death. Do not be deceived my brothers. It's a deception. One brother was there earned a lot of money abroad. And very in the beginning was very careful. 45:40 Then somebody guided him, "No, if you invest here they give lot of returns." So he took all the savings he put in different different baskets. People say basket. This this this even if one fails the other will save. Like that he 45:57 has He was wisely doing it. But then emptied all the baskets and invested. >> [clears throat] >> Nearly a crore. And one year return was very prompt. After that see we are very prompt. Why 46:15 can't you invest some more? Another 30 40 lakhs. After that no response. Phone calls no answer. Completely cheated. And don't know what to do how to do. So, that's a deceitfulness of riches. 46:42 That lust makes you to invest in something without thinking it blinds your eyes then you lose everything. Deceitfulness of riches. Pleasures. Pleasures of sin is also like that. Temporarily it give you pleasures, but we don't see the consequences. 47:01 And worries of the world it's also equally bad. Worries. Lord I don't know what I will do. For this future I'm afraid. My son's future daughter's future. Worry worry worry worry. We read in Philippians 47:20 chapter 4 and verse 7 don't worry for anything. And Peter says cast all your burdens on the Lord for he cares for you. The peace of under peace beyond understanding will fill your guard your mind and heart. So another thing how we receive the word of 47:42 God. The same chapter we read that Jesus after finished these parables 53rd verse he departed from there. He came to his hometown. Verse 54. He began teaching them into their synagogue so that they were astonished 48:02 and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom? And this miracles miraculous powers?" They were all hearing the word of God from the synagogue from the church. They were astonished by hearing the word of God by hearing the revelations 48:20 by miraculous power of Jesus Christ. But then their focus shifted. Their focus shifted and what they are asking? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? Morning brother was telling when they 48:39 were they wanted to insult Jesus they would say the son of Mary. And his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things? Somebody would have said, "Hey, brother 48:56 of Jesus he was playing cricket. Yesterday he got hurt. No, we helped him. No. He's brother only." They started seeing his background his family background and missed what they should have received. The word of God is not going in. 49:16 When somebody shares God's word Oh, till yesterday he was an ordinary brother now he's made us a facilitator. He speaks what is going to speak? That's all. You lose. I know where he is working. I know where he is buying groceries. I 49:31 know. He's an ordinary guy. Now he's speaking. Yeah. That's how they missed the words of eternal life. And they took offense at him, but Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own household." The 58th 49:49 verse, it's a very sad verse, and he did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief. Our Our unbelief shifts our focus. Rather than listening and repenting, we talk about I know Who is it? This brother. 50:08 I know about your past. Are you are teaching us? I know your parents, what they did. I know your children. See how devil shifts our focus. And the result, I'm the loser. Jesus is not able to do any work in me. 50:26 Any work in me. I came I came empty and going back empty. As brother was telling, warming the chair. No, Lord. Whenever I come to you, Lord, I want to meet you. I want to touch you, Lord. Morning, brother was telling the person 50:44 was telling, "Testing the Lord." Testing the Lord. Touching the Lord. John says, "We have touched him." Peter says, "Words of eternal life is with you, Lord." Are we able to see from the word the words of eternal life? Wrong focus. 51:07 And missed the messages of eternal life. Recently I was I went to a eye doctor for my checkup. I had some issues, so I went for checkup. The doctor said, "You have to first 51:25 get a peripheral vision test." I've undergone twice or thrice. So, peripheral vision means how is my vision at the periphery? When the nerves are damaged, you will not be able to see what is there in the periphery. And nerves get damaged because of 51:45 the pressure in the eye, glaucoma. So, they made me to sit and in front of me it was a big disc, white disc. And at the center there was a yellow color light, small light. And the staff asked me to rest my chin and 52:05 focus on the light. You should not roll your eyes, eyeballs, to other areas. Only have to focus here. Okay. That's easy, but that's not very easy. So, I was focusing. And then they gave me a switch. And 52:24 the staff told me, "There will be some lights coming in any part of the disc, but you should not look at that. You should look only at this central part. Focus." So, I was seeing and one light was here. They said, "Whenever you see a light, 52:42 press the switch." Suddenly some here one light. I press. Here one light, press. Here one light, press. Every time I see the small light, I press the switch. Then the staff said, "Sir, we are canceling your test. Again you have to 53:00 start from the first." "Why, madam?" "You have rolled your eyes." >> [laughter] >> It is there recorded in the computer. I think I'm not rolling, but they are able to see. Our focus is shifted. Then again from the beginning I'll have 53:15 to do. But it's cumbersome. So, again focusing and sitting. I started doing it. Pressing every time light comes, I press press press. Test is over. But earlier I had gone to the test 53:33 where I do my work, take classes, then travel, and I sit, I sleep. >> [laughter] >> Because it's a sitting alone, you get good sleep. Then I so many lights I miss miss. But that time I applied for leave and I 53:55 was fresh, so I did not sleep. I was able to focus every time. Then the results came. They took the computer print and there was a circle. The doctor told, "All your vision is okay, but in this particular area light was there, but you didn't press 54:15 the switch." Cuz I didn't see the light. I didn't see the light. So, this particular area you are you are you will not be able to see here. So, focusing, looking unto Jesus, running this race, 54:35 not shifting our focus. But God gives light on some aspect of my life. I was reading this verse in James. You have to be slow to speak and 54:53 quick to hear. James chapter 1 and verse 19, I think. Reading and teaching, but when some situation come, I'm quick I was quick to speak. And God gives a light. I acknowledge the switch I press is 55:12 "Yes, Lord. I'm wrong. I'm sorry, Lord. Forgive me, Lord." Next time I want want to be very careful. Every time God gives me a light, I acknowledge, "Yes, Lord." Any time it may come. At which corner I don't know. It may be 55:30 my selfishness, it may be my hardness, it may be my unbelief. Any place God gives light. That he does perfectly. And if my eyes are not bright, my inner eyes. 55:48 That's why Paul prays, "Lord, I pray that they will have enlightened eyes, enlightened mind to understand." Whatever light you give, Lord, I want to receive it. I want to repent, Lord. And help me, oh Father. So, when I keep on 56:08 acknowledging the light, I grow from uh one level of spiritual life to the next level. You know, there was a king called Asa. And God gave him feedback through a prophet called Hanani. We read it in Second Chronicles. 56:27 And he became angry. And he put him into prison. Sometimes when somebody gives us a feedback, God may be giving a light about our selfishness or about our pride or what about our selfishness about anything. Are we eager to press the switch or are 56:44 we attacking them? We attack them. That prophet only has told, no? He who is whose heart is perfect, the eyes of the Lord are moving to and fro to show forth his power. So many are telling these verses, claiming these verses. 57:02 And I don't know where is Asa. But he refused to listen. Then he became sick. He had a terrible disease in his leg. See, when outside message is not working, God is so loving, he sends inside message. 57:20 And you know what is recorded? Uh even at the time of his sickness, he was searching for the doctors, but not seeking the Lord. He was not seeking the Lord. So, there's a situation. That's how our flesh is corrupt. 57:38 Yeah, we read that in Second Chronicles. 16, yeah. And verse 9 is the verse which I told. And he became very sick, 12th verse. And even when God sent a inner messenger, 57:55 he did not repent. Paul says, "So that I will not boast, God sent me permitted me the messenger of Satan." Paul was praying, "Lord, heal me, heal me." No, that's your protection for your protection. Don't pray, but I will give you grace 58:15 to withstand that, to undergo that. So, we don't know how God speaks to us. It's always better that we acknowledge when God gives light. May God help us to grow in our spiritual life and receive light, 58:34 acknowledge it, and let us have the inner ear, inner eyes. And then we'll be able to understand the mysteries God gives us. May God help us to grow. Thank you. >> Can you project the song Open my eyes, 59:44 Lord, we want to see Jesus? Not this, the other one. I think we know that song. Open my eyes, 1:00:07 Lord, we want to see Jesus. To reach out and touch him. It's Open [singing] my eyes, Lord. We want [music and singing] to see Jesus. To reach out [music and singing] and 1:00:30 touch him. And [music and singing] say that we love Open [music] [singing] my ears, Lord. Help me to listen. 1:00:49 Help us to [music and singing] listen. Open my >> [singing] [music] >> eyes, Lord. We want [singing] to see Jesus. [music] 1:01:06 Sing that once more. Open [music and singing] my eyes, Lord. We want [music and singing] to see Jesus. To reach [music and singing] out and touch 1:01:25 him. And say [music and singing] that we love him. Open [singing and music] my ears, Lord. And help [singing] us [music] to listen. 1:01:48 Open [singing and music] my eyes, Lord. We want to see Jesus. [music] We'll uh we'll hear from brother Parish. >> [clears throat] 1:02:27 >> May God's name be glorified. So, order I [clears throat] hope brother started there are two groups in the church. I would like to share about two groups. 1:02:51 Now I will read Psalm 23 Psalm 23 verse 4. And this is a song that we all know by heart. Psalm 23 verse 4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of 1:03:08 death, I fear no evil, for you are with me. Because God is with me, with us. Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death If 1:03:28 we don't fear. Because our confidence is upon the Lord and we have the faith that he he will not abandon me. >> [clears throat] >> Proverbs 20 22 20 20 1:03:47 >> 22 verse 13. Is he a brother? The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside. I'll be killed in the streets." A lion doesn't come on the streets. It's 1:04:07 it's out there in the forest. Even though there is no problem, the sluggard the lazy person says, "Oh, I can't go outside. There is a lion out there." There is a group which says, "Even 1:04:29 though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil." There is other group which is scared that the lion will come and attack me even in the streets. Psalm 84 1:04:48 verse 6 Psalm 84 verse 6. Psalm 84 6. Passing through the valley of Baca, they make it a spring. Baca in Greek means and it doesn't mean 1:05:11 barren dry. Weeping, a valley of weeping. That is a valley in Baca. Here we read that passing through the valley of Baca, it's may not it's not the real valley, but it's the valley of weeping. Even we go through a situation where 1:05:35 there is weeping, where there is so much of discouragement. They make it a spring. So, there are two groups. One group you 1:05:55 know, even though there is no problem, they say it there is a problem, there is a problem and they don't do anything. They will not be useful at all. There is another group, even though 1:06:16 there is a situation of life and death, they will have faith like how we meditated about Paul this morning. Even though they go through the valley of weeping dryness, they will change it to a spring. Near my 1:06:41 hometown, there's a lot of empty lands. Barren lands. >> Yeah. That's how it was. When we travel and used to travel through bus, both sides would be just 1:07:00 empty and dry lands. From different place, rich farmers came and bought this land for very cheap price. They dug bore wells. They dug deep bore 1:07:22 wells. Now, if you have to look at this place, you know, it's like it's like garden. Beautiful springs. They didn't think like that. 1:07:45 The owners are now thinking, "Oh, we sold this land for a cheap price." There is no yield. So, we see two groups of people. One 1:08:13 group, even though there is not much of problem, they say there is a problem, problem and they don't do anything. The other group, even midst of all the trials and problems, there will be so much of yield in their life. 1:08:31 And some, even though there is small sickness, they will continue to say, "I have the sickness. I have the sickness." But some brothers and families I have seen, they may be going through so much 1:08:50 of problems, big problems, but they will run as if there is no problem. Their focus is, "Oh, I need to be in God's work. I need to do this work. I committed to this work, so I will do 1:09:10 it." So, we see [clears throat] both the groups here. How are we? There's some poverty at home. Small sickness. 1:09:26 Small problems here and there. So, are we [clears throat] just focusing on our problems? There's a proverb in my village. If a monkey has a small 1:09:43 wound, it will continue to see that. If we stop focusing our problem and look into God who is the solution for our problems, we will run into him. So, problem when they ever 1:10:03 number one ticket they want to come problem is nothing. When is our problem becomes big? If you continue to see our problem, it's becoming big. But, if we look into God, it becomes a small thing. Psalm 84:5 >> [clears throat] 1:10:19 >> How blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion. If a man thinks that the Lord is my 1:10:40 strength, he'll be on the highways to Zion. other group Job 31:24 In other group, gold is their strength. On what for one group God is their 1:10:59 strength? Job 31 24 24 for the other group, the gold is their strength. If I have put my confidence in gold and called gold fine gold my trust. Psalm 27 seven 1:11:20 Psalm 20:7 Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the Lord our God. So, we see two groups in the world. One 1:11:49 group, their confidence is in the money and in gold and the wealth. They always seek after that. They think if money is there, I can do anything. And the booming Korea cannot they want to and they seek God with the with a 1:12:05 earthly perspective. I need to live a comfortable life in this earth. I should not face any problem. I should enjoy the world. There is one group like that. 1:12:28 There is other group who wants to please the Lord. They are heavenly minded. They are heavenly minded. Matthew chapter 16 Lord Jesus told Peter like this. You are seeing things with 1:12:49 earthly perspective. 16:23 Matthew 16:23 But, he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan. You are a stumbling block to me, for you are setting your mind on not setting your mind on God's interest, but man's." 1:13:07 You are looking in from the earthly point of view, not from the heavenly point of view. One translation puts it like this, "You 1:13:25 are looking into things from earthly point of view and not from heavenly point of view." I'm going to look at the other one now. Even in churches, we see that see about prosperity gospel. They want 1:13:43 to be blessed here on earth. And Paul got his miracle so he can be happy. But, Paul till the end, there was no healing. He had sickness. He continued to run. But, he said I completed my race. 1:14:06 If you go and ask Paul, "You completed your race successfully, but did you get healing?" No, I did not get healing. So, his sickness did was not a problem for him. Two type of people such as two type of people we see in the world 1:14:24 and we see in the church as well. Judges chapter 7 verse 5 Judges 5:7 Sorry, 7:5. Sorry, Judges 7:5. 1:14:44 >> [snorts] >> So, he brought the people down to the water and the Lord said to Gideon, "You shall separate everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps, as well as everyone who kneels to drink." We see [clears throat] two types of 1:15:02 people here. They all come for the battle. Wait to marry someone. Though they have come for the battle, they want to eat the stomach full. And they start to kneel down to drink water. Other group just take it by the hand and 1:15:25 they lick for their thirst. That is eat to live or live to eat. So, there are two groups. One group eat 1:15:44 to live, the other group live to eat. I work because I have a need for me and for my family. Their prayer is this, "Lord, meet my need. That's all is needed." If I have enough to eat and to clothe, 1:16:05 that's enough. And that's how Jesus lived. He said, "I don't have a place to lay my head." We have a place to lay our heads. We have food to eat. We have money to spend. 1:16:23 But, there is no satisfaction. And the value system Because their aim or their focus is that I need to earn money on this earth. I need need to go up. That's their value system. Some of them only two groups come. 1:16:48 of people who come to the church There's a group who come for blessing and for healing. or a heavenly minded or other way that There is other group who come with a heavenly minded who wants to please the Lord. We can see in the church two types of 1:17:10 people. The way they dress. Their lifestyles. [clears throat] And they will say that we are no less to the people of the world. They are modest dress for longer. That's 1:17:28 other type who dress modestly. In all the ways, they will have godliness. Some places, the parents would say like this. Brother, we would like to bring up our 1:17:45 children in a godly way. We want them to dress modestly. We want to bring them up with all fear of God and with all moral values and 1:18:03 with obedience. But, there's other group who comes to the church. And they will ask on what verse on the basis of which verse we are wrong. We have freedom. If you could say based on this verse, 1:18:23 what you are doing is sin, then we will change. So, one group they want to please and they are not a group other problem or problem or not. One group, they want to please the Lord. The other group, they all they see is is it 1:18:35 a sin or not a sin. And the group may be it is not sinful. Both groups, it's not sinful. But, one group whether it is lawful or not and other group whether it is profitable or not. One One group sees whether it's lawful or not. The other group sees is 1:18:51 it profitable or not. lawful or not On the word of basis of the word of God, it's not a sin. It's lawful. But, does it please God? No. Doesn't please God. 1:19:10 If you can or cannot do and there is a younger generation growing up in midst of this. And they see both the groups. >> The godly parents, they want to bring up their children in a godly way. And hence they have so many rules and 1:19:33 regulations at home. Brother Zach would say at a young age he he need to break their self will. Don't you buy them all they desire, all they want. Whatever is needed, you do that to him. 1:19:55 Sometimes, whatever they want, we should say no. You read in the Bible a boy who is left to his own desires will bring shame to his mother. I've heard brother Victor sharing like this. When a small boy would say there's idli 1:20:17 at home, he would say, "No, I want dosa." I will buy a cycle to go to a college. No, I want a bike. So, between the husband and wife, one says, "We have resources, why can't we buy?" 1:20:36 A stage will come. He will say, "I will get married to this girl." Get Get me married. But the parents may be ready, but the girl have to be ready, right? But they are not able to 1:20:54 you know, go through that defeat. And at the young age, those who, you know, love on one side, and when it when it's a failure, they're not able to tolerate that. And they go into they become a psychotic 1:21:17 patient. Because what's the problem from the young age, the parents bought them whatever the child wanted because they had resources for it. Even now, the parents want to give what the son wants, but they're not able to 1:21:37 do. As from a young age, they are growing up like that. What is the pattern that Jesus lived? Not my will, Lord, but your will. It's not the question of whether it's a 1:21:58 sin or not. Lord, does it please you or not? Of these two groups, where are we? Children, they see both the groups. Families, brothers, or men or women who 1:22:28 live according to the pattern of the world. The other group are modest, well-behaved, disciplined, obedient. Some parents have this problem, and they 1:22:55 say, "At home, we have this discipline, but when they come to the church, our children see the others, and they ask, "They are also in the church." Their parents are allowing them, but why are you not allowing us? Now these parents have a great struggle. 1:23:21 If the people of the world are like this, they can easily tell their children they are worldly, we can't follow them. But even in the church, when others are like this, parents also have a problem now. Sometimes, godly brothers and brothers 1:23:46 who stand at the front, their children will be like this. Because of the there is no oneness at home between the husband and wife, they're not able to bring up their children in the right way. What is the result? We are a stumbling 1:24:05 block. >> [clears throat] >> You read in the word of God that don't be a stumbling block to the Jews, Greeks, and the church. So, now I'm wondering in the weather when the Cindy put in the group that I 1:24:24 put in. So, let us ask ourselves, examine, and think, which group do we belong to? I thought about this. Lord, why have you kept both the groups of people in the church? Lord, why did you keep both the trees in 1:24:41 the Garden of Eden? If I eat from the tree of knowing good and evil, and if I will die, why can't you just uproot the tree? Only when we have both the trees, there 1:25:00 is a freedom of choice there. The old covenant, it is written you one 10%. Otherwise, you'll be cursed. Everybody will give 10% out of compulsion. So, we won't know who is giving out of 1:25:23 sacrifice. Who is giving with a desire, and who gives out of compulsion? You won't know. There is a choice there. God gives a choice. If you eat from this tree, it 1:25:42 will go well. If you eat from this tree, you will die. Only when there is freedom, we will be able to find out where he is leaning towards. Just like this uniform in the school, if 1:26:05 we say in the church, everybody will have to come in white and white. If you give a dress code for all those who come to CFC, This is the CFC uniform. And if we give rules for everything in 1:26:24 the church, Somebody else from a different church comes here and gets married to a boy or a girl. Or a angel that I could take care of in the park. They may think from in the first sight, oh, God has given a angel for me. 1:26:42 Now when they go there, they have freedom. They may think that I thought is a angel, now he's kicking he or she is kicking me like a donkey. There 1:27:05 I lived like I lived in a prison. I asked, but nobody gave. Reason, there's no freedom. Only when there is freedom in the church, Man who wants to please God will look 1:27:23 for people who who are godly. The worldly-minded and you are suited but a worldly-minded person will seek those who will suit me. So, number one is freedom in the group. That is why we give freedom in the 1:27:41 church. Only when there is freedom, we can judge ourselves to see whether we do it out of compulsion or to please God. We read in Judges one group, they wanted 1:28:07 to enjoy the world. Then why did they come for the battle? Because everyone about 20, they have to come and join like just they join just like they join a military. If he had come here thinking that, "Oh, 1:28:33 I got married, but I'm not able to enjoy. Bought a land, but I'm not able to do farming." When somebody the enemy, you know, raises the armor, he will run away. A brave man, when he dies in the battle, 1:28:56 but a coward, on the way to battle, he will die. Coward man, on the way only he will die inside, but body is going outside. But a brave man, once the bravery is 1:29:14 dead, then only the dead body will come. So, when our hope is on the Lord if it is to please the Lord it will be known or seen in our activities. Rooted down and fruits outside. 1:29:41 Only there is freedom we can decide which way we want to go. even in giving I want to mention another thing. Even in giving We can see two types of giving. Luke 21 1:30:07 Mark 12 also we read the same thing. Luke 21 verse 1 to 4. And he looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw a poor widow putting into two small copper coins. And he said, "Truly I say to you, 1:30:25 this poor widow put in more than all of them. For they all out of their surplus put into the offering, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on." She had [clears throat] put in all that 1:30:45 she had to live in. What does it mean? It was a sacrificial giving. She gave out of faith that the Lord will take care of me. Others may give more, but it's not out 1:31:06 of sacrifice, but to show that they are very generous people. Some will say if I have money I will give. If I have time I will give. If there is time I will read the Bible or 1:31:23 come to the church. Some those who go for daily wages if they take one day leave they will lose their salary. They will say, "Brother, I can't come because I don't have leave." I say it in my town whether Zach or much 1:31:52 or the Victor they all lost and came. One day if I take leave I will be lose my salary. I will be losing my pay. When they think like that how can they lose their job? How can they lose their job? How can they lose 1:32:11 their job and come for the Lord? All of us don't need to leave our jobs and come if God calls we need to do. God doesn't call everyone in the same way. But if we start worrying about even a 1:32:32 one day of loss of pay We come for our own benefit not for the church. For a conference, for a meeting if we come it will benefit us. We have hesitation to let go of one 1:32:58 day's wages or take one day off leave to come to a meeting for our own benefit and for the benefit of the family. Let's compare this. I'm not willing to give up 1:33:17 one day and on the other side who give up everything. Brother, why did you not come to the church? The brother there's no time for me. Throughout the night I was working. You know, I was awake the whole night 1:33:36 and I was working. All of the sudden my child become sick. The next day morning will we say that I I was awake the whole night? Will we tell the wife, "You take the child and go to the hospital. I need to 1:33:55 sleep now." No, it's very important for us We love our child so we won't do that. Because we love our comfort, we don't 1:34:14 want to let go of our comfort. I will do something for God. They will come and say and so forth. If my time or comfort or money, none of it is disturbed, then I may do something for the Lord. Even when comes to doing something for 1:34:41 the Lord we say when I have time and money and so many things. What is the real issue? We don't have the heart to do. But there is a proverb that says where there is a will there is a way. Yes. There is no willingness. That's the 1:34:58 problem. Like we heard in the morning, there's no time to read the Bible. One person asked like this, "You say there is no time for this and time for that, but you have time to sleep and to 1:35:17 eat." Perhaps we may skip a meal or skip one day of sleep, but will we continue to skip eating and sleeping? One day I didn't read the Bible or 1:35:37 didn't come for the meeting, that's fine. It's not a problem. It's not a sin. But when we say when I will I will do certain thing only when there is time, there is a problem. In a train engine 1:35:57 should always be at the front. When the engine is at the front, it can carry any number of coaches. If we keep the coaches in the front and keep the engine 1:36:15 at the back it will find it difficult. Two Samuel 24:24 even in giving. We read about David there. We all know these verses. 1:36:36 Second Samuel 24:24. Second Samuel 24 verse 24. However, the king said to Araunah, "No, no, but I will surely buy it from you for a price. For I will not offer burnt offerings to 1:36:53 the Lord my God which cost me nothing." Without any problem for me I just get it for free and give it to the other person. All that we have is from the Lord. Samuel said Sorry, David. David said 1:37:15 took it from you and we're giving back to you. Other was here I want to give it to the king and so forth. But he was not willing to get it for free from a man and offer to the Lord. And all [clears throat] of them 1:37:35 There is a narrow way and a broad way. Narrow gate, broad gate. Narrow gate and a broad gate. The garden of Eden there were two trees. Everything there's two options. Even midst of the problems they say 1:37:59 there is no problem for me and they turn their lives into a lush green by the grace of God. And when there is no problem we can be spiritual spiritually sluggard and lazy and say, "Oh, I can't do this. I will 1:38:19 not be able to do this."
