He filled us with His Holy Spirit. He filled us with His Holy Spirit. He filled us with His Holy Spirit. 27:52 He filled us with His Holy Spirit. He filled us with His Holy Spirit. There shall no longer be any mourning or crying or pain. The first things have passed away. And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." 28:11 And these words are faithful and true. Our Father in heaven, we bow down before You. 28:36 And worship You for who You are. The Creator of the whole universe. The only true and living God. We thank You and we praise You. We bless You. We worship Your majesty. 28:57 Lord, we thank You that You are worthy to be praised, honored, glorified, exalted. Thank You, Lord, that You have done all things well when we were dead in our sins and trespasses. Lord, You have quickened us. 29:19 You have made us alive and had mercy on us and forgave all our sins. And You said You will remember them no more. And You have given us Your Spirit to continue the work of sanctification till we become like You. We thank You, Lord. 29:36 We thank You for this blessed hope that we have. That we can be like You. And we can walk with You in this world. And that we can honor and glorify You while we are here on this earth. And we thank You that You have promised that the God of peace shall soon crush Satan under our feet. 30:02 We thank You for such glorious promises. And He who has begun a good work in us will complete it till the day of Jesus Christ. We thank You, Lord, for all these precious and magnificent promises that You have given to us to be like You. 30:22 We thank You once again this morning. We give You all glory, praise, and honor. Dear brothers and sisters, take this opportunity. Express Your heartfelt gratitude, praise, and thanks to the One who sits on the throne forever and ever. 30:41 We praise You, Father, that You have done all things well and You will complete what concerns us. We thank You that You are our burden bearer. You have blessed us with every blessing in the heavenly places. We thank You, Father, that You have made us your sons and daughters. 31:03 And You have crowned man, Lord Jesus, to be the crown of creation. You have created him to be. We thank You that You are faithful to what You have promised. And we pray even this morning, Lord, that You will be glorified in our midst, 31:24 that we will experience Your presence and the sweetness of fellowship and the encouraging words that You have for Your people. Lord, we pray that You will anoint Your servants, that You will fill them with Your Holy Spirit, 31:43 that You will give us the word that the church needs, that everyone needs. Dear Father, we pray for Your special grace and anointing on Your word. Dear Father, be glorified, be exalted in our midst. This morning we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. 32:03 Amen. Please take your seats. We will look at our memory verses. Last week we had a promise from Exodus 14:14. Please repeat after me. 32:24 Exodus 14:14. The Lord will fight for you if you keep silent. Go to the end of the Old Testament and work your way backwards to Malachi, Zechariah, Haggai and then Zephaniah. 38:07 Zephaniah chapter 2 and verse 3. It is spoken to those who have already dressed themselves with proper dress. That means you are clothed with humility. Good. Then this is addressed to those who are already dressed. 38:27 All you humble of the earth, seek righteousness and seek more humility. So what is the exhortation to humble people? Seek for more humility. humility. Like you know in the world, when people become richer, they put more grander dresses. 38:54 The more you walk with the Lord, seek for more humility. That's the dress. So I don't plan to speak for long today because the youth have a program later on and someone 39:16 else is speaking after me as well. So I want to say something more about, you remember what I said on the, on Sunday we said our motto for this year is what? On that verse up there. Be merciful to others just as. 39:39 That's the important part. God has been merciful to you. That's our motto for the whole year. And that's just as is the thing you have to meditate on. You may think you're merciful, but press on to perfection. 39:59 Perfection is just as God has been merciful to you. I meditate on that. I've been a believer 64 years, 65 nearly this year. But I still meditate on, I'll tell you what. What a great sinner I was and how Jesus had mercy on me. 40:21 And I have, I want to remember that towards others. When I see other people, their failures, mistakes. I remember that verse. Lord, you've been so merciful to me in days when I slipped up or fell away. 40:41 I know it's 50 years ago, but still I never forget it those days. God's been very good to me ever since CFC started. My life changed completely. It's been an upward progression all these 48 years. But I praise God for that. 40:57 But it was not like that before. I found that before that I had God's word and the blood of Christ. God's word I read every day for 16 years. But I needed the blood of Christ because I fell, get up, fell, get up. 41:20 That was my early Christian life was like that. Then, God filled me with the Holy Spirit. That's number three. Word of God, the blood of Christ, fullness of the Holy Spirit. And he showed me what the actual way of the cross was, number four. 41:37 The way of the cross of death to self. But still, my hand was not complete. One more finger was needed. I had the blood. I had the word of God. I had the fullness of the Holy Spirit. And I knew I must die to myself daily. 41:58 I needed one more thing. The body of Christ. That was the church. And that God gave me when CFC started in 1975. That completed my hand. And you know, it's much easier to hold something with all five fingers than to hold something 42:16 with two fingers. Yeah, I can hold things with two fingers. But people can pull it out of my hand. It's held with all five fingers. People can't pull it out. Have you got all five? Do you believe in the word of God? Do you read it regularly? 42:33 Every day? Even if it's a few minutes? Are you sure the blood of Christ has not only cleansed you, but blotted out your past? So he says, "I will not remember your sins anymore." 42:53 I don't believe God remembers my past sins. I have zero condemnation about all the past failures in my life in those early days after I was born again. Because God says, "I don't remember." But 2 Peter 1 says, "It's better you remember what God saved you from." 43:16 Paul remembered till the end of his life, "I'm the chief of sinners, God saved me." God doesn't remember. That means I don't have any condemnation. But why do I sometimes think back to how I failed the Lord? Because that helps me to be merciful to others. 43:34 I say, "Lord, once I was also failing like that, see where you brought me. I believe you can bring them." Don't give up hope for your children. Some of you, maybe your children are a bit astray. Where were you when you were that age? 43:51 Probably worse than your son or daughter. But you're sitting in the church today. In one of the best churches in Bangalore. You're sitting here. And where were you when you were a teenager? You're sitting here. Have hope for your children. 44:07 Don't give up hope for any of them. Look at your own life and have hope for them. God loves you. God loves them. The blood of Christ will cleanse them. Word of God, the blood of Christ. Seek every day to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 44:28 Not just once, every day. Ephesians 5:18, the real translation is, "Be being filled with the Spirit." You know, like we drink water. Doctors say it's a good thing to hydrate yourself with water. So that you don't feel thirsty. 44:47 The body cries out for water every day. And if you're sensitive, your spirit is crying out, "I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I want to drink more of the Holy Spirit." So, be filled. The translation of that verse is, "Be being filled." 45:07 That's the real meaning. Continuously. The fullness of the Holy Spirit is like breathing. Some people have breathing difficulty. And they need to do some exercises. But the rest of us, we breathe even when we are asleep. 45:25 Otherwise, we'll die. Is it three minutes that you stop breathing when you die? Something like that. So, be being filled with the Spirit. Equate Spirit, the Holy Spirit with breathing. Lord, I want to be filled with the Spirit every moment. 45:43 Like I breathe every moment. And then fourth, take up the cross every day. That is a message almost not preached in any church today. Die to yourself every day. Okay, when somebody hurts your feelings by something they said or did, what do you do? 46:11 You say to yourself, "A dead man feels nothing. I want to die." I want to die. To myself. To that feeling I got just now. Because that chap hurt me. And I want to love in return. Because that's what Jesus did. 46:31 That's taking up the cross. Lord, I want to be like a dead person here. The Holy Spirit helped me to die. I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. To die to myself every day. Jesus said, "Take up your cross every day." 46:47 We need to read the Bible daily. But Jesus could not say that. Because there was no written, printed Bibles those days. How could he tell people to read the Bible when they didn't have one? Printed Bibles have been available only for the last five, six hundred years. 47:01 But one thing Jesus said, "Do daily" is, "Die to yourself daily." Especially in your home. You've heard me speak. And the fifth one, of course, the body of Christ. Never forget that. So, those of you who have heard me speak, have often heard me speak of the church as a three-story building. 47:21 The foundation, very important. God loves you as a loving father. Never move away from that foundation. All anxiety, fear comes when you move away from that foundation. Never. See, don't lay your foundation in one place and go and build your house somewhere else. 47:43 Build your house where you lay the foundation. Every sensible man does that. God is my father. He will never leave me nor forsake me. And if I, to the best of my ability, seek to please him and his kingdom first, everything I need in life will be added to me. 48:04 Everything. So, don't be anxious. That's the foundation. And then on top of that, ground floor. Or the first story. Keep a good conscience. Always, always, always, keep a good conscience. 48:24 A prick in your conscience is like a thorn in your foot. Take my advice. Otherwise, your foot will get infected. Your conscience will get infected. After some time, it will die. Some people's conscience is dead. They do so many things. 48:35 They do so many things. How long do you wait? How long do you wait? Before you take a thorn out of your foot? Not even 15 seconds. Keep your conscience like that. Remember, a prick in your conscience is like a thorn in your foot. 48:48 Take my advice. Otherwise, your foot will get infected. Your conscience will get infected. After some time, it will die. Some people's conscience is dead. They do so many wrong things and they don't get convicted. That's the ground floor. 49:05 First story. On top of that is what we call the first floor or second story. That's your family life. Not church. Family life. How you live at home. Children. How you obey your parents. How you respect your parents. 49:26 How you apologize whenever you hurt your parents or disobeyed. husband and wife. Learn to apologize to one another. And forgive one another. And don't remember it again. Like God says, I won't remember your past. Even if you don't tell your wife or husband that, your attitude should be, I don't remember all the foolish things my partner did. 49:53 Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. 50:02 Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Last year or last week. Just like I don't want him to remember all the foolish things I did. Second story. 50:10 Children. Respectful. The atmosphere of heaven can come into your heart. Don't force your children. Don't blame your children rather. For not being respectful and obedient to you. If you yourself. As husband and wife are not living properly. 50:32 That's where you must begin. Doesn't begin with the children. It begins with the husband and wife. Your children are watching you. Make sure you walk in humility. Towards each other. Asking forgiveness from each other. And forgiving each other. 50:55 I'm not. That's not perfection. It means. I pull out the. Thorn as soon as it hurts my foot. In family life. Thorn hurts you. That means. Or you hurt somebody else with a thorn. Ask forgiveness. Pull it out. How do you pull it out? 51:15 By asking forgiveness. Or within the church. If you hurt a brother. Or sister. By something you said or did. Humble yourself. And go and ask forgiveness. Call the person on the phone. And say I'm sorry. And when you say you're sorry. 51:30 To your husband or wife. Don't say it like this. I'm sorry. But remember what you did. Please. That's not asking forgiveness. That's trying to make that person more guilty. I wouldn't have done that if you hadn't done this. 51:48 Ah. That's not the way. I'm sorry. It was my fault. Please forgive me. Tell me how I can set it right. Full stop. Can you say that? You'll find it difficult. The words sort of get stuck in the throat. I'm sorry. 52:08 It was my fault. Please forgive me. How can I set it right? You don't have to repeat those words. That spirit must be there. Imagine. If all our families began to live like that. And the children watched their parents. We'll have heavenly homes in this church. 52:30 And this church will be a heavenly church. Heaven on earth. That is why Jesus came. He came to make our lives heaven on earth. Whereas formerly our lives were hell on earth. Many homes are like hell. CFC is seeking to transform them into a heaven. 52:52 There are some families sitting here who will testify. Our home was like hell. Always fighting, arguing, quarreling. But it's changed. We are not exactly fully like heaven. But we are pretty close. Thank God. Then the top floor. 53:13 Which is the church. That's also important. Don't stop with family. Church means I fellowship with others. We don't come to church just to attend the meetings. You are very selfish. If you come to attend the meetings, go away. 53:32 It's not a restaurant. In a restaurant, after you eat and pay the bill, what do you do? Do you sweep the floor or wash the kitchen or anything? No. You go away. Goodbye. You come here to eat. I put my money in the offering box. 53:52 That's my payment. And I go. Restaurant. But in a home, there is no payment. Like this church, there is no payment. Everything is free. That's home. Other churches are like restaurants. I like restaurants. You have to pay. 54:08 This is home. This is not a restaurant. But so, you can't walk away after you eat. Eat means after you've heard the message and all. A lot of work to be done. Some people sweep the floor. Some people clean the toilet. And some people do all types of things. 54:23 There's work to be done. And maybe you're too old to do that. That means if you're over 80. All who are over 80 are old. The rest are young. In a few years, I'll make it 90. But right now, it's 80. Help where you can. And if you can't do anything else, at least you can encourage people. 54:45 Don't go with a long, gloomy face. There's enough problems in the world. When people come here, they want to see happy, smiling faces. And you say, I have a lot of problems. Okay, fine. But Jesus is still on the throne. 54:59 Smile because of that. And let your life be a testimony. Very, very important. And I want to give you a promise before we go on. And that's Hebrews. Chapter 13. Last chapter of Hebrews. Remember, last chapter of Hebrews. 55:23 What does it say? Verse 5. Chapter 13, verse 5. Make sure that your character is free from the love of money. What a word. 55:45 Make sure that your attitude is free from the love of money. Earned money? Earned money? Yes. Jesus earned money as a carpenter. Because he had a widowed mother. Joseph had died. Four younger sisters. Four younger brothers. 56:06 And two younger sisters. You read that in Mark chapter 6. So there were eight people in his home, including himself. And if you've got eight people in your home, father and mother and six children. Very few. Hardly anybody. 56:24 Jesus had eight. Mother, himself, four brothers, two sisters, seven children and a mother. And he was the eldest. And he worked as a carpenter because Joseph had died. He had to take the responsibility. He was probably 18 years old and Joseph had died. 56:42 And for 12 years he works as a carpenter. Is it good to make profit when you do business? For example, you're running a shop. Should you give it all at cost price or with a little profit? Don't be super spiritual. 57:02 Be sensible. I ask you a question. When Jesus made a table as a carpenter and sold it to somebody who ordered a table. Do you think he made a profit on that table or not? Yes or no? No or yes? 57:22 Of course, if he didn't make a profit, how will he support eight people in the home? If he sold it at cost price, they'd be starving. Which teaches us that if you do business to make a profit, it's not wrong. In fact, it's what Jesus did. 57:36 If he made a stool and gave it to somebody, he'd get the profit. And if it was a very poor person who couldn't afford it, he may give it free. Occasionally. But he couldn't give it free to everybody. But he made a profit. 57:52 He had to buy clothes for his brothers, sisters, take care of his mother, provide food. There's nothing wrong in making profit in your business. Don't cheat anybody. Jesus never cheated anyone. How much profit you have to make, that's up to you. 58:09 It depends on the cost of living and so many things. Nazareth was a cheap place, not like Bangalore, it's so expensive. You have to make more profit here than in Nazareth. Cost of living is higher. There's nothing wrong in that. 58:21 Absolutely nothing wrong. You're not cheating anyone. So, Jesus earned his living. So, love money does not mean you shouldn't make profit. Love money means your mind is always how to make more, how to make more, how to make more. 58:34 If you're just getting very little, then you really need to think how to make more money. Maybe find another job or... There's nothing wrong in saying, can I earn a little more? Because cost of living is going up. There's nothing wrong in seeing, is there some way I can earn a little more? 58:47 Absolutely nothing wrong in it. That's not love of money. You're trying to survive. We're not all millionaires sitting over here that can afford to do nothing. We have to work to earn our living. So, when it says, love of money is... 59:01 I don't think most of us would be having that, but a lot of people do. Be careful. But this is the part we can all listen to. Be content with what you have. That's a very important word. Because the danger is, you can look at some other family here and say, 59:22 "Boy, they've got that." And it's usually the wife who will tell the husband, "I want that." You go visit a home and you say, "Hey, they've got something I don't have." That covetousness comes. In Colossians chapter 3, it says, "Covetousness is idolatry." 59:44 We don't have an idol here, like in temples and all, which people bow down and worship. But you go to somebody's home, and you see something which you don't have in your home, that can become an idol, and you bow down to it by telling your husband, "Get me that." 1:00:00 Now, if it's something necessary for your home, or something to make life easier for your home, there's nothing wrong in that. "Covet, I see something else, I covet that." That is really the meaning of the lust of the eyes. 1:00:13 Sexual sin is the lust of the flesh. Lust of the eyes, I think in the Living Bible says, the desire to buy everything that you see. That is the lust of the eyes. You see something, I want to buy that. You see something else, I want to buy that. 1:00:27 You see something else in somebody's home, I want to buy that. That is the lust of the eyes. And I think women have it more than men. You always thought men had more lust of the eyes, right? You understood something today? 1:00:40 It's not just sexual lust after a pretty woman. It is the lust to buy anything that you see somewhere, which somebody else has, and you want it in your home. Get rid of that lust and say, be content with what you have. If you can afford to buy it, and you find it useful, buy it. 1:00:59 And one more thing about money. You know, in Proverbs chapter 6, I don't have time to show you that. It says, "Go to the ant, you lazy man." Read it sometimes in Proverbs 6. "Go to the ant, you lazy man, and learn from the ant." 1:01:15 Maybe I should show you that verse. A very important verse. Proverbs, chapter 6. All of you know where Proverbs is, immediately after Psalms. Easy to remember. Proverbs 6:6. 1:01:36 "Go to the ant, you lazy man. Observe its waves." Observe means not look. Observe means look carefully. Not look at its waves, but look carefully at an ant. And learn wisdom from an ant. How many of you have ever thought of learning wisdom from an ant? 1:01:58 I'll tell you, I have learnt wisdom from the ant. And I believe there are many believers sitting here, who need that word. Learn wisdom from that small ant. Have you seen these little ants that crawl around your house? See what it does. 1:02:17 It doesn't have an elder brother. It doesn't have a king or president or ruler or no chief, no officer, no ruler. Nobody to tell him what to do. But, it prepares its food in the summer. What is that? You know what these ants do? 1:02:37 They go and collect one grain of rice. I've seen sometimes an ant crawling with one grain of rice they found somewhere. Going, going, going, going slowly to the hideout. Maybe it's to feed their little ones, I don't know. 1:02:53 But one grain. It's like a major meal for an ant. And, it does that trip so many times. And the ant realises, now is the time, plenty of food is available, summertime. Collect it, collect it, and stored up. 1:03:13 Why? Because that ant's brain, you know, can you think of the size of an ant's brain? The ant itself is so small. What is the size of its brain? And in that brain, it is thinking, winter is coming. And you won't get so much food. 1:03:32 So you better store up something. And so it collects, collects, collects. What for? Because in 3-4 months it will be winter. And then, there won't be, so it prepares food in the summer and during the harvest time. Because in those days, people, almost everybody was a farmer. 1:03:54 There were no office jobs in those days. Farmers, farmers, everybody had harvest. They had their own fields. Harvest time, plenty of food. So the ant says, this is the time, there's plenty of food. Let's store up for our own home also. 1:04:07 In some little corner, some little, small little corner, they store up the food for winter. Okay, what should you learn from that? Save money for the future. When you may be in need and you don't have money. You won't then have to go and borrow from somebody. 1:04:31 That is what it says, you lazy man, learn from the ant. So don't spend everything that you earn. Save some of it. Save some of it. Keep it for the future. And that tiny brain, it knows I must save for the future. 1:04:54 I must keep something for my children. It's a very, very good habit. I used to think, did Jesus have his savings account? Yes or no? I'll tell you who his banker was, Judas Iscariot. Not a very faithful banker but 1:05:16 He was keeping Jesus' savings account. People gave, Jesus never asked for money. But we read in Luke chapter 8, people gave him money and he took it. He never asked. But he was not working so people gave him money and he took it. 1:05:32 And what did he do? Did he say, oh today's money must be spent today? No! He says, Judas keep it. We may need it next week. When we go to Jerusalem, we have to rent a small inn or something. We have to stay in. We can't all sleep in the streets. 1:05:49 Save it for the future. That's what Jesus did. And the result was, Jesus never, never had to borrow or beg throughout his life. I can say that. I'm 84 and a half years old today. 1:06:12 I have never had to borrow or beg for one rupee in my entire life. Never been in debt. And I was not earning a lot of money. I was living like Jesus and Paul. Trusting God for my needs. Never telling anybody my needs. But thankfully I had a wife who was more simple than me. 1:06:36 And more frugal and careful with money than I was. And so we could live very simply. We could feed our four sons and educate them and everything. Of course they got scholarships so education was taken care of by God. But the point is that we sought to live like Jesus even in the area of money. 1:07:04 To save so that you may need it next week or next month. And you say, was that a lot in that savings bank? What do you think? You've got to read, there's a saying in English called, read between the lines. It means, don't just read what's written there, but think in between what happened. 1:07:25 For example, how do you find out whether there was a lot of money in Judas' savings bank or not? I'll tell you. Because I read that Judas was stealing money. If there was only 10 rupees in it and Judas stole it, everybody would have known, 1:07:42 "Hey, the bag is not jingling." What happened Judas to all that money? But the bag was jingling all the time. And Judas was still stealing. What does that prove? There was a lot of money in that savings bank. What did Jesus do with that money? 1:08:01 I'll tell you. John chapter 13. This is the one sentence that tells me what Jesus did with money. It's a tremendous help to me throughout my life. Jesus' attitude to money. John chapter 13. When he told Judas Iscariot, "Go and do whatever you want." 1:08:24 People did not think he was going to betray him. None of the disciples knew that Jesus told Judas, "Go and betray me." He said in verse 27, "Satan entered into Judas." John 13:27. Then Jesus said, "What you do, do quickly." 1:08:41 That means go and betray me quickly. That's what he meant. But none of those sitting at the table knew what, why has Jesus sent Judas away? And they thought because Judas kept the money box. So it was a box, not just a bag. 1:09:00 Jesus was saying to him, "Buy what you need, number one, give to the poor." Full stop. What are the two things Jesus said to Judas? What they thought. Why did they think like that? 1:09:21 Because that's what they heard him say many, many times in those three and a half years. Judas, you got some money there. Buy what you need, give to the poor. Next week, Judas, buy what you need, give to the poor. They heard it so many times that on that last supper, they thought he was telling him to buy what you need, give to the poor. 1:09:47 That God gave me a guideline in my life. How should I spend my namanani? Buy what you need, give to the poor. Simple. Now how much do I need? That is different for different people. I know in America, where buses are not available in most places, people have to go to work, children are working. 1:10:12 Sometimes people need three cars or four cars in one house. Because three of the children are working and there's no buses or trains to take them to work. How do they go? Father has to work, sometimes mother has to work, or mother has to go to the store. 1:10:30 Three, four cars in one house. Need it? Yes. Here in India, rare to have even two cars in a house, one. And in most houses, a scooter. I rode a scooter most of the time. I occasionally used my mother's car, but I couldn't afford to put petrol in it. 1:10:51 But it was a scooter. It was more than that. Forty-two years I rode a scooter. It was very, very good for me. And many of you drive scooters. But I remember the early days when we started CFC, people came by bicycle. Or bus. 1:11:05 So, buy what you need and give to the poor. And don't decide what somebody else needs. If you see somebody else having two cars in his house, maybe he needs it. And don't judge him. That is being a busy body in other people's matters. 1:11:24 It's a big sin that many believers, particularly women, make. Why does he have that? They tell their husband, "Did you see how that sister was dressed today?" Why does it bother you how she's dressed? Did you see what she was wearing for the wedding? 1:11:44 Aha! Did you see the number of bangles on her arm? What all things we watch instead of doing what the Bible says, stir one another to love one another. Give up these habits, brothers and sisters. Prepare for the coming of the Lord. 1:12:06 Encourage one another to be more wholehearted disciples. Don't look with the eyes of judgment. What is that verse, our motto? Look with the eyes of mercy. Maybe they need that. Be merciful to others as God has been merciful to you. 1:12:31 Buy what you need, give to the poor. Turn back to Hebrews 13. Be free from the love of money. Be content with what you have. Why? 1:12:52 Because God your Father says, "I will never desert you. I will never forsake you. I will never leave you alone." What a promise! 13.5, I will never abandon you. I will never leave you. Do you believe that? 1:13:15 What a wonderful promise. And because he says that, next verse, therefore, listen to what it says. It is not that we can say this. What does it say? We can confidently say this. The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid 1:13:34 of the future, of sickness, of poverty. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Man may trouble you in many ways. They even persecuted the early Christians. 1:13:55 But they said, the Lord is my helper. What can man do to me? Only, I will tell you what man can do to you and me. Only what your Heavenly Father permits. Isn't that good? The Heavenly Father is the doorkeeper with his angels. 1:14:17 When somebody comes to do anything to you, God determines whether he is allowed inside to do anything to you. Did some of you lose your job? Your boss had to get your Heavenly Father's permission. 1:14:38 I am going to fire him. And your Heavenly Father says, okay, I will get him another job. Would your earthly father do that? Definitely. How much more our Heavenly Father? I will never desert you. 1:15:00 I will never forsake you. You say, Brother Zach, you are teaching us like little children. Yes. We need to become like little children to learn these simple truths which can change our life. I will never desert you. I will never 1:15:15 forsake you. Let it be drilled into your head. The Lord is my helper. So I will not be afraid. What will man do to me? And then it says, remember your leaders. Remember those who preach to you. 1:15:36 How did they live? How did the translation is there in the margin of my Bible. It says, see how they ended their life. See how they grew older and how they 1:15:56 lived when they were older. How your leaders lived when they grew older. Did they change their convictions? I was 35 years old when CFC started. And as I said, I'm going to be 85 this year. 1:16:19 Many of you have known me for a long, long time. Have I changed my convictions? Those of you who know me for a long time, have I changed what I preach? Have you seen me living by different standards than I had those days? 1:16:41 Have I taught different things, how we should bring up our families? Have I depended on any man more today than I did 50 years ago? Remember your leaders, not only me, there are other leaders. A godly leader, you have to 1:17:00 be tremendously thankful if you have had such a spiritual father. I'm not saying just to this church, to all those who will listen to this message on YouTube for the next many years. If you have a godly leader, you're very, 1:17:19 very blessed. Remember them who spoke the pure word of verse seven, pure word of god to you. And consider the result of their way of life, means see how they ended their life. Don't just see how they began, but see how after 50 1:17:39 years, how they are, never changing their convictions. Imitate their faith. Not imitate their way of life. Don't say if he's got a car, I must have a car. No, no, no. Imitate their faith, how they trusted God. That's why they 1:17:59 endured like that till the end. Dear brothers and sisters, this is God's word. I will say one more thing in closing. This morning when I got up, woke up in bed from, in bed itself, 1:18:19 you know what I prayed? I prayed the Lord's prayer, which is Matthew 6 verse 9. Sometimes I pray it. In spirit, I pray the content of that every day. But the actual words, sometimes. 1:18:41 Slowly, I did it very slowly today. Heavenly Father, stop for a moment. I have a dad in heaven who loves me, who runs this universe, who knows the future. My earthly dad never knew the future. 1:19:01 My heavenly dad does. And he provides for it. Father, my number one request is not give me more money. Not even give me a word to preach today. That God knows. let your name be glorified and 1:19:21 honored. That was my prayer this morning. Most of what I've shared in this message God gave me right now as I was sitting here, I'll tell you the truth. Because my prayer was, Lord, let your name be glorified. You decide 1:19:39 what I should speak. Let your name be glorified, hallowed, respected, held as holy. So many people disgrace the name of Jesus. So many believers have dishonored the name of Jesus. But Lord, I pray your name will be held holy. 1:19:54 Let me hold your name holy by the way I live. Number one request. Number two request. I want your kingdom to come. This world is being run by the devil now. I want this world to be run by God. I want my home to be run by God. 1:20:13 I want my life to be run. Let your rulership come in my life first. Let your rulership come in my home where I am the head of the home. And let your rulership come in the church if I have a responsibility there. Let your 1:20:24 rulership come all over the world. I want to see God's rule everywhere. That's my second request. Third request. Father, I've got so many desires but I don't want to do that. I want your will to be done. I want to follow my 1:20:41 savior who said not my will but thine be done. Not my till the last sentence in Gethsemane was, Father not my will but thine be done. He lived his whole life like that. I want to live my whole life like that. Not my will but 1:20:56 yours. As it is done in heaven. In heaven the angels are only doing God's will. Lord bring me to that place. Make me a heavenly person on earth. How? Only do God's will. then I come to my personal needs. Very practical. 1:21:14 Give us this day our daily food. Whatever you give I'll be thankful Lord. Some people can afford rich food. Maybe I can't afford such a rich food. I'm thankful that I can survive. Give me food to survive. If you have more, 1:21:33 I'm not saying you should not have more. If you can spend more, by all means have more. If you can afford ice cream and you're not afraid of getting diabetes, by all means have ice cream. But be more careful as you get older. 1:21:51 Watch your sugar levels. Give us this day our daily bread. And this is very important. Verse 12. Forgive us all our sins exactly like we have forgiven that guy and that guy. And the other guy and the other guy who hurt me. 1:22:08 Okay, let's stop there. How did you forgive that chap? You said, I forgive you, but I'll never forget what you did. Aha. Now you're praying, Father, forgive me like I've forgiven that person. Tell me, Father, I forgive you, 1:22:23 but I'll never forget what you did. You want God to speak to you like that? I'd be terrified if I have to live my life like that. If God said to me even once, I'll never forget what you did, but I'll forgive you. Do you 1:22:37 speak like that to others? Or do you give that impression to others? I'll forgive you, I can't forget what you did. That's evil, satanic. Forgive us exactly as we have forgiven others who have hurt us, who have done wrong 1:22:55 to us. And Lord, I don't want to think I can overcome everything. Please don't let me face temptation that is too strong for me. That's the meaning. God will not allow us to be tempted, but it's good to pray that. Father, 1:23:10 there's some temptations too strong for me. Don't let me face it. Don't put me into some situation where temptation is too strong. Please stand by me. But when I face temptation, deliver me from that evil. I can't deliver myself. 1:23:26 I want you to deliver me. And then finally, yours is the kingdom, power and the glory. And when I do all this, in the end of verse 13, in some translations, it's not there. The NSV has it. At the 1:23:46 end of it all, I'm not going to take the credit. I live such a great life. No. The glory, the kingdom, the power is all yours. What a wonderful prayer. I rejoiced praying it slowly this morning. I don't do it every day, 1:24:04 but once in a while, I encourage you. We have a wonderful father in heaven and we have a wonderful advocate and savior at his right hand who is on our side. Jesus is on your side every day. Even when you slip up and fall, 1:24:23 he's your advocate. The devil is your enemy. But you have an advocate in heaven who will stand up for you, who says, I shed my blood for this person. Forgive him, father, and I'm forgiven. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, 1:24:44 I pray that whatever was from you in my message, I pray nobody here will forget it. They'll remember it all their lives and it will bless them and make them a blessing to others. I pray in Jesus' 1:25:05 name. Amen. Amen. 1:25:38 You want to sing this song? My worth is not 1:25:58 in what I own, not in the strength of flesh and bone, but in the costly wounds of love at the cross. my worth is not in skill or name, in win or lose, in pride or shame, but in the blood of Christ that flowed at the cross. 1:26:18 We've been purchased at a great price. Let's turn our eyes and our hearts to the cross of Jesus. peace. Amen. 1:27:02 The blood of Christ that blows the blood and the joy. My worth is not in skill or name, in win or losing, pride or shame, but in the blood of Christ that blows the blood and the blood. 1:27:32 Rejoice in my redeemer, greatest treasure, wellspring of my soul. I will trust in Him, no other. My soul is satisfied in Him alone. 1:27:59 As summer flaws we fade and die, fame, youth, and beauty hurry by. But life eternal falls to us at the cross. 1:28:19 I will not boast in wealth or mind, or human wisdoms we deny. But I will boast in knowing Christ has gone. 1:28:40 I rejoice in my redeemer, greatest treasure, wellspring of my soul. I will trust in Him, no other. My soul is satisfied in Him alone. 1:29:00 Two wonders here that I confess, my worth and my unworthiness. Two wonders here that I confess, my worth and my unworthiness. 1:29:22 My value fakes, my ransom paid at the cross. I rejoice in the cross. I rejoice in my redeemer, greatest treasure, wellspring of my soul. 1:29:44 I will trust in Him, no other. My soul is satisfied in Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. In Him alone. I rejoice in my Redeemer, greatest treasure will spring of my soul. 1:30:06 I will trust in Him no other, so dissatisfied in Him alone. In Him alone. Amen. Thank you so much, Brother Zach. 1:30:32 We want to hear from Brother Sunil. Just, yeah, there we go. 1:31:04 Good to be back home. Really good to be back home. It's been four years since I've been here. Good to be back on the other side of the pandemic. And good to be with my home church. Lots of familiar faces, some new faces. 1:31:21 And I just want to say, the saints here, especially the ones that I've spent time with from my childhood years, but even in more recent times in my visits, all of you are the ones I delight in. And Psalm 16, verse 3 says, the saints who are on this earth, it's not just the saints of old. 1:31:38 It's not just the ones who have died and gone. Not just the missionaries that we read about. The saints on this earth are the ones I delight in. The saints on this earth are the ones I delight in. And I want to say, honestly, and before God, that the ones I've spent time with over here, 1:31:56 it's truly a delight to the saints in this church. As I was driving, being driven, I should say, I wasn't driving, driving from the airport this morning and then to church here, it just brought back a flood of memories seeing some of these familiar places. 1:32:16 Of course, a lot of it has changed now with the modernization of the city. But seeing places that were familiar haunts, places where I had adventures of my own. And it just brought back a flood of memories of my own youth as a young person here. 1:32:36 And it was a time when, you know, I wasn't a Christian at that time. I hadn't given my life to the Lord. And like Paul, I can truly say, I was a wretched young man. But thanks be to God that he was faithful. Even when I was faithless, he was faithful. 1:32:52 And when I was distracted, he was devoted to me. And I'm thankful that the Lord laid hold of me right before I left to college. And one of the verses that came to me at that time when I gave my life to Jesus and brought me to the Lord was from Matthew chapter 11. 1:33:12 Matthew chapter 11, we can turn there, verses 28. And I was burdened with a lot of things, distracted with a lot of things. And the Lord spoke to me through his words and said, come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 1:33:28 And that's the same thing I want to start with today. Many of you here today, maybe you're giving your life to Christ. But you're burdened today with a trial, with a situation in your life, with pressure from a family situation, with a financial situation, job situation, health situation. 1:33:43 And the Lord's saying, I've got exciting news for you. This invitation is for you. This invitation is not for the complacent one who's got full control of their lives. The invitation is for the one who's weary and tired. 1:33:57 That's the one whom Jesus is inviting to come and to find rest. And that's where we all want to be every single day. We want to come to the Lord and find that rest. And if we've given our lives to Jesus, that's where we want to be in that state of rest. 1:34:13 But as Christians, as we mature, we should not be stopping there. What happens next? We talked about clothing ourselves with humility. And that's where we get to the next verse, in verse 29. We must progress from ones that just are weary and heavy laden and come to the Lord for rest. 1:34:34 Verse 29 says, Jesus says, take my yoke upon you and learn from me. What do we learn from him? Learn gentleness and humility in heart and you will find a greater rest for your souls. An even greater rest for your souls. 1:34:50 And, you know, I just picture myself going to, if you think about Jesus running a school or a college, he takes one class. It says one class that he's willing to teach, like we are today. We should be clothed in humility. 1:35:02 How do we learn that humility? It's learning it from Jesus. Jesus takes one class that he's willing to teach us every day. It's a class of humility. It's a class of gentleness. We need to come to him and learn that every single day. 1:35:13 And verse 30 says, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. If I'm willing to surrender myself, discipline myself to take up his yoke, to take his yoke, it is actually easy. If I surrender my life to him, his burdens, it says, there's a verse in 1 John which says, his commands are not burdensome. 1:35:34 And the yoke of the Lord is not burdensome. I was thinking about this when we think about the different levels of Christians. Let's think of a parallel. Who do we have pity on here on this earth? Who do you find yourself having pity on when you're driving on the roads? 1:35:53 I find myself having pity on somebody who might see who is a beggar outside knocking on my window as we're driving on the streets in India. Or somebody who's handicapped. That's somebody I feel pity on. Who should be pitied in the Christian life? 1:36:11 Turn with me to 1 Corinthians chapter 15. 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse 19 says, to whom Paul says, Who are the men or women to be pitied the most? Verse 19, If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, 1:36:34 we of all men must be pitied. Must are most to be pitied. What does that tell me? If my primary hope, if my primary hope is outcomes and desires in this life itself, and it's not something of eternal value, it's something that I'm desiring this, 1:36:54 what does that practically mean? It means I want this difficult boss. I pray to the Lord, Lord, remove this difficult boss. Solve this financial situation. And as we heard, what does the Lord's prayer start with? The Lord's prayer starts with, 1:37:07 Lord, your will be done. Your kingdom come. Your name be glorified and magnified. And that takes humility. A proud person thinks of their own interest first, thinks about his name, his situation, his kingdom. 1:37:27 And the Lord's saying, I have something much higher for you. You're like a handicapped Christian. You're like a spiritual beggar if your only interest in Christ is in this life. If you've only hoped in Jesus Christ, just for something in this life. 1:37:47 And Jesus might meet your, he might answer your prayers, he might meet those needs of yours. But if you've only hoped, you might get to heaven, but you'll get to heaven handicapped. You'll get to heaven like a spiritual beggar. 1:37:57 And the Lord is something far greater for us. And in contrast, like we heard, we ought to learn humility from Jesus. And I'm encouraged from the example of Jesus. So I just want to share a couple things I've learned from the example of Jesus 1:38:11 as he teaches me humility, as I learn humility from him. The life of Jesus was one of surrender and submission to the Lord. One of surrender and submission. Hebrews 5, verse 7 to 8 says, In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up both prayers and supplications 1:38:31 with loud crying and tears to the one able to save him from death. And he was heard because of his piety. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered. And that's what it practically means, 1:38:44 is that, Lord, I'm willing to pray prayers. I'm willing to say, Lord, if it is your will, maybe I'll get acceptance into this college. If it's your will, maybe you'll heal me of this sickness. If it's your will, you will resolve this problem in the workplace. 1:39:01 So you will deal with the situation. But much, much more important than that, Lord, I want to deny myself. I want to learn obedience. If somebody provokes me to anger, I don't want to react in that way. I want to say, Lord, save him for your kingdom. 1:39:14 Rather than praying, Lord, eliminate my difficult boss. How about you pray, Lord, bring that boss of mine to your kingdom. Help him to meet Jesus. Isn't that a far more, greater prayer to prayer of eternal value? Philippians 2, verse 8, 1:39:29 another example of Jesus' humility. We know the passage about Jesus' humility. It says, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross. And I just pictured Jesus dying to himself every single day, 1:39:41 praying prayers that were, Lord, your will be done. I feel like reacting. I feel like reacting. I feel like asking for this material benefit. I feel like reacting to what somebody is saying to me. But Lord, your will be done. 1:39:56 I'm going to deny myself to a point of death. I want to be obedient. And I want to learn. Jesus learned obedience through those things he suffered. And that's the step to humility, is learning obedience from Jesus. I was encouraged recently 1:40:09 from an excerpt from a book my dad wrote, actually, from a collection of emails he sent us about 25 years ago as young men. The book is called Here Are My Sons. Many of you have read it. I just want to read an excerpt from that 1:40:23 about how Jesus' humility was manifest in the way his relationship with God was, his father was. It says in Here Are My Sons, in this passage, it says, the father allowed Jesus to suffer and to walk by faith without any evidence 1:40:40 that he would satisfy his earthly senses. And here are three examples of that. The last request that Jesus made to his father after living a life of perfect obedience to his father after 33 years was, let this cup pass from me. 1:40:54 But it was not granted. When God did not answer the prayer that this cup passed, did Jesus turn against God? Was he discouraged? God was still his father. The last question that Jesus, the second point, the last question 1:41:10 that Jesus asked his father, why have you forsaken me? Jesus asked the question of the father, again, not answered. What is your response when your prayers are not answered? When your prayers to the Lord are not answered? 1:41:21 The humble person still persists in unity with God, even when the prayer is not answered because you know his Lord, you've got something, your will is being done. Even if you're not answering my prayer, even if I'm not hearing 1:41:31 from you right now, your will is being done. And then the third point from this excerpt, the last that this world saw of Jesus was when he was stripped to his underwear, publicly humiliated, misunderstood as a criminal when he hung on the cross. 1:41:46 How many are willing to follow the Lord when he says no to their prayer, to their prayer requests, does not answer their questions, allows them to be publicly humiliated, even when they have lived a life of obedience to him? 1:42:00 That is the life of faith, a life of perfect trust in the all-wise ordering of our Heavenly Father, of all our circumstances, and perfect submission to those circumstances without question. And that's the humility I believe I want to, 1:42:13 and I believe God wants all of us to graduate to, not to be spiritually handicapped, but to be ones that are saying, Lord, you have ordained every circumstance for my benefit, I can pray these prayers for my physical needs, 1:42:24 but even if you don't answer it, Lord, much more important than that, your will be done, your name be glorified, your kingdom come. And the way we heard being clothed in humility towards God, the other way we're clothed 1:42:37 to humility is towards others. And the other thing I can learn from Jesus is in his humility towards others, in his willingness to serve others. Jesus himself said, the Son of Man did not come to serve, but to be served. 1:42:51 He says in John 13, he says, John 13, verse 14 and 15, he says, if I, the Lord and teacher, washed your feet, how much more should you are to wash each other's feet? For I gave you an example that you should also do as I did to you. 1:43:07 And that's the eagerness we must have as we learn humility from Christ. It's not to be regarded as ones who have been walking for the Lord for a long time and mature believers that other people can look up to. No, it's growth 1:43:21 and humility where I have an eagerness to serve somebody who is younger than me, to serve a child, to serve my spouse, to serve my children at home. Not to elevate myself as somebody who's superior, but say, I want to come down 1:43:35 and serve them. I want to wash their feet. I want to, I'm eager to serve it. And that's, that's the humility we want to grow in. I want to share, I want to end with these, with a picture of what heaven looks like. There's a couple of things 1:43:51 that are spoken about Jesus in heaven that are, what do you think of when you think of Jesus in heaven? A lot of us picture Jesus seated on the throne with a crown on his head, us worshiping before him. All, all true. We are going to do that. 1:44:07 But let me show you another picture of Jesus at the end of the time when he comes back for us and at the end of the time. Two, two pictures actually. Turn with me to Luke chapter 12 verse 37. 1:44:28 This is a great picture of Jesus in heaven and very different from what you may have imagined. And Jesus is talking about the ones who have been serving his people here on earth, giving them rations at the right time. He says, 1:44:43 blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes. What does Jesus do when he finds these people like us, you know, brothers and sisters who are alert for him? He says, truly I say to you, the master, 1:44:57 who's the master? Jesus in this case, he will gird himself to serve and have them, have us recline at the table and he will come up and serve them. Have you seen this picture of Jesus? Not the one with the crown, not the one sitting 1:45:10 on the throne, but even in heaven. He's on his knees ready to serve us. This is the picture. This is why we grow in humility over here because we take that same spirit of humility and service to heaven with us. I want to be found 1:45:23 alongside Jesus serving with him. And then the other picture, the last picture I'll share with you, going back to 1 Corinthians chapter 15. 1 Corinthians 15 verse 24. And this talks about the end of the age when the earth 1:45:40 has come to an end and the last, what is the last final act that Jesus does? What is the last final act that he does? 1 Corinthians 15 verse 24. It says, then comes the end when he hands over the kingdom to God and Father 1:45:55 when he has abolished all rule and authority and power. And just for a moment pause there. The pursuit of this world is authority and power. Like everything you hear from whether you're in school or in college or in the workplace, 1:46:08 what are people pursuing after? They're pursuing after power, authority. That is the ultimate goal is to be on top. And the picture of heaven is the opposite. It's Jesus abolishing, completely abolishing all power and authority. 1:46:22 But it goes so far that he abolishes his own power and authority. Verse 28 says of the same chapter, a few verses down, when all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself also will be subjected to the one who subjected all things 1:46:36 to him so that God may be all in all. And what a beautiful picture that the last thing that Jesus does is he hands over the kingdom to God and he says, even I don't need to be in authority. I'm willing to be subject to the Father. 1:46:47 And I just love that picture of heaven where Jesus, my forerunner, is serving me, is submitting and fully surrendering to God, his Father, even in heaven. And that's the added, that's the humility I want to clothe myself in. 1:47:04 That's the humility that I want to learn. That's the humility that I want to take with me in heaven. I want to be honest. I want to be right there giving up my kingdom, giving, presenting my spouse and my children and that's my kingdom, 1:47:19 so to speak, and say, Lord, this is yours. I don't, there's no crowns here. I'm laying down my crowns before you. I want to have that same attitude of humility. May we have that spirit of heaven right here on earth starting today. 1:47:32 Amen. Amen. Let's bow our heads 1:48:04 in prayer. Dear Father, thank you thank you for your love. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for ministering to our hearts, warmed us, helping us to see a little more glimpse of Jesus. Thank you. 1:48:25 Such a beautiful glory and glimpse of Jesus. Oh, grip our hearts. Father, please help us. Let our hearts be gripped and remind us again and again so that we will be gripped and we will never 1:48:45 forget it. The glory and humility of Jesus and Father so that we'll walk in humility, we'll live in humility, we'll glorify you and magnify you. We'll be better witnesses, Lord, in coming days. Thank you for speaking to our hearts 1:49:03 and blessing us and warming our hearts, Lord. Help us as we walk this path. In Jesus' name we pray. The meeting is over, brothers, announcements. We'll be right back. 1:49:44 We'll be right back.
